It was quite interesting to discover that Mochidoki has as physical storefront located in SoHo. I've been very accustomed to seeing them in Whole Foods and other grocery stores. The interesting part is that this storefront sells unique flavors that you can not get at said grocery stores. I got the Bento Box ($15), which lets you choose four different flavors from their display case. They're also a coffee shop, if you didn't know. I wouldn't have known either as I would think they're a mochi ice cream shop. Super friendly staff member that greets everyone with a smile and good attitude. I could probably talk to this guy all day if I could.
To update my previous review, I visited again today and not only do they have THE NICEST friggin people working here, but the Dubai chocolate mochi has to be the best I have ever tasted. So mad I only got one. I'm still a huge fan of the traditional flavors but this one really got me good. It's matcha flavored but the chocolate on top is just absolutely crunchy and delightfully delicious. They'd make a great surprise in place of predictable desserts.
Visited here to get a sweet treat after dinner! I got the bento box (4 pc) to share with my partner and thought it was pretty pricey for $15. I recommend defrosting it a bit after for a better texture! Flavors we tried: - Yuzu Mint: Very citrusy but didn't taste much mint. - Vegan Lychee: This one tasted artificial so I didn't enjoy it as much. - Vanilla Chip: Basic but can't go wrong with it! I liked the chocolate chips for texture inside. - Purple Sweet Potato: I assumed this was Ube, but definitely wrong. Not sure what this flavor reminded me of but it was very unique LOL. Cute spot but
2 stars only for the service. The staff was very nice! Food was a great disappointment. The matcha latter was not hot, even though we asked extra hot, also not mixed well. Bobble tea was very watery and no flavor, water with milk and no tapioca. All the children refused to drink their orders. Mocha was just regular. If you are their only order mocha ice cream nothing else .
We were excited to return to mochidoki but my goodness , the sticker shock made it not worth it! They had 14 flavors and a dozen is $36 but by the time we selected our dozen - the price rose to $56 as we were told several were 'special selection ' yet this was not indicated clearly, if anywhere ! They are good but certainly not over $4.60 a piece good!! And to be honest the regular flavors were better !
Such a unique dessert! I honestly rarely have fresh mochi ice cream. It's always either from the frozen packs at the grocery store or as a dessert at a restaurant, which probably ends up to be the same thing. Mochidoki offers soo many unique flavors of mochi ice cream! It was so difficult to choose some because they all looked delicious. I ended up going with the Carrot Cake and Lychee. The Carrot Cake was waayyy better than the Lychee. The first bite of Carrot Cake was strong in the vanilla and coconut (?) flavors, but the carrot shines through as you continue eating. Very good, and I loved that it isn't a common ice cream flavor! The Lychee was a little disappointing. The ice cream was a very ice-y texture, and it didn't have much flavor. The service was nice enough, we were able to get recommendations on flavors. I will say, this is a really difficult dessert to eat in the winter. The shop is super tiny, and there's no seating inside. We had to go to some benches at a park across the street, and it was super cold (at least the ice cream didn't melt though!). I'd love to try more flavors in the future!
Mochidoki is delicious!! It's been so hard finding vegan mochi ice cream and I'm so happy to have found this place!! In store, there were 5 different vegan flavors but I went with the passionfruit! The oat milk and coconut base for the ice cream was so creamy and delicious!! I really loved the flavor and having the option to just purchase one instead of a pack. The service was super quick since you just select what you want and you get it immediately. It's more of a pick-up place so little to no seating available, but it's perfect for a snack on the go! I really enjoyed this place and can't wait to try more!!
We were waiting for our table at Sugarfish and popped in here to try a couple of the mochi's, coconut and I forgot the other one since it didn't really have any flavor for two seemed a little excessive! I think you could buy a pack of mochi at Trader Joe's for less. I guess if there's a market for a mochi store, this is the place to go! The name is definitely cute! I would probably come back here and give it another chance!
Interesting mochi flavors We passed by this place and couldn't resist going in. They have a lot of unique machi flavors that I have not seen before. We went for the lychee and acai cacao crunch. Lychee was very fruity and actually surprisingly tart. Acai was sweet with nice crunchy bits throughout. Overall high quality with interesting flavors.
