Cheap, fast, and delicious! Mixue is a chain from China that is known for fast and cheap dessert like boba drinks and soft serve ice cream. It definitely lives up to its name since the place was packed with a line out the door, but I still got my order very promptly. On top of that, basically everything was under $5. I love Mixue! - Matcha: Good, big portion. It tastes pretty good! - Soft Serve (vanilla) with cookies: Yummy tasty vanilla soft serve with chocolate sauce and oreos - Mango Coco Boom: Super refreshing and delicious! Sweet, mango-y, and I love the inclusions of all the toppings. There is minimal seating, but still enough where if you can snag a seat, you can sit and talk with friends. This standard bubble tea business recently open in Chinatown, NYC with a grand fake red carpet at the entrance. I am not impressed, honestly and with directness. With an open mind, without judgment I gave it the o' college try seeking my default teas and favorite default drink topping of grass jelly loeng4 fan2 涼粉. My experience is callous and impersonal. I was disappointedly short of cash as that was my plan for method of payment. There is one cash register for cash payments operated by a human while there are two cashless kiosk. This Mixue location is gargantuan with abundant seating. The atmosphere conditions are heavily plastered in Japanese animation cartoons. Mixue does not have business cards nor takeout menu. The menu is electronically displayed on the kiosk. Furthermore, Mixue deliberately offer "one size for all" large forcing customers to intake large sugary drinks to death because Mixue do NOT give any option to chose industry standard drink sizes: small or medium!! Malfeasance. Blantant unethical. The cashless kiosk was weirdly damning as customers must provide a phone number for verification in order to move forward with placing your order. All in all, I received six (6) SMS texts from phone verification code, welcome to Mixue, loyalty points earned, point balance, order placement number, miniscule truncated and I deemed insufficient damning sales receipt, and including order ready notification for pick-up. These stolid incompetent cashless kiosk does not provide a printed sales receipt, but a SMS text despite of having a slot for printed receipts to be dispensed. Mixue does have loyalty where points are earned, balance can be viewed. Order process for order placement is displayed publicly in real-time on a large TV monitor either by name entered in the kiosk or phone number. Mixue is a modern Asian bubble tea/ ice cream business that heavily relies on technology which the consequence is very minimal human-to-human interaction for no interpersonal exchange concept. Adaptability with evolution for technology with time is important, but what about the whole interpersonal human exchange? Peach Oolong tea, medium, $4.33 The coloring of this standard, classic Oolong tea is red pink hue. I have never purchased nor drank Oolong tea in this weirdly damning odd color before. It does not taste like tea in any shape or form, but it has all the aesthetic visual appearance including taste characteristic for lemonade. I did not want lemonade, but my desideratum was Oolong tea. There is absolutely no grass jelly loeng4 fan2 涼粉 for drink topping listed on the kiosk menu, but the closest is white pudding which is awful! This white pudding taste exactly as coconut pudding or Chinese sesame milk pudding served in Chinese Dim Sum large banquet restaurants. There is minimal pieces of fresh fruit white peach embedded, not regular yellow peach. The menu offers "cool" as a option which I, inadvertently, chosen in error without understanding "cool" is colloquial for served chilled or cold without ice. I went to the Mixue location in Times Square and had a pleasant experience, but they sold out of ice cream so I've been meaning to visit Mixue again to try their soft serves. Luckily, the one in Chinatown opened up, which is way more convenient for me than Times Square. But once I got to the entrance, I was so overstimulated by the throng of people hanging by the entrance. Inside was even more packed. I quickly placed an order on my phone for 3 different soft serves, one on a cone and two sundaes in a cup. The wait took a while (to no one's surprise, given how packed it was). However, I saw 3 cups of soft serves prepared and waiting on the table for a while. Turns out, 2 of those were mine. However, the workers didn't give it to me because the sundae cups weren't capped yet. I wanted them capped, so I waited a little longer. But I got called to get my freshly prepared cone soft serve, and at that point, it didn't make sense to wait any longer. The ice cream in the cups were already melting and I didn't want the ice cream on the cone to melt all over my hand. It didn't look like anyone was trying to retrieve the caps for me, so I asked the worker to just put the cups in a bag and I left. If I had any more patience, I would've requested for totally new soft serves in the cups. Why am I paying for melted ice cream?? The system/organization is really terrible right now. I'm assuming it's because they weren't prepared for the sheer chaos, so hopefully, it eventually works out its kinks and runs a smooth sailing ship. read more

