Wonder out side ambiance at 2pm on 7th ave, with a quaint gas station turned coffee shop. If you have allergies I suggest being inside, but if you don't, the tree makes for wonderful shade. The shop is clean and fun looking. Reminds me of If the 90's style came and set up shop in the future. Grunge but elegant coffee. I know it sounds wild but they hit an amazing sweet spot, that deserves recognition. I will be back. Thank you for the hospitality. read more

This place has been on my list for a while. Stopped by Thursday morning around 10:30am and there isn't any designated parking, but lots of street parking in the neighborhood. Quite small inside but they seemed to have a nice system. Bonus, they have a drive thru as well! Immediately knew I wanted to get their breakfast bagel sandwich. The nice cashier took my order: breakfast bagel sandwich on a sesame seed bagel with bacon for the protein. Also ordered an iced 16oz cherry and vanilla latte with oat milk. The coffee was made quickly for me and it tasted amazing, great balance of flavors. The breakfast bagel sandwich was absolutely to die for. I'm a bit picky on my bagel sandwiches but this one was nicely condensed, bagel tasted fresh, cheese was melted (my fav), and flavorful bacon and well cooked egg. Some seating outside but not too much. Will definitely be back to try some of their other bagels & items on their menu. Really nice employees as well:) read more

This is a super cute and friendly coffee shop that is another that I slept way too long on. After hearing from multiple people that it was a great place, I finally hit them up on a lovely spring Friday morning for a bagel and coffee on their lovely patio. They have an amazing selection of bagels, and I like that they offer vegan cream cheese as well as regular. (They also have other toppings, like hummus, but I am in the camp that nothing beats cream cheese on a bagel!) I also was happy to see that soy milk is on the menu of non-dairy options, which is my old favorite. I had a delicious cafe au lait with soy and a touch of lavender syrup. It was a decent value for all I got, and everyone was so nice. It gets busy, but that is a testament to how awesome it is. read more

If you are in the mood for a killer breakfast sandwich, this is your spot. The Eva bagel is amazing - with melted cheese and everything bagel seasoning on it. It made the perfect base for my perfect sandwich. The bagel was moist and delicious. I got my sandwich with bacon on it which was perfectly crispy. The place was pretty packed on a Sunday after church but we found a spot right after ordering. You order at the front from a cashier and they seemed busy and said a matcha would take a while, so I didn't get a drink - but I'd like to next time as they have a bunch of fun flavors. Was craving a bagel sandwich and decided to try Copper Star after seeing the reviews and photos. Let me preface this by saying I'm a Jersey girl living in the desert and probably have higher standards for bagels than most. I had the Frankenstein bagel with sausage egg and cheese which was very tasty and I enjoyed the flavors for sure. The texture just wasn't it for me. I found the bagel to be a little small and too dense, resulting in it being a bit flat. There wasn't any height and really no fluffy inside or slight crunch on the outside. The sandwich overall was small for what you pay. However, service was quick and friendly and I loved the indoor/outdoor space with seating. Felt very homey and welcoming. read more

Copper Star is such a treat any time I get to go. They're consistently good. I've tried their bagel sandwiches and their coffee. The last time I visited I got an iced white mocha and a bacon bagel sandwich. The mocha was rich and creamy and perfectly cold. The sandwich was still warm when I got home and tasted super fresh. They also have great dog treats that my puppy loves. The drive thru can get a little backed up but it's all part of the experience lol. read more

I've been going to copper star for 10 years! It was close by to my apartment and I recently moved to an apartment in the same neighborhood as copper star! Now, I can walk there. It's an absolute gem in the neighborhood. All the employees are super kind and wonderful and they give my sweet little Jackson the biggest treat. Trendy spot to get coffee in the Melrose area. They have a good variety of drink types and syrups, and it is nice to sit there on a weekend morning. The service has always been friendly! For me, this is better as a sit down coffee inside than trying to go through the drive through, which has always taken longer than expected from the time I order to the time I received my drink. Parking is limited. They have bagels too. I haven't tried, but others have said good things. read more

