Finding Modern Barber after work literally made my day. Fantastic service from start to finish. My co-worker recommended this place at lunch. I called in at 5:00 PM to book an appointment. Paul answered the phone and told me to just come in at 6:00 PM. I arrived at 6:05 PM and was immediately seated. After introducing himself, Paul asked me what kind of haircut I wanted. I showed him a few pictures on my phone and he got to work right away. Friendly and talkative, but 110% focused on detail. He probably spent at least 30 minutes on my gentleman's cut with a hard part and a fade. Probably the cleanest haircut I've ever gotten...no joke. Prices are absolutely reasonable. Men's cuts range from $15-25 depending on style, shampoo, etc. The interior is dope. Wide, comfortable couches to lounge on. Large HD TV's. Plenty of magazines. Good music. Extremely happy with my 1st experience here; Nancy gave me my cut. Very happy with the results - I gave her minimal direction, and let her cut how she felt would look good on me. My hair definitely needs volume, and I have a big round head :) Will be coming back since the price is good, the quality is solid, and its near by my place. Just got my first haircut at Modern Barber from "Nancy" and had a great time. Took my input from previous pictures, answered all my questions about sheer sizes and adjusted the haircut as it went along. She made sure I was very comfortable throughout my time and even had a scented water spray for finer cuts and towel wash after. She did a great job and I was very happy with my haircut. Only $15 for the amount she spent on making sure I was happy with what she was doing! I tipped $5 since she answered all my questions happily and made me feel comfortable for my first time. Ok I love these guys! I bring my three boys (8,11,12) in to Paul or Helen and they do the most stylish cuts. My boys have come from silently excepting yucky haircuts so feeling comfortable talking about what they had in mind and voicing if they want something a little shorter etc. They are so kind, want you to happy and do FANTASTIC work! They deserve an awesome review from us but I selfishly hesitated because I don't want them to get busier. Nice ambience, clean facility, with friendly barbers. I've only had the pleasure of receiving a cut from two of their staff, but both did great work. I don't want to share their name because then all would book with my favorite and wouldn't have time for me. They may be a few bucks on the pricey side if just going in for a quick trim, but worth the price compared to other local barbers, if getting a full cut with any type of minor styling. read more

So just some quick thoughts i bealive Paul the owner is skilled but thats about at much skill youd probobly find . I came here three times first time i hot a haircut from one of his employees they messed up my hair . Didng come back for about 4 months but since its close to my house i decided to try them again ... seconed time my haircut was by one of his other employees seemed like she was still learning she was doing okay .. although paul had to fix some of her messups ... well the charge for both of these times separately was $23 btw i can get a clean shave and cut in santa ana for that price and they actually know what a mid fade is lol well when i tell them skin fade the do a skin fade lol so today wss the third time i went in for a beard clean up lol so it was $13 dollars for a trim with just the cutting machine with some crooked ass lines and not even clean shaven lol i just walk out so again the Guy paul seems skilled but dint get a cut by his employees just cane home fixed my mess lol read more

You got to love Paul. He is fast. Efficient. Gets the job done. Let him do his thing. The price is great but be sure to leave them a generous tip. I called to make an appointment which was easy and quick. The parking can get dicey since there is a laundry mat in the same plaza but for the most part you can find parking. Walking in the space is open and clean. It's not hot. Nicely ventilated. Paul will get you going in no time. The only thing is it doesn't automatically come with shampoo. That cost extra. I came in and asked for a low 0 skin fade the barber replied with "okay" next thing you know my long curly hair is now short and straight and my fade isn't even a fade, then proceeded to talk to the Manger as he tried to fix the situation bit even he was knowing of how bad the hair cut actually was and started laughing at his own barbers work. read more

