A solid, affordable sushi spot in the San Ramon area. Offers a variety of traditional and specialty rolls, as well as plenty of popular appetizers. My friend and I shared the vegetable tempura and agedashi tofu to start. We loved the tempura and the variety of vegetables offered. It wasn't too oily or overly breaded, which was perfect! The agedashi tofu I could've done without - while the flavor was there, the texture was wasn't my favorite. I really enjoyed the salmon and avocado roll, as well as the spicy tuna roll. MJ can get quite busy, especially for takeout orders so anticipate a wait. The staff were wonderful and it's very easy to find parking even during peak dinner hours.

They were very busy- and worth the wait- We will be back. Inside and outside seating. An open kitchen and basic- I'm happy here . My kind of place.. the food is very good and very very reasonable prices. It was busy and the staff moved pretty quick- very nice and welcoming- The Icecream brought me back to childhood - a black n white - a half vanilla / half chocolate swirl. It was just right. Check our bill. You won't go wrong with these choices.

A few of our friends that lives near by recommended MJ Sushi's, always telling us how good it is!! We were in downtown Danville for a little stroll and decided to give them a try!! Got there about 7:30pm on a Saturday night and got a table right away outside with a nice breeze. The restaurant is in the shopping center so there are plenty of parking. BB Roll with Shrimp tempura, avocados, crab, tempura chunchy and house special sauce was very good. 10 Sashimi was very fresh. Goyza was fried perfectly. It was so good I ordered a 2nd one. Tempura Appetizer with Shrimp and Mixed Veggies good. 5 piece O-Toro Sashimi, very fresh!!! Oh, they give you chocolate vanilla soft serve ice cream for dessert for free. The prices here are VERY reasonable!!! Differently a must try!!!

Came here because of the good Yelp reviews. Friday night. Super busy. Small restaurant space and lots of people were waiting outside. We put our name down and what we thought would be maybe a 30-min wait was only 5 min. Not sure how that happened. Your first drink is free. So if you want water, a soda or beer, they don't charge you. And at the end of your meal, you can get a free soft serve ice cream cone. Free! Service is slow. They're so busy that you need to wave someone down or else they'll keep walking by you. We ordered mainly sushi rolls, tempura appetizer and agedashi tofu. Food came out at different times. Sushi came out first then a minute later, the tempura. We waited a while for my daughter's agedashi tofu to arrive. They let us know it takes a while to make it. So we waited another couple minutes, and it finally came out. Overall, food is decent. The price is affordable.

I've been to all the MJ locations and this is definitely one of the best! The sushi at each restaurant is amazing and the staff is all super friendly. I'd highly recommend all their rolls and appetizers!

I would rate the whole experience as 3.8. We had spicy tuna, the 49ers, monster roll, special salmon roll and takoyaki. Spicy tuna has a good kick to it. My kid enjoyed the 49ers Monster roll was also very good. Crispy tempura, yummy sauce. Takoyaki sauce was a bit too sweet for my taste. All the food tasted good. We had no complaints. Portion wise the fancy rolls are a bit small for the price I thought. They brought out complimentary ice cream for my kids which I thought was very nice. The place isn't very big. Probably about 10 tables inside and 3 or 4 tables outside. So it can get busy during weekends. They seem to do a lot of to go orders. Overall it was a good dinner.

So excited and happy that this nice sushi restaurant has opened right next to our neighborhood. We tried it for first time last night and enjoyed each and every roll. Ordered the baked scallop roll (highly recommend), lion roll, shrimp tempura, firecracker, warriors, BB roll (amazed at the pricing for this) and gyoza. Go try this place out and show love to this new restaurant. Wishing them good luck as they settle in and get established. We will definitely be regulars here. read more

Food was good but not what I expected. The chicken teriyaki description said it was BBQ chicken with teriyaki sauce but there were no grill marks so I think it was skinless boiled chicken. Also the teriyaki sauce had pieces of congealed sauce. Attached is a photo of my leftover chicken and congealed sauce. read more

Saw this from Yelp and decided to give it a try. Food looks really good on pictures but taste wise, it was not what I expected. Chicken karage was a little under cook and bland. The sushi rolls (49er) rice fell apart easily and the salmon was tasteless. Portion was good though. Don't think will be back. read more

Had a nice family dinner at MJ Sushi on New Year's Day. My favorite dish is the Poke Salad bowl/plate, the poke sauce is sweet, the tree type of fishes are fresh, and the portion is quite generous! The Sushi roll we had was delicious and fresh as well! The serves there were friendly and helpful especially a young lady (forgot to ask her name) who did extra work to fill up my water bottle with hot water since we had two days power outage at home. Overall the new MJ Sushi Restaurant is a great addition to the neighborhood dine-out list. Only suggestion is that GRILL the teriyaki chicken instead of fry it! read more

Place just opened. Sushi is amazing. Owner and staff are very nice and courteous to their customers. The rolls are all distinct and have their own unique flavor and traits. Other places like Yayume Sushi have rolls that look messy so you can't tell one from another and everyone tastes the same. MJ Sushi is clean too. Love the open kitchen. read more

This is a great new addition to our area! They have tons of delicious and creative sushi rolls. I love that they also have lots of creative vegetarian options since I have a shellfish allergy but still enjoy a good roll. My son loved the honey walnut shrimp roll. We had potstickers and vegetable tempura to start. Delicious. My daughters had chicken teriyaki and we shared a variety of rolls. The service was super friendly and fast. The prices are very reasonable compared to other spots in town. We will be back soon because there is so much more on the menu we want to try. Highly recommend! read more

Amazing sushi place! In my opinion, they are very quick with making the rolls. I have ordered from this restaurant twice now. Quality of food is excellent. A plus??? I really LOVE how this is one of the only restaurants in the area that is open until midnight! Typically, most restaurants around here close at 8-9. It is light, fluffy, crispy while juicy at the same time and the dipping sauce is just right. Next time I'd love to try their pork katsu. Every table tonight ordered katsu as what I observed. No wonder their katsu is featured at SF chronicle (that is how I found this place). Would love to visit again and take a drive.

