We've been here a few times. This location is tucked in the corner of a Publix strip center. It doesn't get too busy, so it often looks like it is closed, but it's not. I like that is open after other options are closed, so we can grab late dinner between 9-10 on a weeknight after sport activities. The idea of make your own pizza ala Chipotle is a good concept. However, it always takes them longer than it should. They press the dough, stretch it onto the pan, use a spiked roller on the dough and then proceed to toppings. Workers seem stressed even when there are only a few items in progress. I find the pizza and topping flavor to be below average. Last night, I pulled off a bite of the ground beef, because I was hungry on the way home with my to-go pizza. It wasn't very good. However, the regular cheese pizzas are decent. Last night, we ordered the new Cinnaslice dessert pie, which has cinnamon and cream. I thought this was a miss. It didn't look great, it was hard to bite or cut and the flavor just wasn't quite right. Because the crust is wood fired and crispy, you don't have any flakiness or softness of a cinnamon bun. I LOVE Mod pizza! They have fantastic curbside service and I never have to go inside! I can't eat dairy and I LOVE that they have non-dairy cheese so I can enjoy my pizza and not have an upset stomach! I always think of pizza as an eat at home thing, so I don't want to go inside. I love that they have an awesome mobile app you can get points and get free items. It is super easy to use and you can either pick up, delivery or my personal favorite curbside! I put my order in on the app, pull in on the side of the building where they have outdoor seating. They have 2 curbside parking places and you just pull up and call the number and tell them you're here for curbside, your name and what spot you are in. They come out very fast. They will sometimes give an attitude on the phone but usually they're really nice! I got a dairy free pizza with mushroom, olives and sausage. read more

The pizza is ok and we'll try dining in again, but I'm worried about ordering online from this Mod Pizza again. Twice in a row they charged me for 11-inch pizzas and delivered minis instead. Once was an 11-inch veggie (and we received a mini) and once was an 11-inch maddy (and again we received a mini). I didn't complain the first time and just wrote it off as a loss. The second time, I let them know about the mistake. Looks like they'll send me the correct order, hopefully... but it's just not worth the time it takes to call them and attempt to correct the mistake. About 10 minutes later, a manager called me and said it was a problem with their printer which they've corrected. I appreciate that they're trying to correct the problem. I appreciate they re-made my order. Waiting for the correct order to arrive. Good job by the manager to look into the problem (turned out to be a printing issue) and correct it. I'll try ordering online again and hope next time will be seamless. read more

An interesting fast food- custom order pizza shop, MOD mirrors the subway/ qdoba model using a watch me make it to your specification format. Each pizza is a personal pizza size. MOD gets having many pizza options right, offering a traditional, gluten free and cauliflower crust as well as a decent range of pizza toppings, including fresh basil, multiple cheeses and sauces. Overall quality was fine. Where I think the experience at MOD goes sideways is with the service which results in not so great food. This was my first dining experience here, and I can tell you the staff were unhelpful and frankly a bit unfriendly, making me feel like I was a burden for them simply by coming in. They did not help me understand ordering options: like how many toppings, or how much I can get. Staff were focused on getting me through my order as quickly as possible and with as little engagement as possible. So, what I ended up with was a minimally dressed pizza. This, at a price that would have afforded me a lot more and better pizza somewhere else. The personal sized pizza was about $15 each, (specialty crusts are an up charge) so we spent ~$30 on two pies without any drinks. Ambiance was okay. Some high top tables and regular fast food style tables. Decent outdoor seating. Drinks are self service. While the food was okay, the overall MOD experience was not good and the value was not there. read more

There's nothing better than creating your own pizza masterpiece!!! From sauce to fresh toppings...even how you want it cooked!!! My go to always starts with spicy marinara and grilled chicken - after that, it's whatever I feel next! This time it was bacon, onions, artichoke, mushrooms, jalapeño with dollops of marinara, hot honey drizzle and ranch dressing on the side....so freaking GOOD!!! Maybe I spoke to soon and maybe Richmond area is doomed and we will never have a good MOD location. I asked for a dairy free pizza because of a dairy allergy. They normally use a sauce kept separate from the line because of possible cross condemnation but the person working decided to use what was in the line. When I asked about it and I also mention that they normally use a separate sauce from the line, this person tells me there's no dairy in the sauce. I looked over and I can see cheese floating in the sauce. I don't like to waste food, and I'm finding out that my daughter can handle small amount of dairy especially if its been cooked, so I took the pizza. When I talked to a different employee and asked to speak to the manager, I found out the manager was not available and the next person in charge was the shift lead. Come to find out the shift lead was the person that put my pizza together! If someone like that was put into a leadership role and does not uphold standards, then MOD is doomed. read more

