Brought the van in for ramp and electrical repairs. They don't have qualified techs to do the job. We brought the car in 4 times in six months for the same service. They even made us leave the vehicle and rent a van at our expense. They do not have qualified staff to do electrical repairs. Their last attempt damaged our ramp and they gave it back to us like that. Unfortunately, there is really no alternative repair shop for specialty equipment like. Eli's attention to detail, his knowledge and customer service is exemplary. Everyone on the service team is so kind, considerate, helpful, honest and trustworthy. I am extremely grateful for the quality service their team always provides me for my van. Being disabled has a lot of daily challenges and stresses. Having Mobility Works service team check my van twice a year during regular maintenance visits gives me peace of mind that any issues or potential issues my vehicle may have will be addressed, repaired and upon leaving the premise, my vehicle is safe to drive. I had the lift serviced in October but I had to back because the lift wasn't working. They fixed the lift and kept me updated on their progress. Then added air to the tires because they were a little low. Then showed me how to remove the front seat and watched me remove the other seat to make sure I did it correctly. Spent total of 2 hours. The bill? No charge!! read more

My husband's diagnosis recently changed for the worse so our Tahoe was no longer sufficient for transporting him.  We heard about MobilityWorks from a friend who bought a wheelchair accessible vehicle earlier in the year and decided to make an appointment to explore our options. We first spoke to the general manager Neal, who was extremely helpful over the phone, but it wasn't until we arrived at the store where we were blown away with the capabilities of these vans! We ended up working with a salesman named Keith, and it wasn't at all like buying a regular automobile.  From power ramps and front seats that come out of the van, to electronic cables that can literally pull my husband into the vehicle, I was amazed at both how much was involved with these conversions and how much Keith knew about them!  We decided to get a hybrid Toyota Sienna and absolutely love it! Long story short, I highly recommend contacting the folks at MobilityWorks in Villa Park because they helped make a difficult situation surprisingly pleasant. read more

Today I filed a complaint against Mobility Works with the better business bureau because they seem to have a pattern of charging very high purchase prices and then offering very low buy-back prices. My father bought his van from them for $22,000 less than a year ago and they offered us a buy-back of $14,000. He put fewer than 500 miles on it and kept it in excellent condition. I negotiated over email for 3 weeks to get a better offer, pre-inspection. When we arrived for the inspection they said they were not informed about our appointment and they refused to recognize the higher offer, despite showing them the emails from their own company. This is unprofessional and predatory. Do not buy from them. read more

I bring a handicap van for ramp checks and regular service. I couldn't be happier with everything they do. They have separate waiting room with a tv and beverages. They have very fast service and are very thorough. I go every 6 months for a check up. I can alway trust them! read more

Stopped in here today as my , blinker extender, came loose and urgently needed to have it properly reattached! It was not a normal work day, but when I called, Mike told me to stop in anyway and someone would get it fixed! When I got the Romero and Al met me at the door and immediately properly reattached my blinker extender so I could continue with me life as normal! Their kindness brought me to tears! They went out of their way to help me out and I will never ever forget it! So happy to have my car in properly functioning order! Thank you, MobilityWorks! I could put 10 stars I would. Justin in sales was very knowledgeable and professional. He was kind and very respectful. He went over all the aspects of buying and installing a new lift in my brand new car. He worked with me to obtain the correct decision regarding my 5 year old lift verses a new lift. He called me with installation options when the new lift came in. Knowing that I have limited walking ability he made sure he came out to my car to talk. The day the car was complete, Justin came out to my sisters car to talk and go over the new lift. He wanted to make sure I was happy and comfortable. What an asset to this company. Then there was Phil the installer/ tech. Because of a new car Phil called me several times to discuss his installation. Making sure to get my approval for adjustments needed for the lift. Phil worked past his hours to get my installation done, knowing I really can't walk without my mobility's scooter. Phil was there to go over the bike and new lift. Phil pulled my car around to where I was sitting in my sisters car so wouldn't have to walk or stand to see the lift going in and out of the car. He and Justin made sure. to ask if I had any questions. I worked at a level one Trauma Hospital for over 20 years. I know what it's like to have people that depend on your kindness and professionalism. I would say Justin and Phil are in that category. I have gone to another company for service, in the southern suburbs. When I moved up this way I needed to find a great replacement. I actually found the best. This place defines the word "customer service" and gives it a whole new meaning. It was so appalling from the very first phone call but I do CS work via a call center and I understand that there are some days you just don't feel like answering the phone or helping people; but you pull it together and you be polite. I needed a lift put in my van for a scooter, you would think a simple process! unfortunately if you're disabled your options are few. it appears that Mobility Works is strictly used to dealing with companies that transport handicapped customers in company vehicles. I don't have Medicaid and I don't have Medicare. what I had was $2,000 cash to spend on a lift and i was expecting to be treated with some semblance of respect and dignity. The salesman whose name was Steve Martin was probably the rudest nastiest person I have ever spoken to in an industry that should be sympathetic and understanding to disabled people and their needs. From the first phone call until the last moment I gave him my credit card for payment he had a very nasty attitude a cocky smart Aleck mouth and was very child-like in his behavior, and we are talking about a man probably in his sixties or seventies. There was no excuse for this. We went to the Villa Park location thinking Skokie was too far and judging from a review on here their service was worse. It's really a shame that as theboomer generation depends more and more on Mobility products that we have to deal with the likes of places like Mobility Works who feel that we have to come to them because competition is limited therefore they can treat us any way they like. I don't recommend them. I'm not sure where to recommend anyone to get a lift but I guess shame on me for not researching this more and maybe traveling much further than would have been necessary to get treated decently. I hope more mobility locations open for customers like me who hold $2000.00 cash in our hands and who want a product geared for their needs and not willing to take something because the feds or state is picking up the tab. This place is great! I have rented a van for my mother, who is in a wheelchair, a few times now. The staff is really nice, and the vans have always been really clean and in great shape! I usually drive a compact car, so I was worried that this was going to be like driving a truck, but it was super easy, both to drive, and also to get my mom set up in. Reasonable rates, too! read more

