I was so pleasantly surprised to see the familiar giant donut sign while visiting a friend. if you're not familiar with Randy's, you can't miss the giant donut but they're ICONIC in California with their giant donut. the drive thru was easy and the person working couldn't be more friendly! We had got the Randy's Rounds (basically their donut holes). All tasted really fresh from the maple glazed to M&M topped. These are more yeasted/raised type donuts rather than cake-y donuts. So, if that's your jam, Randy's is a good affordable option. read more

I was so excited when I heard that Randy's was coming to AZ! They have a drive thru which is a plus if you're in a rush. Plenty of parking in a private lot and customer service was friendly. The shop was clean and they had a pretty good assortment in the afternoon available. We went with a glazed crondy which is their version of a croissant donut. It was pretty heavy and didn't have much flavor. We also got a dozen assorted of their donut holes. They tasted like they were old. I just have to say that these are probably the best donuts I've had in my life. They are beautiful and they take so much care in preserving the way they should look in my opinion. I had the their donuts when I went to my mom's apartment. She lives in a senior living community and Randy's donate donuts for the residence. I think this is such a nice thing to do and I know that the residence feel special. A lot of these people most of them can't get out of their house so having Randy's drop off boxes of donuts for them is such a caring thing to do. Thank you so much. read more

Good donuts, cute aesthetics but the experience is lacking. I can't tell if they're understaffed or they just have disgruntled employees. I have zero issue waiting for the drive thru attendant to take payment. I also have zero issue that the employees aren't the friendliest. I do have an issue when I order and I feel like I'm inconveniencing them. I totally get if it's a few times here and there but it is consistently. Again maybe they're just chronically understaffed but it's never a good experience to order here. read more

My office sometimes treats us to Friday donuts from the local shops and Randy's has been my favorite. I love, love, love a simple donut with chocolate icing (sprinkles or none). I grew up in Culver City and never tried Randy's. Saw one here in town and got so excited! We finally tried it and I say with sadness that it's just o-k. We tried a maple glazed cake, my favorite type of donut that I try everywhere I go. The donut was a little dry and had a stale texture. Phenomenal donuts! The glazed raised and coconut raised donuts were fresh, perfectly chewy and soft. The store was clean and well cooled. Quick service with a smile. The interior of the store is very clean with a couple of tables. It's not really designed to be a place to hang out. Ordering at the counter is easy. The donuts/maple bars are wonderful. Fresh and tasty. The drive through is easy although tough if you are driving south on 7th in the morning as there are no left turns allowed between 6 and 9 am! I heard about Randy's Donuts years ago on the Food Network and have wanted to try them, not knowing that there is an AZ location. I was so excited when I passed by one day and saw it! I had a chance to go today and was left really disappointed. First of all, the drive thru wasn't working and when I let the worker know about it, he just shrugged his shoulders and said that nothing came through on his end, no concern that the drive thru needed fixing. I decided to buy a half dozen to share with family and try little bits of each, including the huge chocolate crondy. Unfortunately, I was really disappointed. Mind you, I came at 3:30pm and they close at 6 so I wasn't getting the freshest donuts but still, they need to make sure that donuts stay as fresh as possible for customers from open to close. I was given some free donut holes which was super nice but unfortunately they just didn't do it. They were stale and oily and the icing was hard and falling off them. That was actually the case with every donut I got today. The chocolate crondy disappointed me the most. Just a huge flat croissant donut that was oily and stale with chocolate icing. It didn't look the best when I was picking out donuts but they are a specialty there so I decided to try one. Ugh, ya, hopefully they taste much better right when they are made. The maple churro donut had 2 mini churros on them and the churros were dense and chewy. I spent $15 and was left very disappointed. I'm willing to try Randy's again another time in the morning, but won't be going out of my way to get them. I'm giving 3 stars because I got free donut holes which was really nice so that deserves credit and the donuts weren't absolutely horrible that they deserved a 1, so a 3 feels right. read more

Randy's Donuts Can't miss where Randy's Donuts location is with the 10 ft Donut in front that says "Randy's Donuts" on it. We did the drive thru which was fast and easy, swung around, ordered and up to the window to pickup and pay. These are the four donuts that we chose: Chocolate Crondy Glazed Crondy The Crondy Donuts were good, layers of delicious bites just like a croissant, I would recommend the chocolate one. Maple Raised with Churros was great tasty treat, loved the maple over the Donut and the sweetness of the churro was perfect. Texas Glazed is a classic soft and sweet, guess I will need to take another Metformin to get my glucose down. read more

