So this review is about two weeks late, but BLTN right? So 10 mins prior to walking into MOD, I walked out of Jimmy John's (review posted). Let's just say the guys wanted to go home and didn't feel like being helpful. So needless to say [sic], I sat in my car, pondering my hunger and situation. I wasn't dying of hunger, but i wanted to resolve my issue quickly. I looked around...yeah i could have a MOD pizza. After a few minutes i walked up to the restaurant and strolled in. MOD pizza always has such a chill atmosphere. I ordered the Tristin as per usual with artichoke hearts, and a couple extra toppings. The pizza was very tasty and I brought about 1/3 of it home for a snack the next day. My only complaint was that while it wasn't "undercooked", it wasn't as crispy as I like it. This is one of those build-your-own pizza spots where you pay just under $12 for a 6-inch pizza and can load it up with as many toppings as you want--cheeses, sauces, veggies, meats, you name it. Everything goes through their oven and comes out hot and fresh. It does feel a little pricey for the size, especially when you add extras like the cauliflower crust, which is about $3.50 more. Unlimited drinks are also priced similarly. They also offer canned wine and beer, plus dessert cakes if you're in the mood for something sweet. The pizza itself was delicious--perfectly baked and very flavorful. The crust was on the thinner side, which is great if you love thin-crust pizza, but a slightly thicker crust would probably hold up better, especially if you load on a lot of toppings. There's definitely a fine balance when it comes to ingredients, since too many can overpower each other, so it may take a visit or two to dial in the perfect combo. I loved the variety of topping options, and if you're not into customizing, they also have some solid pre-selected pizzas to choose from. The staff was excellent and super accommodating, making the pizza exactly how we wanted it. There's plenty of seating both inside and outside, and parking was easy. Uhhhhhhh.... What. Just. Happened. This was the strangest interaction with several workers I've ever had. They all seem so.... Mad? Bored out of their minds? Pissed off? DID I JUST GET BULLIED by the workers at mod?? I've never seen so many eye rolls, glares and sighs in a single sitting. (To every single person that's coming in) I feel like I just walked into the twilight zone of anger and frustration. The swinging door had someone just staring out into the abyss of anger. I tried to grab a photo but they slithered back into the back room, and I'm assuming that's a deeper hole of depression than what I faced in the front of the store. I'm so confused on the vibe of the store. The way my pizza was slammed on the counter with such anger, made me cry with laughter when I left the store. How are there 8-10 workers this angry? I can't even begin to explain how weird this location was. You know the Australian restaurant that is famous for being rude? They could hire every single one of these employees and would be great there. However, not a fit for mod. Did an angry mob of Lake Oswego moms come through right before me and set the mood? The selling point here is that you can customize your pie with whatever you like (no increased charge for adding more toppings) and you can leave off what you don't like. Cooking is fast so no long wait. This means that this place is great (1) if you want pizza and in a rush, (2) don't want to spend a ton on pizza, (3) if you have kids who want a smaller pizza and can customize to their liking. Ambience is same across all Mods. Get in line, order at counter, pick up when number called, pick your own table, get your soft drinks at the side. I think some locations have beer on tap, but this one only had a couple of beer/cider options in the fridge. Big parking lot, although spots are tight. Easy option, especially with kids, but don't expect world-class, fancy pizza. read more

This Mod Pizza is basically a portal to the afterlife. I'm pretty sure the people working here are zombies. The lineup of employees were moving so slowly I almost thought it was a prank. The frowns on everyones faces made me wonder if someone had died. I wasn't in a hurry and was afraid to step on anyones toes, so I had no problem waiting with a smile on my face. One employee was wearing a beanie that had "dead inside" written across the front and I nearly laughed because it could not have been more accurate. These people only communicated in faint whispers & eyerolls. The cherry on top of this experience was when my friend asked for sauce and the employee slammed it down on the counter with a force that could make a grown man cry. I don't enjoy being treated like garbage, but this experience was so bad that it was comical & I walked away stifling laughter. I'm regretting that now as I write this review & beginning to wonder if they're okay? Do these workers need a wellness check? Is everyone alright? This caused the line to get really long and there was no movement for at least 10-15 minutes while the staff was trying to figure out something. Great thin crust pizza cooked in a open gas fired pizza oven in a matter of seconds. Giving you that thin crisp bubbled crust. Wonderful red sauce reminds me of the old days pizza, lots of stringy mozzarella cheese, not that fake stuff from other chains. The selection of toppings is remarkable and very fresh. Just had their made to order mini salad for lunch. Fresh, tasteful, quick and delicious. I like to stop by for lunch as you can watch and coach them as they make up your salad. This prevents overdressed salad