Love this mochi!!!! I got matcha, coconut, milk & cereal and ube. I loved them all but i think the milk & cereal and the ube were probably my favorites because the ice cream was creamier on the inside. If you've never had mochi before, this is the perfect place to try it out! read more

I gave in and ordered $60 worth of mochi ice cream shipped from NYC to CHI. I ordered Red Bean, Milk Candy (limited edition flavor) and Passion Fruit. 4 pieces of mochi ice cream will cost you $10. They ship using insulated coolers packed with dry ice. The mochi ice cream I received was as fresh as it can be. The mochi on the outside was very smooth and soft. It tasted like it was freshly made. If you compare the mochi ice cream from grocery stores, you can clearly taste a bit of a difference. If i get a chance to travel again, I will definitely make a pit stop at Mochidoki when i'm in NYC and try their other flavors. read more
These mochi ice creams were delicious and so creative. I love how much flavor you can get in a bite. We got 4 of the specialty mochis making this a very pricey dessert at ~$20, but I think it's worth the splurge to try something different. All of the mochi ice cream I've had are the basic flavors with no toppings or anything, so I was surprised when I saw this spread. The ube was my favorite with marshmallow top, but I'm a little biased since I'm a sucker for all things ube. The other flavors I got were red bean, matcha latte, and strawberry. All of the flavors were very strong and came through with each bite. I liked how the premium ones had toppings to accompany the mochi ice cream. The mochi ice cream I was most pleasantly surprised by was the red bean which came covered in chocolate. The hard outside and chewy center gave a lot of different textures that worked well together. Finally got to try all the flavors and now I can finishing writing my review! This is a review is for my online order a week ago. I've been seeing their ads on Instagram and Facebook a lot lately, they secretly know I want to try some mochi ice cream so they've been following me! It's definitely working! I was a bit hesitant to order at the beginning since they have a minimum spend of $60 per order for delivery. Wasn't sure if I wanted to spend so much on getting mochi ice cream, but I still ended up ordering them since I wanted to try different flavors and they have a box that comes with a mix of all kinds of flavors. Their signature collection is $60 and comes with 12 flavors, 2 pieces each. I got 2 other flavors on the side, Milk Candy and Lychee that I wanted to try which wasn't part of the set. So out of all the flavors I tried, listing out the ones I liked in order of preference: Milk Candy, Passion Fruit, Strawberry, Black Sesame/Salted Caramel/Chocolate/Matcha are a tie. Lychee was a bit disappointing and tasted more like coconut mixed in, it's honestly skippable for me. For the price and the minimums, it does feel a bit expensive (the mochi size is pretty small), but this is great for sharing and I guess good for a gift if you're going to a friend's party. Some of them are pretty sweet so I wouldn't be able to eat a whole piece by myself (except for milk candy and passion fruit, those are so good). Shipping does come pretty quickly! I got the delivery in 2 days after placing my order! It came in a huge box with dry ice to keep it cold. I shared mine with my family and it's fun trying all the flavors, definitely some fancy dessert to treat yourself during this quarantine time! I recommend these flavors: Milk candy - rabbit bunny milk candy, it looks pretty too in blue! Passion fruit - one of my favorite fruits :) may be a bit tart for some people but I thought it was just right and not too sweet like some other flavors, this one is purple on the outside! Strawberry - pretty good and refreshing Salted caramel - tasted more like vanilla ice cream, I think it's better than vanilla chip for me Black Sesame - not too heavy, smooth creamy taste Chocolate - I'm not a huge fan of chocolate usually, but this was good! not too sweet. Matcha - a bit sweeter than expected, but decent Skippable: Lychee - tasted more like coconut but not as good as the actual coconut flavor one, I didn't like it as much Raspberry crunch - it had weird chunks that didn't taste like raspberry... not great Thai tea - I love drinking Thai iced tea usually but this just isn't the right flavor, feels watered down Red bean/Mango - both are a little too sweet imo read more
What a cute spot. This came up on my list as I was searching for nearby gluten free desserts. It was next door to the vet clinic I was working at for the day. This is definitely more of an upscale dessert which means it is a bit on the more expensive side. I was alerted that all the flavors were GF except the banana pudding. I got the mango mochi, vanilla chip, Salted Caramel and everything bagel. They offer ice for an additional $2 if you aren't going to eat it right away. They were also giving out free samples of an ice cream that was going to be on the menu. My favorite flavor was the Mango and my least favorite was the everything bagel. It didn't mesh well with the ice cream but I had to try out a unique flavor. Overall the space was clean and the staff was friendly. read more
