My son stopped to get me two sides, potato salad, and baked beans. The baked beans taste like and look like a frozen beans out of the frozen food section. The potato salad had a chemical smell and it taste like it was made with mashed potatoes. It was gross. read more

Stopped in recently and had a great experience at Smithfield's in Fayetteville! The barbecue sandwich was incredible -- tender, juicy, and full of that authentic Carolina flavor. Everyone I interacted with was friendly, helpful, and really knew the menu. You could tell they care about both the food and the customer experience. Went to smithfield, chicken and barbecue on cliffdale road last night I ordered the dark combo, and uh, they served me parakeet instead of chicken. I don't know what's going on with the food anymore. We recently visited this location while we were home visiting family for the holidays (I currently live in the greater Atlanta, Georgia area but am originally from Fayetteville, NC). It's hard to find good Eastern NC style BBQ in GA and so I decided to fill my craving by coming here. Everything was excellent. The service was even above and beyond in my opinion - our food was brought out to us, but I was expecting them to just call my name to come up to the counter to pick it up. I almost never see this level of service and friendliness anywhere anymore so was very impressed. Prices have gone up. Quality and quantity have gone down. I'm 58. Been going to Smithfield's for a long time. Not anymore. Think I'm pretty well done with them. Last few visits have been disappointing. The BBQ was over chopped into a mush. First bite was gristle. And just not seasoned as well as usual. Damn near bland. Almost 7 $ for a pint of beans? Maybe for a quart. I can spend that over 30$ for three pints (slaw beans bbq ) somewhere else for sure and get more flavor and more food for my dollar. Always good food at the HopeMills location. The Chicken and barbecue are delicious and the staff is friendly.

We love Smithfield's. But this location has become slow at delivering orders to customers. 20 minutes for a to go order in the store this time around. Be prepared to wait for your order to be filled at least 10 minutes. There were only 2 other people in the restaurant ahead of us. No one in drive thru. The Raeford location is much faster. Customer service was friendly as always. They have a great 99 sanitation rating and someone was constantly cleaning tables, floors etc. My tip, go there hungry but not starving. Today, I'm headed home and as I'm traveling through the Carolinas I had to check out some Carolina barbecue. I also love fried chicken, but I didn't want to over indulge. I could have as they sold bags of fried chicken skin. I should have gotten one of those. The pulled pork sandwich was great. It had a nice balance of sweetness and tanginess, and though I don't care for slaw, it went well with the sandwich. This review has nothing to do with food quality. First of all I am sorry for the quality of my pics the manager that evening I visited had me so flustered I was ill trying to keep my composure and not lower my standards to the way the manager handled my concern. I was greeted by an associate who took my order and I ordered a size plate I'd never ordered before. On the old fashioned price board with the little plastic letters the price beside the large shrimp platter was not listed out beside the item so I understood it to be it was the same price as the item above it. The price was still higher than the platter I use to get. Anyway I notice it rang up about $1.40 higher than the item above it. So I questioned the associate for the price difference and her response was "maybe they didn't put the price on all items". Well every other item displayed a price but what I was ordering. (Note to employees that don't know the correct answer don't assume and make up one). A customer wants the correct answer not a hypothesis. She said you want me to get the manager and I said absolutely. I am the easiest person to get along with and not about confrontation but I'm not gonna get taken advantage of without letting someone know my point of view when I feel I have a valid point. The manager came medium height, tan complexion man, bald and in his late 20 or early 30's. As you can tell I forgot to get his name. He came over and said how may I help you? I explained the missing price issue and before I could finish he interrupts and says the price it's ringing up is the correct and I'm a defensive tone says and I am NOT gonna give it to you for any less! I said y'all are the ones that aren't displaying correct info how is one to know. Then he said to me dumbest idiotic excuse one could say and him being a manager! OMG! He said, "'that price fell down off the board just today and I haven't had time to fix it!! REALLY??? I was dumbfounded! I said that one items price outta the entire board was the only one that fell today!! I would have much rather heard him apologize for the oversight, mistake or any other realistic excuse. He could have said its been down for a while and I forgot to fix it but I can't sell it for any less. I would have totally understood and appreciated the honesty. But coming up to me defensive, snappy and lack of empathy for my situation was not acceptable and totally unprofessional. I have never had an experience with a Smithfield employee and could understand it from anyone except from management. I never came to him angry or looking for an argument I simply told him it is a misrepresentation of your product and false advertisement and it doesn't need to be neglected further. He better be thankful I told him instead of someone who would have really given him a bad day!! Thanks for reading my comment if anyone has an afternoon to give to read it. But I wouldn't expect that caliber of employee from Smithfield especially management. But a piece of unsolicited advise in the future, if you're gonna explain a problem in your business with an outright lie and insult the intelligence of your customers at least make it plausible!!! In MY OPINION Smithfield's has made a grave error. They have raised their prices and Lowered the portion size. 2 " BIG" mistakes for a restaurant to make. I have eaten here with my family at Least twice a month for the Last 15 years and tonite was the worst service, smallest portion of BarBQ sandwich meat and never have I seen the French fry order fit the fry-bag ??? The customer service is severely lacking at this location. I encountered several rude employees, one in particular who scolded me for asking for a fork. I didn't realize he had gone to get some and since I hadn't eaten there in years didn't think twice about going to the counter to ask for one. The food was blah. Made an online order, watched delivery driver pull up to the house and watched them take off with the delivery. Waited and hour and 15 minutes for a 35 minute wait time and now they say they are closed . The corporate office needs to get involved or they are going to go out of business.
