Went in the afternoon and they were almost totally sold out. So beware of that. Its a tiny place. The donuts were decent. I got an apple fritter that was big but a bit undercooked. The other donuts weren't glazed that well but may work for others who like that. read more

With so many donut shops, you would think a donut is just a donut. MK's is the only place I'll be going to from now on. Incredibly fresh donuts, great drinks and breakfast sandwiches. Mk's has been my favorite donut shop for years. Their donuts are always so soft and fresh! I usually see a wide variety of them too. I usually stop by in the morning when I'm in the area and grab a croissant for my partner and I along with a donut and an iced coffee. The croissants are made to order and are very filling. They're also my favorite croissants I've had. If you order one with an egg, the egg is always so fluffy! The iced coffees are so tasty and reasonably priced. There's the option for vanilla, hazelnut, and caramel flavors. My favorite is the caramel, but the other two are also good. They're a bit on the sweeter side for me. The lot is small and fills up but they have a few spaces out front specifically for the shop. Service is always good. There are a few tables inside to eat if you prefer to eat inside. read more

Definitely come in early morning to get your pick of donuts! BF and I are not morning people, so all our trips to MK's Donuts have been after 12 pm. There are still donuts in the afternoon, but the ones you want may have already been sold! And it's hard to gauge what's popular each day. On our first trip, they still have the chocolate glazed cream filled donuts and jelly filled donuts, but no birthday sprinkle donuts, while on our next visit, all the jelly filled were sold, but we were able to grab the birthday sprinkle donuts. Individual donuts range from $1 to $1.50 and a dozen is under $10. We've already gotten a few sandwiches from here and enjoyed them all immensely. BF has a fondness for ham and cheese croissant and he found theirs to be very satisfactory. We've also tried the sausage, egg, and cheese bagel (#3) as well as their roast beef sandwich (#17). The added bonus of when we pick up our sandwich and donut order is the 2-3 donut holes they throw in for free! I don't remember if they have a minimum for credit cards or whether they take them. We've paid cash every time. The doors face a small plaza with a few parking spots, but since everyone is grabbing and going, you should have no problems finding a spot. Otherwise, you can park on the south side in the larger plaza with more spots. read more

WOW! FIVE STARS ALL AROUND!!!!!!!! HAPPY FIRST TIMERS!!!!! So, I was in the hood today, and decided to Yelp a donut place for my family who asked me to bring home something sweet. In West Covina, we have just about tried every sweet treat and we HATE Krispy Kreme and dunkin. I saw an SK donuts and MK and opted to go to MK because my sisters name starts with an "M" hahaha...So glad we did, because the donuts are outstanding. When I first walked in i was greeted by the nicest woman, and I asked her if the donuts were still fresh (at 7pm they never really are) she promised it was and that I would be completely satisfied. SHE DIDN'T LIE, YALL. The plain buttermilk bar was so crispy on the outside and as soft as a pillow on the inside. I saw that they had a FREE donut check in, and I was so excited, lol. Not a lot of places do that anymore! For my TWO donuts I paid ONE DOLLAR! Honest to god the best dollar I've spent in a while lol The place has plenty of parking, I love seeing the locals come in and she already knows their order, lol I got a nice homey feel and I can appreciate the comfort when I'm on places I'm unfamiliar with. Quick review: I came in for a couple of donuts after getting a hair cut nearby. Got the sprinkles glazed and the peanuts glazed. Both were really good, not stale. The lady threw in a bunch of donut holes in the bag. I thought that was a nice touch, wasn't expecting that. I'll be back. read more

I want everyone to know how shady this location is! BEWARE of their dishonesty! Let's start of with me being a regular always buying my sandwiches, donuts and LOTTO here, but you need to be aware FANTASY 5 lotto when you purchase $5 or more it comes with an extra ticket. That enters you in an $10,000 weekly drawing! The female business owner took it upon herself to keep it and when I asked about it she denied it and lied to my face and said I'm wrong! If you look up the lotto rules it clear states what you get! read more