A small detour after a Soho shopping run -- It was evening and our stomachs were just grumbly enough for this place to catch our eye and for us to ubiquitously agree to go inside. It didn't take us long to decide on a 12 piece combination. I chose lychee (vegan), PASSIONFRUIT (vegan), jasmine boba and black sesame for myself. The worker put them in a four piece to go box for us. Later, when we ate them, every single one hit. We brought them home on the metro so they were soft and tender and absolutely melt in your mouth. The vegan ones were just as good as the nonvegan ones. I have to say the passionfruit and the jasmine boba were especially standout. The texture and flavors of this place is honestly unmatched in terms of ice cream mochi for me. The mochi is soft and pulls nicely and has a bit of nice bounciness and the ice cream inside was creamy and flavorful. I tried my friends ube purple sweet potato which was less flavorful but that may have been because they used real sweet potato and not extract. Price is high but def worth a try. read more
I loved the mochi ice cream here! My boyfriend and I got the matcha and lychee flavor. Both were so yummy. They have vegan flavors available too! Definitely overpriced ($3) for its size but it was worth a try. The servers were nice and friendly. Mochidoki is super close to many other restaurants so it's location is pretty convenient! There's no seating inside and the store itself is quite small. Overall rating: 9/10 read more

Wonderful mochi ice cream in a broad range of flavors that taste exactly as advertised! However, they're definitely pricier than the competition and don't seem to be made on-site. So if you're on a budget, stop by a grocery store and pick up another brand (or even this one) and you'll get much of the same stuff while saving a few bucks. read more
Mochidoki has super high quality mochi ice cream and it's so creamy and delicious! They have great flavors and their treats are so flavorful and refreshing. A little pricey, but super high quality. High tea signature creation: one of their signature mochi ice cream creations, this earl grey mochi is topped with white cocolate, pecan and banana chip. A one-of-a-kind unique creation and probably more of an art masterpiece than a dessert haha Coconut mochi ice cream: this one surprised me! The coconut flavor was extremely fragrant and their were bits of coconut in the ice cream that definitely added the extra kick to the texture of the dessert as a whole! I would definitely get this one if you are looking for something a bit more classic but still has that extra something special read more
If you're into mochi ice cream, this is a decent place to stop by with some unique options (though not as many as advertised depending on what's in supply). Gets cheaper if you're in a big group and buy more. 5/5 service: came by on a Wedn night right before closing and were the only customers in the shop. The guy was helpful with recommendations and checked in the back for flavors that seemed sold out in the counter, but they seem to have a good supply in the back. If you order the omakase (12 mochis), you're gifted an insulated bag with dry ice. 3/5 flavors: some hits, some misses, lots of flavors that you could get at Trader Joe's or a Costco. I highly recommend the passionfruit and mango. The acai cacao was very cacao forward so it depends if you're into that. The lychee was strange and almost flavorless so hard pass. read more
Mochidoki is an artisan mochi spot that has a great variety of flavors! This was my first time visiting the store so I took some time to decide on flavors, and I'm glad the staff were patient with me. I went with the 12pk mochi for $30 which came with their insulated bag and dried ice. I live an hour away, so my mochi survived the commute. They also have vegan options! Great for those with dietary restrictions. :) My favorite flavors so far are the: espresso, ube, red bean, lychee, and vanilla choco chip. read more

Received a box shipment of assorted mochi ice cream bites as a gift from Mochidoki. The 24 piece Signature Collection was shipped in a styrofoam container cooled with dry ice. The mochi ice cream bites were displayed in a plastic tray and neatly arranged in a box. Following the packaged instruction which requires freezing 2 hrs to temper the ice cream upon delivery, I decided to serve the bites the following day. The mochi bites were surprisingly soft and chewy. The flavored ice cream fillings (MATCHA, RED BEAN, VANILLA CHIP, CHOCOLATE, PASSION FRUIT - VEGAN, LYCHEE - VEGAN, BLACK SESAME, UBE, SALTED CARAMEL, STRAWBERRY, ESPRESSO, COCONUT - VEGAN) were delicious; each flavor was a surprise to the taste buds. I definitely plan to visit the store and try the nicely decorated looking ones that I see in the other reviews. read more
