It's a build up your pizza as you tell them what ingredients you want on your pizza. So if everyone has several a few different pizzas it can take some time waiting in line. The pizzas aren't real big. The store is nice and bright and lively colors. The staff seemed out of sync a lot on who was doing what. Overall the pizzas were good; but wouldn't be my first choice for a pizza. The nice thing is you can create your own custom pizza. read more

Friendly service. Hip and cool decor. It's a nice place to bring a crowd for pizza. The pizzas are definitely fresh tasting. Their regular crust (Mod crust) is so thin, it's like a cracker (Not for my taste.) The Mega Thick crust is not really 'mega thick.' It's actually more like a normal crust thickness. The ovens used help to create a nice crunchy crust with just the right amount of char taste. Overall, it's a cool place to get pizza, good fresh tasting pizza. I'm not sure if I think it's worth the cost, though. Maybe just go on occasion. read more

NEVER order a pizza via delivery from MOD. You WILL get the wrong order and at least one person or more in your house will not be eating. When you call customer service, they tell you something along the lines of, "I would suggest maybe you don't order for delivery next time and just go pick it up yourself." The website doesn't list the delivery service--not sure if it's DoorDash, EatStreet or an in-house operation-- and the delivery people share the blame, but it falls on MOD itself to ensure they have capable delivery--and if you can't ensure that, DON'T OFFER DELIVERY. They remember us every time we come in and go the extra mile to accommodate me and my daughter with food allergies (peanut and tree nut). Quick service with a smile. We mainly get the "build your own" style pizza - but love their salads too. The zesty Roma salad dressing is amazing. Price is good and affordable plus the rewards program actually gives you rewards! Same as my experience in the Carolinas but I don't recall other locations having a fire oven. Either way, I'd rather have a fire going to cook pizza than the oven rollers. They have Pride month discount. Any pizza or salad at @ $5 so long as you're wearing a rainbow. The young lady making my za was so new and was timid. So I'm very familiar with MOD, the other locations in madison have been solid. The main issue here is a revolving door where the entirety of the crew has changed out completely in the last couple years. I stopped in last week. Setting that aside - it's always been consistent. They've really stopped trying I feel like. The stuff on the toppings area aren't labeled anymore (sometimes they aren't even stocked well). The last couple times have been bad. This last time was the worst and I'll think thrice before going back to this location. Pizza was burnt (pictures provided) The whole bottom was burnt and nasty. I ended up throwing it away. My wife's was also burnt and horrible in a different way. The person we had make our pizza - put barely any toppings on. Even when asking for more cheese, it didn't fill out the pizza. My wife's didn't even have anything on about 20-30 percent on one side. Very, very stingy. The other locations aren't like this at all. This location never used to be like this. I had the same employee make me a pizza before and it was almost as bad on the toppings (but not burnt at least). The redeeming part is - the No Name Cakes are still as always, awesome. The soda is good. But when you burn the pizzas? When it's a chore to get the toppings like this? It's not really worth the hassle. I hope things get better for this location. But it's been spiraling for a while. They used to have boisterous personalities in the front - but now the front of house seems soft, quiet (and stingy). Even the crust doesn't feel right - it's supposed to be light and airy. It's just been off the last 4 visits. By all means - don't avoid MOD - I love their crust, the concept, the toppings. First time trying this place was great! When we arrived, one of the employees was coming in and held the door open for us. Follow that up with some of the friendliest employees preparing the food. Staff was A+! We also love the concept of this place where you can completely design your own pizza for one price. We make pizza from scratch at home frequently, so this was a nice change to be able to still customize it when going out and not being upcharged. As for the pizza itself, the red sauce was pretty good and the crust was nice and crispy when it came out. There were also bubbles in the dough, which I love on pizza! I will say an unexpected surprising favorite topping was the hot honey. It had a great heat to counteract the sweet. I'm very glad I added it to the pizza. We will definitely be back! read more

MOD reminds me of Mellow Mushroom in some ways. I'm just not sure it hits the right notes for me. I was puzzled by the "superfast" tagline when I finally made it to MOD. While the restaurant was pretty busy with a dinnertime crowd, the pizza production line was extremely backed up and the staff seemed more frustrated than anything else. I totally get a full restaurant meaning a little wait, but it seemed off for this style of restaurant where you go through the line choosing your toppings to have to wait at the end of the line for almost half an hour. It became confusing at the end of the line where many people were waiting and customers weren't sure when or where to pay and how to get their finished pizzas. Happily receiving pizzas once they were ready, I was excited to dive in. I had the Calexico, basically a buffalo chicken pizza with jalapeños. I got extra buffalo sauce, which I simultaneously loved and regretted... This is one hot pizza, my spicy-loving friends! Overall, it was good but not a pizza I'd have cravings for and rush back for. One of my favorite pizza spots in the Madison area. The service is always great and the place is always clean.

