Went to Wolf and Lamb. Few years ago my wife was there and loved it. Not what I experienced this time. I ordered chicken soup. One would think how hard it is to make chicken soup, put chicken in the water, add salt, bring to a boil, cook for an hour. Done. Apparently whomever cooked chicken soup that I was served did not read that memo. The soup I was served was absolutely the worst soup I have ever had in my life. It got better with next coarse, but not memorable at all considering the price. $$$. read more

Came in with high expectations, especially for the ribeye, but the experience was mixed. The salad was fresh, but it did not deliver that classic Caesar profile. It lacked the bold Parmesan and peppercorn flavor that usually defines it. The fries stood out in a good way. They had great crunch and texture and were easily the most consistent item on the table. The ribeye was decent but not at the level you expect for a $90 cut. The temperature came out at a proper medium and there was a noticeable char, which added some flavor. However, it tasted like it had been reheated rather than cooked fresh. The bone was not hot and the fat was not fully rendered or caramelized, which took away from the overall experience. It was not bad, but it missed the mark for the price point. Service was good, which helped the experience. But, with so many solid steakhouse options in NYC, this is not a place I would go out of my way to return to. read more

Wolf and Lamb steakhouse in midtown East has a very diverse menu ranging from steaks to sandwiches to flatbreads/pizzas. I tried the fried pickles and the pastrami sandwich. I prefer my pastrami sandwich to have a 4:1 pastrami to bread ratio. This was definitely the opposite. Although the bread was good, I definitely wanted more pastrami. Overall good service and space but probably won't come out of my way to eat here. But I can see how it's a good option for large groups in the area given the diverse menu with many different options. read more

Had post-theatre dinner with my wife. I usually go to another nearby kosher steakhouse, but we thought we'd give W&L a try. We shared a special appetizer (pastrami wrapped around chicken and apricot). We thought it was tasty. Wife found it excessively salty. Four pieces the size of a golf ball for $34. Not exactly a bargain. Neither was the $6 (plus tax and tip) can of soda. I got the fancy burger. Ordered medium. Got medium well to well done. I thought it tasted fine. Wife begged to differ. Wife ordered the salad with a rib-eye on it after noting to the waiter a cucumber allergy. Waited said it was not a problem preparing it without cucumber. Long story short, salad arrived with cucumber, which my wife noted because she started to react to it (and pulled out pieces of cucumber). This was pointed out to the waiter. He made appropriate sounds of sympathy that my wife's $76 meal was inedible, then charged us $76 for a meal that she could not eat because it was not prepared to her specifications, as noted when we ordered. I understand that it's hard running a restaurant, and customers are demanding. My best advice, if someone says they're allergic to cucumber, and you are not 100% certain the dish will be prepared without cucumber, recommend something else. And failing that, when you screw up and serve something that you should have known the customer can't eat, don't charge them for it. That's my business advice. read more

