I came for snacks with a small group so got to try a few items. Boudain "sushi" roll is interesting and tasty, but it's pretty heavy so 2-3 pieces per person seems about right as a little appetizer. Buffalo "cauliwings" were good, however it was a small portion and needed some blue cheese zing. Truffle fries seem to be a standard frozen product and they aren't a good value at $13 (and in case you are thinking to yourself, "but truffles are expensive!" just know that most truffle seasoning is made with artificial flavoring), but they were served nice and hot. Though MBB serves wine, I do not recommend wine drinkers come here expecting to have a nice glass - I tried the Redwood Chardonnay and it was too warm, overly sweet, and oddly carbonated. I tasted the Cabernet ordered by someone else at the table and it had the distinct flavor of a bottle that has been open too long (and wasn't good to begin with). Definitely stick with beer. There was live music (I was there on a Friday night) and it was enjoyable... I would definitely come back for this - and despite not loving what I ate on this visit, I appreciate good vegan food and I do want to try more of the menu here since I saw other items that looked interesting. read more

I was SO excited to try this place when I heard about it's opening. I mean a plethora of comfort food that looks indulgent but is centered around plant based/vegan free ingredients? SIGN ME UP. Unfortunately this was not the experience I had when trying the food. I decided to get their brunch via Uber Eats and I wish I could have had that ethereal feeling I was longing for but was utterly disappointed. I tried the following: - Donut Sandwich (4/10) - I usually love a good savory/sweet combination but I was not expecting to have a black bean patty in the sandwich. I felt that it overpowered the other components instead of worked harmoniously with them. - Truffle Hash (9/10) - This was actually AMAZING. Not too pungent on the truffle flavor. The ingredients sung; I definitely recommend trying this here. - Shroom' and Grits Flight (1/10) - I was so excited to try the flavors of each of the different sauces but instead I was given three different containers and NO SAUCE. So basically there were just fried oyster mushrooms (extremely salty and could have used the sauces for balance) grits (also extremely salty). I can't believe I slept on this place for so long. I split the buffalo chicken dip, shrooms and grits trio, and cauliflower wings with dirty 3rd sauce with my friend. The fry on the shrooms and cauliflower was beyond perfection. All three shrooms and grits were great, but the hot honey was by far the best. I am still really excited about this place. I drove out from Richmond to have lunch with my daughters. On that day, the time we arrived, they had a limited menu. We were told to come back around 5 o'clock. Due to an engagement, going back at five was not going to work for us. My daughters ordered a dish that they'd tried before. Attempted to patronize this establishment. First there is no such thing as ample parking at this location. Upon placing an order to go and attempting to wait at the bar I was instructed to wait outside while my food was prepared. I found this request to be rude. The sheer audacity to be asked to wait outside in the rain and cold element while my food was being prepared. I was attempting to sit there and order a drink while I await my order to be completed, but apparently, I am not allowed to do that at this establishment. I promptly canceled my order and left. Came with some friends and we had an amazing experience. The server was so nice and they were so quick with our order. We started off with the spinach artichoke dip which was so good we finished it five minutes AND forgot to take a picture. For entrees we family-styled it and ordered multiple things. The donut bun was crispy and paired very nicely with the breakfast sausage. 10/10 would get again. Unfortunately, I was not a big fan of the Fela Feta pizza. It was too much feta for me and it overwhelmed my taste buds. However, the pizza texture was great! I would probably try another pizza the next time I go. Our last entree was the Cajun Croissant. This dish was the heaviest and I felt myself getting full just from one bite. The cajun cream in this dish is the same one that goes on the shrooms & grits. The croissant itself is small, but the dish comes with a lot of rice so it's very filling. I definitely recommend sharing this one. For sides we got fries and brussel sprouts. The fries were fried perfectly and was nice and crispy on the outside. The brussel sprouts were by far (in my opinion) the best item we ordered. I typically am not a fan of brussel sprouts, but these sprouts were putting in work! They were tart and flavorful and crispy. It was also a pretty large portion of sprouts--a great shareable option. For drinks (not pictured) we got the matcha latte, latte, and elderberry blast mimosa. The matcha latte lacked a matcha flavor, and I mainly tasted the milk. My friend and I decided to come here on a Sunday for brunch. While the food tasted good, I had to send my pecan waffle back because there was a hair in my waffle. Our waitress was friendly and did offer to have it remade. The waffle had a cinnamon taste and was delicious, but seeing the hair took my appetite. Our food took 30-40 minutes to arrive originally and I had to wait an additional 30-40 minutes for the remake of my waffle. The matcha tea with vanilla and lavender was delicious. Let me start off by saying. I had a great time in the city of Houston. Most of the Vegan restaurants we visited were great. Our last night in town we stopped at Mo Better Brews. The food was okay. I ordered fries and the Nachos with the Shrooms. which I ended up ordering after waiting and was told they did not have the Spinach dip. I settled for the nachos with shrooms all I can say is by the time we got back to the Airbnb a 15 minute drive I was vomiting like crazy. My stomach was doing small flips when we left the restaurant. I don't know how long the nachos had sat out before they were brought to our table, but this is not good. our Bill was-about $50. We won't be back and we won't recommend this restaurant. read more