and you get exactly what you want. Today I chose just a mini salad with bacon,olives (Greek were awesome), grilled broccoli, and tomatoes. There are so many of these fast food-style custom pizza places popping up in the metro area, sometimes it is hard to keep them straight. And if you have teenage boys in the house, these places are practically in the weekly rotation. In the past month, I've visited MOD locations in Happy Valley, Lake Oswego, Beaverton, and Camas. But really this review is about MOD vs. Pieology in nearby Tualatin [1]. Similarities: Both are national chains. Both have a list of popular combinations or you can customize your own pizza. Both are choose as many toppings as you want for the same price. Both send you through an assembly line similar to Subway as you create your pizza (sauce, meat, veggies, etc.). Price point is similar. Extra items (salads, sweets, and beverages) are minimal. Both interiors are modern and industrial. Both are packed with teenagers behind the counter and as customers. Both have a small selection of craft brews on tap. Differences: MOD has house made lemonade, ice tea, and MODshakes in addition to sodas (Coke products). You can order on-line at MOD, but this is not available at the Oregon locations of Pieology yet. At MOD, if you don't like it your custom pizza, you get a do-over free of charge (https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/mod-pizza-lake-oswego?select=fqTpqO0Mi0S6TASG4lHMeQ). I personally can't discern a big difference in the pizzas. My youngest prefers Pieology (for some undetermined reason), I prefer MOD, and my oldest likes pizza with a thicker crust, so he's happier ordering from a more traditional pizza place like Bellagios or Pizza Schmizza. Of the four locations I've recently visited, the Lake Oswego MOD location is especially nice because of the open air seating when they open one wall for a shared patio with WOW Burger! next door. There is plenty of counter seating by the windows if you're dining alone as well. We did order the Cinnamon Strips for dessert once and they weren't great. I would give them a pass. Overall, when we are looking for quick-and-easy personal pizzas, I try to direct the family towards MOD based on the berry lemonade and balsamic fig glaze finishing sauce, which makes MOD my pizza place of choice for this style of pizza. I definitely have a love affair with this place. The food is good. The price is right and there are gluten free options for my gf friends. This came as a recommendation from a co-worker and he was not wrong. You can select the size of your pie straight away and go with one of their many recommendations or build your own. Since I have an allergy to anything tomato (how does that happen in America when everything has it). I usually elect to build my own. I got them to put many veggie toppings on and a pesto sauce which was delightful. Choice of beer, wine, or craft made teas and ades. I usually go for the teas but the wine and beer are reasonably priced as well. Only odd thing was a staffer tried to take the red pepper shaker away before I was done because she was, "looking for something to do". Ironically, as we walked out I looked back at the trash can in front of the establishment which was overflowing to the point people were balancing debris on the edge and it was falling to the ground. I get into a line of cranky people...ugh...wait for my turn. Super friendly guy asks nicely if this is my first time and offers to help me out...I tell him I think I get it and just order a standard pizza and add a meat plus a side salad. I am sorta shocked how much you get for pretty cheap. Another guy does my salad and if also super nice confirming I don't want any changes to my salad. Then a sweet girl rings me up. I can't recommend MOD pizza strong enough. It has delicious food and friendly people. I especially enjoy this location. I love the way we can have whatever toppings on our pizzas that we want and the the people at MOD don't make you feel bad if you order extra of a particular topping! They're always very friendly here and I've become a regular. The toppings are always fresh and colorful. They cook the pizza perfectly in their large fire oven. I think the prices are pretty reasonable considering you can have as many toppings as you want. They even have a delicious gluten free crust if you have a wheat allergy. If pizza sounds too heavy you can always get a salad with your choice of toppings instead. Stop by and give them a try! :-) read more

I just don't get the hype about their pizza. Don't get me wrong, it's good, but it's not fantastic write home to mom about it good. Artisan style pizzas are certainly my favorite these days. Ordering through a mobile phone was easy and service was flawless on a pickup order, no wait, no complaints. They do stock Mexi-Coke in the bottle if you're looking to avoid the high fructose corn syrup. Where MOD really kind of falls apart is their crust. The taste and texture is really similar to two toasted tortillas sandwiched together, it even bubbles between the layers like so. The cinnamon strips which are made from their signature crust really highlights the similarity to a tortilla. Essentially it tasted like a toasted tortilla with some sugar and cinnamon sprinkled ontop with a runny caramel dipping sauce on the side, maybe not their finest of concoctions. A deep fry would certainly change the game on that one. Otherwise the pizza itself tastes decent, nothing burnt, maybe a little conservative on the spread. Everything tastes fresh, pricing is reasonable. Can't really go wrong finding a decent pizza, I would return, but I also wouldn't go out of my way to do so. read more