I came here because I saw it on tiktok and I absolutely love mochi icecream and I've never seen an actual dessert place that sells it as its only product. I've seen it sold in grocery stores like Whole Foods and Trader Joes but I wanted to try it from a place where I'd get it fresh and not pre-packaged. They are located in Soho and the interior is a pristine white and the mochi icecreams are on display as soon as you walk in. I ordered the bento box for $10 consisting of 4 mochi icecreams: the lychee, espresso, vanilla chip, and matcha. Be careful that the more decorative mochi icecreams (espresso and matcha) are a bit more expensive so my bento box came out to like $15 before tax. Unfortunately, I was walking around Soho with my friend so 4/5 of them melted and I didn't want them to burst as soon as I took a bite so I just put the whole thing in my mouth. Just think of it like eating a really cold soup dumpling at once - I wouldn't recommend if you have sensitive teeth. Anyways, I'm a bit disappointed that I didn't eat the others whlie they were still frozen which is no fault of the place but at least I did try the lychee before they all melted. Lychee - sooo delicious. tasted like actual lychee and was tart and a tad sour at the same time. Espresso - coffee like taste, decorated with chocolate whipping and garnish Matcha - true matcha flavor that was decorated with green whipping and matcha dusting Vanilla chip - a standard flavor that tasted like vanilla bean and had good texture Overall, I would recommend this place if you're craving mochi icecream or want to try it, but it is on the pricier side of things. Previously only available online via shipping and in some popups around NYC, the mochi brand now has a new storefront serving their great mochi plus lots of elaborate new special flavors. The must must try, probably because peanut butter and passionfruit are my favorites, is the PB Passion flavor, which is incredible and also happens to be vegan. There's also a giant Oreo situation that I need to go back for ASAP. read more
Visually stunning and they got some interesting flavors. We got lychee, passion fruit, kakigori, and apple pie. The lychee one definitely had a subtle lychee flavor which was nice. I was not a big fan of the passionfruit. The sourness of the ice cream didn't work with the mochi on the outside. The apple pie definitely reminded me of autumn. The red bean in the kakigori was extremely mild and somewhat overpowered by the white chocolate. Overall, lychee was definitely a favorite. In terms of pricing, it's a little on the high end. The box of 4 is only $10 for the regular ones and we ended up paying $15 since we got apple pie and kakigori. Not sure if I'll come back. I'm not exactly sold on this. read more
I love traditional mochi. I like mochi ice cream. Mochidoki is definitely good at offering a large variety of mochi ice cream for the masses but at what amounts to about 3-5 bucks per mochi, it's just so so for me. The flavor menu is pretty large - probably about 15-20 flavors but many of them fall flat. The Asian flavors like red bean, green tea, passionfruit and lychee were far better than their western counterparts (i.e. red velvet). On the plus side, they do package the desserts in a cold bad with dry ice for free which ensures that your purchase doesn't melt. Overall their product is just OK (although I don't know if anyone can make ice cream mochi all that great). For the price, I didn't think it was that much better than the ones you get from an Asian supermarket. If you want to try for the novelty, go for it but I don't know if it's worth going back more than once. read more
My love for mochi ice cream started when I was a kid in the freezer aisle. Now that they have a freshly made mochi spot with all the Asian flavors, what could go wrong? Besides their fancy packaging, they also offer a cooling bag during their travels to prevent them from melting during your commute. Pricey but worth it. read more

Lots of flavor options was honestly overwhelmed (in the best way). Did the bento box so got 4. Choose (In order of favorite): Red Bean, Purple Sweet Potato, Vanilla Chip, and Hazelnut. The Hazelnut was vegan and the others were so good I didn't even finish it, but I'm also not vegan. A fun little treat! Similar pricing to any macaroon place. Only note that is if your teeth are sensitive to cold you may not have a good experience because you have to bite into the ice cream. read more

