I am not sure about every MN outlet store, the one I usually go to is in Burnsville next to Menards (yes, I hang out there too). This MN Outlet as a close out for home improvement store. It has closeouts on sinks, tiles, cabinets, etc. Most important it has tools.. Lots and lots of tools. Be forewarned, if you leave your husband unattended, he can spend over 4 hours looking at router bits... Don't lose your 'child'. read more

I have been a loyal shopper at MN Home Outlet since they first opened in Burnsville. However that is nearing an end for me and my purchases. When MNHO first opened I felt like a kid in a candy shop! As a Real Estate addict I am always in need of something. I found in the beginning I apparently needed more than I thought as often times my trips would result in someone having to bring a trailer to pick up whatever treasure I purchased. TVs, vanities, vacuum cleaner, patio set, tools, chandeliers, you name it, Ive bought it. The last few times I have gone I have seen a higher increase in pricing. The unfortunate part about this is that some of the items they now have, you would never expect for them to be there and now you see them at a slightly discounted price- for example today I saw cute pillow cases that were $8.00. If they were $2.00 I would have thrown them in the cart. The kicker for me was a small accent pillow marked for $19.99. While their facility is now HUGE their always changing inventory is no where near as exciting as it once was. As some of the other reviews mentioned it is often the case to get something with using parts or not in working order. The occasional sales are a nice way to feel like you are getting a deal, but if I'm being honest I would rather go to the original venue to ensure I get it right the first time. First off Yelp, you need to update this stores hours. They are now closed on Mondays & Tuesdays. That's my first complaint with this store, their business card that I took when checking out last week Friday says that they are open Mon-Fri. My second complaint is that I went there today, Monday 4/4/22 to return item that was defective. I don't live in the area of this store - I live 17 miles away. My Third complaint is that when I made my purchase on Friday, 4/1/22 I showed the cashier my MNHO $ earned ($40.46) to be applied to this purchase - he charged me full price! Run, don't walk, away from this clown show of a company. Now stuck in limbo as I wait for them to supposedly communicate with the manufacturer. Upon arrival, we were able to find carpet tiles, as priced, in limited quantities -- but enough for our project. We were able to purchase all tiles for .50 per square foot -- an unbelievable bargain. We also picked up a vacuum cleaner ($30), undercounter-mounted garbage cans ($10), and other items. I plan to visit MN Home Outlet monthly to see if I can find bathroom vanities, shelving, and ceiling tiles for future DIY projects. We had the best experience today shopping @MN Home Outlet. We have not been there since Tim Elliot bought it and took ownership. We noticed immediately when entering, something good had changed, but didn't realize there was new ownership until Tim started to assist. No longer is there dust lingering in the air or piles and piles of junk. It's now organized, clean and we found great bargains. No need to dig to find them. We left with a brand new bed, frame and headboard without the need to clean and dust ourselves off after we left!! We will make this a routine stop on our bargain hunt. Do not shop here. It's a scam store that sells DEFECTIVE PRODUCTS. Bought a generator (duromax) from them in June of this year. After 6 uses the engine seized and ..... they refuse to provide us with any replacement and because it's purchased from this store it voids the 3 year warranty. The store manager when I talked to her said ..... we buy things from Home depot and we don't know what the status of the product is...... when I said that she sold us a defective 700$ product she hung up the phone on me. Wow. Okay so, I purchased an Ashley Furniture Jayceon 3 piece sectional from the Burnsville location over memorial day weekend. I purchased preemptively as they were having a memorial day sale, for a new condo to be ready in a few months after renovation. I put the sectional in my storage unit until the condo was ready. This specific sectional comes in two different configurations, right aligned, with