My new favorite pizza place! We have had PJ's twice now and I'm a big fan. The owners/managers (at least that's who I assume they are) are fantastic. Friendly with above and beyond service! Giving them your business is reason enough to order pizza tonight, but lucky for you it's really good pizza too! I've tried the Italian salad and I've had the cheese white garlic pizza twice now and it's excellent. The hand tossed pizza is buttery without being greasy and the flavor is outstanding. "We know our food" is displayed on their website and they aren't lying. Last night we ordered several different pizzas to share and I was happy to try the taco pizza. I was a little unsure about having refried beans on it but it added a great flavor without overwhelming the slice. I will say I don't think the crust can quite stand up to the topping volume, so have a knife and fork at the ready. Would thin crust actually have been better? Not sure. My dad's actually never had taco pizza before and he thought it was excellent. This is terrible pizza. There's really not much else to say. Every so often it's okay but most of the time it's basically tough chewy greasy bread with something that probably used to be toppings. One time I thought they might have cut through the box and a piece of cardboard was stuck to the bottom of the slice I was eating. Nope, just Tano's. Also I think they might employ blind folded six year olds to cut the pizza. Sometimes I wonder if it was cooked on the driver's engine block while they drove around delivering good pizzas to all the lucky people. read more

These guys are so friendly all the time. They work very hard for our satisfaction. I, personally, agree with some other reviewers who mention it is the only delivery service in our area. Some of the other area restaurants have tried offering delivery. You can't really count on it to be available when you want it, not reliably like Tano's anyway. These guys are within their timeframes of delivery all the time with us & it surprises us how fast they can be at times. They might have been out of time frame a couple times, but my husband and I have been ordering from them since they opened in Cross Plains and now they have three Tano's! What about the food? Well, we usually stick to our typical chicken bacon bbq thin crust pizza and couple of salads. Once in a while we will allow ourselves the breadsticks! Oh my! the breadsticks! They come with parmigiana cheese all over them- stuck on with melted butter & a couple of sauces- garlic sauce & marinara sauce. It is like eating a heart attack. Tastes so good to our unrefined rural Wisconsin tongues. We aren't foodies who pretend to eat. We eat the foodies & the Twinkie's & the HoHos too, then ask, "what's for dinner, Ma?" The hidden gems are the salads though. They are huge, even for a manly man to eat in one sitting, especially if they intend to partake in any pizza or breadsticks. We usually split one salad & save the other for the next meal. I love the Italian Salad without olives & my husband can't get enough of the chicken Caesar salad, but we have had all of their salads & they are very good & reasonably priced too. Sure you could make them for less, but who has all the ingredients in their kitchen & wants to do the prep work anymore. By the way, if you pick up your pizza, which you can, you would be able to see the new space they have in Cross Plains & talk to them about how they cleaned & sanitized after the flood. They are in a new space on Hwy 14 still just a couple buildings away from their initial space. I'm sure the owner/ manager would be happy to schedule a tour during a lull in service /in between meal times. As you can see, even if they weren't the only choice for fast hot delivery, I would still order from them. I'm a loyal customer, if not for the salads, then I would need the breadsticks once in a while! Pizza is good too, but I like the other stuff better & my husband eats most of the pizza. Working on a house in the area stopped in to grab some lunch. Ordered a Philly chicken sub sandwich. It was quickly served hot and toasty. It was excellent. We tried Tano's immediately after moving to the area. Quick delivery and great pizza--way better than a chain. The chicken ranch and philly cheese steak are both great! Give them a shot for your next pizza order. We've ordered a few other things off the menu in the past few months--the wings, boneless and bone-in leave things to be desired and the Mac and cheese wasn't great. The pizza is good, but everytime we order they cannot get the pickup time right. They tell us 45 minutes. We get there to pick it up and end up waiting over 30 more minutes. Thieves. The last 4 times I have picked up a pizza I have had to deal with: 1. The cashier complain that I did not leave a tip (on a carryout order) 2. A receipt that said $2.00 off but they only took $1.00 off 3. Use of the school fundraising 'Park card' that led to no money off as advertised. 4. Their website showing $8.95 for a Monday night deal but when I arrived they asked for over $13 and after showing the deal still on their own website, which says no coupon required so it should be automatically applied, the cashier would only go down to $10.50. After explaining the math to this person (8.95*1.055=9.44) they just laughed at me! It is the small things and small costs that irritate people. Instead of having me continue to be a consistent customer and provide them with continued profit, they would rather choose to blatantly lie, complain, and over-charge to make a few dollars. We've had Tano's a few times, and frankly, we're just tired of it. The pizza tends to be dry, and the sauce is nothing special. By the time it's delivered, or we get it home from carry-out, it doesn't taste fresh. While not horrible, it's not something we look forward to. It's one of those things that you order, don't enjoy it, forget about it, then order it again 6 months later only to be disappointed again. My latest quest to find the finest pizzas in south central Wisconsin took me to the sleepy burg of Cross Plains (nobody said this job was going to be glamorous). I had a restaurant.com certificate to Tano's Pizza burning a hole in my pocket and a last minute cancellation of my daughter's soccer practice meant I had time to make the 45 minute round trip to Cross Plains. Tano's is strictly a carryout / delivery operation wedged in a small storefront on the main drag of the village. The staff is friendly and happily accommodated my request get the Monday special price (a large two topping pizza for $8.95) with two different toppings on each side of the pizza. After applying my certificate, the net cost of the 16" two topping pizza was $4.44, so I give Tano's gets extremely high marks for cost-effectiveness. The pizza was piping hot when I picked it up 20 minutes after ordering it. When I flipped the top of the pizza box, I was impressed with the quantity of ingredients. My half of the pizza was loaded with sausage and mushrooms. Mounds of extra cheese covered my daughter's half, along with a sprinkling of feta. The crust of the pizza was largely flavorless and VERY chewy. I appreciated the crust was not doughy in the center of the pie, despite a heavy load of toppings. The sauce lacked any brightness - it tasted like under-seasoned tomato paste. Sauce volume was adequate given the topping load. The quality of the sausage topping was sub-par - it added practically no flavor. This pizza was crying out for a little oregano or fennel. Another big negative was the use of canned mushrooms on my side of the pizza. The cheese quality was adequate, low on flavor, but not overly greasy. The final verdict: While this is not pizza you want to serve to impress your friends, it is a cost-effective way to feed a gaggle of hungry teens when quantity is more important than quality. read more

