The coffee is good and reasonably priced. Typically at least one fair trade blend available each morning. For lunch they have a variety of bagel sandwiches and other offerings. The number of vegetarian options was a pleasant surprise. I had the Cosmic something-or-other bagel sandwich for lunch and it was AMAZING! Sun dried tomatoes, red onions, provolone cheese melted on top of an easy-to-eat bagel. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. This is a gem of a lunch option. The price for sandwich, soda and chips for two was close to $20. A little high but the food was incredible. read more

I've been a regular at Mo Java since I have been in high school. This is my favorite coffee house in the Lincoln area. Their food is wonderful and was sad when I found out I had a wheat allergy. However, this was not a problem as I was able to still have some items on the menu including the hash brown quiche! Everyone is very accommodating and Paul does a great job with his drinks specials. Coffee is also locally roasted across the street. In the summer I recommend a caramel nut toddy. You won't be disappointed! read more

A warm spring morning, the sunrise filtering through the morning clouds when I decided to try out a quaint little coffee shop called Mo Java not far from school. I've contemplated trying this coffee shop before but never really found the time and as it isn't too far from my house I wanted it to be a place I would love to go. They have a nice clean city parking lot right by their establishment so you don't have to hunt for parking. You walk by a charming little patio that they have available for customers with little wrought iron tables and umbrellas to shield from weather and heavy sunlight. You walk in and can immediately feel the off-beat coffee shop feel like that found in the 90s comedy sitcom of Friends. It is a very pleasant quiche place with a variety of artwork on the walls and an eclectic mix of tables. They is even a little bookcase filled with novels and overly stuffed comfy chairs. The countertop seems a little overcrowded as you walk towards but up until this moment I had fallen in Love with this place and the atmosphere. Unfortunately as soon as the Cashier opened her mouth I wanted to turn and walk out the door. I've worked in several coffee shops and am currently a Barista for Starbucks. I've been with the company for several years so when I go to a competitor I often forget that not everyone uses the same coffee terms. I asked the cashier for a grande caramel latte and she snipply replied "What is that?" I'm pretty sure as soon as the sentence left her mouth she wanted to take it back. She hurriedly tried to backtrack and apologized for sounding like a snob. While I didn't appreciate the way she talked to me, especially since I hadn't had my morning latte yet. I did appreciate the fact that she acknowledged her behavior and addressed the situation instead of just letting it stand as it was. I didn't make a big deal about the situation because this is my first visit to Mo Java and letting one little thing to ruin my entire experience. I went and set my things at a little table in the corner and then went to patiently wait for my latte. Patience you do have to have because it takes quite a bit of time for them to make something that should only take about two minutes so if you are in a hurry I would maybe try somewhere else. The customer service also lacks any personal touches unless you happen to be a regular. There seems to be a preference for the regulars and they'll have a long conversation with them but if you are new then the conversation is a bare minimum. Definitely a turn off if you are looking for a new coffee shop to patronize. My latte was finally ready so I picked it up and walked the short distance to my table. I sat down, opened my laptop, took a sip of my latte and immediately regretted getting any flavoring in it. If you don't like the taste of coffee than ordering a drink with syrup here is awesome but being a coffee aficionado I suggest ordering it with no syrup or half the syrup. My drink was overly sweet and I had the ill-fated luck of ordering my drink as for here drink. The cups are very plain but easy to pick up. The largemouth of the cup though allows your drink to cool very fast. Either drink it fast or order it in a to go cup so it stays hot or at the very least warm longer. I'm definitely willing to patronize Mo Java again but this will not become my local coffee shop. Mostly due to customer service because everything else that went not according to plan I can change the next time I order. The customer service is the most important part of a business and theirs is sadly lacking. It isn't so horrible that you never want to return but if you're not very confident about ordering than it could be intimidating because they are not very accepting of using any coffee lingo that is not established by them. It shouldn't matter if you use the terms that describe Starbucks coffee cup sizes or a term that describes a drink made by another business. For example ordering a smoothie, which Mo Java calls squishies, or a black eye, Mo Java's term is an electric eel. The coffee shop business has a lot of competition and they should be more understanding of people using other lingo than their own and they should be more willing to learn other coffee shop lingo. read more

I love the vibe of this place. The food is yummy and the workers are friendly. The cosmic bagel sandwich is my fave. Only 4 stars because the cooking process is a bit slow for a quick lunchtime grab and the menu doesn't ever really change. read more

