I see there are a lot of mixed reviews for this MOD site. All I can say is, when my daughter and I visited, it was great. Either they got their act together or the experience and food is hit or miss here. We had a great meal here and the employees were all friendly and the place was clean. There was a MOD Pizza near our house when we lived in the Seattle area for 25 years, and we all LOVED it so so much. I'm not even a "pizza person", but I loved the pizza here. They can customize it any way you like, there are no extra charges for all the many ingredients you can put on your pizza, and best of all, for me anyway, their pizzas and salads come in a cute, individual size which is PERFECT for one person. I've always LOVED this option. And the salads are fabulous, too, and also totally customizable. I just love that! Since moving to Canada in 2017, I've really missed my MOD. (Why oh why are there no MOD Pizza shops in Canada??? WHY??!). So when I recently visited my kid who lives in Portland, I requested we go to MOD for dinner one night. So on a dreary, rainy weeknight in early January, we drove here. And we were the only folks here the night we visited. We were greeted by the counter guys (who were all busy making pizzas, perhaps for pick-up orders), and we took our time reading the menu. (I noticed there were quite a few new pizzas and salads on the menu since I last visited a MOD, 6 years ago or so). I was relieved to see that my favorite Lucy Sunshine pizza was still there (yeah!), and their chopped salad. One of the counter guys told us it was his first day working there. He seemed apologetic, but he wasn't doing anything incorrectly or slowly. Seemed like a genuine nice guy. As were the other guys working. Anyhow, our meal was delicious, the pizza just how I remembered it, with the thin crust and the artichoke hearts and the garlic (SO good), and our salad was great, too. Reasonably priced, clean place, and delicious food. Wish I had a MOD closer to Vancouver!

I was a little ambitious with the pizza toppings and got too many spicy things, but the crust is delicious and cooked perfectly. They are reasonable with the amount of toppings they give. I was not a fan of the pesto drizzle, not a great flavor and waaaay too much was put on my pizza. Staff was super friendly and answered my questions. Love the outdoor seating. Good for big groups. Pretty clean.

Why is my pizza an optical illusion? Pizza was undercooked and the pizza slices were MIA

I love this place. I've been here three times. Each time I've put competently different toppings on my pizza and three times it has tasted great! As many toppings as you want for no extra charge!? Yes please! I'd pass on the dessert though. I think it was $4.50 or so? You can get a whole box of Ding Dongs at Safeway for like $2.

MOD pizza is always on point. If you like thin crust pizza, this is some of the best. The options are laid out like a Subway, where you get to pick all your toppings from scratch or you can pick one of their suggestions with different menu options to choose from. You get a tasty pizza that is freshly prepared and they serve it up quick. The outdoor patio was pretty chilly even on a warm day, so bring a jacket if you are going to dine in. Worth it to eat pizza in the sunshine.

Despite there being 5 employees working it still took 11 minutes for anyone to acknowledge us. Place was dirty, garbage was overflowing. The pizza was good, service was terrible.

they didn't put half of the things i ordered on the pizza. not even the red sauce what the heck. really disappointed

they didn't put half of the things i ordered on the pizza. not even the red sauce what the heck. really disappointed. they clearly hate their job and don't give a dang

They make a mean pie, but hella stingy with the toppings. I had to fight to get this pizza to look like this.

A pizza should be made with love and care. I think that MOD should do a better job of training the employees to evenly distribute toppings and adding the proper amount of sauce to a pizza to create the perfect pizza experience. Pizza is a very special delicacy and the perfect amount of toppings creates an amazing dining experience. The problem that I am having with MOD is that this experience isn't consistent and some of the employees are actually preparing the pizza's with bad attitudes which means there isn't love being put into the creation of said pizza. Today I took my family to this location and for the most part the experience was good outside of the young ladies attitude the lack of even distribution of toppings. I understand that they are trying to save money, but they must also understand that the customers experience should be one to remember. I really enjoy the selection of toppings and healthy options, but the consistency must be there from location to location. I have visited the airport location, 122nd location, as well as the downtown location as well. The experiences vary from place to place and overall I tend to be happy with the quality and portions. However, they must do a better job with attitude and distribution of toppings. Pizza is literally one of my favorite foods and truly enjoy amazing pizza. Stark Street, Flying Pie, and Roundtable all do great jobs of consistently making top notch pizza.