First, the people that work here are lovely...however, that is not going to give me my $$$ and…read morenight back. SUSHI LOVERS BEWARE. Went here because our go-to place was closed that night. So incredibly overpriced and disappointing. Their "premium" nigiri (10 pc for $75) was not premium at all. In fact, it was worse than basic/cheap nigiri you get elsewhere. All the pieces were tiny, half of them were chewy, and not at all what the menu said they were supposed to be. For instance, the "king salmon" was "sad" salmon and garnished with some kind of orange marmalade-bizarre and gross. I had to choke down the "Wagyu" nigiri because it was so chewy. I couldn't believe how bad it all was. I should have known the dinner was doomed after I ordered their "Crab amuse," which was three pieces ($18!!) of shredded IMITATION crab wrapped in the thinnest piece of tuna you've ever seen, then placed in a weird, sweet cream sauce. Even the miso soup (which I've never received with nigiri omakase, but ok) was barely room temperature and totally watered down. Sorry, Ukai. First time here since they opened. The staff is the friendliest! Way better than Blue Gingko across the street (they suck!) The food and sushi here is made FRESH and they are quick! Loved what I ordered - shrimp tempura, Lion king, California roll, and chicken karaage. Bomb.com (delicious af). The sweet chili sauce is a winner!! Prices are the best compared to paying $18+ at other places like blue gingko which are completely overpriced mediocre quality. This place is my new favorite sushi spot, hands down. The fact that they close at midnight is awesome compared to 90% of places out here that close at 9pm. The first round of drinks and beers are free which is a perk! Glad I finally came here. MJ Sushi has honestly become my go-to whenever I'm in this part of Danville and craving sushi. The rolls are always fresh and super tasty. Perfect when those late-night sushi cravings hit. The staff is really friendly and quick. I've called in a few times and my order's always been ready right when they said it would be. Service is fast, but the food still tastes like it was made with care. Prices are about the same as other sushi spots around here, but what makes this place stand out for me is that I can walk there from home. That alone is a win. All in all, it's a chill, reliable spot with great sushi and even better convenience. I'll definitely keep coming back. read more

Be it the East Bay location or the one out in Silicon Valley, MJ Sushi rocks! They are open late, very late for the area. Staff is always friendly and professional. Prices are very reasonable. Just to note, there's at least two other sushi places around here, with one across the street and one just down the street in the shopping center next to this one, there' no shortages of sushi spots here. However, with Senro Sushi, if you want affordability it's probably one of the more affordable ones out of all 3 in this area. The place itself is pretty big, with lots of seating inside and very spacious all around with a pretty massive sushi bar area. They are staffed well overall, as even when you go in the morning there's usually a couple of servers at least, and several sushi chefs behind the sushi bar counter area, prepping fish, cutting, making sushi and etc. The service here is pretty good overall. Haven't had any issues. The menu here is, pretty big. They have a bit of everything that's not just sushi options of course. I've tried several things here already, so let me just go through each thing. The lunch bento is probably the best bang for your buck here. Compared to the other sushi spots, you won't be able to find one as cheap as them, and the amount of stuff you get here with it is pretty good too. This bento box does come with miso soup and also a tasty salad (dressing is yummers). You will also get a California Roll with it, which is amazing because their California here is actually quite tasty. One of the better ones hands down. You have the option to choose two other things from the menu (if you choose to go with 2 items), and decide what you want. I've tried the chicken teriyaki, the chicken katsu, and the tempura. All have been good. Hands down what you should get if you're here at that time on a weekday. The Agadashi tofu was just okay. Wasn't terrible, but felt their dashi was really bland, and the tofu itself wasn't fried that well. It needs to be more crisp to avoid it just falling apart when moist. Also, the batter they used just didn't have any flavor to it at all. It was okay. The sushi roll we got was yum. I don't really have much else to say about it other than that it was good. The fish was fresh, the spicy fish was good, and the sauces blended well. Good. The chicken egg don was not great. We had actually mistakenly ordered this instead of the katsudon, and this was just awful. The chicken didn't feel well cooked, the broccoli was just straight steamed with no sauce on it. The egg was overcooked, and not even remotely fluffy for what this is supposed to be. Just overall not at all what I had expected. Overall, Senro is a great spot for affordable sushi options in this area in San Ramon. While it's not going to offer anything super flashy, which the sushi spot in the shopping center across the street may offer, it's also going to be much less of a bill here when all said and done. The bento boxes are hands down the best option here for those here on a weekday lunch. The sushi rolls here are also great. Some of the other stuff we had were just, okay, but overall, was a nice experience here right near the Crow Canyon freeway exit.