Super cute dessert shop dedicated to mochi ice cream! They have a bunch of dairy and non-dairy options which was great. They sell one piece for $3, 4, for $10 and 12 for $20, so we ended up getting a 12 piece box to split. All the flavors we got were delicious! Finished dinner and thought we can look for some sweets! Came across this mochi store on yelp and told myself I had to try it!! I didn't look at all the pictures but I thought regardless if you buy 4, you'll get a box. But I figured that was not the case, which was a bit disappointing because we wanted it for instagram. As we enter the store, the person behind the counter did not greet us until I said hi. I felt as though he was very tired from working and we didn't feel welcome. Anyway, the options for mochi with the toppings were limited, there were only two in the showcase. We had lychee, mango, purple sweet potato and white chocolate caramel popcorn. The mango piece was very hard, assuming he just took it out, it had a tint of coconut in it which I didn't enjoy. The white chocolate caramel was just caramel drizzle, the white chocolate didn't taste like white chocolate. The purple sweet potato had little flavor. The lychee was just WEIRD. We tasted the lychee, but as you keep it in your mouth, you'll taste a bit.. plastic-y.. a bit like detergent. But that was the worst one. Overall, I don't think I'll be back again. I had never had mochi, but I love ice cream. This little shop was adorable. The mochi looked almost like perfect little pastel macarons. I tried the pistachio and the milk and cereal. Because I was not used to the texture of mochi it caught me a little by surprise but the flavor was fantastic. I would try it again for sure. read more

This place was great! Came here after dinner a few paces away and it was the perfect treat. They have several flavors of mochi covered ice cream. The ones that were the most interesting to me were the fruit flavored ones. The staff member there said the most popular ones were black sesame and cereal milk. We got the passion fruit and lychee; both were delicious. I do have to say that some of their popular flavors run out throughout the day (for instance, we came close to closing at 9:30p on Friday night and there were no more black sesame flavored mochi left). The items are also pretty pricey. Each one is $3.25, a box of 4 is $12 and a box of 12 is $30. Though there is this cool trick where you can buy dry ice for $2 to keep the mochi ice cream longer in the deep fridge (up to a month). Neat! Overall, loved the vibe of this small shop and the items were actually pretty good. Will be back here or the other location to try the different flavors! read more

What a grand idea to have a shop that sells mochi! The items are beautifully displayed and you'll be salivating over an edible rainbow while contemplating which to order. I had a hard time so we went with a bento box and got 4: black sesame, matcha, red bean, and ube. They happen to be sitting all next to each other so it was relatively easy for us to decide and the counter person to grab. It was a tie for which tasted best: black sesame and ube. Notable mention is that the green tea was actually pretty prominent when a lot of desserts that tout they have matcha usually cannot be detected when consumed so here, here! What really let me down was none other than the red bean; it was icey, it was flavorless, it was saddening to eat as the last mochi when we were on a high with the previous 3 that were on top of the red bean in our cup. Everything here is great, except for the sorbet flavors. The sorbets tend to be too icy and taste very artificially flavored so I would stay away from those. Also, this place is definitely a bit pricey for its portion sizes and you can probably find a lot of alternative, more filling dessert options in the city. Besides that though, the ice cream flavors all truly were phenomenal. I don't know if I would come back here but for what it's worth, I had a great time when I did go! read more

Good variety of flavors and seasonal flavors, but if you're ordering online and outside of the NYC area it'll be limited and pricey. They make you order a full size box and won't let you customize. They offer a best seller to try and it was good, but if you want to try any other flavors you'll have to get one $60 box for one flavor. Lack of customization makes it hard for repeat customers outside of NY. Also contacting them by email is pointless. No one bee responds. read more
I ordered Mochi Doki for my family in South Carolina. I got them a 24 mochi variety set and they loved it so much. The flavors ranged from Matcha, Thai Tea, Passionfruit, Mango, Vanilla Chip, Salted Caramel, Strawberry, Black Sesame, Raspberry Crunch, Chocolate, Red Bean, Coconut. I think our favorite flavors were the Passionfruit, matcha, chocolate chip and the thai tea! Honestly all the flavors were delicious. The quickness of shipping and packaging was so efficient. I highly recommend trying this place if anyone is in NY. If you do not live in NY then definitely order it from the comfort of your home.