I've been coming here since 2015 when a friend of mine recommended me this place. But I have to say that I got a little iffy coming back because my previous haircuts were not the best in my opinion. However, I believe his name was Tom or Tommy but he did my hair some justice. Like he fixed up it from my previous haircut style, and gave me lots of advice about my hair. One of the fastest haircuts I've had. My hair looks like it should have taken much longer to cut. Initially, I was worried there might be a language barrier and my hair was going to end up butchered, but Helen understood everything I wanted. So far, when I say, "just enough on top to do something with," Helen is the only one to find that perfect length that I've envisioned. She is also very meticulous in finding every stray hair and making sure every cut is symmetrical. I walked in with no appointment around 1:30 Saturday and had a chair within two minutes. Well, after 15 or so years of having the same asian fade with spiky hair, I figured it was time for a change. I was almost ready to shell out $40 on a high end haircut when I scored on finding Modern Barber on Yelp. Went in on a Saturday afternoon expecting to wait but luckily Paul was able to seat me right away. He asked me how I wanted it cut and my response was something like "I was hoping you could help me out with that. I want something clean cut and professional." Paul took a moment to look at me and suggested a comb over. I told him to do whatever he thought best and away he went. The man is an artist with clippers and a pair of scissors. It was the most clean, detailed cut that I have ever had and it only set me back $15 + tip. Afterwards he taught me how to style it then offered me some coffee or tea which I politely declined. I walked out of there looking and feeling like a million bucks. My new hairstyle has actually turned me in to quite a narcissist. Sucks, I called to change my appointment time they said Thuy isn't working their anymore but I emailed her and she said she could still keep my appointment with her. So I decided to try a new place out, since I haven't been to many salons and barbers in the area. I came in on a Saturday early afternoon, and was seen right away. Gentleman by the name of Lee greeted me and gave a nice haircut. Very friendly and had a nice chat. The cut was clean, and exactly what I asked. Overall a great haircut, the only thing I could suggest is to use more water on the hair when cutting with scissors. Since my hair wasn't wet enough, lots of dry hairs ended up on my face and clothes. But still a good haircut. The business is located inside a plaza, with ample parking and it seems relatively new. Clean space and the salon chairs here were very comfy! Just as another note, there's a sign at the front desk that states "cash preferred" but they do accept credit cards. I'd say definitely check this place out if you're nearby and need a quick haircut. read more

This review is for my dad, who has the highest standards of anyone I've ever met, ever. We got a mailer flyer from this salon and my dad had had enough of his current barbershop (poor customer service, expensive, unclean, etc.) He needed a haircut and we remembered the flyer. He went on a Wednesday but they were closed. However from what he could see from peeking through the window was enough to make him wait until the weekend to go back. When he came back from his haircut he couldn't stop raving about Paul and the great cut and service he experienced. The place is super clean, brand new looking. He was greeted warmly and enthusiastically by Paul, the owner. He listened carefully to my dad and what kind of cut he wanted. He washed his hair, didn't let him sit there dripping in water like other places do. Just super attentive and very clean. Great great service for amazing value. My dad can't wait to go back! He's raved so much about it that I'm planning on going to get my own hair cut, and my sisters as well. I'll let you all know how that goes. :) read more

This is a great place to get a haircut. I never knew how bad my previous haircuts at other places were until I came here. Angela transformed me into a B-list movie star. She puts a lot of work into the cut and it is only $15-17 for a cut, which is great. Most places charge more and don't even spend half the amount of time/effort on cutting your hair. My girlfriend saw my cut and now she wouldn't let me out of the house because she's afraid other girls would hit on me. I'm actually writing this review from my basement. I guess that's one con of coming here... Whatever. I'll still come back here every three weeks for my cuts. read more

While I did get my hair cut here once by Paul and he did a fantastic job...this review is really for their men's haircuts. Everytime they cut my fiancee's hair, I was amazed at how clean and trendy the cut and style was...and for less than $20 including tip. FYI a woman's cut was $45. He isn't the type to be too picky about telling stylists what to do, which can be challenging for some stylists, but with minimal effort they were able to give him a cut that really suited him. Why go to one of those pretentious "men's salons" and pay $30 for a cut that's equal if not better than here. In addition, everyone's really nice, quick, and not too talkative (which I find preferable). The place is really clean with a modern decor, they do take walk-ins and don't ever seem to be crazy busy (which is really surprising). The icing on the cake is it's in the same plaza as Orange Roll Sushi. read more

I'm new to SoCal, only been here for about 6 months and it's not easy to find a new barber. Well, I think I finally have. I was helped by Max and he was awesome. He is very personable and polite. I told him what I wanted in a cut and just to be safe, he left it a little long to see if I was happy with it or wanted to go shorter, I confirmed that I wanted it shorter but appreciated that he made sure that I knew what I wanted. He took his time and made sure I was happy with his work throughout. I told him that I wanted to leave my hair long on top and to only take a little off, he understood and jokingly said that he would cut so little that he would pretend to cut the hair! Lol. I am VERY impressed. This is a great establishment, everyone was happy, polite, and smiled. I loved everything about it. I will be back and be going to Max! Thank you! **Update** I still love the shop. The two guys do a great job, they listen and pay attention to what you want. I just had my haircut today (8/17/2017) by in of the girls and she didn't do what I wanted. I explained more than once how I wanted it, a half on the sides with a nice even, professional fade. What does she do, she shaves it all the way up practically with little to no fade! She asks if I liked it and I said no because it's not what I wanted, she replies..."yes it is".