stopped by the Chinatown location of Mixue on Canal Street during the current heatwave bc I wanted an icy cold drink on my trek through the fiery heat. this location is fairly big compared to other locations that i have been to. the order and pickup counter is big. the location is fairly clean for a high traffic area with some seating toward the middle to back of the store. most people were grabbing and going OR catching some cool air-conditioned air before heading back into the heat. the interior is fairly minimalist outside of the giant mascots and signage. to order there are 3 digital touchscreens to the right of the entrance for ordering from the sizable menu of soft serve ice cream cones, sundaes, bubble teas and juices, milk teas, and other dessert-y type drinks. landed on the Grape with Taro Balls (basically a grape flavored tea drink with taro balls). ordered the Grape with Taro Balls with "less ice" (there's still plenty in it!) and 30% sugar which was lowest value for added sugar than 0% (most people seem to go with 100% (regular) or higher. i like the customization options to adjust sweetness and ice as well as to add other items to your drink or dessert. the drink was great on a hot humid afternoon--a pleasant grape tea flavor (not too artificial or chemically, served cold, fairly sweet (probably would go with 0% added sugar next time! for this drink!)and and a nice chewy texture of the taro balls makes for a refreshing summer drink. honestly, this drink rocks whether it blazing hot or not. while i imagine this location can get super crowded--on the day i was there, it was mostly because the touchscreens for ordering were a few feet away from the entrance, so as the lines for each touchscreen built up...there was a literal crowd of people waiting to order in front of the entrance. if they added a few more touchscreens and move them to the middle of the store...i think it would reduce the traffic jams at the entrance. the busy-ness was really the lines for the touchscreens plus people waiting for their orders than anything else. outside of that and the insanity of getting to this locations because there are tons of tourists and street vendors on every block of Canal Street on the weekends...the sidewalks were insanely claustrophobic at times. the service is efficient and is quick despite the number of people who seem to be waiting for their orders. all in all, Mixue is a good place to catch your breath, reenergize with an ice cream or drink, and take on downtown Manhattan! read more

What a fun shop! I've been wanting to come here for a while and it was so fun to see the Snow King in the flesh! A $1.19 ice cream and a $1.99 lemonade came to just under $3.50. First of all, why can't I request a cup for my cone -- especially when you apparently can't just give me a plain ice cream as a sundae. Not everyone likes having artificial syrup in their ice cream... and honestly, wouldn't it be beneficial to them to charge the usual sundae price without using syrup??? My first time at Mixue and I've heard good things about their ice cream. I was specially ordering ice cream for my picky toddler and her friend who was not at the store with me. First of all, you know how messy little kids can get with ice cream. I prefer feeding them out of a cup or bowl. But apparently it is store policy to not be flexible. I ended up getting the mango and the strawberry. The mango was still acceptable in my opinion but the strawberry was super artificial, just the way I hate it. My coworker wanted to try their matcha ice cream but of course I couldn't get it for her for the very same reason as the issue with my toddlers order. My coworker and I also tried their coconut mango with taro balls. It was only ok. Flavor wasn't very strong. Not something we would order again. Are they only popular because they are cheap? I'm really happy this Chinatown outpost of Mixue finally opened up. It's quite spacious and actually has seating available. The staff work quickly to make drink orders-- I haven't had to wait more than five minutes for my order because the store is well staffed. Of all the drinks I've tried so far, my favorites include their classic lemonade ($1.99) and peach oolong tea ($3.49). The drinks are on the sweet side, so I would recommend ordering with the sugar level at 50-70%. Their soft serve is fantastic and I always get a cone when I pass by. My only complaint is that the two kiosks are situated too close to the door, which causes a traffic jam at the entrance. read more