I went to the Villa Park location with my fiance who is also handicapped, and in need of having a new scooter lift installed into our new van. From her first encounter over the phone with Steve, she was left feeling talked to in an inferior manner and talked down to by Steve. When we showed up today that attitude still continued. He rushed us to the 2nd building behind the main building to a waiting room, not explaining we would be there for 4-5hrs, not asking if we were leaving the vehicle or waiting, just rushing us back to the other building. I am disabled as well and brought our 2nd vehicle to be able to leave the van with them for the service but instead he asked me to take the van around to the back and go to the waiting room. Once I did this we were told it would be 4-5 hours. At this point my car was way on the other side of the property. Steve seemed to think we were told this and understood this but then offered to bring my car back to where we were now. We got my car and left returning in about 4hrs deciding to wait the remainder of the time in their waiting room. When done we saw our van pulled into the bay by the waiting room but nobody said anything to us. After about 10min I went to the service desk and was told they were finishing up the paperwork. Steve came by, asked if anyone had showed us the lift and proceeded to show us the lift and taking the scooter out of the van. This is the one point Steve gets for doing this much. Problems continued when inspecting we found the C Hook that mounts to the scooter was not fully bolted tight and had a tech tighten it. During this we found that the locking mechanism that kept the lift boom arm from moving about in the van when the scooter was not loaded was mounted backwards preventing the boom from being able to lock down when in the vehicle, only when swung out which seemed to make no sense at all. You would want the boom arm to lock in place INSIDE the van to prevent it from swinging freely and taking out your rear windows. Anyone who had had a van and a scooter lift will understand this. This lift has a lock specifically to lock it down to prevent this. They mounted the pole with the hole to engage the lock 180 degrees in the wrong direction preventing it from locking when in the vehicle. I pointed this out to Steve who proceeded to have the tech look at it. I looked at it for 2 seconds and could tell all it needed was 3 allen head screws and one bold removed and to turn a pipe 180 degrees to fix the issue. You would think we were taking about building a rocket to launch man into space. Debate and a call to Bruno ensued to qualify the proper placement of said hole in pipe and if it was safe to rotate the pipe, the same pipe that rotates anyway to move the scooter in and out of the van. When the tech returned he said Bruno told him to drill an additional hole into the pipe for the position I want the locking mechanism to lock into place. I pointed out that this seems very extreme not to mention that within that pipe is the wiring that runs the lift itself and may be nicked by the drill. His response was to feel insulted explaining he is a professional of 10 years of doing this work and knows how to drill a hole and not hit a wire. Evidently is 10 years experience failed him in seeing the simple solution in just removing a bolt and rotating the pipe 180 degrees. He finally relented, rotated the pipe and it was finally in the proper place to lock down the boom arm within the van to prevent it from swinging loosely and breaking windows. We spoke with the service manager about how we felt we were treated and the lack of willingness at first to fix a simple solution by the tech and his wanting to go to extremes to eventually fix a problem that had a much simpler solution really seemed to fall on deaf ears. The service manager was polite, but in a tone of saying politely, my people did no wrong, that type of nice. I work in a customer service oriented profession of tech support, understand fixing things for people and dealing with differences of opinions. But I also know that the customer is al...ok, not always right, but most times is and there are times you may not know how to fix something one way but the customer may actually have a simpler way of doing it, and being in a tech support field I'm always willing to learn how to do something better and always willing to let the customer be right.. Mobility companies seem to be so focused on taking charge of what someone gets without question due to them processing the insurance who decide what they will get, that they are not used to dealing with a cash paying customer that says what they want, the way they want it, and take offense to being questioned. Mobility works is this kind of company and not one I would recommend for cash paying customers. read more
