I don't particularly like going to fast food restaurants, and try to avoid them in general. But you know...desperate times require desperate measures. I've been to this location a few times, and never really had much of a stellar experience historically. Like most people (I imagine), I've given up on the days of politeness through the drive through. Instead, one usually drives up to place their order at the speaker and someone simply utters "Hello" (long pause), or "Go ahead." The days of "Welcome to ****, may I take your order?" (in an enthusiastic voice) seems to have gone the way of the dinosaurs. However, I almost choked when I drove up at McDonald's and the person taking my order on this occasion was actually polite, offered me to try an apple pie (I declined), and totaled my order. I was asked (politely) to drive to the next window. I was greeted by a lady who made small conversation as she processed my card. She even thanked me for my order, and motioned me to the next window. There, I was soon handed my drink and food. Again, I was genuinely thanked for my patronage and asked to come back. Man...I can't remember an engagement like that in...forever. Of course, the meal was what it was. I mean, it's McDonald's. Kind of hard to mess that up. I wasn't expecting to be wowed, but for some reason, it tasted a bit better than I remembered. On January 2nd, I visited the McDonald's at 11311 Nuckols Rd, Glen Allen, VA 23059 at 11:31 am. I ordered a Double Quarter-Pounder with cheese (my favorite), and my girlfriend ordered the two cheeseburger meal. When we received our orders, I was three bites into my Double Quarter-Pounder before I commented that something tasted off (I do have a condition regarding my taste buds). I offered my girlfriend a bite, she tasted it, spit it out, and said "Don't eat that, that's gone bad" I took the burger back to the counter and quietly showed the cashier. The cashier commented: "I'm not gonna lie to you, that doesn't look right..." Akameen Daughtridge came out from behind the counter, lifted the bun, and said: 'this looks fine to me, I'll make you a new one'. I explained to Akameen that he had sold me bad meat, and I no longer had an appetite for McDonald's. I requested a refund. Akameen Daughtridge explained to me that he 'cannot do that', and that he is 'sorry you feel that way'. The burger Akameen Daughtridge served me was without a doubt rotten, and despite his employees admittance of such -- he refused my refund, and brought my health into jeopardy. He also commented 'the meat is not pink, so I'm afraid you're mistaken'. I explained to Akameen Daughtridge that I was highly offended by his reaction, and he explained that he 'cannot do anything about that'. In all of my years of working customer service (or in eating at McDonald's), I have never seen someone be treated so rudely - - especially while a customer's health was in question. It is needless to say that not only did I get sick 10 hours later, so did my girlfriend. It is my belief that this location knowingly sells bad meat, and that the employee even admitted as such to me, in an attempt to warn me. Thank you, employee! Ok... I have few issues to discuss. 1) what is the point of placing a mobile order? Is it supposed to be faster and more efficient? If so, why do I get parked every single time I do it and have to wait 5-10 mins for my food? 2) EVERY SINGLE TIME I'm missing something from my order. So it's beyond frustrating to get home and find missing food (which means 1 or more children are going to be very upset with me) or no sauce! Also why is it your not allowed to get S&S sauce unless you order nuggets? Some of us like it with our fries (just saying). Right after they reopened from the renovation everything was on point for about a week. The normal staff I didn't see much of and it appeared corporate people were there and everything ran so smoothly and they were so polite. What happened after that? The order was completed wrong. This is the 3rd time in 2 days the order was wrong. I have food allergies I ask for no ketchup and no salt. I got both on this trip. Words of advice from someone that lives in the area and is a frequent mcdonalds customer: Avoid this location if at all possible and go to the Short Pump location by the Target! The fries are hard almost always. The manager Solomon who is there 99% of the time is like the sauce nazi. The location messes up your order 90% of the time. The Burgers are hastily assembled and smashed. They short you on every little thing including my shakes, sundaes, and smoothies that are almost always filled well below the rim of the cup. If you need sauce be prepared to get 1 per 6 or 7 nuggets. If u ask for even 1 more you will get disrespected by the manager and rudely told you dont get anymore and its .50 extra. I got a large order of chicken nuggets and fries. They didnt give me the fries or the right sauce for the nuggets so i had to go back through the drive through. The manager was so rude and approached the window with his usual brunt and harsh attitude even though they made the mistakes. He told me i only get 5 sauces for a 40 pc nuggets and fries order that cost me over $20 and i have to pay extra for more even though i just wanted 2 more. Im sorry i like honey mustard and so do my kids with our fries! Instead of ketchup we r supposed to get with fries we want honey mustard! He raises his voice and yells at me and i have seen him speaking and acting like this with other customers as well so i honestly dont know how he is still there. Another visit They handed me the incorrect order (which has happened almost everytime we went here) which i discovered after touching the contents and He came again to the window with no apology told me with his usual attitude to give him the food back and then argued about the sauces and how many i get! I was given 4 and he refused to give me 2 more and says i have to pay for more even though i got 4 chicken nugget happy meals and 2 combos paying over $20 once again in food! He takes the food back so you know hes still giving it to the customer in the car behind us! Since he is so stingy with the sauces and everything else i have no doubt he gave that customer the food we touched. I would be absolutely furious if i got a bag of food that someone else rifled through and returned! especially with covid! He takes everything back that he incorrectly hands you so he can reuse it. How are there not procedures against this especially during covid! The sauce the food the bags. He is so stingy and mean and disrespectful and doesn't care at all about sanitation procedures or apologizing when hes messed up an order. Please reprimand this manager asap!!!!! When I moved to the area two years ago, I was very impressed with this McDonald's because it was clean and the people were friendly. My last three or four visits have been very disappointing. Each time, I went in to find no cashier available, and many people standing around the counter waiting for food or waiting to place orders. (Sometimes people have questions or don't want to order at kiosks.) I have also consistently heard the workers become rude and impatient with customers when the workers get the orders wrong and customers ask the workers to correct the orders. Yesterday, I stood behind three other people at the counter for ten minutes with no cashier in sight. Eight customers were waiting for food and the workers kept bringing out incorrect orders. It was pretty chaotic and I worried I wouldn't get anything if I ordered it, so I left. I go to Westpark now; that McDonald's is much more friendly and efficient. read more
