The dumplings are the reason I keep coming back. I've honestly only ordered the dumplings here, and every single time they're a hit. It's been three times now! Perfectly cooked, packed with flavor, and the kind of dish you immediately start craving again a few days later. I can't speak much to the rest of the menu because once I find something this good, I stick with it. My only complaint has nothing to do with the restaurant but parking in Greenville can be a challenge. But the dumplings are absolutely worth the effort. If you're visiting for the first time, do yourself a favor and order the dumplings. I'll definitely be back for them again.
Ugh I really wanted this to be good. I had found this place on tik tok and saw a couple of good reviews. I'll start with the positives: the service was great, wait staff was very attentive and quick to serve us. The atmosphere was wonderful 10/10 interior design, I love how you can see the dumpling making process from a window. However, the food was just not that great. Very thing was very mid. The only thing I kind of enjoyed was the soup dumplings.
This place should definitely be rated higher because I always have a great experience whenever I visit (3 times so far) and the food and drinks are very memorable. The past two times I've visited, I ordered the Chow Mein noodles with chicken add on and I try not to eat them too fast because that's how good they are! In the past I've also ordered the scallion pancake and it was so flavorful and crispy, a well balanced appetizer for sure. Lastly I highly recommend ordering the Lucky Cat Shot, which has jasmine infused golden eagle vodka mixed with pandan rice milk. It's so delicious, creamy, and served in a cute teapot and cups for sharing amongst the table. It serves about 3-4 people.
Came here on a whim after work one day because we were feeling like sweet n sour chicken. We branched out and also tried the dumplings. All of the food was extremely delicious and the service was amazing. The whole place has a calming atmosphere with a cool area where you can observe people making the dumplings by hand. 10/10
I've been to the location in Irving, so I wanted to try out the one in Dallas. This place definitely has a Dallas vibe (can't really describe it, but you know it when you see it). The prices were definitely more expensive than i remember, but the food came out relatively quick. The xiao long baos were really good. The soup was flavorful and the dumpling skins weren't too thick. The chili wontons were delicious as well. The scallion noodles were about what I expected. We also got the green beans and those were yummy too.
Another great experience at Fortune House Chinese Cuisine and it continues to be one of my Greenville go-tos! We arrived toward the end of happy hour (3-6 PM) and were able to order several items at happy hour pricing, including dumplings and half-priced signature cocktails. The value during HH is hard to beat! Beautiful, well-balanced cocktails at half off makes it an easy yes! They also offer a daily reverse happy hour starting at 9 PM. Everything we ordered: Orange Chicken Salted Egg Yolk Prawns (first time ordering) Tea Smoked Duck (first time ordering) Beef Chow Fun Snow Pea Leaves Pan Fried Pork Buns Pork Xiao Long Bao Crab Rangoon Everything was delicious as usual! Tea smoked duck was good but personally I prefer Peking duck. The space has a chill, moody lounge vibe that works just as well for dinner with friends as it does for date night or even a solo seat at the bar. Parking nearby is fairly easy, which is always a plus on Greenville. A special shoutout to our server, Daisy. She was attentive, friendly, and made sure our timing with happy hour was seamless. Service like that makes the experience even better! Definitely a repeat spot for us!

