The restaurant is more than a diner and serves a fair amount of American cuisine along with Greek Classics in a very nice restaurant setting. Have had the lamb, pasta, and a burger, and some salads and all were delicious. One of my friends recently ordered a vegan eggplant dish and came back with meat in it twice- the restaurant was extremely apologetic and brought the correct dish at no charge. I called and ordered Lentil Soup and a Bifteki Platter to take out. They said it would be ready in 15 minutes. The restaurant is across the street from Mt Sinai Hospital. My entire experience with The Greek Kitchen was wonderful. When I went to pick up the order at 5:30 there were already a number of tables full at the restaurant. It felt relaxed and friendly. There was a buzz of lively conversation but it was not loud. I picked up my order at the bar in the back. The food was flavorful and delicious. The Bifteki Platter had three patties. We had a play to attend at John Jay and this spot was conveniently located near it. We didn't have a reservation and it was quite packed. They were very accommodating for our party of 3. The food service was pretty fast and my chicken dish tasted good. I'd say a typical Greek restaurant. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable with my allergies. This was truly some of the best Greek food I've ever had. The warm, homemade pita was perfection, and the lemon potatoes were done just right-bright, flavorful, and perfectly tender. On top of the incredible food, the service was outstanding-friendly, welcoming, and genuinely thoughtful. My husband ordered lentil soup & the chicken souvlaki dinner, instead of rice he wanted grilled veggies but they didn't have any or wouldn't replace it. The Greek Kitchen was busy throughout prime dining hours, and appears to be popular with the locals. The dining room is a bit tight. We both got the avgolemono to start. For dinner I got the baked chicken and lemon potatoes while my hubby got the chicken kebab. Both chickens were dry. So I am not sure I'd get that again. Anyone who goes to concerts near Lincoln Center it's always trying to find good restaurants within walking distance that don't break the bank. The Greek Kitchen not only checks both of these boxes, but the food is really good. Plus at 10th Ave and 58th Street, it's an easy walk. Service is prompt and attentive and if you tell them you're going to a concert, they'll make sure you have plenty of time to make it. They do the traditional Greek standbys well - spanakopita, zucchini chips, fried calamari, Saganaki (fried cheese). Portions are generous and freshly made. Last night, we had to wait for the zucchini chips to cook down to eat them. Entrees where they shine. Kritharaki,orzo with olives and fennel in a tomato sauce, is flavorful and a bit spicy. I've had two of the three bechamel baked dishes - moussaka and vegetarian moussaka, and the combination is exceptionally flavorful. The various grilled platters are also well executed - the gyro and souvlaki. Salads are fresh and well designed. I am particularly fond of their fish. The broiled bronzino, porgy and orata (bream) are exceptional, I just tend to order repeatedly. Never overdone, fresh and well seasoned. I like the salmon, but not quite as much with this simple broiling. Coffee is fresh. Good Greek coffee as you'd expect. read more

I love this restaurant. I took my daughter there yesterday and I wanted our dinner to be "perfect". It was! Everyone was so, so friendly and patient. I was seated at a nice table with the bench on one side which was perfect for my daughter who has a bad back. She was running late (and I was 10 minutes early for the reservation) and they were lovely about it. I sat at the table and they were so understanding. No rushing, constantly telling me it was ok. This place is located in SW corner of 10th Ave and 58th St. it is a pretty big place with seating inside and along the periphery outside. We did not need a reservation on Saturday night but couple of the big tables were reserved. The servers were very friendly and the service was efficient. The food was great. The hummus was probably the best I've had in a long time and I eat Greek food frequently. Saganaki was thicker than what I have seen in the past and well done. The chicken souvlaki and orzo was great. I also got a side of grilled chicken and that was 2 pieces (see photo)! Unbelievable. They gyro platter and sandwiches were great as well. On January 9th, we were a traveling school group from Los Angeles, and they printed the wrong show time on our itinerary. We were in a total rush for a party of 26, but the manager and wait staff was AMAZING! I've been to this restaurant a few times and it never disappoints. They have outside seating (though not sure in the winter), and the place is nice and clean. The prices are inexpensive for NY. The last time that I was here was on October 15 of 2023 I was served by Corina, who was absolutely great and very personable. In the past, I have had spanakopita as well as mousaka(sp?) The last time that I was here, I had the Greek salad with chicken. I also had the grilled calamari (Kalamarakia) with fish roe. This was really, really good and I cannot wait to return and have it again. Their dolmades (stuffed grape leaves) is also delicious. I never liked them until I had them here. My brother ordered the Gyro platter. The portion was very big as was my portion of food. So worth the price! On my next visit, I plan to change things up a bit. I must give some credit to my friend Rochelle who has challenged my palate with Mediterranean, Turkish, Greek and Persian cuisine. Last visit, we were caught up in the NYC Marathon and Rochelle suggested dining here. The last time I've dined in Greek food, literally, on my trip to Greece many opas ago. What was I going to try? I remember we shared an eggplant salad appetizer served with house made pita. Rochelle ordered Avgolemono soup; a Chicken broth with eggs, lemon and orzo. I ordered the Vegetarian Moussaka; layers of eggplant, potatoes, tomato sauce and spices topped with Bechemel sauce. Absolutely delicious. Today, we decided to try different dishes. It was nice to visit during Greek Easter. GK had a separate special menu offering lamb specials. Rochelle ordered the soup special which was in a broth with pieces of roasted lamb, it looked like cream of mushroom soup. Rochelle loved it. We also ordered hummus( (Revithosalata) prepared with chickpea spread with onions, garlic, olive