I had my heater go out overnight Saturday into (SuperBowl)Sunday. I texted Weather Control at 4AM when I found the problem and had a text back by 6AM. Dan was able to come out and troubleshoot a tricky problem. Weekend rates applied (still very reasonable!) and then needed get parts from a supply house which is nearly impossible on a Sunday - however he was able to get it done! Unfortunately a different up stream part had failed in a way it was impossible to troubleshoot. After identifying the issue we decided to complete the work Monday during normal hours. Dan arrived onsite Monday when agreed upon and installed the replacement for the failed part. My house is now warming up nicely! It's such a relief having heat again! read more

My air conditioner condensation line froze. It was literally covered in ice. I am one to try to fix as many things as I can before having to call a professional. I did my research prior to calling anyone and learned the causes of a frozen condensation line - dirty furnace filter, obstructed vents, and low Freon. I addressed the issues I could to no avail. The fix was beyond what I could do. I called a few different HVAC companies. The representative I spoke with at Weather Control told me the reasons that a condensation line could freeze; many of the causes I had researched. I felt it was professional of them to offer solutions that would have saved me the fee of a service call. Unfortunately, I had already exhausted the suggestions I could personally address. I ultimately asked Weather Control to look at my air conditioner. They worked around my schedule and were prompt. Dan was professional. He inspected my system and determined that my Freon was low. He said that I most likely had a hole and gave me different options to correct it. My air conditioner and furnace are over 25 years old so I knew the day was coming when I'd have to replace them. We agreed to fill the A/C and wait to see how long it remained charged; I'm hoping the hole is so small I won't need to have it serviced again for 3+ years. Dan told me that was unlikely. :( In doing my research beforehand, I had an idea of the hourly rates of different HVAC companies and what the cost of Freon would be. When I called them they said they got backed up and they needed to reschedule for some other time. Called Dan on a Sunday after i put a hole in my condenser coil trying to mount a humidifier. He was very helpful on the phone explaining that it was not an emergency that i had done that. Came to take a look at my furnace promptly, and emailed his pricing shortly after. I had him install a new coil and replace our 20+ year old furnace with a new 2 stage unit. I will defiantly call him back in the fall to install a humidifier on my new furnace and for any other problems i have in the future. I paid for one of those $79 groupons for an air duct cleaning through another company (I don't even remember the name), and they tried to nickle and dime me on nearly everything to bring my bill up to $800. I declined any additional services, got my $79 cleaning, and got some recommendations from family members and friends to find out if any of these services were actually needed. Dan came out to my home the next day, cleaned my furnace coils, recommended the very few things on the list that I should actually get done, and within what time frame (Months, years, etc.). I live all the way out in Wheaton so I'm not necessarily close to Des Plaines, and he was still able to fit me in and didn't say anything about the drive. I read all of the reviews first before I called Weather Control, can't be to safe these days. I left a message around 10pm on Tuesday night, to my surprise Dan called me back within 15 minutes. We spoke about the issue at hand with my furnace. I felt it was better to wait until the next day and be the first appointment. He called me first thing in the morning, (6:30am) & was at my house by 8:00-8:15am. Looked over the furnace and told me what was wrong with it. To my surprise it wasn't that bad and it wasn't going to cost a arm & leg to fix either. I do have to maintain the furnace (which I have not done), but he did go over things just to make sure that I was aware and understood what he was telling me. I am happy to say that I was plesently surprised with such a knowledgable and professional guy.