the chaise of the left, or left aligned, with the chaise on the right. I NEEDED this to be right aligned, as left would simply not work in the space. I inquired as to the configuration when in the Burnsville store. Frank, the assistant manager assured me that what is seen on the sales floor is exactly what is in the warehouse - WRONG! The sales floor model was left aligned, and now upon settling into the condo, the sectional they gave me is right aligned! I can't do anything with this couch! Now, as they accept no returns or exchanges, I'm stuck with this damn thing and have to sell it on craigslist, and repurchase it (of course from somewhere else, they wont be seeing my business again). This has been an absolutely terrible waste of my time and energy. Steer clear of making major purchases from this store. This place used to be great. Prices used to be at least half off retail for minor scratch and dent. Significantly worse prices since they made the store larger. Bullshit/shady sales prices with the feeling that we should be thankful for 10% off retail have turned this from a must stop to a forget it. Went in today to check out the 80% off yellow and blue stickers sale. They changed the sticker color on everything that was decent. I know because I frequently take pics of the item and price when I shop. I did attempt to pick up a space heater today as they had sent emails and posted signs all over that said "all snow blowers and heaters 50% off". Apparently the Dr. Infrared Heater was not a heater even though it was on a shelf under a sign that said "all snow blowers and heaters 50 % off" sitting next to 200 other heaters. They wouldn't honor the price so I left it on the counter with a couple items in my cart and walked out. After over 10 years of patronage of the Burnsville MN Home Outlet. I will not be going back. As austomer since 2009 or so back when the it was called 'Shop Jimmy' and a much smaller operation, we have bought 4 televisions, a washer & dryer set, a separate dryer, 4 Bicycles. Bathroom Lighting. A Kitchen Sink. Granite Tile, Deck supplies and countless other items from small hardware to the more recently stocked home furnishings, A few months back i was delighted to be told by a employee they are now offering a rewards program. I signed up and purchased 4 bicycles. I was told our points would be effective our next visit. I cam back a week later and was told it takes some time for the points that can be used as cash towards purchase to be put in the system. I called on 8.20 as me and my family were in Covid Quarantine as was told by a female employee that our points would expire on 8.24.20 however because they are aware of the pandemic they would be honored, I told them I would come in after the 10 day quarantine. They told me to contact the manager 'Tim' via email as I was standing in the cashier's line with my purchases. I emailed the manager and did not receive a response. I waited 2 days and then called the store. I asked for the manager and spoke with him, he advised 'oh yeah i got your email there is nothing we can do from store'. He told me to contact the IT rep 'Ryan' in Colorado to replace the points stating they can't do it at the store he then gave me another email address for Ryan. I emailed 'Ryan' by forwarding him the emails sent to the manager 'Tim' and elaborating everything i'm now posting in this review. This was over 2 weeks ago and I have not been even contacted ONCE to discuss this situation. I was rudely interacted with during my discussion with 'Tim' the manager and completely ignored on each attempt at getting MN Home Outlet to hold to their word. I know i'm undervalued and un-appreciated and so is loyalty to MN Home Outlet and my dollar as a consumer with these most recent interactions. I have my guess as to why I and my family have been treated in this manner, but hey its the current climate. There is nothing new under the sun. I used to love this place but they have gone downhill drastically for two reasons. Mainly the lack of new inventory for quite some time and pricing that is no longer a great deal. They get their inventory from Lowes and Home Depot pallets of returned, used, damaged, and discontinued merchandise which is sold to the highest bidder which has not been MNhome outlet. Unless they can restore their inventory levels and get back to their price point they won't be around much longer. read more

