I really like the concept of a custom built pizza place, and MOD pizza definitely does a very good job in the variety of veggies/cheese/sauces/meats that they offer, all for an affordable price of about $8 for a 11" pizza. You seriously can't go wrong when the place lets you pretty much customize your own meal. And if you didn't like your meal, you really have only yourself to blame. I also appreciate that there's no limit on the number of toppings and the toppings are all very fresh. On top of that, you can add as many meats as you want at no additional charge! That's quite a rarity for pizza places in my humble opinion. I got the MOD pizza salad, which is basically a salad (you get to choose what you want in the salad, unlimited) topped over a fresh baked asiago pizza. They let me change the asiago to mozarella, and the combination turned out really well! The pizza salad is pricier compared to just getting a pizza or a salad (about $10 versus $8), but I really liked that my "pizza" was full of fresh veggies of my own choosing. I think from now on I will be tossing a salad at home, and topping it over some fresh baked cheese pizza as well. Yum! My husband built his own 11" pizza and that was delicious too. They also serve beer and dessert shakes, but we were too full for anything else. Service is prompt, although I do agree with other yelpers that it was very difficult to hear them call your name when your order is ready. It might be easier to use a number system (think DMV) as I was starting to feel bad for the worker yelling out names in this already noisy atmosphere. The only reason this place only gets a 4/5 star is because I was thirsty for hours after our meal. When I looked up the nutrition fact, I was shocked to find that one pizza crust has 1323mg of sodium! No wonder it left me guzzling water like a camel? a bear? you get the idea. While the food was definitely tasty and I enjoyed every bite, I may have to reconsider coming back for the sake of my kidneys. read more

Everything about this place is amazing. I usually don't like thin pizzas because I'm more of a "hand-crust" kind of girl and I like my crust to be all bready. I'll leave this place as an exception because of the unlimited toppings and it's just so good. If you like dipping your pizza with ranch but you want a bit of spice, I recommend asking for the Sriracha ranch. Yum. I've also tried their garlic sticks and they're pretty good too. We were a little weary when we saw the size, but a few workers assured us that it would be enough to fill both of us up. MOD gives you the option to choose one of their combinations or you can choose your own toppings. We decided to choose our own toppings so we can have exactly what we wanted. On we go to our toppings! Our pizza consisted of pepperoni, bacon, spicy sausage, arugula, spinach, bacon, oregano, more mozzarella, and more bacon for good measure. In case you can't tell, we love our bacon. :). Once we were done customizing our pizza, it was time to play the waiting game... We waited.. and waited.. and finally our pizza was done! That was the longest 7 minutes of our lives! The pizza actually came out a lot quicker than we were expecting considering our experiences at other pizza restaurants. The crust was so crispy and the crunch from each bite was like music to our ears. The double crusts reminded me of Pizza Hut's stuffed crust, but even better since the cheesy goodness was throughout the entire pizza. Sadly, this pizza was nowhere near enough to fill either of us up. Chipotle style concept but for pizza. For $7.47, you get the regular four slice 11' sized pizza (personal sized). There's also a mini 6' pizza for $4.47 and $10.47 mega sized double 11' crust pizza. There's also a pizza salad options. You can either pick one of the suggested styles of pizza or pick your own sauce and toppings from the counter. Pick your pizza sauce base (red, white, pesto, bbq, garlic) and cheese/toppings/dressings. I like how there's no extra costs for what you put on the pizza - so put as much meat and veges as you like! Place your pizza order and take a seat. They'll call your name to pick up your pizzas. There were 7 people working at the time, but they were still trying to get the process straightened out. There are to-go boxes by the soda fountain machine if you can't finish. Crust is definitely thin and nothing like you would get w/ a real chained pizza place like Papa Johns or Pizza Hut. The cheese and toppings sometimes slide off the dough because the crust was so thin so at times I was just eating a plain piece of bbq sauced dough since everything fell off to my plate. The dough doesn't rise so it doesn't have that o-so cheesiness you get from pizza that takes more than 5 mins to make. Overall, I like the new concept and the faster option of getting a personal sized pizza that you really can't go wrong