The Elderberry Lemonade is definitely shareable but it's so good you probably won't want to share. The breakfast sausage are not those fake vegan meat sausage that you would typically get at a vegan restaurant. One unique condiment that accompanied the toast was Elderberry jam. Only thing I would say needed a little more attention was the grits were cold due to the plates sitting and waiting to be brought to the table. Even with that the grits were so flavorful. OK this place is legit amazing, and I honestly didn't go in expecting it to be. The brainchild of a husband-and-wife duo with a series of popular vegan spots around town, MBB focuses on American classics with a Southern inclination and is 100% vegan. Their stuff is on the pricier side, but you are rewarded with eye-popping flavor and decadence without the heaviness/greasiness associated with eating the meaty equivalents. I can't tell you what the inside looks like because I've sat at one of the picnic tables on the sprawling gravel patio both times I visited. The first time, I had the Chik'n Fried Shrooms & Grits, one of their most popular items. It consists of fried oyster mushrooms over creamy grits and drizzled with their Trill sauce, a punchy and zesty remoulade. Each bite was better than the last, with a balance of spicy, crunchy, savory, and sweet. The chewy and stringy texture of the mushrooms somewhat convincingly mimicked fried chicken, but I will say that smaller pieces might have been easier to eat logistically, especially given the dish comes in a bowl rather than a plate. The next time I visited, I ordered a burger that showcased an impossible meat patty lathered with caramelized onions, funky blue cheese, a slice of regular salty cheese, and a tangy sauce. A plant-based burger really had no business being this delicious... the patty was quite juicy and had these crispy bits that added diversity to the mouthfeel. I wanted to love this place! It decided to go to on a lunch with my boyfriend and finally use a gift card that was given to me because by my boss since my father passed away. Everything we ordered came out absolutely amazing! However, it was amazing until the end of our service. And the time to pay, and I gave our sweet waitress at the time, my debit card and the gift card, She said she tried to work on the gift card, but the gift card wasn't working and came back to the table and explained I can't pull up any information about it so you can just throw the gift card away. I was confused because I received this gift card from my boss and asked questions on how I can rectify that what can I do and I was given no answer just to throw the card away. I said it's OK. I'll call customer service in the back of the card and try to troubleshoot. In the meantime, I went ahead and paid for my bill and the lady for her service. Once she left to get some to go containers for me and my boyfriend, I finished the meal put the things in to go away with Emma calling customer service somewhere between the time the girl came back and her attitude that shifted, she was warm, sweet and nice and when she came back, she was cold, short and rude and then after that, I seen a manager come out and stare at me and my boyfriend in the corner and not really sure what happened and I felt very unwelcome. I felt very profiled and very judged so although the food was amazing I felt extremely uncomfortable and no longer welcomed for unknown reasons. Even the manager came out instead on the side of the bar and just stared at the table that me and my boyfriend were sitting at. I will love the opportunity to talk to management and to express how I felt being in that establishment and how the interaction made me feel as a customer So hopefully when someone asked me if I've been here and what was my experience it won't be tainted because of the negative experience I've endured here. read more

Melanin poppin all around while playing the hits my girls and I happened on this place by recommendation on a Friday (mid morning) for brunch with the gworls. We was cute, it was cute and after 2 mimosas, they got a little choir from our section. If every vegan restaurant was like this, I would be there all the time. Tried this place out because one of the people I went with is Vegan. We arrived around 10 a.m. on Saturday, it was moderately packed. The parking was a whole issue but because we went early we were able to snag a spot as someone left, crisis averted. We were allowed to choose where we wanted to sit and we chose inside, but there were far too many flies so we decided outside seating. The food was good, we had chicken and waffles (oyster mushrooms takes the place of chicken) with the hot honey sauce, grits, breakfast tacos, and we enjoyed everything. I ordered a charcoal lemonade and it was great but too sweet so I diluted it with water. My friends had mimosas which they enjoyed. My waitress was friendly and knowledgeable, the DJ showed up a hour into our service and that was a vibe. It did take awhile for the food to come out (understandable if it is made to order), but all in all it was good. I plan to return and explore other menu options. read more