If you're buying from them via K-Bid, watch out for what you're buying. The lots that they are claiming to have high retail value are usually just a pile of parts, that you have to buy a whole lot more parts to complete the puzzle. Now people just bid everything up too because they put what the retail price could be if you had a brand new complete machine, which is sometimes not the case. read more

This place has definitely JUMPED THE SHARK! So they tend to sell returned, overstocked, used mostly damaged stuff that is basically junk but on occasion, you could find an odd part or something that for the low price made sense. Now the assortment of products are of ever lowering quality, just outright broken or missing parts but the prices are not much different than just going to Home Depot, Lowes, etc. So now you have not such low prices for sub-standard quality merchandise that you can't return. Sound good huh? Even their own advertising reflects the decline of this place, the sign once said "save over 80%" then about a year ago it said, "save over 50%" now it says "save over 25%"! Sorry Shop Jimmy increasing your over-head, marginally improving the layout lowering the quality of products while steadily raising prices you have doomed the entire enterprise to failure.... read more

Once a place of great deals has now become a place to pay basically retail prices for damaged and missing parts. But that's not what has now made me decide to ban this place from my shopping.... ...today I went there to look because sometimes you did a good deal which I did. Got a new vanity and some new garden edging. Now the garden edging was 5 boxes worth 3 had a low price and 2 boxes were $5 more per box. I pointed that out to the cashier and she said we have to scan the price that's on the box even though they were all the same boxes. So because I was honest I had to pay $10 more for the same thing we're if I would have just let her scan the first box they would have never known. So I was upset and asked for the manager. After waiting for 10 minutes I gave up and walked out. Now here's where I lost it. My 15 year old daughter pushed the cart away for me and on her way back she trips in a pot hole about a foot around and a good 8" deep causing her to fall head first inches from the back of a parked car. She skinned her legs badly and her hands from catching herself. So I flipped and went back in and demanded the manager immediately. He showed up and I told him they have major safety issues out there and we're inches from a major lawsuit if my daughter would have it that car. He basically disregarded it and said it's the companies issue not his. I called him out and said that's pure laziness and simply filling the hole with gravel would temporary fix it and he continued to disregard it and said I should just leave a Google review. So here's your review and I will also be contacting the main company because no matter who is to blame neglect is not acceptable. read more

Do not buy the N95 mask from Mn Home outlet stores. Its worst than a single layer cloth face mask. I work with N95 and it needs to have a good seal & filter. This one have HOLES around it. ..They have an empty box by the cashier showing N95..cashier said its all single packed..so I paid for 10 of them at a price of $3 each. I opened one and this is how it looks(see pic next). So I told the cashier this is not N95 & I will return the 9 that I just paid for ( since I already open the tenth one). New Manger Tim came and was pissed already, Loud & w/no I contact he kept yelling " you can not do that" "if it is not broken we don't return". I said "this is not N95. It have holes around it and what is the use if it has holes". He kept getting louder that its his store policy that unless its broken I can not return. I told him this is not N95 at all. Yes they may have a few good deals, I will NEVER EVER go back to them for even a roll of toilet paper. I found an add on Craigslist for a sale priced washing machine only to find out that after driving 130+ miles one direction that the listings on the internet are posted F-ING BEFORE the product is even shipped to the store. And they have no freaking idea when in the week the truck with that sale item will be delivered. Thank You again MN Home Outlet for not only making a wasted day, but the gas and headache that your business practice has given me and my wife but the 287.6 miles driven were a memorable one. Keyword: OUTLET Okay, this place is where you come when you are a DYI kind of person and look to save some substantial $$$$. They have grown massively in the short time they have been open. Do they have scratch and dent? YES! Do they have new items/discontinued? YES! Will you get a good deal? YES! This place has been going through some growing pains. I have been a loyal customer since they were in a small space, selling mostly grills. There have been times where the place is in shambles, and many times when it is neat and clean. This seems to be the most common complaint. However, with hundreds of people coming though a day, it can get a little messy. But, they are trying their best to keep up and they are getting a lot better with the organization from what I have seen over the last year or so. Keep in mind: Do your research and check your items! Many things they sell are salvaged or returns that the store does not put back on the shelf. I have not purchased anything yet that did not function ( I have purchased a lot!). But, like I said, do your research to make sure it's a good deal, and throughly check what you are buying. They do have a 1 week return policy for defective/non-working items. This really is the best place for items for remodeling. I recently purchased engineered hardwood flooring for . 80 cents a sq. Ft. And it looks fantastic! read more

Went in yesterday had a pallet of food item had a individual Pepsi 1881 at a price of 2:08 a can . Cub sells for a dollar a can . They sign up front use to state 50% off retail but now reads 25% . Found this place on Facebook quite a long time ago. We go there about once a month to check out the ever changing inventory. I've read the other complaints for this store and took them with a grain of salt. The place is not organized like a regular 'home improvement' store, yes, but its not one. It's an outlet! Alot of their merchandise is returns, damaged, etc goods from home depot, lowes and others. Some things require a little DIY if you are on a budget and even if your not you can still save tons of $$. Just do a little research on what you are buying. If you think they are charging too much at MHO, leave it be for another customer. I highly recommend this place. read more