w/ how your pizza tastes since you're the person putting things you like on it. However, after experiencing it, we would only go if we wanted a quick personal sit down place for pizza. There are lots of meat, veggie, and spice choices to select. All I saw were pretty standard. Today I ordered the "Mod"-sized (which was basically a regular) pizza with red sauce, mozzarella, grilled chicken, roasted red peppers, green bell peppers, and a pesto drizzle at the end. The finished product was tasty but nothing special. It honestly took longer to wait in line and order the pizza than it did to bake it. Therefore I used that time to scope-out the place. Things appeared on until I saw some bags of what I assume was trash on a cart outside of the kitchen and in plain sight! That was a real turn off but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and hope that it was about to be taken out to a large trash bin. Wish I had discovered Mod Pizza sooner. Ordered online and was able to build two custom pizzas for pickup. When I arrived they were just going in the oven, so were hot and fresh to take home. Overall an excellent value considering $7.87 for any or all toppings on an 11" thin crust pizza. Ingredients were fresh and generously applied. Was it the best pizza in town? Maybe not up to Michelin star standards, but better in many ways than pizzas twice the price. Two pizzas, tax and tip and I was out the door for $20 and change. I did not inquire, but I'm anxious to see if we can BYOB wine here. That would just add to the appeal. Pizzas were fresh, they got the toppings right. They tasted very good. Staff is always positive and they think smart when there is crowd. By smart, I mean they know when to divide the stations into two and help two customers at a time. I went to go pick up a mobile order and I was told by a staff member that the dough had been changed from thin crust to regular bread dough. I live fairly close to MOD and have passed it several times without ever stopping in. I've been to similar establishments and was less than impressed, so I had no intention of coming here. Well look who made a customer out of me! My friends took me here for a quick bite of food before going to look at the Christmas lights in The Heights. I wasn't really hungry, but when I took a bite, I just kept eating. Delicious pizza! This is set up similar to Subway and Chipotle, where you can order a specific pie and add toppings or "make-your-own", all in an assembly-line fashion - yep they do everything right in front of you - from meats to cheese to veggies to sauce (garlic butter is the way to go). This location used to be top-notch. Not sure what happened. As I type this there is a knife on the floor, and a free range pill in one of the booths. The employee who made our pizza had a sour attitude. I wasn't done with my toppings when she moved on to the next person. Not to mention I asked for a mini and she gave me a mod. The lettuce at the beginning of the line looked old and dirty. Not fresh at all. Not something you want to see when there is an E. Coli outbreak going on with lettuce right now. Bad first impression of Mod if this is typical. I waited for about 25 minutes for my pizza then was handing a cold pie. It was very busy so I didn't think much of the wait but when they called my name the guy serving asked me to confirm it was in fact the pizza I ordered. I confirmed then went to sit down. It was then that I realized it was barely warm. When I brought it to the managers attention I was told that they lost the sheet with my name on it and it took a while to figure out my name. Mod Pizza is located in the middle of Zoe's Kitchen and Chang's Chinese restaurant. Definitely one of my favorite pizza places. I usually opt in for a Mod (medium) sized pizza and a side salad. The great thing about MOD is that you aren't hit with a bunch of up-charges for adding on ingredients, such as you would from any other pizza joint. The ingredients are all part of the price - this is ESPECIALLY sweet, considering the freshness of the ingredients. They do have several choices of pizza you can choose from, kinda how other places have meat lovers or vegetarian, but you can also BYO pizza, which is what I do! Definitely a great place for customer service! How I'm treated goes a long way for me!!! The friendly staff is always more than willing to help you with your menu choice. So why -1 star? I always avoided this place thinking it was just another chain, but there is a reason this is the fastest growing restaurant in America - their pizza is good! It's thin, the sauce is tangy - not spicy, but has a little heat. They use quality toppings, tasty dough and there is very little grease. The only reason they don't get 5 stars is the quality of the salads. There is room for improvement. But who goes to a pizza place to get salad in the first place?
