I needed to get my HVAC system replaced for my house, so I sent out a couple of requests via Yelp for quotes from highly rated service providers in the surrounding area. Paul, the owner from MechPros HVAC came over the weekend to do the assessment and consultation. It was very helpful be able to do it over the weekend so I didn't have to take time off from work. He was on time, communicated well, and very thorough. Among the half a dozen vendors I contacted, he was among the few that truly listened to my input instead of trying to upsell or push options I wasn't interested in. After comparing all the quotes, MechPros' quote was very competitive. I decided to go with them and scheduled the job which was able to start quickly in about a week after signing the contract. On the scheduled day, Will and Kieran, the two installation crew members, arrived right on time. They were courteous, personable, and professional, and did a good job. They kept the job site clean and neat with drop clothes with minimum disruption. After two days of work, the installation was done. They cleaned up nicely, took away all the disposable materials, and restored everything back to where things were. The installation job was done very neatly in the attic and backyard. I can tell they are proud of their work too. The new system is much better than the system it replaced. After the system started up, I noticed some issues. Paul was very responsive and sent a technician immediately to check it out. After a repair that wasn't successful, he personally came out and concluded that the issue was related to the equipment. Paul took responsibility and ownership of addressing the equipment problem under warranty with the manufacturer. He sped up the resolution by fronting the cost of providing replacement components and dealing with the warranty replacement parts separately to reduce the system down time. I appreciate MechPros HVAC and Paul for taking ownership and having customer service as a top priority. After the problem was resolved, MechPros also helped coordinate the city inspection to secure the final permit approval. Wow. What a terrific experience. Our heating wasn't working (all fan and no heat) so we called MechPros. Even though they were very busy this week they were able to squeeze me in. Paul came out and tracked down the rather obscure problem (caused innocently enough by another HVAC company who came out earlier in the year to repair the air conditioning). Very small, non-union outfit. They have two installers. One of them knows what he's doing and the other one is pretty green and careless. In theory, you'd have a 50% chance of a good install. Unfortunately, the guy that knows what he's doing lays out the careless guy, then careless guy installs. You get what you pay for. I had them run the linesets and charge a 4-zone mini split. Paul's (the PM) price was lower than a couple of other guys that came out to look. I assume that Careless guy had a quota of finishing the install in a day. As darkness approached, instead of wrapping up, he got in a hurry and thought that finished dogsh#t would pass. It looked a lot better after he had to come back and redo his work. Only problem is that he crossed the wires to two zones. Long story short: I paid MechAms for an install that has yet to be completed. I've reached out to Paul numerous times to come fix the installation. But, with only two installers, he says he doesn't know when they can come out. Our HVAC and water heater were both more than 20 years old, and the air conditioning in particular had never worked upstairs in the bedrooms and office. My husband and I put in ceiling fans, which helped, but on the 100+ degree days, it was truly sweltering -- and we work from home, so we're home allllll day. We'd had a few HVAC folks out since we bought the house in 2016, but they didn't have much to recommend beyond installing a second unit on our upstairs deck. We decided to be proactive and replace the system with a more powerful and efficient unit, and leaned on the recommendation of a good friend who had used MechPros and was very happy. We took in a couple of quotes, but felt MechPros had the most to offer for the money and went with them. We needed to do abatement first (we have a 1970s house with asbestos), and then Ross, our installer, took over. Ross was both meticulous and thorough in his work, and while it's still early, we can't believe the difference we're seeing even so far. It seems some of our ducts weren't properly attached, and during the test of the system, actual AIR CAME OUT OF OUR UPSTAIRS VENTS! What a revelation. We haven't needed the AC yet -- we really don't turn it on very much and our installation was this past week -- but we can already see that we'll have fewer fitful sleeps this summer. Five stars! ADVICE - KEEP LOOKING! My grandson hired MechPro to install an electric heat pump since the state of CA was offering a 50% rebate. MechPro informed him that he had to sign up & get approval before the system was installed and then the state would do an inspection afterwards. He followed their instructions and arranged for the inspection after installation. When the state came out, the inspector informed him he was to have had the old gas system inspected BEFORE installation. My grandson informed him of what he had been told by MechPro. The inspector said he would check with his supervisor and get back to MechPro. After receiving no follow-up for a few weeks he emailed the state inspection department attempting to get an update and was informed he needed to contact MechPro - which we did. MechPro's response was basically that they had "washed their hands of this and he needed to call the state". I informed "Chad" what the email had said and received not only a nasty attitude but absolutely NO HELP also! Again, I was told it was not MechPro's responsibility and they were through with it. I believe this definitely is their responsibility since they initially provided the instructions as well as the fact that the state is referring my grandson back to them as well. This lack of customer service may cost my grandson $7,000 (50% of the system based on the state's rebate offer). I have sent a message to MechPro telling them their customer service needs definite improvement - first based on the attitude I have received from "Chad" and second, texting to receive an update/information gets you AI who tells you "I will check with my team and update you as soon as I can". At one point, I texted daily for 7+ days and still no one got back to me until I told AI "it would be nice if someone would call". This time I sent a message via the company's website and again no call back! So, again, KEEP LOOKING FOR COMPANIES! I would definitely pass this one over and move on to another! read more

MechPros has been servicing our mini split system for a few years and when it came time for a replacement, they were the first people we called. They just finished installation yesterday of three Mitsubishi mini-split heads -- and it could not have gone more smoothly. The technicians were very skilled in the replacement of these particular units and were even able to use the existing infrastructure. Paul and his team were amazing to work with from start to finish. Our older a/c unit went out one day sort of out of nowhere. My husband did a little diagnosing and rather than have Paul come straight out, we asked to have a phone call with him just so he wouldn't waste his time driving here if we just needed to order something first. We did need a new unit, but we didn't want to replace the entire unit. Paul was great to discuss our options and then spent time to call several places to try to obtain a unit that would work with what we had. Hottest days of the week and the AC decided it didn't want work! My expectations to get it checked out and repaired with in a few days at the most were not that high. Found MechPros on FB and Yelp and people raved about them. I can absolutely see why! MechPros called me 30 minutes prior to my appointment and even accommodated my husband's work schedule. MechPros found a literal bug in our system and pulled it out. I am a huge fan of the MechPros team. When we began looking for quotes from installers, the owner (Paul) was the most interested in solving our specific heating/cooling problems (as opposed to just pushing product on us) than any other vendor. Their service was incredible, and every team member that worked on our project was helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. After the original install - unfortunately - our Trane thermostat died on us (only 2 months after the initial install), and this was during a rough heat wave.