Fading and fading at an alarming rate. My first and several subsequent MOD P visit was at the Fish Hatchery location and they all were worthy of repeat visits. More recently due to no longer in that area regularly I have visited the new Gammon/Mineral Pt. store. The first visits were as I indicated enjoyable though I suspect I was too generous with the stars, or maybe not. I don't know. What I do know is that the last two visits were both less than I'd expected. The pizzas were really not that exciting. But more to point was the less than enthusiastic and knowledgeable attitude of the employees making the pizza. It was still a quick order, as fast food should be, but the lackluster vibe was evident. What a great lunch! We have been noticing Mod pizza stores opening in the area and have always been nicely surprised when visiting. Today was particularly awesome at this location, the new spot on Mineral Point Road near Memorial H.S. As with all of the Mod locations we've visited, the store was bright, clean and we were greeted with a friendly welcome. For the un-Mod uninitiated, they have a set of regular pizza types which you can customize as you like. Of course, you can also build your own pizza from scratch with all the toppings you would expect anywhere, all at one modestly and fairly priced price! Get every topping if you like although I think that'd be pretty overdone;). Fresh veggies, olives, artichoke, marinated peppers, sausage, pepperoni, etc. and nice finishing touches you can add (I.e., hot honey, balsamic vinegar, etc.) The crust, in particular, is particularly yummy. Light, crispy and chewy all at once. You build your pizza along a line and then pay. They call your name when it is ready. Easy peasy! They have a nice selection of self-serve soft drinks and, bonus points, two types of New Glarus beer on tap! I had the Justin: mushrooms, sausage with the red sauce to which I added Black olives, roasted garlic, tomato, oregano, rosemary and finished with hot honey. Wifey had the margherita styled, to which she added black olives and roasted peppers. As usual, awesome sauce! We also shared an entrée salad with You can also build yourself with their fresh vegetables, salad toppings and dressings. What made this visit stand out was the manager who shared Mod's backstory and their commitment to each of their local communities. She humbly shared a story of how they recently helped Jefferson middle school and their PTA with their end of year celebration. Indeed, above and beyond for them. Apparently, it is just one of many stories showing how Mod quietly goes about helping their communities as a whole and individuals personally. Who knew? I went to MOD for a work lunch. It seemed like a good choice - nice reviews, interesting concept, and close to work. I love the "build your own" concept. It gave me an opportunity to take some chances without ruining a whole pizza. You can get half this, half that, put a pepper over there - whatever you want. Hey - if you just want a little pepperoni and that's it? No problem. As I was talking to my wife about my plans to eat here and how it works, she was concerned that someone of simple tastes (cheese & sausage) might not get the bang for their buck. I can see that. But after eating the pizza, I'd say to not worry - the end result is excellent! The crust was crispy without being burnt. The sauce had enough zest to it to not be bland, but didn't overpower the rest of the pizza. The toppings all that great flavor. The 11" pizza is plenty for one person - if you're hungry, go for it. Otherwise, take some home for later. I will definitely have this again. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The restaurant was clean. The location is great. For just a few dollars more than a quality frozen pizza, you can get something freshly made and much better! read more

I went when i had little time to eat. What i liked about then place was that you are the maker of your food. They have some pre-defined menu options but your can still customize all or some of it (whatever suites you). The staff is nice and patient, so sorry nt hesitate to ask or request anything. I loved that you can add more meat and the price does not increase, who does not like more meat in their pizza, duh! A friend recommended this and we went over to check it out and instantly fell in love! The price is very reasonable to start off! All crusts are thin and come out nice and crispy so you dont feel like you are stuffing bread into you! And all pizzas come with unlimited toppings of all kinds! Plus sauces to drizzle on after it is out of the oven!! We were a group of vegetarian and non vegetarian eaters and it worked out wonderfully well! They offer as few iced teas as well. We tried the garlic strips and those were not that great. I personally was super hungry and got myself a loaded mod pizza and could only eat half - that's how many toppings were on it! Ok....twice this week we have been to this particular spot. I thought it was just a fluke. A bad day the first time...apparently not because today is worse than Monday was. Ordered online, told to pick up at 1205. The restaurant is EMPTY. So we go up in there at 1152 and our food is in a large plastic bag sitting on a shelf. The cold soda in the same plastic bag as the supposedly hot pizzas. So the pizza I ordered was chicken, onion, mushroom and diced tomatoes. The onions and tomatoes and mushrooms were seemingly put on AFTER the pizza was cooked. They were all cold and soggy. There was standing water on the pizza that required holding the box at an angle to let it run off. The center of the pizza dough was so soggy it was sticking to the paper in the box and just all falling apart. Everything was cold except the soda which was nice and warm from being in the steam bag for whatever period of time it was in there.. Ridiculous. We won't ever be returning to this place. read more

