    Salt & Pepper Pork Chop

Pork belly, orange beef, and green beans are always musts. Scallion pancakes, salt and pepper pork chop, and sesame bun are good too.

I've been frequenting Dallas lately and I would say I'm a regular now. This is a Taiwanese restaurant, with a separate and fantastic vegetarian menu, albeit in Mandarin - ask for it and use Google translate. The translation is funny but it's good enough for me to be able to order - check out one of my pics. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Don't let the dated furniture and decor deter you from eating here.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I understand it's been here for 26 years so that should say something. Good flavors (authentic Chinese or Taiwanese) and I can request pure vegetarian, no onion no garlic. My faves: Salt and pepper mushroom- this is a must try; even non-veg boyfriend loves and dreams about it; order with low salt if needed Water spinach Bitter melon with black bean sauce Mustard greens Service: great! Only 1 person but efficient Speed: food comes out quick usually from the time of order (when I go, there's not a lot of people) Ingredients: consistently fresh and top notch Tap water: not that great but better with ice Price: not cheap but it's very fair for the servings, flavors and ingredients (and you probably can have as much rice as you want - in my state they skimp on rice)

    Combo Lo Mein

It had been a few years, but I went back tonight. Combination Lo Mein, which is usually flavorless or with spaghetti noodles, was on-point. Proper noodles, good flavor, and the meats weren't rubbery like some places. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Unassuming spot in Richardson, but I like the quiet vibe on a Sunday.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service was attentive and friendly. My friend got the Szechuan Beef, I tried a piece, and that was great too.

Tofu and fish in garlic sauce

Tried out this recommended Chinese restaurant by words of mouth. It was first a little hard to pinpoint its exact location on Google but it's right across from Kirin Court. The place has been around for a long time, from the appearance of it, outside and inside, and the service and food must be good to stay in business for this long. I tried ordering the crispy oysters and a beef dish but for that night surprisingly they did not have both proteins. I ended up getting their signature tofu fish in garlic sauce. The flavors were great and the dish went very well with steamed rice. The only suggestion I had was to not thicken the sauce too much and cut up the fish fillets just a little more. The lady servicing the dining room was nice and [[HIGHLIGHT]]sadly it was a slow, Monday evening.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

If you're in the mood for authentic Chinese cuisine without the frills, this place is a must-visit. [[HIGHLIGHT]]While the decor and ambiance may feel outdated, that's part of the charm for a restaurant that has been serving satisfied customers for 26 years.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I've been coming here for a decade, and it's never disappointed. The star of the menu has to be the sinful pork belly--absolutely delightful and bursting with flavor. Despite the no-frills setup, the food quality keeps you coming back. A meal for two, including water, came to a very reasonable $32. If you're looking for an unpretentious spot with consistently good food, this is it. Highly recommended!

No frills, just some awesomely legit Taiwanese food. I wish I could buy gallons of their hot and sour soup because it may just be the best that I've had (ahem, except for in Taiwan). It's traditional but also when a hint of sesame oil that I was NOT expecting. Well done! Along with that, greens and shrimp egg rolls, we sprung for the fish in garlic sauce and it hit the spot. It's enough for about five to six people and comes with a savory sauce that you can use for leftovers along with many piece of tofu. You can get the head and tail too, insert chef's kiss here!

My family and I love "hole in the wall" places, but this was bad. I'm giving it 2 stars because the waitress was nice. * Interior: old and grungy, even "hole in the wall" places look worn but not gross--you know? * Cleanliness: as mentioned it was pretty outdated but overall clean, however the waitresses apron was the worst I've ever seen. But she was sweet! Also the cups added an old dingy taste to the water like everything came from the 80's... * Food: my family and I will go 40 minutes out of our way for good Chinese food but wanted to try this place out because it's closer but it wasn't that good. My Sesame Chicken had some good pieces but most tasted old like they picked up day old chicken from the store?... Honestly just tasted like leftovers. But the rice was good! Overall, I'm not sure why this place had such good reviews and kept giving it the benefit of the doubt. I kept thinking, are the reviews friends and family? Mostly disappointed by how far it was from the reviews so wanted to throw this out there to anyone.

sizzling tofu, twice cooked pork, mustard greens and bean curd

Not sure why I always pass by this place and have never gone in but I'm sure glad I did! The quick overview: - Small, unassuming shop that has a mini parking lot. Directly across the street from Kirin Court - The inside feels like its from the 90's and reminds me of home - The main lady (owner?) was very polite and provided great service - Entrees are fairly reasonably priced between $10-$15 per dish with a large portion - They are "famous" for their "sesame pancake" which looks to be huge and filling, but probably good if you have enough people. Note: they say it takes ~40 min to make so order ahead What we got: Seafood Soup for 4 (~$10): Small amount of shrimp in an otherwise tasty soup Twice cooked pork: Fairly standard dish, pieces of pork belly weren't overly fatty - Mustard greens + bean curd: This was surprisingly a lot more flavorful than I expected it to be and was a winner - Sizzling tofu: Delicious sauce, huge pieces of tofu and other veggies, another winner - Black bean stir fried squid: This was the only reason it's a 4 star for now. This dish was an absolute miss (consensus) - would not recommend this one. Solid place for a great lunch!

This place is absolutely made for a group outing, and we're already planning to come back with a group to take full advantage. The food was a delight. The Singapore noodles had this wonderful curry flavor that I absolutely loved, and the combo fried rice was just as satisfying. We also ordered the Peking duck (P1 on the menu). It was good, though not quite as flavorful on its own as we'd hoped. That said, once you load it up with the hoisin, cucumber, and spring onions, it all comes together beautifully. The bao buns that came with it were soft and delicious, honestly a highlight. We also sipped on hot jasmine tea throughout, which was the perfect, refreshing complement to the whole meal. A solid spot with great vibes, tasty dishes, and room to grow on us even more with a return visit.

If you live in the area, it's a quality spot to get your soup dumpling fix. My Overall Rating - 3 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere - Located in a strip mall with plenty of parking, the first thing I noticed was Chef Sun's was very busy (great sign). The restaurant itself wasn't very memorable, and the table we sat at was next to a drink fridge and lots of traffic. 1/2 Star. Service - The staff at Chef Sun's was great, especially for a busy Chinese restaurant. The staff proactively kept our glasses full of water and were always on hand to help. Once we placed our order, food just kept coming from the staff as each dish was brought out piping hot and fresh. 1 Star. Food - The Xa Long Bao (soup dumplings) were nice and plump, freshly cooked and super-hot. This was the best part of the meal. The traditional Chinese dishes like their noodles were all a bit oily for my taste. Thee two appetizers - fried shrimp (very safe choice) were crispy without being greasy and the red dipping sauce was more sweet than spicy. And the spicy edamame was good. Overall plenty of good, but nothing super memorable. 1 Star. Will I Return? - Only if I'm in the area and I want soup dumplings. Chef Sun's Noodle & Dumpling has some oily noodles and great dumplings. I wouldn't go out of my way to visit here, but now that I know they exist, I'll stop by next time I want soup dumplings. 1/2 Star.
