They were also able to squeeze us into their busy schedule so we could get AC before the heat wave! During installation, they ran into several challenges with placement of the new unit and some wiring that needed more attention. They worked through and around them to make everything work out in the end. I really appreciate their flexibility and expertise to navigate all the roadblocks without changing the scope of work. TIP: Measure the space where the unit is going to be placed and make sure the new unit will fit OR that you discuss this before the project starts.

He said the problem was the starter and said he could fix it for $460. While he was fixing it, I looked up the price of the part. It was $25. He was here for only 15 minutes. After the repairs, I asked him how much of the $460 was for parts and how much was for labor. He said about 50% for each. I then let him know that I found the part for $25. He responded that he doesn't buy the parts himself. So I paid $25 for parts and $435 for 15 minutes of work. Yes, I wish I had gone with another company.

The quoted price for a two-head unit with external pump was in line or lower than the competing bids, backed by an extended multi-year warranty as Mitsubishi Diamond Certified installers. Heat pumps installed alongside existing central air is not an uncommon request, but we had a great conversation with Brook on how we might update to a more modern system in the future, given our original(!) furnace's age. Side questions for him aside, we had a thoughtfully sized system outlined and quoted within a day, and scheduled within two weeks. Our experience with the installation was similarly great, with the team arriving promptly as scheduled and taking the care to put on shoe coverings moving through the house. Everyone was polite and efficient, bringing the plan to life and bringing us in early when there were onsite decisions to be made in our unique spaces. When an issue arose on the cooling not blowing as cold as we had expected, they were quick to assist with troubleshooting, and had it fully remediating within the week. Permits are still pending due to the Oakland backlog, but their lead electrician will also be onsite during the inspection process so I have no worries there. While our immediate need during the heat wave this Spring was cooling our living spaces, I have full confidence that whenever we go to multizone heating and cooling, Spot Free will be our go-to experts!

I received 3 quotes for our HVAC work:…read more- Spot Free: $21K - Vendor we used: $23K - Another vendor who we used before and were happy with but increased their pricing recently: $32K We decided not to go with Spot Free for 2 reasons. First, the heat pump brand was changed in the quote to one that we did not want (Carrier). We were replacing it due to leakage of carbon monoxide. This is obviously a safety concern for us, but also a peace of mind issue. We had discussed using Carrier at the site visit, but I was adamant to avoid it. Second, Brook mentioned that there was a manufacturer's recall on our existing 1-year old Mitsubishi heat pump (we have 2 zones with 2 separate units) and that we should pay him out of pocket to fix it. I was confused, because we received no information regarding a recall and typical costs associated with a recall are not paid by the customer. Furthermore, we hadn't experienced any issues and we're still within the warranty period from the manufacturer and installer. Brook said he had been processing a lot of recalls on units he installed and Mitsubishi was slow to send parts so it's easier to pay him directly for the repair. I contacted the original installer, who we had a very positive experience with initially, and they said there was no recall. I also looked online and couldn't find any information regarding a recall.

Because of PG&E power outages, he explained that both my furnace and A/C unit does not have a surge protector incase PG&E turned off the power and then turned it back on. To avoid any problems, he recommended that I have surge protectors be installed. The price for the surge protectors was pretty reasonable. Because I was had the Gold member for the yearly maintenance program, I was given a 10% discount for the surge protectors. I highly recommend anyone who needs furnace or A/C services or replacement to contact AIS Heating & Air for consultation.

They scanned my 2010 Prius car at no charge and identified the issues. There would only be a fee if further diagnosis or repairs were needed. The initial scan was very helpful and allowed me to contact the battery company for my Prius battery pack, which is still under warranty. AutoTech is a great place to get an estimate, and Lauren is very responsive. I had a very positive experience and would definitely recommend this shop as an alternative to dealership service.

He cleaned the external dryer vent, the inner dryer filter slot, and the entire vent system from the inside out. They initially "fixed" one of the obvious leaks last week, but this week there were still leaks and so I had them come back out to fix they NON FIX and they claimed I needed to re-pipe all my piping from my house to the main at the street... to the tune of $14K!!! I said I didn't even use that irrigation system anymore and could we just cap it off or bypass it, but they told me they'd have to rip up my whole yard because they didn't know exactly where the leak was...but doing the re-piping would solve the leaking 100%. Otherwise I may continue to have leaks in the future and to me that sounded ridiculous (the $14K)! So I wanted to get additional bids to make sure I wasn't getting ripped off, and I'm so glad I did!! I called United Plumbing and they sent someone out to my house within 2 hours!!! And Alex Bor (one of their supervisors) QUICKLY solved the problem in LESS THAN 10 minutes just by walking around the perimeter of my house and finding the irrigation shut off valve!!! And it cost me nothing as he said it was all part of the "free estimate" to trouble shoot the issue by going around the house before pricing out the fix. Since we don't even use that irrigation system anymore, it was a no brainer to just turn off the valve and be DONE!!! No more wasted water!! Thank you so much Alex for really SOLVING the problem vs. charging us $14K!! You rock. If we have any future plumbing issues, United will be the first one we call next time!

What I appreciated most was that he didn't just start replacing parts. He thoroughly diagnosed the system, explained what he was testing, and walked me through the results. He showed me that the capacitor was testing low, the contactor was worn and pitted, and even performed a megger test on the compressor to verify it was still healthy. After the repairs, he confirmed everything was working properly by showing me the compressor amperage had dropped back to normal and that the system had an 18-degree temperature split. Keon was patient with all of my questions and never made me feel rushed. He explained the pros and cons of the recommended repairs, including the hard-start kit, so I could make an informed decision instead of feeling pressured. I really appreciated his transparency and professionalism. By the time he was done, our AC was cooling properly again, and he even worked with us on the final price. He showed up on time and found the problem right away and within a short time he had my HVAC unit back to normal operation. Oleg had a very friendly and honest approach, I am very happy with his service and attitude I also mentioned I would call him in the future for another project I had on the back burner.

Of the four quotes we recieved, Tyndall HVAC was the only one who did not try to up-sale us. The other companies gave us outrageous quotes (lowest one was $21k) that included work that we didn't need. Peter listened carefully, and without judgement to our predicament. Then offered us exactly what we needed, with three different options, and explained the difference between each. Turns out all we needed was the heat pump, and Tyndall was able to utilize our existing ducting, which was only a year old. The unit we decided on was the option with an incredible warranty that is also transferable. You know? Like how companies used to all be here?? American pride. Thank you Tyndall HVAC, for your values and professionalism, at a time in our country that unfortunately seems to be lacking this moral aptitude.

He identified the issues that needed to be brought up to code and improved the water heater installation and ventilaton, and so I trust the quality of his work as well. His quality of work and his attentiveness lives up to his businesses name. He also explained his reccomendation of water heater brands and the relative quality between an american made Bradford White water heater vs the other brands sold at Home Depot and Lowes. He wasn't the cheapest option available to us, but he stands behind the work he does, so that is worth something to me.
