We've been to several locations in the valley and the food is consistently very good. I'd even say the food we had at this location was one of the best- accurate, warm, and tasty! The service is usually a little slow or sometimes there's a wait to be helped, even with online orders, especially when it's busy. We'll still go back, though, and the gluten free crust is really good! read more

Please don't judge MOD Pizza off this location. Not all MODs have the same level of customer service. The one in Tempe Marketplace... asked about allergies and dietary restrictions before starting our pie, voluntarily changed gloves when I said I was vegan, sought out ingredients that were fresher and hadn't been exposed to meat or cheese and used clean pizza cutters to avoid contamination. Go to the MOD in Tempe Marketplace for this experience. Our experience at this MOD Pizza was the exact opposite. If you're kosher, vegan, or vegetarian- expect an attitude from the staff if you request them to make any of the accommodations above. Dairy cheese was floating in the marinara. I mentioned this to the preparer... his question, "Would you like me to fish some sauce out that doesn't have cheese?" Definitely an allergy nightmare. What's worse is that Autumn knew we were vegan and still cut our pizzas with the same cutter used on a pizza with pepperoni and cheese. This location wasn't busy. Only one other guest in line before us. No rush. No stress- but tons of reluctance and attitude. So- if you have no dietary restrictions- give this place a try. This location used to be on our "go to" location for great pizza and salads with fast friendly service. I'm not sure what is going on recently, but I strongly suggest the GM spend some time here to see if they can return to a well run restaurant. A week ago we dropped in on a Sunday evening. There were four couples ahead of us in line. Even though there was a full crew on staff, there was only one person making the pizzas. There was a young woman next to him who must have been charged with making the online orders. She moved with the speed of the sloths at the DMV office in Zootopia. She could have clearly helped her teammate out with the in store orders but she made no eye contact and found other things to do rather than help out. I saw two couples get out of line and leave in frustration with the slow and inattentive service. We also left and decided to eat elsewhere. We stopped by again today and unfortunately got equally poor service. This time, the girl who made our order was rude and abrupt which is really unusual in our past experience. She clearly seemed to be upset with having to deal with a customers order. Maybe she was having a bad day. The salads were swimming in dressing and the pizzas poorly prepared. I really am pleading that management review this location. We have eaten at Mod all over the southwest and even in its original locations in Seattle. It is a great concept and we are used to getting great service and food. This location is clearly struggling. read more

I will admit, I like to do things myself. When I come to MOD, I know I'm not the only one who wants to switch positions with the person behind the counter putting together the pizza, but it's hard for me to resist!!! I'm picky so I know they are used to dealing with folks like me, but hey... I like my pizza a certain way!! For just about every item, I kept saying... "more please"... More sauce... more cheese... more sausage... more oregano, more.... you get the point. Granted, I know that they have to be conscious of what you're putting on an actual pizza. I know, it's not Burger Kings have it your way, but it's pretty close. The brick oven pizza is great but if you're not familiar it gets cold quick. This time around I went with the cauliflower crust and it's much bigger than the normal MOD size. Once the pizza came out of the even, I was ready to attack it!! But I had to wait as other orders were being prepared in the oven and others sat... That's the only thing I didn't like. My pizza got cold super quick... By the time I was halfway through my pizza, cold!!! Disappointed as we all put in a lot of work to get the right pizza setup for me. I wish they would add more chairs inside as, during this time of the year, the outdoor patio area is not ideal (unless they have a firepit). Another plus... Three stars only because of the experience. Their pizzas are great, with lots of fresh veggies. We love creating our own as opposed to their menu options. The other thing we LOVE about Mod is their no-name cakes. They are ramped up Ding Dongs and just so yummy! Our visit this time had some concerns around the staff and overall cleanliness of the store. We were met by a young man with flat affect and we proceeded to tell him what we wanted on our pizzas, he never once smiled or responded to our our casual conversation starters. Neither did the other people...it was like they were just going through the motions. We also noticed several dirty tables and over flowing trash. So, I opted for delivery to home after having such a fantastic lunch from the Mesa location. I'm a bit sorry I chose this location, for a second try. For the most part. I docked a star because I find it ridiculous they did NOT cut my "customized" pizza. Why did you opt to cut the Caspian, but not the second?? It was rather disappointing we had to stop the movie & cut the second pizza because someone paid to do so got lazy. Was the food good? Yes! Minus the fact the customized pizza looked like it was a total bother & everything was thrown carelessly on top (and not cut). I have a bone to pick with this location: you managed to add a customized ingredient to one standard pizza- and then entirely dropped the ball on the second, which was fully made to order- the ENTIRE "motto" behind this establishment! I'm less than impressed. Next time, I will opt to show up in person. Because what I ordered was not worth the inflated price I paid. I understand you can get away with charging $10 (after tax) for a personal pizza & claim it's a good deal because you can add anything on with no extra charge- but that went out the window when it's done like slop & not even cut! Fast chain pizza joint that competes well with the others. You order at counter and go through line selecting all your extra toppings, Chipotle-style. You can order from their classic artisan-style pizzas or to a more customized one. Either way, the biggest perk is that 'all your selected toppings are included' in their set price. Same goes for their salad. So load it up, I did not take advantage of this until I notice our group had some bountiful pizza toppings. Although I really enjoyed my classic pizza which was 1/2 'Mad Dog' (mozzarella, pepperoni, sausage, beef) and half 'Jasper': (mozzarella, mushroom, spicy chicken), it felt underdressed in comparison :( Good reason to come back and dress up my pie:) and they serve wine and beer too! read more

