Not your typical ice cream spot but definitely a must try. Decided to go with the Onyx Coconut and Ube with the torched cone. Since it was our first try, staff was very good at explaining all our options. Even stepped out to show off toasting the marshmallow cone. Entire place has a low light vibe but not too dark. Great break from the sun.
Very unique ice cream! Was not expecting to like this place but went with my girlfriend anyways and honestly was surprised by how good it tasted. Service was okay, the girl behind the counter didn't say much but was kind. Love the vibe of the restaurant though, very low light / neon greenery vibes. Not a vegan ice cream guy but honestly will probably comeback at some point.

However, there is street parking available Service was friendly and welcoming. Pricing was a little expensive. Expect to pay $9 for a scoop of ice cream and matcha/coffee drinks were $4-$7 Got the Ube & Thai Tea Soft Serve ($9) - the ice cream was very sweet and creamy. The flavor of ube was quite subtle. For $9 for a scoop of ice cream, I would have expected it to have a richer ube flavor. The Thai Tea was just as disappointing and couldn't taste the flavor of Thai tea at all. This was 6/10 The Oynx Coconut ($9) was very sweet and didn't have much of a coconut flavor. It was extremely black so expect to have a black tongue after! This was 6/10 Most likely won't return or recommend unfortunately.

Stopped by on a Saturday afternoon while out doing a little bit of shopping. I saw this spot had some unique ice cream flavors and black ice cream cones, so we wanted to try it out. The Ube/Onyx Coconut swirl was a delicious flavor combo, the ice cream itself was just the right consistency and really hit the spot on a hot day. The cones were a bit hard, so I think if we stop by again three our of the four of us would get a cup instead. The addition of adding on toasted marshmallows is a nice touch, it smelled great and my mom loved it on her cone. My daughter tried the sea salt. It was pretty tasty as well, the salt wasn't overpowering. The décor inside is fun & cozy, when we stopped by there was no one else there so we had our choice of seating.
The soft serve here is very good but I wasn't super in love with the iced onyx matcha I'd gotten (though it came highly recommended by the server). It was very floral-y and kind of bitter. The matcha flavors didn't come through very well for my tastes. Would come back for ice cream if I was in the area! If you're sensitive to food dyes or colorings you may want to avoid this place though!

Overall, we enjoyed the light and refreshing flavors of the ice cream. This was a great place to come grab a sweet treat to escape the heat for a while. All of the staff here are very friendly and welcoming. Make sure to stay connected with their social media to see when they rotate and introduce different flavors!

The owner was there and answered all of our questions and made some recommendations too! I decided to try the Thai Tea and Ube combined flavors. I also got the burnt marshmallow topping on the cone and that was really delicious! The ice cream was good! I also ordered the saguaro flavored ice cream to go, which was dairy free and that was actually my favorite flavor! There was a courtyard outside where people could hang out. Parking was available out front, but it might be harder to find parking when it's busier. Can't wait to come back!

5 stars for the yummiest ice cream! Great new spot offering unique flavors such as UBE! My Hawaiian roots were so excited -- I love ube (purple yam) in desserts! We also tried the coconut, saguaro, and sea salt flavors -- all were delicious! The saguaro and sea salt swirl was bright and refreshing. The ube and coconut swirl was super creamy and comforting. The colors of the ice cream are so much fun and absolutely instagram-worthy (including their cute shop itself). Service was very kind and quick. Will be visiting again for sure!

Yummy soft serve with a rotating selection of flavors that are anything but basic. Current Mexican Chocolate special has a cinnamon spice kick. Onyx coconut is sweet and creamy, pretty black goodness. Portions are generous. Worth checking out if you are in the region. read more

We enjoyed this soft serve shop. They had Ube, Coconut, and an Apple Pie special for July 4th. The toasted marshmallow on the cone is delicious. And we both agreed Coconut was the best flavor. We also took pints Pandan, and Yuzu home to try. Yuzu was an intense lemon sorbet. Pandan was a creamy nutty, vanilla, green flavor. The black cones are nice and crunchy, they remind me of brown sugar/caramel flavor. The shop is cool retro 80's. There is a green area and they provide blankets for ice cream picnics, a nice touch. Worth a visit. Their neighbors are a Thai place, a Ramen place, and a Mexican place. And now we want to try those. Nice area for a lunch date. read more

Amazing service and delicious ice cream. We arrived around 3:30pm and it wasn't too busy inside but then a huge group arrived after us and really crowded us out. It made waiting/ordering super uncomfortable because both the kids and the adults did not understand personal space. The inside is super cool with funky 80s electric vibes. The space is super small, felt like a hallway closet. Needs a better line system. I ordered the ube and coconut swirl in a cone with toasted marshmallow fluff on the cone. The cone was so unique and so good. Really complimented the ice cream. The Ube x coconut was good but really cancelled out each other's flavors. For those sweet tooth lovers in the area, try this new ice cream spot! They gave free parking in the lot and the owner is super nice. He walked us through the different flavors and I learned they rotate the flavors weekly! I believe they also showcase a new flavor each month which I'm all about. There's also some picnic blankets in a shelf near the back door if you want to sit in their super cute shaded outdoor area. Now let's talk about flavors. I'm sure you want to know... was it worth it? Yes! We tried the coconut and ube twisted flavors. Now I'm a huge ube fan and coconut fan. These flavors were spot on! The saguaro (pink color) was the best!!! Almost tasted like a light sorbet. When visiting my son in Arizona the first thing I said was where are we eating? Surprising the first thing he said was ice cream at ONYX ice cream. After eating Ramen at Mensho this was only a minute walk away as it is the same complex. There are a few more restaurants in this complex and I recommend having dessert here after dinner. The inside had a cool vibe with neon lights and a digital menu board. All of the flavors are soft serve and they rotate flavors. They have something unique here which I never saw before. There is an option of getting your cone torched for only $2! I was extremely interested and the young lady working here described what it was and I was sold. She bastes the cone with marshmallow and then hits it with the torch. I paired this with the Ube ice cream and it was a great combination. There is some seating in the shop and we ate here. I really enjoyed my Ube with the torched cone and would come back here. My son was also correct that this was my favorite bite during my short trip to Phoenix! read more

Wow wow wow. I am a massive fan of sea salt ice cream and they pulled it off! It is one of my favorite flavors and it is so great to see it pop up in this part of the valley. You have the option of toasted and not toasted. (Which is toasted marshmallows on the cone) You can also pick cup or cone. They have a number of flavors like Ube, Saguaro, etc. Despite being very busy service was fast, friendly, and great! This place is such a vibe. The decor and interior is very chill with the purple colors. There is a beautiful courtyard outside connected to a bunch of other local spots as well which is nice. Very quaint inside, trendy look. Cool open outside area you can go out and they even have blankets if you wanna picnic it. Man who served me was very friendly. The ice cream was just fantastic and I adored the toasted marshmallow on the delicious cone. We also tried the sea salt ice cream and they aren't kidding, that ice cream is salty as hell but also good as hell. Very pleased. Parking sucks balls, but what can ya do. My wife and I had the Ube Ice Cream for the first time at 36 below and we were instantly obsessed. That amazing flavor was such a pleasant surprise. We loved it so much we had to drive 30 minutes to the source for some more. It did not disappoint. The torched marshmallow cone is the perfect addition to this divine soft serve. Great and friendly service. The shop itself is beautiful and clean. So worth the drive and can't wait for our next visit. read more
