Came here based on a coworker's recommendation. It's a little out of the way but I heard great things. Paul did not disappoint. Walked in at 5pm and Paul actually fit me in before a 5:30 appointment. You can really tell that he takes pride in his work. I've got really stubborn hair and Paul gave my hair a good combing to see where my cowlicks were growing. Overall, I'd recommend this place if you're in the area. However, I don't see myself returning because although he had to cut it short (sweet pun, bro) to make time for his appointment, I feel like he rushed through the cut and I notice a lot of jagged edges and uneven lines when I got home. I'm new to SoCal, only been here for about 6 months and it's not easy to find a new barber. Well, I think I finally have. I was helped by Max and he was awesome. He is very personable and polite. I told him what I wanted in a cut and just to be safe, he left it a little long to see if I was happy with it or wanted to go shorter, I confirmed that I wanted it shorter but appreciated that he made sure that I knew what I wanted. He took his time and made sure I was happy with his work throughout. I told him that I wanted to leave my hair long on top and to only take a little off, he understood and jokingly said that he would cut so little that he would pretend to cut the hair! Lol. I am VERY impressed. This is a great establishment, everyone was happy, polite, and smiled. I loved everything about it. I will be back and be going to Max! I just had my haircut today (8/17/2017) by in of the girls and she didn't do what I wanted. I explained more than once how I wanted it, a half on the sides with a nice even, professional fade. What does she do, she shaves it all the way up practically with little to no fade! She asks if I liked it and I said no because it's not what I wanted, she replies..."yes it is". I have found my new place to cut my hair in Tustin. I just recently moved to the area and it is very convenient that it is a block away from where I live. I got my hair cut with Paul and he does a great job. He is very precise and will always ask to get my hair cut with him. Ive been coming to modern barber for the past three months since he opened. Paul (the owner) has cut my hair 4 times since and I couldn't be happier. My old barber in Michigan cut my hair for almost 10 years and so looking for a new barber can be very difficult. Ive tried around 10 different barber shops in my area and none cut my hair like paul did. Hes very precise and takes his time to make sure it's perfect. He even suggested a new style for me and I love it! The shop is nice and clean and he also has free coffee and tea along with comfy sofas while you wait. First time checking this place out. I was greeted upon my entry by Paul who ended up being the person cutting my hair. I used the restroom which was clean and orderly. I was then ready for the cut. I ended up getting a regular cut, beard trim, and shampoo. The cut was good and Paul listened to my request and guidance before jumping right in. The beard trim was solid and once again he listened and took direction throughout the process. The shampoo/scalp massage was good and I believe Tea Tree was used.