Found this place on Yelp. Needed donuts to take to some nurses that always take good care of me and a couple to thank my wonderful wife/chauffeur. It looks like any donut shop with the same variety of donuts. What sets it apart is the service! I'm taking a dozen donuts to the hospital and the gal behind the counter put in an extra free one. Bought 2 donuts so my wife could choose what she wanted and, unknown to me, threw in about a half dozen donut holes. It's not Donut Friend, but I don't get to Highland Park very often. So this will be my go-to place when I need a local donut shop. read more

My first time at this donut shop. I had to place a Christmas donut order last minute (night before) for work. I did not get her name, but she said come in an hour and she'll decorate them. I don't eat sweets to often but by looking at the donuts they look well made and puffy. That's what you would want in a donut. The service was amazing! Donuts were ready within the hour she said they would be ready. She even gave me a Christmas gift for stopping by. Won't tell you what it is! Friendly donut place- we have a company that utilizes donuts for our photo shoots so they have come in handy when we buy donuts for our models/workers, for photoshoots, etc. They're also really tasty, and if you order and call in ahead of time, they will do your custom order. We ordered at least 50 pink glazed donuts and like 200 donut holes without glaze and 50 with glaze (to eat) and they complied. The price was right as well! Support small businesses! read more

If donuts are cotton candy and fluffy clouds personified....then this is the place to get that kind of donut. Located in a small strip mall on Peck Rd., El Monte, Mk's Donuts is a diamond in the rough, a hidden gem, and dare I say better than a popular chain donut place that rhymes with "misty creme." First off, the donuts are baked fresh on site and they are GENEROUSLY sized and of great value. I ordered a cinnamon bear claw filled with apple (a nice surprise) and an apple fritter -- both were as big as my face! For $2 each, I had enough to share with two friends -- now that's value!! They have broad variety from traditional sprinkle cake donuts, donut holes, glazed, and more. While I've not tried them yet, they also carry a range of breakfast smoothies and breakfast sandwiches. The owners are always friendly - and they have great lotto scratcher tickets if you're looking for something to do while you nosh on your donut and coffee. By the time I remembered to post a picture, all that was left were crumbs of bear claw, and remnants of apple fritter....only because my friends and I got full. Next time, I'll update by adding pictures. read more

I tried this place out on a whim and was pleasantly suprised by the service and prices. He gave be the big donuts at low prices because it was close to closing and he is a nice guy. He even suggested I try the Zumba class next door because they had the music blasting. I might just join that class after I finish this box of delicious donuts. I will drive down here next time I am craving something sweet when all the donut shops closed. MK's closes much later than these other lame donut shops. read more

Good new donut space. Staff is friendly. Pretty standard on their donut selection with your usual twistys, fruit filled, bear claws, fritters and so on. Something different would be their fruity pebbles and Oreo donuts. The croissants smelled great, may have to give it a try next time. read more

Who doesn't love a good donut? Mk's donuts are big in portion and very moist. The have a big selection even after the morning rush hour. They currently have s free donut off if you check in on yelp. Which I gladly did. The lady who was helping me said if you check in on instagram you would get 2 free donuts when you ordered a dozen. Thank goodness for me, I don't have Instagram. I highly suggest stopping by Mk's and trying out the donuts. read more

After reading all the reviews about these donuts I just had to try them. So I drive all The way to El Monte from Eagle rock. I live next to Highland Park and the donut place I unusual go to is called donut friend, and I have to say their donuts don't even come close to these. The freshness and quality is really yummy. I still can't believe how yummy these donuts are. Really!! I ordered a dozen and tried a bit of everyone and they were all so good. Five stars for this new place. ;) read more

They satisfied the sweet tooth, but they weren't particularly memorable. On the bright side, service was excellent. Everyone was friendly, the line moved quickly, and I was in and out within minutes. Overall, I'm glad I stopped by and gave this place a try since it was nearby. I probably wouldn't come back specifically for the muffins, but I'd be willing to give some of their breakfast sandwiches or other menu items a shot next time. Happy eats!
