3.5 stars. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Good service and pleasant, simple dining space.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Okay sushi. They have lunch specials/deals every day, even weekends. The quality of the fish is just alright. It's not too pricey, and the food quality and price do check out. It's really not bad for the price, but I'm not sure if I'd come back given the many sushi options nearby. The fish pieces (eel, salmon) seemed a little dry, and the avocado they used was chalky and not ripe, and it threw off the texture of a lot of our rolls. We tried the Salmon Oshinko, Salmon Cucumber, Eel Cucumber regular rolls and the Amsterdam Roll, Dragon Roll, Sunny Day special rolls. They are pretty light on the sauces (eel sauce, mayo sauce, etc.), which can be a good or bad thing depending on your preferences. The roll I liked the least and wouldn't recommend was the Sunny Day. It had no taste and I didn't like the very mushy texture of all the fish pieces (tuna, salmon, yellowtail). They all blended together into one mush. The Salmon Oshinko wasn't bad. The oshinko pickled radish has a stronger, sweeter flavor, but I thought it went well with the salmon. I also have not tried or seen that combo anywhere else, so it was refreshing. I wouldn't mind coming here again, but if I had a choice, I think I'd try another place for sushi! read more

Got the lunch special with two special rolls and a salad (you can pick miso soup or salad). I got two rainbow rolls for my order. Total was around $28 with tax. Come here, you will not regret it!! They have a buy one get one free poke bowl deal for the summer. Your choice of rice and protein (tuna/salmon/spicy tuna/spicy salmon) and toppings (edamame, mango, avocado, seaweed salad, corn and roe). The fish is soooo FRESH! The salmon is so buttery and the tuna is amazing too, super soft. Some places the tuna can be kind of mushy due to being frozen too long but this was great and no fishy taste at all. Toppings are also super fresh and the sauce was great. Just look at the amount of fish. The bowl is massive, I took my leftovers to go so I got 2 meals out of it. I'm usually pretty skeptical about these types of sushi places especially during dinner service because it just never feels as if there's enough food for the price. Rather just go to a sushi buffet instead. This place met that description although the service was pretty great. I ordered the Dragon Roll and was extremely disappointed. The eel was very soft and flimsy and the roll itself was quite small - definitely could not fill a person up. The roll was also mostly rice and there weren't a ton of other ingredients in it. Overall, would not recommend and maybe get the House Special Roll instead which I tried and is definitely more worth it as they put an entire tempura shrimp in there. I have to say, bang for your Buck? This is the place to get your Japanese fix. Bento boxes? Cheap and plentiful, and decent rolls. Many places in the area only have specials during lunch, but they have specials all day. But generally places will give you soup OR salad, you get both in addition to seaweed salad, spring roll...And all the sides before getting to your entree. I've never eaten there, only take out. My lunch deal included rice and a choice of soup or salad. This week I tried: 1) Salmon Teriyaki. Overall very good, included vegetables plus rice & a salad. The salad was very average, but for 9.00$ ?? I'm not complaining. Would definitely order again. 2) Lunch Any 3 Rolls. Priced at under 12$ that comes out to 4 dollars a roll. Had the salmon avocado roll and it was fine. Especially for the price and portion sizes. Is it super fancy ? No. But a good value? Yes. So overall, it's cheap, and the house roll is very tasty. But be warned, some of the fish didn't taste fresh and they messed up our order. When my girlfriend picked up the order, they were not very patient and gave her a sautéed eggplant and sushi roll dinner without double checking her name or number; they simply pushed the order on her. When she got home, we discovered it was wrong; after a quick phone call they agreed to take it back. We got our correct order, and they let us keep the wrong sushi roll. I think I discovered my new go to sushi lunch place. Ordered a sushi lunch for $14, and I'm very happy! The fish are very high quality especially the salmon which is buttery smooth. Other fishes are also very fresh. (I don't think they aged their fish. I'd be surprised if they do at $14. so 'fresh' is probably the right description here.) There rice is also cooked very well, I can feel a bit of a rough texture on the rice, indicating that this may not be koshihikari rice, but more like Kakuho rose or Nishiki. It worked well tho. (The owner can confirms whether I'm right about the rice.) If there's one critique it's that the rice is way under seasoned. I don't feel any vinegar in the rice. So you gotta put a bit more seasoning to improve, in my opinion. Also the rice is a tiny bit too much. I usually like a lot of rice in my sushi, but this is probably 10% too much rice. It'd be perfect if the chef can adjust the rice down. To summarize, at $14, this is a steal. 4 stars - will recommend! read more

I had someone bring me back takeout from this place. They had the sashimi dinner bento box. I did a double take when they told me that a bento box was just over $20 and comes with a sushi roll, shumai, salad, soup, rice and spring roll. There were multiple pieces of at least four kinds of fish in the sashimi and it tasted fresh, even though it was the end of the day. The salmon nigiri here was delicious - the fish was fresh and thick cut, and it was decorated beautifully with slices of lemon around it. I had the chicken teriyaki lunch bento box, and it came with a lot of food! The miso soup was delicious, although it could use a little more seaweed and tofu. The salad was fresh, and I appreciate that they put the dressing on the side. The fried shrimp siu mai was not bad, and I loved the california roll, though it could use a little more rice. Great Value! Miyako has become a go-to for Japanese delivery. The basic rolls start at $5 and the speciality rolls are in the $12 - $13 range. My go to takeout sushi spot for years. On seamless they have great combo deals. Their special rolls are amazing. Love the house special roll, the sweetheart roll, spicy tuna, crab money bags, and also their shrimp teriyaki (solo or in a bento box) is awesome. Only warning is that sometimes the bento box gets the teriyaki sauce on the sushi roll it comes with which is a bit unfortunate. Pretty standard. I dropped by Miyako for a bowl of soup and was not disappointed. I ordered a bowl of soup with udon noodles, and it really hit the spot. For one, the bowl was HUMONGOUS and came packed with plenty of strips of chicken and two sticks of shrimp tempura. There was so much soup that I actually had to ask the waitress to pack the rest for the road, which is very rare for me. The service was pretty much on point - I cannot complain about much with Miyako. It seems like the restaurant is a pretty standard in and out kind of place. Both got the dinner bento ($19 for basically 2 meals for us) - one pork katsu and the other shrimp tempura. The shrimp tempura was actually great! Katsu was fine but a little dry. (reposting review under correct restaurant name) After a few months spent away from the city in what is essentially a wasteland when it comes to sushi, Miyako tastes like no less than the ambrosia of the gods. I will never take excellent neighborhood sushi places like this for granted ever again! Miyako would be considered the creme de la creme of sushi in many parts of the country. It ain't fancy (for NYC), but the fish used is impeccably fresh, the rice excellent, maki well rolled. Chicken katsu comes perfectly crisp outside, tender and juicy inside, served with fragrant, fresh lemon. Portion sizes are generous and prices are shockingly low for such high quality food. And the delivery folks are extremely nice. When I compare apples to apples and not Miyako to Uchu, I can't think of a single thing I don't love about this restaurant. Except maybe that I can't get it cloned and have one in my neighborhood, or at least town, in CT. read more