Not the pizza we freaking ordered.

Terrible. I'm so tired of this awful service. My husband and I have a running joke of "what did they mess up this time?" Because every single time, something happens. This time we ordered 4 pizzas for pickup and one of them was just clearly from a different order. I my picture is the tag that was stuck on the box, next to it is the pizza we got. It's pathetic the 'service' the people working there are either stoned out of their mind, or insulted to have to even talk to us. Once during a curbside pickup, the girl forgot one pizza, we asked for the other, when she came back she might as well have tossed it into our car. No sorry, or my bad... Just threw the box like a frisbee. We are just so done.

Great price and great deal. Even though it was busy for lunch rush, the wait was not too bad. Service was very good and the pizza came out outstanding. Ordered the 11-inch for $8.67, light sauce, ground beef, olives, pineapple, tomatoes and of course mega cheese! Definitely enough for two meals. The cheese was just oh so good!

New York and Chicago are still trying to catch up. But we are in the Pacific Northwest, nowhere near Loui's Pizza or Buddy's Pizza (Detroit pizza staples). So many times, what tries to pass off as "Detroit style" falls miles short. Then came "Ranch" where I stood outside and screwed up enough courage to try yet another Detroit style pizza. The interior was small, one wall lined with tomato sauce cans, the menu was bolted to a wall. The smell took me back and that gave me some hope. The pizza arrived at the table, the wife and I have varied tastes so we each ordered a quarter pizza. Mine was pepperoni, the wife had a veggie. The pizzas looked right, square, caramelized crispy edges, heavy toppings... and then on the side of the plate was this cup of ranch dressing. Duh! "Ranch" obviously has to have a good ranch, right? I dipped my pinky finger in the ranch and took a taste. You would not think one ranch can be so far ahead of the others, but ranch is the place for ranch, as well as pizza. My first bite brought a smile to my face, it was just, right in every way that a Detroit pie should be. I have been back to try their #4 pie with sausage and ricotta, and I am looking forward to more trips. If all that was not enough, the service was friendly, the food came out so quick (about 10 minutes) and the place was nice and clean.

If you're in or planning to be in Portland, Oregon, I respectfully and enthusiastically recommend you include Pizza Kat in your considered alternatives. A thin, flexible, and tasty-all-by-itself crust. Tomato sauce that adroitly walks the lines between sweet and acidic, and between supporting the other elements well, fading into obscurity, and overwhelming those other elements. The right amounts of the right cheeses. And fresh, tasty toppings. (Sweet Italian sausage not dominated by garlic and mushrooms worth eating on their own, for two delicious examples.) Even better, prices are reasonable, and delivery is available. We had some delivered to our hotel, and it arrived almost as hot and tasty as we would have expected were we at a table near the ovens. There are other pizzas worth eating -- including the thicker-crust "deep cut" slices available before and after select shows at Revolution Hall. Unfortunately, this was both our first and last visit. I don't think I've ever disliked a pizza before, but this may be the first one I would genuinely call bad. I enjoy wood-fired pizza and don't mind a little char, but somehow this pizza tasted noticeably bitter despite having very little visible charring. Whether it was the lack of sauce, the sauce itself being quite bland, or simply an imbalance of flavors, the end result just wasn't pleasant. The biggest issue is the value. A $25 cheese pizza doesn't need to be life-changing, but it should at least taste better than Costco's. In this case, unfortunately, it didn't. If your goal is to enjoy great pizza, I'd recommend one of the many other pizza spots in the area instead.

The cheese and toppings tasted fresh, and I especially appreciated that they offer half slices, which made it easy for my husband and me to try a few different varieties without committing to full slices. That said, I think my expectations may have been a little too high going in. The pizza was definitely good, but I wasn't quite blown away the way I expected to be based on all the hype. For me, the cheese were the weakest part--wasn't bad by any means, but it didn't stand out compared to some of the other pizza spots we've visited around the country.