My displeasure with Fortune House's quality and service is based on repeated experience. I don't typically leave negative reviews, especially as someone who is active on Yelp. I would have let this slide if it happened once. I ordered through Uber Eats, and this is now the second time the fried rice I clearly paid for with both entrees was missing from my order. After the first time, I called to let them know, and the response was dismissive. When it happened again, I called again and got the same lack of concern. At that point, it's not a mistake, it's a pattern. At these prices, basic order accuracy and customer service should be a given. As for the food, it's average at best. It doesn't even reach Panda Express level in terms of consistency or flavor, which makes the pricing even harder to justify. I don't see the value here, and based on repeated issues and the lack of accountability, I wouldn't recommend.
Crispy Cucumbers, Chili Wontons Solid classic dishes! Was craving the cucumbers and thankfully doordash had a buy 1 get 1 free deal. Yummy wontons too
The BEST beef and broccoli I have ever tasted, and my friend agreed. The beef AND the broccoli were so so tender, and the sauce was just perfect. So, we shared the pork xiao long bao (six steamed pork dumplings in broth) were TDF! And, for the holidays the pastry was in red and green! We also shared two lunches ($15 each). Obviously, the B&B and the sesame chicken as well (very tasty). Served with choice of soup (we both went with hot & sour which had such amazing flavors!). The lunches are served with fried rice (really dry) and a veggie spring roll. Fun to watch the dumpling masters make them in a glass room...they are skilled. Also nice to see they have SPACE to move vs the world-famous Din Tai Fung (that has got to be a fire/health hazard - yikes!). We sat at the bar and our server was sub-par at best. Nice, just not 'on it'...didn't offer the lunch menu, had to ask for the sweet & sour sauce for the spring rolls, and overall just not very attentive. He had 4 customers at the bar. Overall, I will definitely be back!
Came in as they were opening for lunch. When I walked in, the hostess was still trying to set up, there was a family ahead of me and after she got them seated and came back, she asked me if I had a reservation. Not to be funny but the place is empty and it's just me. I tell her no, that I'm here for lunch and she's talking to other employees while trying to get me taken care of. She starts walking and didn't say anything (follow me, let me show you to your table), so I said "follow you" and she says "yes". I get seated, look at the menu and I realize that I don't have a lunch menu. Adam my server comes over, fills my water glass and tells me he will give me a moment to review the menu, however I ask him for a lunch menu which he goes and grabs for me. I order the General Tso's chicken with white rice, the hot and sour soup, and an egg roll. The soup came out first and it was served with wontons. The soup was more sour than hot. I added some soy sauce to balance out the soup and then really enjoyed it. Adam asked me if I would like another bowl but at this point I was anticipating my meal so I declined (hindsight, I should have gotten another soup!) The meal came and I will say I was a bit disappointed. The chicken didn't have much flavor and the rice was dry. I asked Adam by chance was this left over rice and he reassured me it had just been cooked and stated that it may have not been mixed and I got rice from the top which tends to be drier. I love egg rolls, I did not love or even like their egg roll. It was crunchy on the outside which was great however I didn't know if it was undercooked on the inside or what was inside it but it was not to my liking. I asked Adam about their tea service and he explained in great depth about the service, which I greatly appreciated as I was planning on coming back with a group of ladies who enjoy tea. He also informed me that they offer a simple syrup for the tea vs sugar which is good to know. I tried the green tea and if you like green tea, you'd probably like this. Now I can go on and on about Adam, he was a great server and very knowledgeable, friendly, honest and helpful. The key for me is will I go back . . . And honestly I'd go back for the soup and would try something else.
Fortune House is our go-to spot for takeout Chinese food, it always hits the spot when the craving hits! My favorite dish is the General Tso's chicken; it has amazing flavor with just the right amount of spice and sauce. The sesame chicken is another winner. We usually get the fried rice on the side, though it can be a bit lacking in flavor at times. This time we tried the fried pork buns and weren't the biggest fans, though I know a lot of people love them. We typically do pickup and the host's are always quick with getting orders out. I really like the vibes and location of the restaurant, it's such a solid dinner spot when you don't feel like cooking. Highly recommend if you're in the mood for Chinese and close by!
Such an amazing place for some really good Chinese. Their handmade dumplings are a must try as well as their spicy string beans. Portions are pretty big so you'll likely leave with leftovers which is never a bad thing!