Fast, friendly and extremely good price for a freshly made pie! We were happily surprised to see that every pizza and entree salad was the same price no matter what you wanted on it! Under 7.50 for a personally made pie? That's perfect! We got the Calexico pizza which has gorgonzola cheese, chicken, buffalo sauce and jalapeños and a giant salad with artichokes, olives and chicken. Again, only 7.45 for each thing so we didn't break the bank! You add the fact that they have house made teas and lemonades, and you have the perfect place to grab a quick and delicious bite! Tried the Dillon James but by the time I was done it wasn't a Dillon James anymore. I added too much stuff. Fantastic. Light crunchy but not hard crust. My girl loved her mini with white sauce and cheese. Was so good she asked for another. My boy had classic pepperoni. A slight warning. Don't get a pizza without sauce. My wife tried a cheese less pizza and only put on olive oil and garlic rub as the base. It makes the crust dry and hard not their fault. The milkshakes were so thick the kids could barely suck it out. Tried chocolate, strawberry, and blueberry cheesecake. All pretty good. Marionberry lemonade is good. I like my lemonade a little more tart but still good. The service was awesome!! Very friendly and helpful. Got a family vibe. Will definitely be back. My only concern with the location is that there might not be enough parking for all the customers once all the stores open. Kind of like the ?enterpointe plaza(Chiptole, Oswego Grill, Potbelly). A coworker and I decided to munch some lunch today at the newly-opened Mod pizza in Kruse Village. The service here is impossibly slow. They are situated in the middle of a massive collection of business parks and the vast majority of their customers will be peeps like me, meaning on a lunch break with a time limit. We took our places around 11:30 am, just before the real lunch rush, and waited about 10 minutes to arrive at the start of the Subway-like ordering line. The ordering process took about 5 minutes, and we waited an additional 15 minutes for the pizzas to cook up. For those of you with sub-par math skills, that's 30 minutes before we could sink our teeth into some cheese. Ouch. The semi-saving grace here is that the pizza was tastier than I thought it was going to be. The crust is solid, super thin and crunchy from the oven. The red sauce was meh, overall bland and uninspiring. The chicken and veggies I added to my pie were acceptably fresh and flavorful--no fireworks but definitely edible. The vibe here is a bit ridiculous in it's attempt to appear cool. The employees wear shirts that could easily be mistaken for graphic tees from any suburban mall store. The walls have stylized font statements and lit up "vintage" tin arrows. Couple that with a menu that reads like the roll call at an uber hip preschool (Tristan, Lucy, Jasper, and Dillon James) and you get the complete picture. The verdict? Really fun/cheap place to take a bunch of kids. They are a little stingy with the topping amounts BUT you can get as many as you like, so there's that. I get the gluten free crust and it's meh. It's been a couple of months since I have had a MOD pizza so I decided to swing into this one and grab some dinner. I went with one of my go-to creations: Mad Dog with jalapeños and roasted garlic. I added a mini Caesar with chicken and Brussels sprouts and who can forget the Marion Blackberry Lemonade. The pizza was cooked near perfectly and the salad was fresh. The first guy working the line changed the romaine lettuce out as he thought the lettuce that was up top didn't look good. Nice initiative! The only con I noticed was that the line started with 3 people on it and then two of them just disappeared. I was left with a sauced and cheesed pizza for about 2 minutes waiting for someone to get back to me. Neither of those two people returned. There was a single girl on the line that finished my pizza and the person behind me. At any rate the restaurant was clean and the food was tasty as I always expect MOD to be. First impression of this location was sad... ordered 2 pizzas. Both seemed pretty undercooked. I'd say this location seems a little scattered and possibly disorganized. Called to add additional things to order, for an ok we will take care of it. Only to of had half of what was added, taken care of. Seems things very hectic there. And my sister works down that way and has gotten pizza from this location and had similar issues with the undercooked pizza. I think they're rushing the process a little too much, and I don't think it's due to high volume because my sister had this issue months ago before the stay at home order was even a thought... ugh. I was torn over how many stars to give this location. The staff were faultless and it was awesome that they offer minis because the mods are too big for all of us and we all want to design our own pizza. The location was convenient and fairly pretty with lots of parking and a spacious and chilled atmosphere. My main issue was recycling and the lack of it! If the Washington MOD pizza has recycling and composting why doesn't Oregon? Or this specific location? I can't stand the waste. Why??? It's nearly enough for me to drop it to 3 stars but as a chain I don't think it's this individual locations fault. Let's save the planet and compost and recycle! read more

The staff was friendly, the ingredients looked good, and there was no line to speak of. It took a few minutes to cook the pizza crust obviously but the wait wasn't bad.
