I really wanted to support this business since I'm new to the Fayetteville area and my boyfriend recommended we try MJ's Smoke and Grill today. Unfortunately, our experience left a very bad impression. When we arrived, we were greeted and began placing our order. I ordered the beef chopped cheese without the bun, and my boyfriend asked if they could make a chicken chopped cheese instead. The response we received was repeatedly, "We don't have that on the menu." We understood that it wasn't listed, and the employee did recommend the chicken wrap, which was basically the same ingredients in a wrap instead of on a bun. What disappointed us was not necessarily being told "no," but the tone and attitude used while speaking to my boyfriend. The interaction felt very standoffish and unprofessional. Even the cook in the back asked if there was a problem because the conversation had become uncomfortable. I work in the customer service industry myself, and there's always a respectful and professional way to communicate with guests, even when accommodating a request isn't possible. We've been to plenty of restaurants where simple substitutions are made as a courtesy, especially when the ingredients are already available. All that would have changed was replacing the wrap with bread. Again, I understand policies and menu limitations, but the delivery and attitude made the experience unpleasant. To make matters worse, when I got home and started eating my food, I found paper inside my chopped cheese sandwich. I do have pictures of it. We were genuinely trying to support a Black-owned business in the area, but after how we were treated, we won't be returning. Respectful customer service goes a long way, and unfortunately that was missing from our experience today. read more

Wish I was better at food photos, but the one I'm adding to this is going to have to do. It's a travesty that there aren't hundreds of reviews for this place. You can't tell me the word hasn't got out for them. I like burgers, but they're certainly not my go-to because the idea of them is always better than the burger actually is. I've had some pretty great burgers, even. The one I got from here, though, has to be THE best burger I've ever had. The flavor was unexpected and amazing. And with how thick the patty was it was enough to satisfy, but I could definitely go for another just because it tasted so good. My kid got a meal with fries (I really wanted to try the mac and cheese, but was trying not to spend too much, I'll get to the great price, later). The fries were seasoned well and a great texture if you like them on the softer side, which I do. The service was just as great. The woman who took my order was patient, kind, friendly, and helpful. I don't always do well visiting new restaurants, but she made everything so easy. The place was immaculate! You can tell they take pride in cleanliness. Now for the price. It's about the same as you'd find at most burger places with bigger burgers. My son got just the plain Rub My Belly Burger with American cheese as a meal with fries and a soda. I got the same burger, but with onions. It all came out to $23 and some change. Now I wish I had gotten a meal myself so I could have gotten a side of that mac and cheese. I'm a picky person about mac and cheese and their's looked really good. I have a feeling it would be the best I've ever had. The meal, on the menu we looked at said $12 (maybe $12.50). Just the burger was $8, possibly extra for the onions. I didn't check to see how much extras would be. Unless the menu I looked at was older (I looked at the ones on the window) then getting a meal for myself would have only been a few bucks more. Next time. This place is my new go-to for burgers. My kid even said they were better than Culver's, which says something because he absolutely loves that place. read more

If I could give them a 10 I would. This place was an amazing little take out near our daughter's house. The BEST BBQ pork I have ever tasted. I have been looking for that kind of flavor ever since we moved to the Carolinas. The wings, I haven't found wings like that in a long time. Didn't even need to dip them in the ranch. The greeting we got when we walked in, made us feel like old friends. LOVE THIS PLACE!!! We will be back next time we are in town. I wish they shipped. read more

Please DO NOT ORDER THE CHOPPED CHICKEN AND CHEESE. I specifically requested the chopped steak cheese with chicken substitution. However, it appears that the "rub my belly" chopped steak and cheese cannot be substituted. My main issue today was not with the food itself, but with the poor customer service. The cashier was rude and condescending when I asked about the substitution, responding with, "It ain't on the menu." I explained that I understood this, but if the item could be provided in a wrap, then why not on a 5-inch sub roll? She replied that the option was coming, but was not listed on the menu. Despite my efforts to clarify, she continued to make smart, condescending remarks. Even after I sat down and placed my order, she continued with her condescending comments. I drove 30 minutes passing other equal or better options on my way, because I chose to support their minority owned business.