I've been meaning to try their ice cream for the longest time and finally got to going. I will say that the block is really uncomfortable to walk through because of all the fake bags being sold outside so it makes it super hard to try to get through it all. When I went it was pretty packed and there are 3 self service kiosks and one person taking orders at the register. I was able to get to a open kiosk pretty quick and ordered seamlessly. I will say that the service was super quick, but maybe because I did not order drinks so after 5 seconds of finishing up at the kiosk, the guy at the counter was already calling my number. It was the fastest I've ever been called, but thankfully he didn't make the ice cream yet, but was just making sure I was there. I ordered the matcha soft serve which after tax came out to be 1.84 which is a steal in this economy. The matcha isn't very strong, but you can't expect too much for that price. It kind of tastes like a milder version of a matcha latte in ice cream form. It's good for people who don't like matcha ice cream to be too overpowering. I will say it does melt relatively quickly so I wouldnt recommend it on a super hot day since they dont serve them in cups unless you order a sundae. I would totally come back and try the other flavors. I am very curious about how the original is and for only 1.19, I don't think it would be too bad. Came here on a Sunday night to try and it was still pretty packed. Ordering is done through the kiosk, which took about 5 minutes since there were a few people ahead of me. After ordering, I waited about 10 minutes for the drinks. I ordered the peach mango jasmine tea and the lemon iced tea. The lemon iced tea was citrusy and refreshing with the perfect balance of lemon flavor and sweetness. The peach mango jasmine tea was honestly my favorite. It had the perfect amount of sweetness and the peach and mango blend worked really well together. I also liked that there were little fruit bites in the drink, which added a nice texture. One negative thing I would say is that they add a lot of ice. By the time I finished the drink there was still about half a cup of ice left. Overall I would still come back and try other drinks. The flavors were really good and I'm curious to explore more of the menu. read more

I went back during their grand opening. They had ice cream available finally. There were 2 flavors: vanilla and matcha soft serve. They had a special that day when you buy a drink, you get a vanilla ice cream for free. I got hot jasmine tea. That was pretty good and only for $2. The vanilla ice cream was pretty good. Regularly only $1.30 including tax. I had to get the matcha ice cream too. It's less than $2 for it including tax. I really liked the matcha ice cream. I would get this again, but if it ran out, I would still get vanilla. It's so cheap. This location is big and has seatings. Great place to have some tea and/or ice cream. read more

A customer in front of me had a broken jaw that was wired shut, making it impossible for him to eat an ice cream cone in the normal manner. Given his condition, he simply asked the employees for a cup or a straw so that he could safely consume the ice cream. Rather than showing basic compassion and accommodating a customer with an obvious medical limitation, the employees refused and claimed that providing a cup or straw was against company policy. I find this response extremely disappointing and disturbing. This was not a frivolous request or an attempt to obtain something unreasonable. The customer was injured and physically unable to eat the product as it was served. Providing a cup or straw would have been a simple, inexpensive accommodation that would have allowed him to enjoy his purchase safely. Out of frustration, the customer took a paper cup from a display, prompting a junior staff member to accuse him of theft. Regardless of whether such a policy actually exists, employees should have the ability to exercise reasonable judgment and compassion when dealing with customers who have medical or physical limitations. If the company truly has a policy prohibiting employees from providing a cup or straw in circumstances like this, I strongly urge management to reconsider that policy. I feel that I should report this incident to the department of health and may still do so. The behavior of the employees was shameful. read more

Right on Canal street which is great since there is always foot traffic. Price is cheap. Love that they have many different drinks and toppings. Ice cream. Soft, smooth and silky for less than $2 bucks. Only reason it gets a 4 star was that some items were out of stock but the order machine says it was still in stock. The worker did call out my number to tell me and if I wanted something else to replace it which I did. Only because it was busy and making them do a refund is a waste of time. My order was also wrong but they happily gave me the item that was not ordered for free. I feel that my drink was not filled enough. Slightly disappointing. Consistency is key which I think each worker has their own way of filling the ice cream and drink. I had 3 ice creams and they were 3 inches high. The soft serves here are extremely affordable and the quality is actually not bad. Less than $2 for a cone!! Where else can you find that?? We got both the Vanilla and the Matcha and agreed that the matcha tasted better. It is true though that the amount of ice cream that you get heavily depends on which staff member prepares your order. We were lucky and got large servings while some customers after us got cones that were like half the size of our's. Lesson of the day: if you see them give you an unfairly small amount of ice cream, definitely speak up! When it was my turn, the employee first said I could order at the counter, but then said they don't accept cash. After that, he also said we couldn't order at the counter at all.i ask him why the lady in front of me can order. And he told me it's because his boss told him to do that. His explanation kept changing. If they accept cash, it should apply to everyone. If not, then don't accept it at all. The inconsistent rules made the experience really bad. read more
