They also may not be the "low price leader" in quoting a repair. But they guarantee any repair. I just brought in to them a 6 month old watch that had a hard-to-turn crown. I had taken it first to another place that told me they fixed it but that it was corroded and needed some winding to loosen it up. I discovered it was a quartz watch that needed no winding. The place unscrupulously had charged me $68 for the so-called repair. Chicago opened it up for me while I was there and found a gnarly rubber gasket that I had probably messed up myself trying to wind a battery powered watch. The technician should rightly have called me an idiot but instead just fixed it in 2 minutes, He did not want to charge me anything. I insisted on giving him at least a $20 tip which he reluctantly but appreciatively accepted. This is the kind of business I respect and will patronize again and again going forward.

After getting our appraisals and getting our jewelry back, the watch they appraised and cleaned was…read morerunning very slow. It was not that way when I dropped it off for appraisal. We paid $50 extra to have the watch cleaned, so assumed they were cleaning the entire watch. When I called to ask if they could take a look at and fix the watch, they told me to bring it in and they would quote me for the fix. I pushed back and they said this happens sometimes - a watch will be cleaned and coincidentally will develop an unrelated problem. That's when I asked if something could have happened when they cleaned the watch. I was told they only cleaned the band and not the watch itself. This was not what was explained when I agreed to the cleaning. Simply stated, they asked if I wanted the watched cleaned for another $50. I think they probably meant the band but that wasn't how it was proposed to me. The quote was $275 to fix it, I find it is very odd that you drop off a perfectly working watch for appraisal and the timing mechanism develops a problem while just sitting there. I don't understanding but will give Daniel's the benefit of the doubt and agree it must have just been bad timing. I'm still happy with Daniel's Jewelry overall but have to knock off one star for the confusion around the appraisal followed by the repair.

They told me they could not in good faith repair my ring without doing the seating repair as well and it would cost a few hundred dollars. Then they told me to first reach out to the small business it was from, because they would likely fix it for much less or even free. I did as they suggested and the original jeweler is repairing the seating issue for free, and the prong for $40. I have since gone back to have a different gold ring and a silver bracelet repaired and they did excellent work on both. Honest, friendly, and reliable--Bryn Mawr has our business for life!