I just got a MOD Fresh entree' sized, "build your own" salad...to go. This salad was, hands down the best salad I've had from anywhere in a very long while. For starters...it was huge! It was very appealing to the eye and most importantly, it was delicious and as fresh as it would have been had I picked the vegetables out of my own garden and made it myself. I seriously could have eaten the entire thing in the dark and not worried about biting into wilted, gross lettuce or overly ripe...anything. They made this salad for me as if they were making it for themselves and that's 100% how it should be. I was really pleased and impressed with the food and the service. read more

What's there not to like about this place? It's a medium-sized pizza with all of the delicious, plethora of toppings you want. Oh, and all for less than $8! I know the thin crust may not be everyone's thing, but they also offer a variety of free dipping sauces to enjoy with it. If I have to find fault with MOD, I would say that it's addicting. Tried MOD during their soft opening and it was amazing! I'm so glad to have this in my neighborhood (which the whole Nuckols corridor definitely was lacking modern food and shops). The staff were all impressive, like they had been working here for years. So, kudos to the management and training team for rocking efficiency and service. A nice gentlemen greeted us at the door welcoming us (didn't catch his name, but great job), and then we were greeted by the memorable LaPorsha right before getting to the ordering station. She was so excited to be at this place working, I was like dang maybe I should apply LOL. But no really, she was welcoming and encouraged us to try everything-all the toppings we could think of. She recommended trying corn on our pizzas, and while this build-your-own concept isn't new by any means, I can truly say taking her recommendation to try corn on my pizza was a first. The corn added a sweetness to the pizza, which was a nice yet unusual touch. Great recommendation, girl! Also ordered some cheese bread and cinnamon bread, and both did not disappoint. Before we were even finished paying, our names were being called that our orders were ready. Again, this was a soft opening, so kudos for rocking that line of customers while having accurate orders with zero flaws. They have some hand crafted drinks in addition to a soda machine. My favorite part of the experience was the vibe. It was like we were in a bright well-lit club eating pizza haha. The music was jumping, the artwork on the walls was nice, and best of all the pizza was delish! The concept is like Blazes pizza but a little different, very bright and bubbly. The one big difference between the two I will say is that my pizza came up by time I got to the register to pay. Quick service pizza goes against everything that I stand for as a Brooklyn native. However, I can't ignore the trending tide that wants to be creative, healthy and get in and out fast. So to those ends, MOD Pizza serves its purpose. The store itself is clean and the staff is friendly as any you'll encounter. If I had to compare this franchise to Pie Five or the LeBron James money-infused Blaze Pizza, I would say that this is probably the best of the three for a few reasons. First, the price is reasonable (about 8 bucks) for a pie that you can put anything, and I mean ANYTHING they have available as a topping. The proteins are fresh and the veggies and such look great (I'm a big fan of the roasted garlic). They also have different drizzles you can finish your pizza with, among the best is a hot honey (not a honey-flavored sauce, mind you, I'm talking about REAL honey that starts sweet and ends with a nice kick, not blazing, but noticeable). The pizzas are a good size for the price, and if you play your cards right, you have lunch for the next day (not hard to do with the bevy of toppings they have). And you can start with a suggested pizza type, but quickly add what you want, take off what you don't want, all without that annoying upcharge. I mean the meals tax is shocking enough, who wants to be surprised by adding two dollars for that extra piece of sausage you wanted? MOD doesn't do that thankfully. My star removal stems from the allergy thing, too many sauces close to too many dairy cheeses, some things visibly landing in other containers (they need covers for the cheese/sauces or move them away from each other to lower the cross contamination dilemma) and the staff needed to be reminded to change their gloves if they had just handled a pizza that needed dairy cheese. A little more training is needed to make this seamless and safer for those suffering from allergy issues. The same problem plagued Blaze (it was worse there), and I will say Pie Five handles allergies the best of the three. Please be sure your server is alerted, and if you have any concerns, speak to a manager. So if you're looking for authentic NY style pizza, this isn't it, but for a fun, clean experience that's good for all family members, MOD makes the grade. Just make sure you keep that hot honey on the topping list! read more

