    Matcha soft serve taiyaki
    Emily X.

Kiosk to order food. Tiny place with only one person working. Soft serve was pretty good, but the taiyaki tasted kind of stale.

Step into a scene straight out of your favorite K-drama (yes I saw it on a Kdrama and not a Jdrama). Taiyaki, a delightful Japanese treat, caught my eye after its enchanting portrayal on screen. Intrigued by its appearance, I couldn't resist the urge to experience this delectable delight firsthand. I chose the Taiyaki filled with Nutella, and it was a heavenly match of flavors (you can't go wrong with Nutella) that left me yearning for more. While my friends indulged in Matcha Ice Cream with Taiyaki cone, a choice I respectfully declined due to personal preference, I found solace in the rich and velvety Nutella filling. At approximately $7 per Taiyaki, I find the price a tad steep. So I shall keep this only for my cherished cheat days when indulgence knows no bounds. I revisited and tried a vanilla ice cream with oreo sprinkles and nutella filling (inside the cone) this time! SO DELICIOUS

    Sweet potato taiyaki

Priceyyy ($7) but worth the novelty. The perfect cross between crispy and sticky--soft and glutinous mochi wrapped in a wafer-like crust. The inside was a super sweet and full of piping-hot japanese sweet potato. The sweet potato filling could've used a little less sugar, but it was so smooth and decadent and paired well with the soft mochi. There were no places to sit, but there were plenty of shops to explore as we snacked.

This place is amazing. The service is so good and the taiyaki is delicious!! I've been coming here for over a year now and it's still super good!

Matcha Taiyiki & Red Bean Taiyaki

Tokyo Taiyaki is such an underrated spot because it is hidden on the second floor but their dessert did not miss. I got the red bean taiyaki and the taiyaki cone with a variety of toppings and it was sooo good. The bread was fresh and mochi-like and paired perfectly with the red bean. I loved the matcha ice cream!! It was incredibly creamy and the flavor profile of the matcha was not too sweet and not bitter either. I think their matcha lattes are a nice addition but the desserts definitely shine through. I think they deserve extra love since they are a one-man store!

Cute little store with friendly staffs. They don't have any sitting, so it just grab & go.

The best hot sweet treat you could get in NYC! They have fresh and delicious taiyaki! You need to try it if you haven't already. They have so many different types of fillings and I wanted to try all of them. We tried the custard, Nutella, red bean, and hotteok. My favorite was the hotteok since I haven't had a taiyaki with that filling before. I usually go for the Nutella taiyaki and it was amazing too! Need to visit again soon to try their soft serve too!

Fresh made in front of you. The dough is cooked to perfection of chewy and soft. On a cold winter day, it will warm you right up. There is no room to sit so be prepared to walk around with the delicious treat.

Undercooked Taiyaki. There wasn't enough filling and the dough was underbaked so it was just a strange mush.

We walked into a space that stood out compared to many smaller bubble tea shops, with a much more comfortable setup and plenty of seating that made it a place where we could actually sit down and enjoy our drink instead of just grabbing it to go. The clean interior and modern décor gave it a relaxed café feel, and watching the staff prepare the boba added a layer of engagement to the experience. The brown sugar milk boba is the main highlight and the drink that best represents what the shop does well. We ordered one and found the brown sugar flavor rich and caramel-like without becoming overly sweet, and the fresh-made boba had a softer, chewier texture compared to many standard tapioca pearls. The drink had a good balance between the sweetness, milk, and tea flavors, which made it easy to enjoy even for those who normally prefer less sugary drinks. Beyond the signature brown sugar drinks, there were also a variety of fruit teas, milk teas, and specialty options. The oolong milk tea stood out because the tea flavor came through more clearly, while fruit-based options like lychee drinks offered a lighter and more refreshing choice. The ability to customize sweetness levels also made it easier to find a drink that matched our preference. The service was quick and the staff were friendly during our visit. Since the boba is made fresh in-house, watching the preparation process gave the shop a more unique feel compared to typical chain bubble tea spots. The larger seating area was also a nice advantage, especially if we wanted to meet up with friends or take a break while exploring Koreatown. The team moved through orders efficiently, and the drinks came out without much delay. Overall, Xing Fu Tang Ktown is a strong choice for anyone looking for high-quality boba in a comfortable setting. The fresh-made pearls, well-balanced drinks, and spacious café atmosphere make it stand out from many other bubble tea shops in the area. It is a spot we would return to when we want a drink that feels more thoughtfully prepared rather than just a quick sweet beverage.