Fortune House is located on Greenville Avenue, which is a major entertainment district in Dallas. This area has a lot of restaurants, bars, boutique stores and music venues. It was difficult to find parking! We persevered and found free parking within walking distance of Fortune House. Lively atmosphere and the soup dumplings are delicious! We had to place additional orders because they were THAT good. We sampled: - Crab rangoon - Pork xiao long bao (soup dumplings) - Beef noodle soup - Fish filet with wine sauce - Zha jiang mian (fried sauce noodles) - Wonton soup - Fried rice I uploaded 32 photos, although I'm pretty sure Yelp won't include them all with my review. read more

We stopped here after a day of walking around and it totally hit the spot! I had the broccoli chicken, my friend had the basil chicken, both were super flavorful with perfectly tender chicken. Portion sizes were just right for lunch when you don't want to lug leftovers around. We also tried the soup buns great flavor, though they did fall apart a little quicker than expected. The outdoor ambience on a crisp fall day was perfect, and the inside is even cooler. Service was professional, kind, and on point. Our first time dining at Fortune House was incredible! Service here was very attentive, thorough, and friendly. - For our starter plates, we had the Pork Xiao Long Bao and the Scallion Pancakes, both were delicious. The Scallion Pancakes were very crispy. - For our main, we had the half order of the Tea Smoked Duck, which was very flavorful and was served with soft buns. The duck had a lot of bones, so some of the pieces were more bone than meat, but overall, it was a good portion of duck. - For dessert, we had the Custard Buns, which were egg custard-filled buns and were so flavorful and not too sweet. It was the perfect dessert! - The cocktails here are so great! The classic Fortune-tini was one of the best lychee martinis I've had in Dallas. read more

A fun restaurant with a nice patio in front along Greenville Ave. The menu includes a nice variation of dishes and offers very good dumplings including soup dumplings. Ashleigh is a very nice and attentive server and made our meal even more enjoyable. read more

We've gotten to go a few times but also really enjoyed eating in for the soup dumplings- my boyfriends favorite and some tea! It's cute inside and I also head they had a great happy hour! The salt and pepper shrimp was okay, beef chow mein, pork soup dumplings and king pao chicken are great! read more
We always loved the Irving location and this was our first visit to the Dallas Fortune House! The vibe is definitely newer, trendier, modern and their bar was full of patrons on this afternoon. Parking is directly behind the restaurant so you may need to walk some. The food was just as great as the Irving location. Everything was on point. Favorite dish today was the green beans, so much flavor in those bites! We always get the soup dumplings and. They never disappoint. Our waitress was attentive and kind and recommended our drinks. read more

Horrible service but tasty food. We really loved the decorations and vibe of the restaurant, but we were sad to have such terrible service. After our drink order, we sat for 40 minutes before we had to go find another server to take our order. The food didn't take too long to prepare, but they also brought out the wrong dish. The food itself was very good and we enjoyed our meals. Maybe worth a try again, we did not go on a busy night so not sure what happened. read more
Great ambiance and place was packed even on a Monday night. I really enjoyed the spicy string beans and three cup chicken. Flavor was good and portions were just right. I thought the stir fry Shanghainese rice cakes was too wet and portion size too small. It was mostly bean sprouts and barely any rice cakes. The tea smoked duck was a bit drier than I would like. I like how some of the dishes came with rice. Service was great and the price is reasonable. read more
I really wanted to give this place a higher rating, but too many things went wrong. For starters, we were sat in a section of the restaurant that apparently had 0 air circulating. Our entire table got extremely hot and this was before our entrees were brought out. There were flies all over (probably due to the heat) so we had to continuously shoo them away while eating. I ordered the General Tso's Chicken, which was a 10/10; I highly recommend. The side of "fried rice", however, was sub par. It had zero taste and no seasoning. I don't think I've felt disappointment like this in a while. If I ever come back, the General Tso's may be the only reason why. read more