Well, I can say I gave it a try. I'll start with the positives - the interior of the restaurant is very clean and well decorated. It looks like a fun atmosphere. The staff at the counter was very helpful. They seem to have a lot of options for pizza so you don't have to make up your own combinations. The service was quick. Now the not so positives - I wasn't a big fan of the actual pizza. It was very very salty. I ordered the Dillon James for myself and the Mad Dog for my boyfriend. I also added the garlic strips. While it looked pretty good, the taste just wasn't there. We were both pretty underwhelmed. I really wanted to like this place but it just didn't do it for me. read more

I love the food here! Today was the 1st time my encounter with an employee was less than friendly. Employee Ethan seemed to have an issue and was not happy to see any of the customers who entered. ATTITUDE ventral, no smile, not friendly not engaging. However, a new guy Nellie I think was his his name he was super sweet, friendly and although new at job he was super nice! Nice clean new pizza place. Had a custom veggie pizza and it looked great but i could barely eat it. The saltiness /sodium level was extreme. The crust and sauce was way over salted. Good staff friendly ! I'd say Blaze is much better more choices and better crust and way less salty. I had been wanting to do a taste test comparison between Blaze and Mod - Blaze wins overall on taste and topping choices. Sorry Mod I wanted to love you but the low grade saltiness taste of it ruined my experience. The when I looked on their web page for full ingredient listing lots of items have canola oil and sugar in them. I could Taste the items didn't work for me. I'm giving it 3 stars because the pizza was good & the staff was as friendly as they could be with the overload of online orders & the long line of people waiting to order. We got here at 7 & are just now sitting down with our drinks (it's 7:27)..... still waiting on the pizza though. I don't blame the staff who are working though, it's clearly poor scheduling &/or management. When I got here there were 4 people on. One pressing the dough, two making the pizzas, one cooking the pizzas. They were doing more online orders than actual in person customers. I saw at least 6 customers in line just walk out & 3 people waiting on their online orders leave without their pizzas. A tip of advice to management: until you get the scheduling down, hold off on the online orders during peak hours.... you lost more customers than you gained not to mention you had some VERY unhappy customers-- online & in store. read more

This place is amazing. I first tried it in Seattle last summer, and it was almost ironic to me that as soon as I returned home, I got wind they were opening one up so close to my parents' house. This is one of those customizable personal pizza places, where you can select your toppings and they cook your pizza in a brick oven in front of you at the end. You can get a pizza for about $8 and some change, and they have drink/smoothie/side options. I have been here a couple of times now. My personal favorite is one of their already listed creations, Dillon James, which is basically a margherita pizza, and I always add spinach and jalapeños to mine. They have a great toppings selection including different meats, cheeses, and veggies and also have a few options for sauces on top of your pizza once it is cooked. I had the opportunity last night to try out MOD Pizza for their soft grand opening. I have recently been on a pizza kick in the addition to mod in my neighborhood was right up my alley. The staff were very friendly even walking up to the building greeting us before we got in. They had a designated person explaining the concept and how you can either get one of their signature pizzas or build your own the staff just seemed pretty well-trained even though it was only there 2nd day with customers in the store. The line moves very quickly and efficiently. One of the biggest surprises for me was the speed of the pizza getting done. Before we even paid the pizzas were up in ready for pickup! This is a drastic change for me giving that normally brick oven pizza places sometimes can take a while depending on how many people are in the restaurant for your pizza to get done. The pizza was very good all of the toppings were fresh and the dodo has a good taste to it. I also had a order of their cinnamon sticks which are very good and are not overly cinnamony (if that's a word lol) but still have very good taste. If you are in the Wyndham area at all I highly recommend you check out my pizza I'm sure you will fall in love with it.! read more

The staff is very friendly and the restaurant is very clean. It's great that they serve beer but the pizza isn't very good. It was salty and just not really worth the price. I ordered three different mini pizzas so I can't even say perhaps it was my choice of toppings. You would be better off getting a microwaveable pizza from the frozen section of Publix if you were in a hurry and didn't want to order from Pizza Hut or Belmont. read more