I tried Tano's for the first time tonight and I'm here to say that it is pretty solid. I tried their meatball calzone and was pleasantly surprised. It was filled with classic flavors and was a very satisfying entree. My boyfriend is a big fan of their pizza . I feel that their pizza is good, but I have had better in the area. Lastly, their breadsticks are fantastic. Their breadsticks, honestly, might be the best I have had all year. If you are looking for classic pizza, calzones, and other usual pizza-place food, then I recommend Tano's. read more

Recently moved to the area and this is the only delivery. I had been hearing VERY mixed reviews about Tano's. I ordered and we decided to pick it up - they are only delivery or carry-out, no dine-in. We got the southwest pizza on their hand-tossed crust and an order of breadsticks. Everything was fresh and really hot! The pizza was really good but I'd probably try the thin crust next. The dough seemed pretty fresh and it had a nice chewy crust but the inside of the pizza was a little soggy. The breadsticks weren't anything special but for $3.50 you get a lot of them. Some of them were a lot bigger than others, therefore some were cooked a lot more. They must've coated them in butter and then sprinkled parmesan when they came out of the oven. Overall we'll definitely order again. They have a really diverse menu when it comes to specialty toppings which I love. Maybe we'll try delivery next time. read more

Driven by Tanos many times and finally made the decision to stop and try it while on a quick lunch hour drive. Discovered they don't sell slices but I was very pleased to discover they offer an 'All Mine' pizza, 7" in size. You can have whatever toppings they offer. I went for my old stand-bye... cheese and sausage, extra cheese. This was a Friday and the 'lunch special' was in effect, so TOTAL cost was $3.11! Well, worth waiting the six minutes to bake it. Based on other reviews, I didn't know what to expect taste wise but I'd have to agree with Matt W.'s description of the sauce...could use more spices. Tomato really comes through but you expect more from non-frozen za's. I thought the sausage was good but it is pre-made stuff, which most independents use to lower liability. A great example of mediocrcy! Often times takes more than an hour for a 5 mile delivery. Tonight was no exception 55 minutes after my order, the delivery arrived. As the driver was backing out of the drive, we realized the order was 100% wrong. I flagged down the driver and he tried his best to fix the issue. He called and asked for someone to remake the correct food(which I already paid for by the way). Another hour passes...no food. I called the store to inquire. The guy on the phone quoted my address, then asked me "what did I want them to do about it". I told him that I would like my food delivered, hopefully before my kids went to bed. He said okay he would have someone make it and get it to us as soon as possible. Low and behold, 25 minutes later the correct food arrived. This is not the first time my order has been incorrect nor do I expect it will be the last. Without any competition, the owners have no reason to improve! She would probably rate it 4 stars. Personally I don't much care for it.
