I purchased a Pride Jazzy 27X powered wheelchair in February, 2026 from Geoff at Midwest for $3100…read morecash including tax. The sales receipt notes a $100 discount "for nondelivery" (we took it with us) and a $567 "cash discount." It was a demo but essentially like new due to its being a recently released model from the Pride Corp. Also included in the selling price was a removable cupholder and "complimentary in-store labor" for one year. Several strong positives were experienced while shopping. Geoff has a very nicely configured and stocked store. There is plenty of room for customers to test-drive the various powered chairs. Geoff did not at any point pressure us to buy a chair. He knew his merchandise extremely well and pointed out pros and cons of each of the various chairs we considered. Several helpful suggestions were given regarding the chair we purchased. Finally, Geoff is quite likeable and has excellent people and selling skills. My only issue with Midwest Mobility was pricing. The chair's tagged price was $3699, a full $600 above what the same chair is selling for on Amazon, at other local dealers, and at many on-line dealers. I compared Geoff's price on another chair with those of a couple of other dealers and again found Midwest to be the highest price. I was able to buy for below Geoff's asking price partly because I paid cash but mostly because I knew in advance what the chair was selling for elsewhere. My advice to potential customers is to look but don't buy before you check prices at other dealers and Amazon, which may be lower than Midwest's. Then, if need be, you will be in a much better position to negotiate the purchase price of your mobility device from Midwest.

We went in looking for a solution to allow my husband to sleep after rotator cuff surgery. Terri…read morehelped us by first showing us wedges they had available. He had already tried that and it was worse than our couch recliner. She suggested that renting a powerlift chair might be helpful. It was on the pricier side, but the only other idea she had. Well, we thought about over lunch and just decided to just purchase a chair. Terri showed us the options and let us just try out the chairs on our own time. We never felt rushed. It was obviously more than we originally thought of doing, but we are sure we won't regret it in the future. The only thing that didn't make us happy, and why this isn't four stars, was the price tag. We picked the chair we liked best & thought the price was what was on the tag. There were options below the big price, like heat & massage, which were things that could be added to the base. Oh, but the material that the chair used was on that list (which we didn't realize because it was not a common name). It was not in the large number on the price tag and added $900 to the price. We didn't know this until we were checking out. We do not blame Terri for this, but the company that thought this was a good idea. The tag should have had the final price, before taxes & delivery not the base price if you could buy it off of the floor like we did.

We run a charity and we had a walking pilgrimage planned for months. I twisted my ankle 3 days…read morebefore the pilgrimage and was sure I was not going to go unless I find someone that had a wheelchair. No luck with that, we decided to call many different medical supply companies and Howard was the only responsive company that seemed genuinely interested to help us. We explained what we were doing and Camela was very thrilled when he heard about our charity and event. She was very nice and even suggested a scooter will be better if I want to move more freely on the pilgrimage. She was able to accommodate us in a very special way. I would recommend them to anyone looking for great service from people who care.

She is doing well, still needs a cane but she cannot walk more than a couple of blocks. But, by god, nothing's going to stop her. "I am getting on Amtrak and coming to Chicago!" she tells you. My mother is nothing if not ballsy - or should I say "ovariesy?" I fret, "what are we going to DO with her? She can't keep up with us." This is where Howard Medical Company comes in. This place is the bomb! $15 per day gets you a 18" transport wheelchair (250 lb. weight capacity) - SO easy to fold up, has handles to carry it - fits into your Honda Civic tiny ass trunk. I talked to a woman named Bernie by phone - nice as hell - who says "we have plenty - no need to worry." They open at 8 am - I am there at 8:05 am - assisted by yet another wonderfully nice employee named Jim. He shows me how to fold it, adjust it, etc. This is too easy -pinch me, I am dreaming. I race home to our apt, Metropolis coffee in hand, and say, "Duretta Jean, get in the car - we are Chubby Girl walking at the lake!" Then to Target, then neighborhood strolling, then...oh the possibilities are now endless! A week I was once dreading has now become so much easier. Check them out!