Mod Pizza is the perfect lunch spot! It's the chipotle/subway type deal- you pay for the crust and then you go down the line and choose your own toppings! They also have some already made pizza options where like margherita, etc. The 11" is the perfect amount for one person to be full and have some leftovers. It's only $7 and some change too! You don't pay for toppings so you can load up. There are different kinds of cheese, lots of meat options, every veggie possible, and lots of fresh herbs. The pizza is then wood fire cooked. The crust is nice and crispy! Seriously surprisingly delicious pizza- better than a lot of fancy, sit down pizza joints for sure. I also want to give a special mention to the staff at this particular location- Garrett, Jesus, & Riri. They were all very helpful especially with my friend who was there for her first time. I've been grabbing MOD Pizza for a while now and it's time for a review! My friend and I come here after our saturday gym sesh (I know contradictory) but it's well worth it. The ingredients are always fresh and have tons of flavor. MOD offers a wide variety of toppings from cheeses to meats to veggies. I usually grab a regular crust but next time I'm going to explore a deep dish. The sauces there are always good and the employees never over do it. The service is always very friendly too. I was enthralled by the concept - it's like a Subway for pizza! What could go wrong? The answer, my friends, is everything. We showed up to a line out the door. Having some time on our hands we contemplated staying but instead thought a better use of our time would be to place an online order and come back in 30min-1hr for our food. So we kill some time and wander back ~45 min later. Our food is no where near being done. The line has kinda moved but not substantially. We wait patiently, absolutely entranced by the woman expediting. She's a hoot! Another 30 min go by. She's asked us our names and chatted with us a bit. But our orders are still nowhere to be found. The place is clearing out by now - back to the usual rush. Another 10 min. She's offered us drinks, since we're clearly parched and our food remains unseen. Finally she figures it out - our orders were never made! While I appreciated the speed with which they prepared our food once things were sorted out - I don't understand how it got that way. From where I stood no one in the "kitchen" had a defined job. And there was no order/system to label pizzas as they moved through the process. This resulted in more than just our order getting lost. If they can sort out the process and get the system more efficient I'd love to come back and try again. The pizza was tasty but at that point I'd have eaten anything! read more

The pizza place version of Chipotle or Subway. You go down the line and pick your toppings, or choose one of the specialty pizzas - 3 different sizes - we each got 11 inch pizzas (their default size), and had one piece left. They cook it right in front of you in a brick oven, which is fun to watch - the cook was definitely good at his job - and in constant motion, working his butt off. Their sign says "super fast", but they definitely have quite a learning curve ahead of them until they attain that status. My pizza came out right away, but it took at least 10 additional minutes until my hubby's pizza was ready - even though we could see that it was cooked and sitting on the counter, along with MANY others. Pretty good assembly line system going on, until they get to the last station. Pizzas were piling up, with one guy trying to manage all of them. Started to feel bad for the poor guy. He was flipping through orders/plates, trying to match them up with the pizzas, then had to cut them (with what looked like the dullest pizza cutter ever), plus put the finishing touches on some of them (e.g., finishing sauce), get the take out ones into impossible to open to go boxes, and call people's names and hand out the orders. Too much for one person. I waited for the hubby's to finally be ready to pick up, and by then both of ours were cold. The pizza themselves were pretty good - crispy cracker type of crust that was ok - not what we expected from a brick oven type place, but decent. Thought it would be more like the Neapolitan style with chewy, charred crust. The tomato sauce was really flavorful, and there were tons of toppings - the spicy chicken sausage is definitely spicy! Nice variety of drinks - several different interesting flavored iced teas. The place itself felt really cramped - the tables are so close to each other, and there is one long table that has a weird curve to it so the surface is not flat so a plate can't sit on it - making it unusable. Tons of people were standing around waiting for their pizzas, which made it feel more claustrophobic. I don't know that I'd want to eat in there again, but the pizza is good, so next time perhaps we will get it to go. Unfortunately the whole ambiance and service piece of the experience overshadowed the pizza, but we'll give it another try after they've been open for awhile. read more
