I have come here a few times to eat, and I have been very pleased with each visit. This venue is very quiet and peaceful, with an atmosphere that *feels* foreign, an out-of-Houston experience. Lunches have economical specials with soups and salad, and dinners are always prepared as multi-course meals with an appetizer and dessert. Even still, the food is exceedingly authentic with deep-flacurry broth, broth, crispy tofu, and a full-flavored tonkatsu ramen. That is of course, to speak nothing of the sushi itself, which has been economical, filling, and of great quality. There are several platters and cuts of sashimi that I am looking forward to enjoying on future visits. This is certainly a hidden gem of West Houston. This is my new favorite spot for sushi in Katy! I went in for lunch and opted for the 6 piece sushi and roll combo, which came with assorted nigiri and a salmon roll. Though the reviews indicate that this restaurant is known for its sushi, we went there in search of ramen, and were not disappointed in our find. We ordered the spicy miso ramen, the spicy tonkatsu ramen, and the steak ramen with extra garlic. Also, edamame for an appetizer. The service was quick and friendly. We were there about an hour before closing, and it was almost empty. The location of the restaurant is such that I had never seen it before, even having driven past it more than a few times. My friend and I ordered several appetizers: baked mussels, hotate butter, and scallops. All of them were amazing, but the mussels by far were my favorite. I also ordered sushi: Mt. Fuji, Angry Roll, and Tiger Eye Roll. It took some time to get our sushi, but it was worth the wait. They served it on a little ship, which I thought was cool. Every roll was well constructed and tasteful. I especially loved their Mt. Fuji. It looked like they were understaffed, but even at that they were still attentive to all the customers. I wanted something with spicy tuna and notice the NY Roll had spicy tuna and fried soft shelled crab, so gave it a try. I was pleasantly surprised with my choice and enjoyed all of it. Spicy tuna roll was pretty standard but the portion was pretty big. Everything tasted fresh and came out relatively fast. Added bonus that I didn't have to break my chopsticks. They were, in fact, perfectly separated for dining pleasure. Volcano Roll: at first bite, this roll melts in your mouth. Literally. Melts. It's an odd sensation. There's a touch of sweetness and every once in awhile, a hint of jalapeño. Manhattan: has a hint of freshness and with some wasabi, it could pack a spicy punch. Angry: of our four rolls, the angry carried the most distinct flavor and for those looking to avoid rice, this roll was pretty tasty. Miyabi: this roll had the least amount of flavor. If you don't like spice and want some fish and rice, order this. So...I realized while eating my rolls that all of the insides were similar, but preparation, toppings, and sauces all varied. None of the rolls were "bad," but nothing really stood out either. I would come back to try some of their other offers. BUT their service isn't the best. The portion was small considering it was 11.00 dollars. I've had better sushi from H‑E‑B. Cream cheese tempura doesn't come with any dipping sauce. It probably would have been tasty dipped in a sweet and sour sauce. Then again maybe not, it was just cream cheese deep fried. Service was quick and I was in and out. I'm so happy we found this place out of pure spontaneity! We where on the hunt for some good sushi and to try somewhere new and I'm so happy we came across Miyabi Sushi. The service was super! Even though there was some miscommunication about my husbands order they really didn't make it a big deal and even gave us complimentary ice cream even though it wasn't a big deal for us at all. But the fact they went and wanted to end our meal with a sweet gesture spoke volumes to us about their value of their customers.