Came here for a work lunch and was completely not impressed with the food. My work bestie and I got the short rib gnocchi. The gnocchi was literally black and crunchy. The flavor of the sauce was good but the gnocchi was just shocking. Also when one of the servers poured my water he completely missed the cup, did not apologize and did not come back to clean it up. It was pretty bizarre. A few of us also got cappuccinos which were as big as a bowl of soup and it was almost just completely lukewarm milk with a touch of a coffee flavor. I never not finish a coffee but this I took about 3 sips and couldn't do it. The desserts were the only decent part of the meal. My other colleagues agreed the food was not up to par. Last week I came across this restaurant accidentally. Was walking to catch the bus on Madison Ave. Started to rain an extremely hot day. I thought I read the board outside correctly Happy Hours...I said ok I will have one drink. Walked in sat at the bar and asked what do you have on Happy Hours and the bartender said nothing yet starts at 4pm. I said o.k. ordered an ice cold Hard Cider delicious. I'm Chillin I see the Mgr. with Yam-aka on then I said to myself I'm in a Kosher Restaurant. Indeed I was..I didn't know I was in a Kosher restaurant. Best thing I asked for the menu. I couldn't make up my mind either hamburger or a pastrami sandwich . Well a decided for the hamburger. absolutely delicious súper fresh the french fries were amazing. Bartender and Waitress were very serviceable and attentive. It's a pricey restaurant but worth it! Even if you're Not Jewish, you should definitely try it! I came here for a kocher business lunch and got the branzino with salad and the chocolate Lava cake for dessert. The entree was good enough - pan roasted crispy skin, and there was sizable roasted beets and a mash to complement it even without the salad (you get to pick a side). I have been to Wolf and Lamb several times and found the service awful This was the occasion of my girlfriend's mikvah and conversion They made it an awful night 1 We were denied a longer table on this special day because "everything was reserved" However the place was 1/2 filled throughout the meal 2 We asked for "short pasta like penne" and was given long linguini type pasta 3 The filet mignon was served on a rickety plate that kept rocking noticeably and annoyingly By the time someone came to fix it, the steak was cold and the french fries eaten Additionally we had to switch pasta dishes so would not be able to eat together unless we received fresh steak They only offered to re-heat it 4 Shai, the manager and mashgiach offered nothing to assuage our issues He stood firm, refusing a fresh steak, new fries, or even a dessert or drink for our problems Otherwise the food was as tasty though not in the same league as say SALT in Long Branch NJ and the prices atrociously high Ambience was fine, but not spectacular There was nothing Judaic There are better places for kosher food read more

So, went to wolf and lamb this evening with 3 people. My wife and 2 that were visiting from abroad. I'm really not sure why people speak highly of wolf and lamb. Now, before you go off on me about not speaking to the manager first, when you're out with people, most people don't like to make a stink. We got the fried pickles and the ribeye spring rolls (both were good). The dirty martini was a 1/5. Not chilled properly and too watery. Then things got worse, the 2 people we were out with were not religious and a filet mignon as labeled isn't a filet mignon. This should be clearly stated on the menu or call it a Delmonico cut. I got the $84 20oz cowboy rare. I get my steak and it's well done. I really hate to be that person but I sent it back because there's nothing worse than well done steak especially when you're paying $84 for a piece of meat. To be fair, they graciously accept it and send in another order. I asked the waiter whether I should change my order because of the thinness of the cut. He says no and it'll come out here. I took a pic of the steak that came because, apparently when one comes out well done the other needs to come out blue. Came for a business lunch. We needed a kosher place so this was it. I keep on hearing people mention this but it's actually my first time coming. Online booking didn't have space for seven people but calling got us the table. I got the short rib gnocchi, five got salads, one got a sandwich. It took an hour for food to arrive at our table. This is not acceptable for any lunch, let alone a business lunch. I almost wanted to walk up to a server to ask for status because no one was in sight for a long time. We joked that they must've made my gnocchi from scratch. Service was mediocre. No one really updated us when things took that long. Our water wasn't refilled frequently enough. They gave us the check soon after we got the food. I find that rude when they were the ones who took so long to get us the food. I wouldn't be offended if we were almost done eating. Purely based on food, I liked the flavor of my short rib gnocchi. The sweet potato was soft and sweet. The short rib was tender and juicy. The sauce was hearty too. I was afraid it'd be too heavy, but I didn't fall asleep after lunch so we good. Since this is my first time at a kosher restaurant, I want to comment that food didn't taste any different than how non-kosher places do to me. It's just good to know considering how I often see kosher folks get sad looking meals during events. The scene in the restaurant is good - fairly Laid back for a steakhouse. We waited a while for our order for drinks and food to be taken but when we did order the food came out trainable quick. Last minute change of plans led to a weekday lunch here, which I was not expecting. The place is well decorated and has a very rustic, cozy vibe despite its location in a very corporate midtown zone. Loved the brick wall interior as well as the fresh bouquet of flowers at the bar. Dined at the bar and had a salad (at a steakhouse, I know) and thought it was actually quite bland and dry. Obviously, not their forte but you'd think that a $45 salad would be at least better than something you can get at Whole Foods or some other salad shop. I went to Wolf & Lamb for lunch with colleagues today. I was looking forward to trying a new kosher restaurant. Unfortunately, this place is subpar. The server didn't know the menu, we struggled to get water, the staff never took our dirty plates away, even after we paid. There is a guaranteed gratuity so the servers have no incentive to try. I ordered the $52 tuna with rice and started with a $27 Caesar salad. The tuna and rice were bland and boring. Nobody at my table complained about their entrees, but most of the food at the table went uneaten. Mediocre food for a very high price. I am not sure how restaurants like this stay in business, given the number of good to great restaurants in midtown. read more