I've never tried a Japanese cheesecake before and was extremely excited to be able to pick up some treats for my coworkers as well as my partner's birthday cake from Keki. Ordering is fairly straightforward and done with a simple machine outfront. Once your order is ready one of the staff members hands it to you through a window; there is no inside area accessible to customers but our food came quickly and we took it back to the office. The cheesecake was fantastic. I read a bit about the background of the shop online and how the owner really cares about using high-quality ingredients, specifically dairy. It was justas described, light and bouncy. I enjoyed how it was not overly sweet and found that it was all too easy to devour the entire cake over the course of two days. Despite it not having much weight to it, it traveled surprisingly well as I took it home on my three train commute! Similar to what others have said, the real highlight of the shop, in my opinion, are their cream puffs. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but the outer layer was thin yet had a nice little crunch to it. We tried the classic milk, cookies & cream pistachio and ube flavors. Our favorite was the pistachio by far, which had such a unique yet decadent flavor and our second favorite was the milk cream puff. There's not much else I can say other than you really have to go here and try the desserts yourself. If you're a fan of Japanese desserts that are rich yet not too sweet, you'll be a fan of Keki.

And I commonly see the upstairs for private events like baby showers, bridal showers, or birthday parties on social media. After dinner with my friends, I was looking for dessert and I was glad to see this location closes relatively late on a weekday night at 11 pm. Upon walking in, I was greeted by a waiter who led us to one of the purple velvet chair booths that was perfect for two people and another waiter brought us a pitcher of water almost immediately. The menu is on a QR code already on the table and we were given ample of time to decide. My friend and I both already knew what we wanted to order. I got the purple Yam Souffle which takes 25 minutes to make and my friend got the fried squid tails. We also got a signature Rose Green Milk Tea to share. The waitress who took our order has great memory and recalled all of our items without writing it down. She also reminded me that I could adjust the ice and sugar levels of my drink which I had completely forgotten and would have got annoyed if my drink came out 100% sweetness. Another thing is that my drink order frequently comes out wrong at other locations so I was glad she got it right! Green tea instead of black tea and with milk instead of without milk. The purple Yam Souffle is just like the other locations. Hot, soft cakey texture balanced with an ice cold red bean Ice-Cream. So delicious! The squid tails on the other hand was not what we expected. It came out burnt and hard. The outer batter was not crispy either. We informed one of the waiters and he brought it back to inform the kitchen staff. We received a new batch that was not as burnt and had more flavoring this time around. However, the squid was still hard and not like the ones we get from other locations with smaller crispier pieces. Overall, it was still a good experience and I love the decorations at this location! This might be my second favorite location after the Flushing one. Would love to come back for brunch or hi-tea. Or regular food options when I have not already eaten dinner. My usual go-tos are the twister fries, Santa Fe chicken rolls, fried salted crispy chicken, and the trio dessert combo. However, this location has a lot more variety! FYI - there are two unisex restrooms in the rear for customers to use with really cute wallpapers too.

We ordered potted rose milk tea to share, Dubai affogato and Brown Sugar Boba Mille Crêpes Cake. We came on a Friday around 4pm. Originally I wanted to try the strawberry matchamisu, however, was told that it sold out. What a bummer. The rose milk tea came with a themed pot and cups which is really cute. The rose fragrant smelled so good and the milk tea also tasted good and has a hint of rose taste. The cake was good, the boba was well cooked, chewy and flavorful! This time there was an unpleasant experience. At first when the Dubai affogato was served, we did not realize that the amount of the coffee was little until we saw another customer's dish that the volume of their coffee looked significantly more than ours. My friend brought it to the waitress attention but the waitress brushed it off and did not acknowledge our concern. When we finished and were about to leave, the same waitress came over and showed us that the container of the coffee was different and hence the volume of the coffee looked different. At this point, we did not care for it anymore. We would have been fine if the staff acknowledged our concern. We thought that maybe using standardized containers for the coffee would avoid this problem. Other than that, the food and drinks were good.
