We had been using this company for many years with outstanding service. We bought a new home and used the developers installing company for the first two services. Not only was the work not done the service tech lied directly to my questions. No more of that game. I called modern air again and Jeannie ( spelling?) did her usual superb job and set us up with the same plan we had in prior years. The first service was by Ken Everts and his helper ( I apologize that I do not know his name). ALL of the system was inspected and as I suspected there were items that needed much attention. ken and his assistant spent at least one hour correcting everything that needed attention. The system is only 2 1/2 years old but they found items that were VERY neglected but charged for by the builders shoemakers. I consider the cost of doing business with Modern Air to be a bargain. These techs are knowledgeable, polite, do the job in a workmanlike manner and are a definite asset to the company. The air conditioner at our warehouse suddenly stopped blowing cold air so I did an extensive amount of research on what could have caused it and came up with a few diagnostics. I had 3 companies come out to check out our unit and all 3 had different diagnosis with the most astronomical quotes including one company saying I needed an entire unit! I was ready to throw in the towel when a friend mentioned Modern Air & Refrigeration. After one call to their office I had a tech out in less than an hour and sure enough it was somewhat simple fix and they had us up and running the very next day at a fraction of the cost I was expecting to pay. Apparently, Yelp took down all of Modern Air's good reviews and left only the bad reviews up in an attempt to get Modern Air to pay them money to boost their yelp ratings. I have known the owner of Modern Air, Brett Allred through business contacts and business groups. In my opinion, he is as honest as the day is long (which might not be true for this website). Be aware of things like this. I have no idea what anyone means by "the owner was scary". Brett is a very mild mannered person, not scary at all. Perhaps these reviews were for a different company. We use Modern Air for our business locations and our home. They are very responsive and thorough. We just had our semi-annual maintenance on our AC at our home. Dylan was on time, very professional and did a wonderful job. Just a couple of months ago our AC went out and they responded the same day even though it was late on a Friday afternoon. They were able to get our AC back up and running before we came home from vacation the next day to a hot and humid house. I was expecting mediocre service from another one of a million service companies in west Florida . I was pleasantly surprised when the service technician showed up when they said he would. He quickly repaired the downstairs ac. He had the part on his truck and did the job right then. He said I should think about replacing the unit but it is doing well for it's age. We had general maintenance service for out home last week by Tyler of Modern Air. I can't begin to tell you how impressed we were with this young man. He took apart and cleaned things that I've never seen anybody do in the past. He must have spent a couple hours making sure everything was healthy and changing the filter. We had high efficiency air filter boxes fitted to our three air handlers in our office in bradenton, Leo and Chris worked on one unit at a time in order to keep the others running and my office cool, which worked wonderfully. John thoroughly clean the unit's interior system and alerted me to a potential future problem with the exterior compressor's location. That prevented a costly repair! OMG. My a/c stopped working in my home in Sarasota. Since I was stuck in Chicago when this happened Jeannie worked with me and got Dylan to come out in 1 day! Just a a capacitor...thank god!