I came here recently for a business lunch and I was very surprised at how much I enjoyed my meal. I wasn't too sure what to expect to be honest as I've never been to a kosher restaurant before. I read a lot of reviews where people said the service here wasn't good so I was afraid of bad service. In fact, when I arrived, I had the opposite experience. Our server and another gentleman were so friendly and so helpful with our meal the entire time. It was really nice to experience that and the friendliness felt genuine rather than forced. Downstairs is a bit noisy and very busy at lunch. I recommend sitting upstairs since it's a bit less noisy, especially if you are on a business lunch. For appetizers we tried - rib eye spring rolls (very good and I recommend trying), fried pickles (these were okay, I've had better fried pickles elsewhere so I'd skip this since the fried part wasn't really attached to the pickle), spicy chicken pizza (this was a different take on pizza and this was good). Lamb Chops - this is what I got for my main course. I got this with the hand cut fries. I knew I wanted the hand cut fries when I saw it on the menu. I am french fry snob and I was really impressed with the fries! The fries here are the fries I like where you can really taste the potato. I love the saltiness and it was perfectly seasoned. I definitely recommend trying the fries here. As for my lamb chops, I got it medium. I was also really impressed with my lamb chops. The lamb chops weren't dry and had good bite to it. If you like lamb chops, I definitely recommend trying it. They also have Dr. Brown's soda here if you are a fan. Overall, I had a really good experience and lunch here. If you are looking for a kosher restaurant, this would be a good option. The only thing I didn't like were the prices. The dishes here are pretty pricy so I'd take that into consideration. read more

Ventured out in this ugly heat wave to lunch at W & L midtown. I usually order in from here so I'm a big fan in that way since they package everything really nicely and everything always shows up piping hot. Ordered their lamb riblet's special, which was deliciously unctuous and really liked that they didn't douse it in too much sauce so that the natural gamey lamb flavor shined. Their spiced cauliflower is so well done, just a right amount of seasoning and kick in each bite. The salmon tartare was beautifully prepared and we'll seasoned with a spicy background kick from what I think was a fresh jalapeño pepper chopped into it. Fried pickles here are my staple fave and never disappoint. Their potato carrot soup was....different. heavily seasoned with oregano, it competely hid the sweetness the carrots usually have when cooked. Our entrées were just Ok. The Salmon steak in my tarragon and arugula salad was waaaay overcooked, yes I told my server but no time to wait for another, requested medium should not have an opaque middle. The gnocchi bolognese, the gnocchi were very good but the bolognese had no body and was just a watery mess. The spicy pulled brisket sandwich, brisket was good but the bbq sauce it swam in also was lacklaster. Finished the meal with their pecan pie and a chocolate peanut butter mousse...the mousse the clear winner here especially if you're a PB addict. Hostess was really sweet and service was great once we were seated. One thing I did strongly suggest to their manager was if they anticipate that's it's going to be a busy booking day, then let the diners know when they are reserving that they have X amount of time to use their table and Not threaten diners when placing a reservation that it's a busy day and if you're late your table will be given away and then make them wait 15 min for their table when they got there with plenty of time before said reservation. With that said, this will still stay in my roster of staple good eats during the work week! read more

