This soup cures all. It was a cold, rainy day yesterday and this soup warmed me right up. YUM!

Come here, you will not regret it!! They have a buy one get one free poke bowl deal for the summer. Your choice of rice and protein (tuna/salmon/spicy tuna/spicy salmon) and toppings (edamame, mango, avocado, seaweed salad, corn and roe). The fish is soooo FRESH! The salmon is so buttery and the tuna is amazing too, super soft. Some places the tuna can be kind of mushy due to being frozen too long but this was great and no fishy taste at all. Toppings are also super fresh and the sauce was great. Just look at the amount of fish. The bowl is massive, I took my leftovers to go so I got 2 meals out of it. Service is really good, and food came out fast. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance is good too! More of a casual place with a sushi bar area so lots of seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Highly highly recommend.

I'm usually pretty skeptical about these types of sushi places especially during dinner service because it just never feels as if there's enough food for the price. Rather just go to a sushi buffet instead. This place met that description although the service was pretty great. I ordered the Dragon Roll and was extremely disappointed. The eel was very soft and flimsy and the roll itself was quite small - definitely could not fill a person up. The roll was also mostly rice and there weren't a ton of other ingredients in it. Overall, would not recommend and maybe get the House Special Roll instead which I tried and is definitely more worth it as they put an entire tempura shrimp in there. Probably would not come back again...

Reviewing for takeout. Have ordered the chirashi from Miyako for takeout and was pleasantly surprised with the quantity and quality of the fish. For just over $20 a pretty good deal for sushi in NYC. Will order again. Taking a star off as I have also ordered the dinner special rolls from here which I found to be just OK.

Agree - Miyako Sushi is one of the best lunch values for sushi. I searched all over & finally found this restaurant. What a great deal! The lunch menu currently has specials priced between 8 to 9 dollars (plus tax) and includes a nice range of choices. Included in the lunch special selections : chicken, salmon, beef & tofu teriyaki and negamaki plus many more! Bento boxes too. Lots of choices. My lunch deal included rice and a choice of soup or salad. This week I tried: 1) Salmon Teriyaki. Overall very good, included vegetables plus rice & a salad. The salad was very average, but for 9.00$ ?? I'm not complaining. Would definitely order again. 2) Lunch Any 3 Rolls. Priced at under 12$ that comes out to 4 dollars a roll. Had the salmon avocado roll and it was fine. Especially for the price and portion sizes. Is it super fancy ? No. But a good value? Yes. Overall, can't beat the price for the lunch menu and portion sizes. Definitely a great place for the budget conscious diner.

So overall, it's cheap, and the house roll is very tasty. But be warned, some of the fish didn't taste fresh and they messed up our order. When my girlfriend picked up the order, they were not very patient and gave her a sautéed eggplant and sushi roll dinner without double checking her name or number; they simply pushed the order on her. When she got home, we discovered it was wrong; after a quick phone call they agreed to take it back. We got our correct order, and they let us keep the wrong sushi roll. Everything was meh, except the house roll which was really good. Wish they were more consistent but for the price, not terrible.

I think I discovered my new go to sushi lunch place. Ordered a sushi lunch for $14, and I'm very happy! The fish are very high quality especially the salmon which is buttery smooth. Other fishes are also very fresh. (I don't think they aged their fish. I'd be surprised if they do at $14. so 'fresh' is probably the right description here.) There rice is also cooked very well, I can feel a bit of a rough texture on the rice, indicating that this may not be koshihikari rice, but more like Kakuho rose or Nishiki. It worked well tho. (The owner can confirms whether I'm right about the rice.) If there's one critique it's that the rice is way under seasoned. I don't feel any vinegar in the rice. So you gotta put a bit more seasoning to improve, in my opinion. Also the rice is a tiny bit too much. I usually like a lot of rice in my sushi, but this is probably 10% too much rice. It'd be perfect if the chef can adjust the rice down. To summarize, at $14, this is a steal. 4 stars - will recommend!

