Loved her energy on the phone from the time she first answered. She said there were guys in my neighborhood this morning and she would have them come over to take a look after they were finished. Not only did they come over within 45 minutes but they were able to replace the hardware on my windows in a little over an hour. The whole job cost me $180 for their labor. That was absolutely fabulous considering I had companies quoting me as much $900. One of the guys who came out and took a look last fall told me to check with a glazier/glass company - an option I hadn't even considered and nobody had suggested heretofore. My second call was to Central Glass after doing a Yelp and a Google search. I'm absolutely thrilled considering this has been quite the journey: (A) finding the hardware and (B) finding someone to install. Windows have been closed and inoperable for 8+ months and of course every company you call wants to just sell you new windows. No sir/ma'am.... Windows are fine. I just need the cranks and hinges replaced. With a bit of perseverance I was able to get exactly what I wanted done. And a big shout out and thank you to Carolyn and her team at Central Glass!

Central Glass of Clinton, Maryland is still not listed on the Maryland Home Improvement Commission…read morewebsite as being licensed by the MHIC on October 18, 2024. Renee told me she does not need a license for windows--they do! Renee told the MHIC investigator she did not know she needed a MHIC LICENSE--their website lists that they are licensed and insured. The work that was done, was very poor quality and left my windows a mess. They didn't tag the windows that were to have panes replaced, so nobody knew which ones to replace. Panes were installed anywhere. One of the worst windows didn't receive new glass because the installer couldn't get the ladder on the slight hill. The braces or the plastic pieces around the glass that hold it in place were not replaced with new material, they tried to reinstall old and broken strips and used globs of silicone and/or white grout to try to reinforce windows in frame, then spilled that on sides and sills of the windows. The screens were to be re-screened but they did not do it correctly, the screens are not taut and the material ripples. When the workers tried to replace the screens in the window openings, they had not marked where they should go either and if they couldn't get them to fit in the space they were trying, they went outside and tried to pound the screens into the spot. Very poor workmanship Some tips from the Maryland Home Improvement Commission I wish I had read before hiring this company: If you're considering hiring a contractor for a home improvement project, you can also: " * Ask for the contractor's MHIC license number and verify it's up to date o * Call the MHIC to ask if any complaints have been filed against the contractor * Avoid paying more than a third of the total cost as a down payment * Avoid paying in cash & If you have problems with a licensed contractor, you can file a complaint with the MHIC. If the MHIC finds in your favor, you may be able to file a claim with the

I contacted A1 on December 2nd about a problem with my screen door. After returning from a business trip on December 16, I provided more details about the issue. They said someone would come to take measurements, but according to my front door camera, no one ever showed up. On December 18, they confirmed via text--providing detailed information--that they could do the job at a price I could afford. Finally, on December 30th, they came to do the work. I was out of town for business again, but since my first experience was positive, I trusted things would go smoothly. That was a mistake. They did the exact opposite of what we agreed upon, despite confirming the details in writing. Nothing they promised was actually done. To make matters worse, they left my front porch a mess. I later had another handyman look at their work, and he told me I was overcharged, especially considering they just reused the original materials and merely painted over them. I am extremely disappointed that I gave this business a second chance. I am retracting my original positive review.
