I like seeing the options available and only the drive thru was open so had to order blind but the area can get sketchy at night so definitely understand. When I'm out of town, I tend to eat mostly donuts for breakfast so when I woke up this morning, well, I went and got some donuts to kill time before getting to work. King Donuts AZ wasn't too far from where I was so I went to the drive through to order a glaze crawler, a chocolate shot donut, and a cake donut (definitely one too many donuts here). The donuts were all very solid, while the glaze crawler was definitely the best of the bunch. The crawler was super big, super fluffy, and super glaze......y? You get the idea. It blew me away and left me craving some more. Overall, I had a good experience at King Donuts AZ and wouldn't be mad if this was my local shop. It's very minimalist yet convenient place to pick up donuts. not heavy on ambience in this place though very minimalist. I order a standard half dozen donuts which they sprinkled in some donut holes which a nice little touch. The donuts themselves were light, flaky, and well balanced no overly sweet or overly powering sugar or egg flavor. I would consider this solid four out of five as far as donut shops go in the valley. As a self proclaimed donut connoisseur I rate King's donuts fairly low on the donut scale. The overall taste of the donut dough is weirdly sweet and some of the donuts tasted eggy. There was nothing special that blew me away and even my son didn't want to eat the entire donut!! You know it's not good when a teenager puts it down!! Their logo claims they are the best donuts in AZ. I don't think so. The only reason I give 2 stars is because the apple fritter was pretty good, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Pros: The person manning the drive thru was very friendly. The donuts are delicious, better than any others around. Cons: Double check your orders. I only ordered 6 donuts, 3 different kinds. Only one of the kinds (2 donuts) ordered was correct, but of course I didn't discover that until I got home. Also, I believe it is extremely tacky to ask a for a tip at a drive thru. Tried King Donuts for the first time today and I'm in love! So excited that there is a boba spot this close by, I was hesitant to try because I went to the Sonic which was there previously for years.... I wish I would have tried King Donuts sooner!!! I'll be coming back often now. The honeydew milk smoothie with popping boba was delicious. I can't wait to come back and try different flavors of drinks and boba!!! Yum!!
