After years of being a MOD Pizza customers - going at least once a week until this past year, my tenure as a customer is stopping. When MOD first came to the area they were well organized, friendly to their customers, and the pizzas were all fresh and delicious. Over the years the service has dropped off. They used to be very generous with their toppings, but no so much any more. In the past, they were very attentive to allergies and food sensitivities. I ordered a pizza on a gluten-free crust. The person behind the counter pulled it from the same stack of crusts as the person before me in line. I asked if they were sure it was a gluten-free crust to while they answered "yes." Our first time eating here was tonight and it was a very pleasant dining experience. First of all, the young lady (Olivia) making our pizzas was patient and professional. She changed gloves before she made our pizza, which was very tidy and sanitary. In these post-Covid days cleanliness is a must in restaurants. We chose the ingredients, and she created the pizza with speed and efficiency. The place was well lit and very clean, thanks to the entire staff that kept wiping down the counter tops and tables and sweeping the floor. Great job by all. Came in two hours before closing. Didn't seem busy at all. Looked over the menu when you walk in and just waited up front to get started. Weird beginning because we got no hello or be right there with you. Girl in the back cleaning was just starring and the guy making mobile orders in front of us was just quiet. The girl that worked in the front of your establishment on 9/25 @3:00 placing my order with the crusty eyelashes needs an attitude adjustment. It's people like her that ruin it for the rest of us. I have never been there before and the place was completely empty. There was no amount of customer service. No greeting. No professionalism. This is a fast pizza chain. You can choose a Mod classic or create you own pizza. There is a pizza assembly line that you go down where you select how your pizza is made from the crust up to the toppings. The thin crust pizza bakes for a few minutes then you can choose a sauce to top it all off. I believe there are a couple more pizza chains like this and this maybe the best way to custom make your pizza. My pizza was ready in minutes after ordering. I selected a pesto sauce to accompany the chicken and mushrooms. I took it home and began to critique. I didn't like it. The pizza just did not fulfill my pizza cravings of hunger or taste. The flavors and the sauce just didn't do it for me. The crust was not delicious and I was not left wanting more. I rarely leave reviews, but this experience was too frustrating to ignore. I placed an order with MOD Pizza, including a simple cheese pizza for my kids. What arrived was loaded with random toppings--completely wrong. I called the store, was put on hold for over 7 minutes, then disconnected. When I called back, I was told that she made the pizza herself. After some back and forth, we figured out the orders got mixed up. To fix it? I was offered a free pizza--but only if I went back to the store and bought two more pizzas. How is that a solution when the error was yours and the pizza was supposed to be for my kids at home? To make matters worse, the call ended with her saying "whatever" and hanging up on me. I called back to ask for her name and she yelled "Sabrina" and hung up again. Poop on the floor and all around bad time. When I arrived no employees were anywhere to be found. I stood at the counter for at least 5 min without seeing anybody. Eventually several employees all came out of the back and made my pizza. The employee that made my pizza was friendly and helpful. A different employee was at the register. This employee tried to tell me that they don't sell a combo meal. The sign that says they sell a combo meal was literally hanging above his head. An employee that I assume was the manager had to come and help. I eventually was able to pay for my combo meal. I then went to fill my drink. There were no lids. The manager then sent an employee that was wearing a dish towel like a bandana wrapped around his face to fill the lid dispenser. It's also worth mentioning there were two dirty damp dish rags bunched up on the drink counter. They remained there for the duration of my visit. Now here's where things get pretty poopy. When I went into the bathroom to wash my hands, I quickly realized someone had clogged the urinal with liquid poop, and caused the soupy poop water to flood the bathroom floor. The poop water was seeping under the door and was pooling on the floor in the dining room. When I mentioned all the poop water on the floor, I was told by the manager that it's not poop water. Staff they just put an absurd amount of paper towels on the pooling poop water. And I guess called that good enough The pile of wet poopy towel just sat on the floor for the duration of my stay. MEAL: Dinner ORDER TYPE: Dine-in MY ORDER EXPERIENCE: I heard so much about this pizza place from many friends, so I went ahead and tried it out. As soon as you enter, just to the right side of the entrance there is a line which takes you straight to the counter. As you are waiting