I was so excited to learn Randy's Donuts, and LA classic, was expanding into Phoenix. I understand there's a learning curve when opening a new store, but there's lots of room for improvement. First is the facility. I can understand why a restaurant in this part of town and in this street would be appealing, though I believe this exact one was a mistake. Donut shops must be prepared for heavy morning traffic. Not only is it on the wrong side of the street to accommodate morning inbound traffic, but the drive through area is both tight and confusing. Drivers don't have any direction other than orange markers dividing two narrow lanes. There is no signage to advise which lane is for drive through traffic and which is not. This is a disaster waiting to happen if someone steps outside the building and into entering vehicular traffic. Further, if you have the luxury of time, parking is very limited and next to impossible to access after leaving the drive through window. Second is the Customer Service. It was forgettable. There was nothing said or done that made me feel welcomed. This is a big mistake for any brand entering a new market, especially when that market is already saturated with competitors with a loyal following. With proper training and "enforcement ", this can be remedied. Will it? Third is the food. On my last visit to LA, I left feeling like I'd had an out of body experience, having had the best donut of my life. For this location, nothing was further from the truth. The Glazed Raised was dense, not light. The Devil's Food was dry and presented like no one cared what it looked like, given the finger imprints. At this price point, I can tell you there's one person who does care, me! I certainly hope the experience was merely part of Randy's Donuts short term growing pains. While I doubt they'll move to a more suitable facility, everything else is in their control and can be quickly fixed. I hope they are up to the challenge. read more

Ever since seeing the giant donut in front of Randy's I've been dying to check it out! Plus I love me a delicious donut!! The drive through was closed when I went but no big deal because I need to view the donut selection before choosing and I wanted to check out the inside. Nothing special on the inside except for wallpaper showing the Randy's story. No real ambiance. They had a nice selection of cake and old fashioned, plus eclairs, bear claws, apple fritters and cinnamon rolls. I chose 6 donuts and an iced drip coffee. I was informed the coffee was Randy's own special drip blend. The old fashioned donuts were amazing! I had a lemon, double chocolate and a glazed I was only wishing they had a maple old fashioned. Those are my favorite. Instead I had a maple log filled with cream and it was so sweet but so delicious!! The cake donuts were a little disappointing. They were very eggy tasting and the red velvet donut was the one I could have done without. The special Randy's coffee was ok but not great. Service was fine - no issues. read more

I have wanted to try Randy's donuts for a while now and I was excited to see one opens in Phoenix. I came here last month and it was busy. I was eyeing all of the flavors and it was a tough decision. I love sour cream/old fashioned style donuts the best and they had one that I snagged. I got some others for sharing but that one was for me. Was here on the first Sunday of opening week with mostly good results. Waited about 12 minutes in a short line. All the donuts in the case seem to be available off the racks behind the counter. Listen up! Don't pay ANY attention to the negative reviews...literally they must all be Karen's! These donuts are HANDS DOWN some of the best I've ever had. Each donut had a unique (amazing) texture and the flavor of each was chef's kiss ... the inside was so moist and fluffy/soft while the outside had the perfect crisp/crunch but was somehow still soft...it doesn't make sense, I know...but TRUST! Customer service was 10/10...the guys working behind the counter were engaging, knowledgeable (as a first-timer I had questions) and so super friendly. I am a big fan of the Los Angeles location and was HAPPY when this location opened in Arizona! My disappointment comes from the Arizona location running out of the types of donuts/frittersI that I drive there for. This has happened multiple times to me on weekends between 9 and 10 AM. I have been driving by here on my way to work and decided to finally stop in and get donuts for my husband and I to try. I went through the drive through and it moved quickly. I can't say anything about the ambiance because I didn't go in. I got the old fashion chocolate, the lemon old fashion, the blueberry, the devil's food chocolate and the plain cake with chocolate frosting. OMG! We loved the old fashioned chocolate so much. The lemon one was good, but I personally love chocolate so much, so there you go. We haven't tried all of them because we froze some of them for another time. I'm so excited about these donuts.
