Great place to go for any fried rice craving. The beef fried rice can come spicy or not. Meat seems pretty fresh and not too tough like a lot places I've been. You can also go chicken, shrimp or simply veggie. Seating is quite as satisfying though since most ppl just use seating area to wait for to-go. read more

This place had such great reviews, and maybe I need to give it another chance but not sure I can... My boyfriend was craving Chinese food, and being new to this side of Dallas, I looked up places nearby and found this had excellent reviews, so he picked up an order to go and brought it home for us. I had him get me sweet and sour chicken with fried rice because that's usually my "safe" go-to option when trying a new place. I mean, it's basically chicken nuggets and pretty consistent across most Chinese restaurants. Well for starters, when I opened the box, the chicken was completely smothered in the sweet and sour sauce. This may seem obvious given that it's sweet and sour chicken, but I've never had the sauce served directly on top of the chicken when it's ordered for delivery/carry out, and even when dining in, it's typically served on the side or as a nice drizzle or light coating to keep the chicken nice and crispy. So not only was my chicken drenched and soggy, but it was also NEON RED!! I was afraid to even take a bite at first, but my sheer hunger and desperation for protein made me push through. To be fair, the flavor of the sauce was fine, but I still couldn't get over the bright color and soggy breading. Oh, and the fried rice -- sadly bland and underwhelming. Perhaps their other specialty rices are better (versus the generic side rice w/meals), but considering how something so simple and a standard staple at most Chinese restaurants could be so far off, I'm not feeling too encouraged to give it another try. My only issue is they try to nickel and dime you for condiments and refills. I wanted chili sauce and said it will 38 cents, sweet and sour sauce 11 cents, refills extra. In a nutshell, this place is primarily a Chinese sit in and take out strip mall joint with random chicken items like chicken tenders and fried catfish/shrimp. You'd think that by the name, this place is all about chicken, and while it does have many varied chicken choices, like all your staple chinese restaurant chicken dishes (general tao, sesame, orange, sweet and sour, cashew, etc), there's also at least six different flavors of wings, chicken tenders which are battered in fish fry batter interestingly enough. And don't be fooled into thinking they don't have other proteins, because they have a slew of pork and beef chinese dishes. Prices are cheap (wings at $1), nightly specials for $5.99, and the portions are huge. Everything was hot and tasty. I got the combination fried rice as my side, and it was pretty good. Certainly above average for chinese take out because it had a lot of chicken, beef, shrimp, and water chestnuts. The general tao's chicken, however, was 3 stars. Nothing spectacular but would do again for the price and convenience if I am ever in the area again and need a guilty quick chinese food binge. read more

I had my boyfriend go pick up dinner for us here. Combination Lo mein, Beef and Broccoli, and Orange Chicken, it's our standard order at any Chinese place and it's typically foolproof. Today it wasn't, it just sucked. I could smell something wrong with the beef and broccoli but still gave it the benefit of the doubt and tried it. That meat was FUNKY. I don't know if it's old, or the sauce they used to marinate it was too old or the broccoli was bad but it was inedible. The orange chicken was decent, but just heavily breaded and sauced that it was a lot for a bite. The Lo mein was the best thing because it had delicious noodles and even then I was hesitant because of the beef and broccoli inside it. I had one small plate and tried everything, but after everything we had to throw out 75% of the food. It's such a shame, but better to throw it out then get food poisoning. We did like the egg rolls, our little one said her fried shrimp was good and the service was great hence the 2 stars, but we'll never eat there again. read more

The food is good, but they do not take phone orders. This means you have to go there, place your order, and sit-down and wait. Who has that kind of time to waste? Every other chinese take-out place, that I have ever used, takes phone orders. So, when you get there, you can pay and go without the delay. I stopped there because I really wanted some chicken strips. I've had the original c&r off bucker which is a similar establishment. I was skeptical when I walked in because there wasn't anyone there and the chicken strips looked like they had been out awhile. I ordered, it came out to be 6.71, which is pretty high compared to the other place. They also make you pay for your sauces. Anywho I got my food walked out and sat in the car to get a quick bite before I drove off. My Gah, it was disgusting! The batter around the chicken strip was so soft and what makes it worse is it was beer batter so I know that means it was sitting in grease. I could taste the grease as well. In addition, it was bland as heck. It had no flavor at all. I tried to look past it and stick it in some sweet and sour sauce. Still trash! So I took it back and got my money back. When I told the girl at the counter she tried to act like she couldn't refund it. I asked to speak to the manager but when she went to the back and talked to him, he never came to the front . My wife and I bought dinner from here, last night. We bought the Kung Pao shrimp and Beef and Bell pepper. The Kung Pao shrimp had maybe 4 tiny, salad shrimp in it. The majority of the meal consisted of sauce and carrots. If we wanted stew, we would have went to an American restaurant and bought stew. Will definitely "not" be ordering from MJ's again! read more