in the line there would be a menu board for you to decide the pizza you want and then it takes straight to the counter. For me there were not a lot of people in the queue so mine finished faster. As it was my first time, I was unsure what to get. Then upon reviewing it I finally got Value(s) Meal where I got MOD-size (11") pizza and a 24 oz beverage. I chose this Value Meal because I liked the concept where 50c of my every meal goes to support Best Buddies. NOTE: MOD comes in three sizes Mini (6") MOD (11") Mega (11" thick crust) For my pizza I got Tristan Pesto and Veggie pizza. It comes with mozzarella, asiago, mushrooms, roasted red peppers, pesto drizzle and for beverages I got some diet drink. It took a while, but it was not too late either. I was curious to try it because the pizza is well baked in their special oven. I grabbed my order and tried to sit outdoors but there were limited seats, and it was full. So, I had to sit indoors. I waited enough so I really wanted to have that first bite. OMG the presentation was mouth-watering. When I took the first bite it had its own taste. The pizza was thin, soft, and well baked. It had just the right amount of everything, and the game changer of this pizza was the pesto drizzle. It just took to the next level. I finished the whole thing just in no time. By the time I realized it was gone haha. The spell from Harry Potter "Evanesco (vanish)." Overall, the pizza was good but got little pricey because of the Value Meal, the restaurant was huge and bright. They had a variety of seating options (Highland chairs, booths, outdoor seating). The customer service was good where the waiter at the counter suggested I sign-up into the mobile app for rewards. The location is so busy that sometimes it's difficult to find a parking spot closer to the restaurant. The place is close by and will go back again to try more varieties. Walked in to order take out, the girl behind the counter did not put our name on the order. We finally get our pizzas ordered, go the check out, pay for my food and include a tip. Wait for our food and when you walk over to get your drinks there is trash all over the counter. Then you walk up to the pick up window, one of our pizzas have been sitting there with the lid of the box open with the guy running the oven lifting other food over the top of it. Then I ask for fresh packets of parmesan cheese cause the container was just nasty. He proceeds to use the pizza cutter to open the box, and then put it back in the line up of cutters he was using to cut pizzas. The manager instead of running her crew or cleaning her res was sitting at a table near by talking. I tell her I want a refund. The guy running the oven gets an attitude and says we are kind of busy. Then the manager tries to give me a refund that is not the full amount of what I paid. Avoid this Mods. Go to the one 5 miles away and see the GM Tony, his employees Esteban and Jacob. Their restaurant is clean. No trash laying around. Professional. I have them a compliment and explained what had just happened. Even though he didn't have to and it wasn't expected he apologized for the other location, and gave us 2 drinks. I didn't let him know to get anything free. I wanted him to know how much better his restaurant was. He used my name, and said thank you for the business. He interacted with his employees and was working along side them. I'm a huge fan of places that lets me custom pizza and cook in about 5-10 minutes. You get to have fun picking your own toppings and usually the toppings are unlimited such as at MOD (if it wasn't unlimited then it would not be worth it). You can build your pizza from scratch or you can pick a pre-built pizza. I usually do a combination of both where I would pick a pre-selected pizza and add on extra toppings that I like (usually pineapples and ham, added notions and veggies) I basically create another version of my favorite theme which is BBQ chicken pizza. Service is friendly, you get your own food, drinks and box your own leftovers. Hubby and I can usually get away with spending about $20 for 2 individual sized pizzas and a drink. I've been here about twice and prior to that, we use to love going to Pie 5 which is another version of this. Great place to dine in fast food with the personal customization that leaves you feeling special and proud of your own food creation. read more

Tonight was my last visit to MOD pizza. First, no signs were out to incicate what the toppings were. You have 3 or 4 kinds of sausages, if there are no labels how the heck am I going to know which one to ask for. Having been a long time MOD customer (was at the Deer Park location when it had it's grand opening), I knew that there was a chicken sausage so I was able to ask for that. I had to ask for the sauce to be spread closer to the crust as it was about 4in from the edge. When they were putting on the toppings I asked for them to be spread out closer to the edge of the pizza. The employee said they could not do that as it HAD to be half an inch from the edge. I told him that at this point the toppings are an inch and a half or more from the edge. As I'm watching them press down on all my toppings, essentially smooshing them