We stopped by the booth at the Home Show and met the owners. On the way home we stopped to checked out the store. We ended up purchasing 2 cabinets and an expensive tool we have been considering purchasing. The cabinets & tool needed a little work but nothing too complicated to stop our interest in them. Absolute garbage customer service , call for hours with no answer , have to leave a message EVERYTIME to get someone on the phone just to confirm the sectional is the right direction for our living room confirm 2 times over the phone and once IN STORE after driving 2 trucks an hour and and 20 minutes then drive back home an hour and 20 only to find out it's the wrong direction for our living room! I call and tell them the situation needs to be made right and I'm told I can get 20% back and keep The WRONG couch or it's now MY responsibility to take work off early and have someone else take off work early because it required 2 trucks , drive an hour and 20 minutes back to Burnsville loading and unloading couches so that they can fix THEIR mistake! What happened!!!! 8-9 months ago this would have been a 5 star review. This place use to be great. They have scratch and dent, store returns, discontinued & closeout merchandise. It was 50% or more off retail prices and they ran sales weekly for even better savings. They have "remodeled" and added 2 more stores in the metro. Since that started they have gotten very little new merchandise and the prices on the stuff they do have seem to have doubled. They no longer run sales to move merchandise because they really have nothing to move but junk. I have even found many of the exact items at local retail stores, brand new, for less money. It's not worth taking the chance that the item is all there or in working order if you aren't saving anything. Seems like they got to big for their own good and very greedy, it's sad really. If you do buy from them beware!! Make sure to look things over well, check size, make sure they work and have all the parts etc... before buying. They don't take returns unless the product does not work. If you buy and find a dent that you didn't notice or it's the wrong size, they will not take it back. I am hopeful MN Home Outlet gets back on track and regains it's customer's trust/business. read more

Total scam. I purchased Ashley Furniture Signature table in the store over a week ago. There was a sign on the display saying the display model was not for sale and that new tables were for purchase. I asked up front at the cashier. They had me order the table in the store and told me to expect a phone call in about a week. I waited a little over a week and called the store to see if my order was in. When I called, I gave only my name and they immediately said, "your order is in." I was confused how they knew because I didn't give them an order number or anything other than my first name when they answered the phone. They assured me my order was in. So, I drove to the store to pick up my order. I had to search around the store for someone to help me. They directed me to the far back corner where they kept their pickup orders. The door was shut and only a guy driving a fork lift was around so I approached him. Before I said anything (literally, didn't even say anything yet) he just snapped at me "you're 5 people deep sir". Huh? I told him I was just looking for my table. He calmed down immediately since he realized his snapping at me was weird. I followed his forklift through the now open order pickup door and saw "my table". The fork lift driver got off the forklift and went straight to my table since I was there. "Dean? This is your table". I looked at it and right away recognized it as the display model that had dents and scratches and splintered wood on almost every edge. He called up front, on his walkie talkie and I heard what seemed like a rehearsed line about "this is a new vendor, it really is the vendor's fault. They said they were going to send us some more merchandise but, well I guess they didn't." So, my options were to take the truly garbage display model or get my money back. Obviously I wanted my money back. However, I was quite upset I was told my order was in and they attempted to pawn off the beyond damaged display model without telling me. When I went for my return, I spoke to who I believe was the manager I had talked to on the phone. When I told her I was upset about the store attempting to pawn off the damaged item as what I had ordered she acted like I was being unreasonable. Uh, I called and they told me my order was ready, made me drive to the store, they tried to give me the table and only when I told them it was the same damaged display item did they fess up to the truth. That is shady. She kept trying to tell me it was the vendor's fault. In 38 years I have never had anything like this happen at a store; box store or otherwise. There were red flags being raised when I purchased the table the week before. For example, when I finished purchasing the order from the cashier the week before, the cashier actually laughed and said, "hopefully they call you in a week." I stopped and asked, "why did you laugh, will I not actually get a call?" She realized how she sounded and straightened her face and said, "oh no, they should call." At that time, I told my wife, something is a bit fishy here. Sure enough, no call and they tried to scam me. read more

As a flooring contractor this was hands down the worse experience I have had with purchasing material. The samples laid out were pristine but when the boxes open it is not a pretty sight. Our client purchased this material at a price that's akin to high-end flooring. The product was uninstallable so we went to Customer service. The manager shrugged her shoulders at our attempt to simply exchange material. Absolutely horrid sales practices. They did not disclose the proper information to make an educated purchase so now a client is out $2000 due to this nearly inhumane interaction.