Love this place. Very comfortable environment with fabulous food and an extensive drink list including coffee, speciality coffee, teas, and cocktails and alcoholic bevs. They have a little patio area that could use some flowers or something but it is nice to have the option to drink outside. The UNI area is a beautiful setting as well. read more

I'm not a specialty coffee aficionado, so I have nothing to say about the high end options, but for a pleasant place to get a cup, talk or use the WiFi, it's a great choice. I wouldn't make it a lunch destination, but when I want to stay online writing, the food is good enough to stay put. read more

Update. Changed Carafes and now coffee is always hot and best tasting in town. Also started asking for and calling out names when food is done. More personal and easier to hear them shout out when it your own name. Sandwiches as excellent as ever. Wow thanks for being responsive to Yelp reveiws. Love the sandwiches Pesto Avo melt YUM! Turk is always fantastic, Now I just have to figure out how to enter the nutritional data or estimates into my fitness partner app so I can eat there during my diet. Certainly some acceptable choices on the menu. Did I mention one bagel sandwich feed two normal appetites. Great for sharing or as a next meal leftover. read more

A little bummed here. I drive by this place all of the time, and i've seen great reviews. The employees weren't particularly kind, actually they ignored me for about 5 minutes, and the vanilla chai wasn't very good. I've made better chai at home. Pretty unimpressive... read more

The two men behind the counter at around 4:30 on Tuesday, February 7 were terrible! The lid was not secured on my drink and cascaded all over me when I wasn't even three feet from the counter. There was no acknowledgement whatsoever that something had happened to a customer. They got their money, so what did they care that the cocoa was all over my coat, pants, and shoes? I used to really like this place - but after this, I don't think I'll be back for awhile - and if I see those two again behind the counter - I will turn around and spend my money someplace else! read more

My mother and I came to lincoln today and decided to stop for a coffee. We went to Mojava cafe and my mother ordered a soy iced mocha. I ordered a toasted wheat bagel and a drip coffee. There was nothing glaringly wrong with our visit, everything was sort of low key and average. The flavored coffee available was called highland grog. When I asked the young man at the register what it tasted like, he said he couldn't remember but did tell me that I could try it. When I received a glass mug for my drip coffee, I tried a sip and was still unsure of what it was supposed to taste like, so I went with the other brew which was Nicaragua and surprisingly quite good. The toasted wheat bagel was also very good. My mothers soy iced mocha sat untouched but for a single sip for quite awhile. When I grabbed it to try some myself, it tasted okay but a little weak on the coffee. Admittedly I am a somewhat picky purveyor of iced mochas and if it had been for me I would have ordered it with an extra shot of espresso. My mother said that she thought it was fine. The store was clean and neat inside and I liked that they offered fresh cream in a pitcher. Also cool was the outside sitting area. They had a very nice selection of food and alcoholic drinks in addition to the coffee. Overall, I would not go out of my way to return but would stop by if I were in the area. read more

Food is okay. Coffee is good. Cookies are gigantic. Service is decidedly mixed. However, they are a cute neighborhood place with a dedicated group of regulars. I like supporting a local business, not Starbucks store number 5 zillion. I agree that I wouldn't cross town for it, but it's a good option if you are already in NE Lincoln. read more

I order the exact same thing thing every time I go in with specifics as this is not my first choice in coffee shops. Toffee nut latte with soy milk stirred well and topped off with whipped cream and caramel sauce. It's more difficult than most people but seriously when given specific instructions like that it shouldn't be hard to make but every time I have gotten my coffee it tastes different and most of the time not good at all. I don't know names but there is a red headed guy with a beard and his was the only drink I actually enjoyed from there. And there was a guy with shorter dark hair who moved so slow and kept stretching and couldn't seem to comprehend the order. He looked like he literally just rolled out of bed, bed head was real, and wrinkled clothes. At least try to look semi nice when at your place of business it's part of working....have some professionalism and pride in your job. read more

First time here. Had the Krab ciabatta sandwich with a latte. Everything was really good. A quant place. Reminds me of some of the cafes you'd see in New Orleans, but not as colorful. Nice. read more

Nice looking coffee shop. There are not many tables and they are kind of close together because the rooms are small, so when having a conversation it feels like everyone else is listening in (which they might be). The background music could be slightly louder (only slightly) to help with this. There are some comfy chairs in addition to tables, and a small outdoor seating area. I had a sandwich, which was good but I think a little overpriced. The green tea was ok. Coffee was good. They have a small staff so it can take a long time if there is a line. They close fairly early, which can be a limitation sometimes. read more