Wow, I love Miyako. First time ordering and the fish was fresh, the scallops buttery, the rice warm. Delivery was prompt and the packaging was perfect! I liked the carrot miso dressing for their salad, and will definitely be a repeat customer. So good!!

    Lunch Chicken Teriyaki
    Jonathan C.

The salmon nigiri here was delicious - the fish was fresh and thick cut, and it was decorated beautifully with slices of lemon around it. I had the chicken teriyaki lunch bento box, and it came with a lot of food! The miso soup was delicious, although it could use a little more seaweed and tofu. The salad was fresh, and I appreciate that they put the dressing on the side. The fried shrimp siu mai was not bad, and I loved the california roll, though it could use a little more rice. The chicken teriyaki was delicious - it was crisp along the edges, and the sauce was flavorful without being too overbearing.

I love this place. When it's warmer their doors are open and a nice breeze flows in. Everything on the menu is priced well. We got three rolls, seaweed salad, veggie tempura and a beer all for under $45. On the UWS, that's a deal. It's not the best sushi you've ever had, but it's good and fills the craving. Add a cold $5 beer and an nyc summer breeze and you've the perfect combo for a weekday meal.

Pork was shredded and a little dry, but the Japanese mayo and other ingredients made it very good. ++++ Green Curry Ramen - EXCELLENT curry flavor, but it wasn't too strong. Ramen was cooked perfectly and plenty of ingredients inside, including 2 slices of cha siu and a half of a soft boiled egg. ++++ Blackbeard Ramen - Also fantastic broth flavor too and same comment as above regarding their ramen. ++++ Kids Tonkotsu Ramen - At just $7, this is a steal for a kids ramen. There was 1 piece of cha siu in it, but it was excellent for a kids bowl. + Food comes out fairly quickly. + Private parking lot, but it was packed on an early Saturday evening. THE NOT SO GOOD ---------------------------- - Service was a little disappointing. ---- One (young) waitress seemed very inpatient and was a bit flustered throughout the evening. Didn't appreciate her lack of cordialness. - Interior is tight. ---- There are only 5 tables in the restaurant and all of them can accommodate 2-4 people, MAX. There is also counter seating too for about 4-5 people. - It was freeezing inside when we came in on a frigid January Saturday evening, so keep your jacket on! MIXED THOUGHTS --------------------------- = Nada. RANDOM OBSERVATIONS -------------------------------------- = We arrived at about 5:45 PM on a January Saturday evening and snagged the last available table. Strangely enough I missed trying this dish on a trip to Tokyo last year…read more I had it on the list to try but didn't get a chance given all the foodie items I had on my list. While I can't vouch for authenticity but I can vouch for a delicious bite. Sazanami Hamba-Gu is notable for their Japanese Hamburger Steak, which is a hamburger without the bun, a very popular dish in Japan. Their version was served on a platter with rice, vegetables, miso soup, and chawanmushi. The patty itself was very juicy and tender and noted on the menu as a beef and pork combination. I included some addons which made my entree far more pricer. The fried egg was a good call while the double cheese probably wasn't necessary. I got the recommended red wine demi-glacé and another with the soy onion. The red wine was better in my opinion. Also got a tonkatsu to share and while the breading was very good the pork was a little drier than other ones I've had. I'd skip the tonkatsu and stick with the Hambu-gu as that was definitely more notable. Service was friendly but the entree does take time to prepare. I'd say think twice if you are in a hurry.

The concept here centers around their hambagu which at the other location was limited per day and was served with their signature curry. We got a few appetizers and enjoyed each one thoroughly. The tartare was a standout. For mains we got red wine demiglace hambagu and the kaisondon. The hambagu was as good as I remember; juicy, tender, explosion of flavor. I would love for there to have been a curry option though as it was truly my favorite J curry in the states. The miso soup is also is different. It's more like what you'd typically find as opposed to their previous homey version. Overall very solid spot from one of my favorites.