oil and lemon served with their house made pita. Delicious! We then shared for our main meal, Makoranafa: pasta with shrimp, spinach with garlic in a white sauce. The shrimp and spinach were terrific and prepared to perfection. The platter is enough for two people to share and I took home the leftovers. The restaurant is very comfortable with a nice sail boat atop the bar, lacquered wooden tables and a very courteous staff. We stumbled upon this spot on a whim after realizing we hadn't eaten lunch while exploring Manhattan. It was conveniently on the way to our hotel, and Greek food always hits the spot when you're hungry, so it was an easy choice! It was a quiet Thursday afternoon with only a few other diners, so the atmosphere was calm and laid-back. I ordered the gyro sandwich with fries, and my wife went for the chicken souvlaki with her own side of fries. Convenient location for a quick dinner before a show at Lincoln Center. We came on a Tuesday night around 6, and the place was all but entirely empty. The space gives old school Greek diner vibes, and service was quick and attentive. We had the taramosalata dip with pita, grilled calamari, and the mixed grilled meats plate. The grilled meats were pretty good, but the calamari was tough, and the taramosalata dip tasted overpoweringly of mayonnaise. Good neighborhood Greek spot. Authentic flavors and good sized menu. There was definitely something for everyone, even a cheeseburger on the menu. That was a surprise to me. Liked the grilled octopus a lot - had a good acidity to it with the vinegar type dressing and cubed tomatoes. A pinch of lemon and the dish was complete. Good to share as well but you don't have to if you plan on making it part of a light meal. My kids really enjoyed the "fries" - I use the term loosely as they looked more like potato crisps or chips. Excellent frying and browning - they were the perfect texture of crispy edges and yet soft enough to pass as a fry despite the round shape. Other notable eats: the Spanikopita, different since this version has sesame seeds on it. I also had the branzino, which was filet style and had a crispy skin. Perfectly cooked and tasted really fresh. And lastly the moussaka - great sauce, looked like a lasagna given the shape and size. Very robust and the eggplant was delicious. Service was prompt and attentive. Staff was friendly and refilled our water quickly every time. I dropped my fork during lunch and before I could ask for a replacement, the waiter ran over to me with a new one. I was here for lunch right at the open so it was quiet at first but after it hit noon, it started getting more and more busy. Reservations are not needed but helpful if you want to score a seat in the main dining room. For smaller groups, there's an option to sit in a covered extension of the dining room. Oily, so it doesn't stick to the pita but I spooned it on. I love that I can taste the garlic! Delicious. Very garlicky. I love it! And it's a perfect portion for $9. It came with two warm pitas. The pitas were soft and yummy too! Fresh. The grilled salmon was a good portion size and grilled perfect. Excellent flavor. Arrived hot. Skin on. So good! The salad it came with was also good! Very fresh and crisp. Love the feta and dressing and oregano seasoning with some olives and cucumber. I asked for no tomato and there was no tomato. Perfect!! And it was $28. So worth it!! Chill vibes and classic Greek food- not amazing but still quite decent. I ordered the Mixed Grill platter ($25.50), which consisted of gyro (thin slices of lamb and beef), bifteki (ground beef patties), and pork souvlaki and came with a side salad and additional side (I got the greek fries), so this was a pretty good deal. The lamb and beef slices were really good- tender and flavorful yet not too oily or salty like at some other places. The bifteki was also tender and tasty. The pork pieces were a bit tough and slightly burned though. The side salad was surprisingly good with a sweet dressing and tasty feta cheese on top of the lettuce and onions. The greek fries are thin circular potato slices and were great. The place was kind of empty on a Friday night, with very casual/chill vibes inside. There are some Greek/Mediterranean vibes inside with the open layout and decor. The staff were fairly friendly/attentive, and the service speed was a bit slow but not bad. Overall, The Greek Kitchen is a decent option for Greek food in Hell's Kitchen. If you are in the area and craving some Greek food, then this could be a good option for you. read more

I was craving Mousaka and this was one of the places that offer that dish, so I came here for dinner with a friend. The interior decor is crisp, clean, as well as nautical, with blue and white color scheme, reminiscent of a picturesque town in Greece. My friend and I were served complimentary warm pita bread, which had a nice crispy fluffy consistency and lovely herb taste. For my appetizer, I had the fried calamari. There was a generous serving heaped onto the plate, with marinara sauce on the side. The calamari was perfectly crispy, light, and well seasoned with a wonderful blend of herbs and spices. I also got to try Greek salad, which consisted of lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, onion, olives, crumbled feta, dolmades (grapevine stuffed leaves filled with rice), as well as house dressing. This was a crunchy, fresh delight. All the ingredients worked well together, with the cheese adding an irresistible creaminess and the dressing had just the right amount of saltiness. Of course I ordered Mousaka for my entree, which was made with baked layers of eggplant, potato, ground beef, tomato sauce, topped with bechamel - slightly burnt and very melty, giving it an added level of yumminess. The beef was tender, juicy, while the veggies were cooked well. There was deep, bold flavor throughout the dish. I really wanted to try the Sokolatina, which is chocolate cake with almond praline and was so sad when I was told it wasn't available. My friend and I settled for the Kataifi (which I believe is no longer on the menu.) Kataifi is a baklava-like dessert, made with chopped nuts, scented with ground clove and cinnamon, wrapped into buttered, crisp dough, which is spun and made into strands, similar to vermicelli noodles, and served in lemony syrup. Absolutely delicious, this had a beautiful sweetness and crunch. Service was great! Our waiter was friendly and attentive. My friend and I both enjoyed our time here.