The reserve steak. Pepper crusted. Medium rare. Tender. Clean beef flavor (must be grain finished). But the pepper corn sauce on the side was just plain strange. Not a demiglace, it had a hard to pin down and weird flavor profile. Was it chicken glace? Something more industrial? It lived on the surface, no depth or umami. It covered the meat but didn't add to the meat. It was clear that the kitchen lacks anyone approaching a saucier. And at these prices, adding an extra .75 of product to make something decent would have gone a long way. It would show a type of caring. Alas. String beans with crispy shallots (Anerican iconic). A glass of temperanillo of mediocre quality but pleasant. A spare but acceptable interior. Service--very pleasant. Attentive but not obtrusive. Though when I ordered the reserve steak, the waiter returned and said they were out of that cut. Yet when my plate arrived, the kitchen apparently had found the final reserve. Should they have told me first and confirmed? Probably. Was it an issue for me? No. Same price after all. Which as others have mentioned here are all outrageous. But it is kosher. And it is Manhattan. And the neighborhood isn't the cheapest either. So you can't protest too much. Except for that sauce which most greasy spoon diners could surpass. read more

I came here with a coworker for lunch twice. Each time, I very much enjoy the food and service and always tell myself that this place has the best burger that I have ever had in the US (best burger ever is at a place in Prague!). I think their full menu is kosher, so this is a great option for those who prefer kosher food. For both times that I have been here, I got the tuna appetizer to share. It is small, but fresh, delicious and definitely leave you wanting for more. My favorite dish here though, is the grass fed beef burger. To start off, I am not a burger person at all. I usually hate how unnatural the meat in normal burgers taste and the weird texture of the regular burger buns. The grass fed burger here though, is extraordinary in taste. The meat tastes fresh and flavorful. It is not only cooked well, but you could tell that the quality of the meat is way above par. The buns are also delicious, definitely not the regular soggy buns. Phenomenal dish and I highly recommend ordering it. The service here is also amazing. Food comes out fast and servers were very nice and welcoming. Overall, a great dining experience. As one of the only reasonable mid-tier Kosher restaurants in the city, this establishment started out decent and has steadily declined in quality over the last few years. On a good day they're passable but incredibly overpriced. If you end up coming here for a work lunch, I'd recommend either the lamb burger or the W&L burger. Both are usually well-flavored and the cook is generally in the range of what you ordered (medium-something). The steaks on the other hand are embarrassing for steaks of any caliber, much less one in their price range. Even comped, I would likely pass on these if you've ever had a steak before unless you're a carnivore with dietary restrictions. For delivery on the other hand, this place just reeks of apathy. Working late in the area, we've had food delivered several times. Generally speaking, any sort of delivery will obviously be worse than eating in the restaurant, but you expect a bare minimum level of attentiveness and at least some semblance of communication if something is not available. They've replaced core aspects of dishes around 50% of the time including but not limited to balsamic beans with no balsamic, W&L burgers with nothing but a burger, arugula, and mint pesto (it should also come with wild mushroom, demi glaze, and crispy shallots), replacing kale with green beans, leaving out parts of orders completely, etc. Maybe it's some sort of disdain the chef has for people who make delivery orders or maybe it's just delegated to incompetent staff. Either way they're one of the only players in the area for delivered Kosher food so expectations for a reverse in this downward slide is optimistic at best until some meaningful competition shows up. read more

I came here for lunch after rave reviews by my kosher friend (I am not kosher). Sadly, I was disappointed. To start, let me say that the homemade pickles were outstanding! I love pickles and these really hit the spot. However, the actual food was sub-par. I tried: the salmon crudo, matzo ball soup, spicy chicken tenders, steak, kale ceasar, salmon, and balsamic green beans. The matzo ball itself was pretty good, but the soup was weirdly oily and the chicken was very rubbery. The chicken tenders were decent, but not at all spicy; the salmon was ehh; the steak was totally under seasoned (I am not sure how you mess up that badly); the kale ceasar was not the best I have ever had; the salmon was actually very good (well cooked and seasoned); and the green beans were a bit oily but also pretty good. I also tried the apple crumble for dessert and (for a warm tart with non-dairy ice cream) it was pretty great. I wish they put more "crumbles" on the crumble though. Overall, I wouldn't come back here. There are much better kosher places in the area, and for the price, this just isn't worth it. read more