and heightening the possibility that the center of the pizza would be soggy. My pizza now being placed on the waiting area I was asked if there was anything else I needed. My response was that I wanted my toppings to be spread out more on the pizza. I was given the same excuse about it needing to be half inch from the crust. Yo, that totally makes sense and I agreee with the corporate policy. Problem is, apparently NO employee at this location knew what half an inch looked like. I attempted to point out that from first knuckle to second knuckle is approximately an inch. It very easily could have been re-assessed and spread out properly. See photos for example. Most places were an inch or more, there was only one tiny spot where it was about a half inch and, really it was more like three quarters. My biggest problem here is that instead of taking a moment to stop and really look at and see what I was talking about it felt like I was just another number in line and being dismissed. I have worked in restaurants for 15 years including in the kitchen (I also went to culinary school where 95% of my time was in the kitchen preparing food for guests). Customer service is paramount in the longevity of any business. It's pretty ridiculous that I had to pull out a ruler when I got home. I will absolutely agree with that. However, the ruler doesn't lie and these toppings were miles away from being only a half inch from the edge. In this crazy world I am taking care to spend my money at places that actually value and respect their customers. Too bad that this isn't one of them. read more

Waited over 20 min in line when there was only two other people ahead. Received one pizza then another after 10 min. They handed out our pizza to another customer. The pizza here is solid, and a nice atmosphere but the employees are non shalant and look like they don't want to be there, the garbage can is completely full (also garbage on top of the counter) and most of the tables are always dirty when I've been there. Although the customer service aspect isn't great I do think the good outweighs the bad hopefully the employee put in a little better effort in the future. read more

I've been to Blaze and Pie Five (and you can name a few of the other fast casual make your own pizza spots), but I think MOD Pizza has stolen my heart and taken the number one spot for best of this genre! Yea huh. What makes MOD the best? First off, their crust. The crust holds up a million times better than other places. Load on those ingredients because their sturdy, tasty crust has you covered. Second, those ingredients. All was super fresh, a good variety of options & they didn't skimp on anything. Third, the staff! Everyone was super friendly, super helpful for a bunch of newbies like myself & my coworkers. Fourth, $2 draft beers on Tuesdays! Lagunitas IPA and a Two Brothers lager. Score! Now at MOD, you can make your own pizza (which is what I did) or pick one of their premade combos. You can also choose from a couple different sizes or get a gluten free crust if that's your thing. If you're feeling super healthy, you can forgo the pizza completely and they'll make you a custom salad which is pretty cool! I'm going to try their salad next time I'm in! After assembling your pizza, it goes in their hot oven and takes a few minutes to heat up. It comes out with a crispy crust & you can pick one of a few finishing sauces to add an extra VA VOOM to your pie. While MOD Pizza is nothing amazing or profound in that it fills the "fast food" niche for pizza, what I loved about the one in Schaumburg was the fun and friendly staff, and just having a pizza tailored to me! Our pizzas were perfectly cooked in the brick oven--I honestly have no idea how the gift keeps who's pizzas who's, while he's cooking and rotating pizzas--and our salad was fresh and tasty. It has its own parking lot so there was plenty of parking. The layout is spacious and clean. Modern music playing in the background. You can order classic pizza off the wall menu or build your own pizza! Or you can even add more toppings of your classic pizzas if you'd like! It's like an assembly line like subway lots of choices of cheeses, meats, veggies any toppings all you want for the same price wow what a deal for a thin crust $7.87 of an 11" pizza! You can watch your pizza being baked in their brick fire oven! They make their pizza crust fresh and prepped from 6" to 11" to a double thick crust! The crust is like flatbread crust thin and crispy love it! We got the classic pizza thin but added more topping. I got the "mad dog" with fresh arugula 11" thin so good hot and crispy I love the crust and my topping! You can have "finishing" oils on top of your pizza if you want! Hubby got the jasper pizza, it's spicy sausage and he asked for extra toppings including garlic rub OMG it was amazing!! We also tried their milk shakes which was thick and creamy! They also have salads here too, you can also have a salad pizza which is build your own salad topped on warm Asiago pizza crust! The fountain drink station also had extra pizza boxes if you can't finish your food, and condiments like hot sauce, chili peppers, Italian seasonings, and Parmesan cheese shakers.