This place was so cool and gives off Chinese restaurant vibes but modernized and chic. Love the interior and exterior. Food was pretty good but a bit salty for my taste. My friend and I was in the area and got hungry so we stopped by here. Service was great! We ordered the orange beef, general tsao chicken, bok choy, and fried gyoza. Not too bad for Americanized Chinese food. Definitely check it out. If I'm in the area, I would come back. Great for small and large groups! Better for bigger parties. Definitely a vibe. Was visiting from out of town and a friend recommended this spot so we went and checked it out. Honestly wasn't expecting much but I was decently surprised! We ordered a pork and crab XLB, salt and pepper pork, spicy string beans, and chow fun. The pork & crab XLB were probably the best I've ever had in terms of temperature, flavor, and texture. I used to frequent Din Tai Fung and other spots, and I've had my fair share of XLB either being too hot, too cold, too hard, too chewy, or not enough soup inside. I feel like these were perfect all around and tasted good as well. Everything else we ordered was pretty average but we still enjoyed! The ambiance is cool too, and service was good. Would definitely come back next time I'm in town. read more

Went here for a little cheeky date night this past Saturday and genuinely had the time of my life. There are two locations one in Irving and one in Dallas. The woman I was going with was a bit hesitant because of an alleged bad experience at the Irving location, but everyone I personally know who has dined here has had nothing but great things to say. I can't speak for other nights of the week, but I HIGHLY recommend making a reservation. When we arrived, there were roughly 17-20 people waiting outside for a table (at least from what I could gather). Reservation times also seem to be a bit flexible; we were about five minutes late and had no issues being seated. I do recommend arriving about 15 minutes early, though parking in Greenville is its own saga. I was terrified we'd miss our reservation, so I gave in and used the valet. Only $20 for the whole night, and absolutely worth the peace of mind. I'm not sure if parking is always like this, but the weather was perfect that evening, so the area was packed with people out and about. Once inside, the atmosphere was warm, cozy, and inviting. The lighting was perfect, not too bright, not too dim. What surprised me (and what I loved) was how thoughtfully spaced out the tables were. It created the feeling of a private dining experience. Honestly, we couldn't even hear the conversation at the next table. I even laughed to myself because the restaurant gave me the same vibe as the one from Freaky Friday. I wish I could remember our server's name because she was phenomenal she was so funny and so attentive. As soon as we sat down, I told her, "I'd like the Fortune Tini, and keep them coming please." And she absolutely did. These cocktails were incredible. They're meant to taste like lychee, but my apparently unsophisticated palate only picked up apple and honestly, I loved them. Now, the food... I was obsessed. I'm a creature of habit when it comes to Chinese cuisine, so I went with the General Tso's Chicken. The portion was generous, arguably enough for two hungry people. It was spicy, sticky, and perfectly balanced. I didn't need to add a single thing to it, and it will absolutely be my go-to order every time I come back to Fortune House. We did order the crab rangoons as an appetizer. They weren't my favorite, not because they were bad, but simply because the flavor wasn't to my liking. I think it might've been the peppers in the cream cheese mixture? Just personal preference. All in all, this place was amazing, and I truly hope I become a regular. Came here on a last minute dinner on a Monday. I was surprised how busy it was. Still didn't have. To wait but good for them on the busy Monday service. The sever was so nice and we asked her all the things to eat. Got a bit of all. We had to try the dumplings we were not disappointed in the food. I'd been hearing about Fortune House through their reverse happy hour promos forever, and it finally got me through the door. TBH I've walked past this place on Greenville Ave so many times and never knew what it was -- and I really wish I had gone sooner. The food did not disappoint. We started with the chili wontons and crab rangoons, and both were awesome. The crab rangoons are genuinely the best I've had in Dallas -- and the portions were so generous that me and my friend almost got full just off the appetizers. I got the Honey Beef with buns for my entree and it was so good. My friend got the Honey Walnut Prawns and those were fried to perfection -- crispy, flavorful, no notes. For drinks, we both got the Empress cocktail and then ended up getting espresso martinis later in the night. Both were really good. I will say -- the drinks are strong, so take that for what you will! The ambiance is really nice, they have a cute little patio, and our waitress was super amazing and patient. She was really helpful with picking items off the menu too. I also saw Smoked Duck on the menu and I'm definitely getting that next time. Highly recommend, especially if you're looking for something relatively nice but really good on Greenville Ave. Just don't walk past it like I did! read more