Queue Taylor Swift! She wears short skirts, I eat pizza. She's cheer captain and I'm still eating pizza! *ahem* So MOD Pizza seems to be everybody's sweetheart so I wanted to give this place a go! Not bad, MOD, not bad. The crust is thin and crispy and the toppings are delish. The workers still seem to be new and some of those pizza artists had to peek at the sign to see what goes on each pizza. I got a half-and-half on tonight's pie --- half Caspian and half "Squad Fave," Valencia. I tweaked a bit on my Caspian and added some pepperoni and pineapples because I'm just the kinda gal that enjoys pineapples! It was great. I washed my pie down with their caramelized pear iced tea --- refreshing and not too sweet! Since this place is still new, everything is nice and clean. There was a non-stop line the whole time we dined in so they must be doing something right. With a lot of dining options nearby in this excellent strip plaza, this is the pizza joint of choice. While I'm not willing to replace my other pizza-made-my-way hot spot with MOD, this place is closer to home. read more

If you like thin crust individual sized pizza, this is your place! I had been to Fired Pie recently, and I enjoyed my pizza here more at MOD Pizza. The toppings here tasted better with an adequate level of seasoning, I liked the crust more, and ordering was easier from MOD. I also like how you have a choice of three different crust sizes depending on how hungry you are. I ended up with a small sized Dillon James with added mushrooms, artichoke, and black olive. The toppings were plentiful but the crust still stood up to them vs. getting soggy due to the liquid content. My small pie was around $5, and soda fountain drinks a little less than $2. In addition to Coke products they have 2 different lemonades and 2 different iced teas available. I'll be back to try more custom pizza creations! read more

PIZZAAAA!!! MOD definitely does it right. Do-it-yourself pizza (or tried and tested recipes, if you so wish) in three sizes, Mini (a little bigger than your open hand), Mod (11 inches, I think?), and Mega Mod (a double stacked Mod). Throw anything and everything you want on it, or even do half and half (I recommend this) for a flat price of $4ish, $7ish, and $11ish for the three sizes, respectively. The toppings are definitely varied and since I'm one of those weirdos who likes to throw the oddest things on my pizza, they definitely catered for that. I had roasted brussel sprouts on my pizza, I rest my case. They had sun dried tomatoes too, not so much a weird choice but a personal favorite of mine. Definitely a lot of your regular toppings like sausages, pepperoni, chicken, chorizo, peppers, onions, and a couple of interesting ones like roasted garlic which I've never had on a pizza but will definitely have again - I'll promise to keep my distance so you don't smell my breath after! I thought their pineapple looked a little too yellow but it might have just been the lighting. And to top it off the staff were great! Some of them were definitely new and still learning the ropes, but super, super friendly and always willing to give you suggestions and their advice so don't be afraid to ask! I love the decor and the patio but it's still a little warm for that right now... Unfortunately, there weren't too many seats indoors as they were mainly bigger tables and bars, so definitely good for big groups. MOD Pizza was the first quick-bake joint that I tried out about a year ago. Since it's located so far from my home, I haven't returned to it. So, when visiting Phoenix for my kids debate tournament, I jumped on stopping into this store since it has been so long from my last visit. Like the the first MOD I ate at before, this location is large and spacious. You enter to a line section that routes you to the counter where your pizza will be constructed. I had a large order of six pizzas with some tricky, um, mods. Two were gluten-free requests with one of them requiring dairy-free cheese. The other four were somewhat complicated and except one getting onions instead of olives they were made properly. The nice thing about the way they handled the large order was how they wrote it down for each pizza which sped the process right up. In fact, the pizzas were cooked and boxed all within five minutes of my order! What I love about MOD Pizza is the amount of options they have. Even when they don't have something like spicy pizza sauce, they improvise and squirt in some Buffalo Sauce and mix it in. It did the trick and was delicious. The variety of meat and vegetables is wonderful and is sure to excite most while building their pizza. Overall, the entire experience was good. My only complaint was the pizza crust was soggy. I'm not sure why that was but everything else was very good. Personally, I like Blast Pizza better but you won't be disappointed by this MOD Pizza at all. Want to try the Sven MOD? Their portion sizes are also not too big (unlike many restaurants which gets you fat) or small. I thought the ingredients were fresh and lots of friendly staff. Let me preface this: I really like MOD, I visit the one near my home once every 1-2 weeks. The options are great and I love the lemon honey dressing. Also, their lemonade is really good. This visit is the first to this location. The staff was underwhelming but I don't usually take issue and I was there pretty early. I did ask for tomatoes and these ones did look old, maybe not the best choice. When I took it to go and began mixing it up at work, I had two gnats emerge from inside. Maybe this makes me picky, but if something is causing gnats to come out of the salad I suddenly don't want to eat it anymore. read more

Mod is open really late so that is an amazing opportunity to come get your pizza on and load on all the toppings. They're open till 11 PM which is later than most places. I come here and I get the vegetarian pizza which includes a combination of white sauce, pesto sauce, most of all the vegetables. My coworker ordered, and when we pick our pizza. There seemed to a mixed up with pizzas. I thought ours was checked but when we got back to work. Both were wrong. We had to go back to get our correct order. And the little girl helping us looked through each pizza like we did something to them but they were both wrong. Then she got Nasty with my co-worker about how the pizza she got was close enough. I ended up getting a pizza that someone else left with and brought back.