We stopped at Copper Star Coffee one morning in PHX after reading some stellar reviews--it looked like a cool spot for a cup of coffee and a bagel sandwich. The location is a true neighborhood gem: a renovated old gas station with a retro drive-thru under a carport, which definitely adds character. However, our experience didn't quite live up to the hype. Upon entry, the baristas didn't seem too friendly or thrilled to be there. As far as the vibe, don't get me wrong, I love a bit of Kendrick but blasting the explicit version of Kendrick Lamar at 8:30 AM, with kiddos around, and the neighborhood crew just didn't seem to like the baristas could read the room. Moving on to the food and drinks, I ordered a café au lait and my husband went for a cappuccino--both were just so-so. As avid coffee drinkers their version lacked any real spark. We also tried the bacon egg sandwich and a blueberry bagel. While it appears they make the bagels from scratch, as an avid bagel fan, I was left underwhelmed. So far, these are my favorite bagels in the Valley (yes, I like them better than Bagelfeld's). I come here regularly and appreciate their consistency. They have a friendly staff that provides great service, and it's a welcoming and diverse environment, which reminds me of my old neighborhood in South Minneapolis The tropical smoothie is great as well! I like that it's thick and not runny or watery like a lot of other smoothies. My one critique is, the salt bagels could have more salt on them, as sometimes there's only a few granules of salt. The ones I've pictured contain the salt level I prefer. This place is definitely in my Top 5 faves in Phoenix! read more

I love this place for the quality coffee and customer service. It's always top notch. I believe it's the best coffee in the valley. Fight me on it. However I'm giving this a three star because the last dozen times I've been in, the place keeps getting dirtier and dirtier. Clean it up Copper Star. Thick layers of dust and grease on furniture and walls. The outside could use a good power wash too. The bathroom was cleaner than the dining area. I've lived in PHX for almost 5 years and for some reason I had never been here. My husband recommended we try it as I was craving a bagel and he loves the coffee here. I got the Bodega Bagel which comes with bacon, cream cheese and tomato. I got the cheddar jalapeño and felt like I couldn't taste any jalapeño. The bagel itself wasn't good either in terms of texture. I got the aztec cocoa to drink and it was okay. I think if you come purely for the coffee it's a good spot according to my husband but for me it wasn't particularly great in terms of the bagel. I do love how diverse the costumers are and love to support local business that are inclusive. read more

The bagels are made in house and we loved them. So many options and reasonably priced. Coffee was also good. Not tons of indoor seating but they have a big drive thru and outdoor seating, too. Update On This Business The reason I gave them 2 Stars is the fact a 5'2"-5'4" brown haired college girl cashier gave my 2 almond cookies to a complete stranger tall guy who is not a customer who did not buy anything and walked away with the cookie. Another incident was when people who work there don't call out people's name or tell the customer it's not their drink and others just grab other people's drink and they do it on purpose. So the lesson here is to watch the people who just grab other people's items and walk away. read more

What led me to this fine coffee shop was the huge Pride flag hanging outside. As a proud ally to the LGBTQIA+ community, I loved this! So many drink, food, and goodies available. How have I not already left a review? Copper Star is such a quirky place. I've only ever done drive-thru, but it's an old gas station and just has this vibe about it. There isn't a drive-up window. It's more like a drive-thru with car hops, though not on skates. They come to your car window to take your order as you wait in line and slowly make your way around the building. It's unique, but seems to work. Service is always friendly. They have a gluten-free options daily, which change, but work out great for me when we have a work event and I need some gluten-free options. Their bagel sandwiches are delicious, but one day I need to just try a regular bagel and cream cheese to get the full bagel experience. They have some great flavor options - rosemary! There was one blip last time I was there. They apparently lost my order. But as soon as they discovered it, they apologized and made my sandwich as quickly as possible and credited my card so it was free. That shows they care about their customers. And I love their beverages. I'm not a coffee drinker, but they have blended/frozen coffee options which are my favorite. If you're in the Melrose District, check them out! And even if you're not, it could be worth the drive. I go out of my way between home and work when the urge strikes. read more

Love this spot and their house-made bagels. The espresso is really delicious too. Try the pesto cream cheese on a frankenstein bagel and the iced cubano! They have a drive thru so you don't even have to get out of your car if you don't want to :) The staff are always really nice, but be prepared to wait 10 mins or so for your order when it's busy. This is definitely not the place to come if you're in a rush. I knocked off a star because there is some inconsistency with the cream cheese - sometimes it's perfect but sometimes there is barely any so it eats really dry. read more

I tried an ice Cubano and oh man was it delicious!! My first time trying a Cubano coffee. Smooth with some sweetness. We also got bagels. The Frankenstein (jalapeno cheese everything) bagel with pesto cream cheese and tomato. It was so flavorful! The pesto was not overpowering which was nice. Staff is friendly and helpful.
