My wife and I got married in late April 2022 and had a great experience working with Summer at Modern Elopement! Planning a wedding is never easy - you're often making various important decisions for the first (and hopefully last!) time. Super stressful! I felt that Modern Elopement struck the perfect balance between dealing with any minutia that we didn't care to worry about, but had enough customizability to let us make our special day our own. We held our wedding at the Deck at the Queen Kapiolani Hotel, which was a beautiful and practical venue right in Waikiki. Summer did an excellent job as our coordinator. Everything from the decorations, to the music, food, bookings, styling, etc were perfect! We couldn't have possibly imagined a better wedding at our favorite place on Earth. If we ever get divorced we both know who to go to for our second weddings!

Order confirmation that wasn't confirmed at all.

My experience with Modern Elopement was terrible! I hired them to help with my daughter's wedding on Kauai. When I first spoke to Morgan, the owner, she was very nice and made it sound like things would be easy. I wish I had never hired them. I could have done it myself for far less money and frustration. Biggest complaints: Bait and switch on prices. Poor communication. Ineptitude with contacts. It felt like there was a lot of bait and switch. They have a "package" with certain things included. Then there is an "embellishment boutique" that you can shop. There are pictures and a price. After we picked out what we wanted in the boutique, we actually got an order confirmation (see picture attached). But when it was time to pay, there was a different price. When we complained, they said the price in the boutique was just an estimate. The fine print in the contract does say "price estimates," but neither talking to them nor the boutique site makes that clear. For example, the "order confirmation" lists the wedding cake at $250.00, but then they said that, after talking to the bakery, it would be $530.00. The harpist is listed at $260.00 in the boutique, but they charged us $628.00. And she was terrible. She sounded like an amateur, playing one note at a time. For that much money, we expected her to play beautifully. It was just one of many disappointments. There was poor communication with the "Lead Wedding Concierge." She often took several days to get back to me. When I complained, Morgan said they tried to get back within 24 hours. It was rarely that soon. And several times, the concierge didn't get back to me at all until I asked again. Very frustrating. They said they could help with the dinner after the wedding. They have "Dinner Options" books with specific restaurants and menus with prices, for example, "menu option 1, $120/per person." It seemed pretty straightforward. So, we chose a restaurant and a menu option. For weeks, I kept getting the run around. They said they had put in a lot of calls but hadn't heard back from the restaurant. This place didn't take big groups. That place wasn't available. If there was anything available, it was 2-3 times more expensive than what was in their dinner options or what they had said in a call. We still did not have a place for dinner two weeks before the wedding! I scrambled around myself and finally found something, which I wish I had done in the first place. I could go on and on. Basically, I could have made an extra trip to Kauai and organized everything myself, and it would have saved me money, time, and grief. Very unhappy with Modern Elopement!

We wanted something small and intimate for our wedding and ME delivered. The first call with Morgan was a delight, she answered all of my questions and the process was smooth. We got our contact and read through it. Everything was explained perfectly so make sure you read the whole thing peeps! We paid the first payment and off we went on planning our wedding. The forms were easy and straightforward. After submitting our venue/flower requests, we went on to planning the dinner. At this time emails between our concierge were a bit lacking and she took a bit to reply (more than a day, sometimes two). I would've appreciated updates from her like "I'll be working on this and I'll get back to you next week" and actually get back to me or say something like "I'm sorry I was prioritizing another client I'll be with you shortly" besides not replying. But after a bit, we got our planner Lynsey and everything was perfect, communication, planning and execution before, during, and after. She was joined by Kat on the day of and they both are the sweetest, and detailed persons. Our day was perfect and I wouldn't have changed anything. Dinner at Roy's Ko Olina was fab, everyone loved it. We can't wait to get our professional pics back, we know it'll be amazing. And my make up the day of by Cherbu?! FLAWLESS. SO ANY COMPLIMENTS on it and she was a doll. Everyone we worked with was amazing and so kind. I'm so glad we chose ME for a stress free and easy event. We went a little over budget, mostly for the dinner and flowers but it was worth it, worth it all!

I absolutely could not recommend Modern Elopement enough!! Our wedding day and the planning was completely stress free and beautiful. Jennifer was our initial contact through all the planning and process, and was a delight to work with. She was so nice to speak to and really helped me trust that the end result would be what I was looking for. I didn't see anything til day of since I planned our wedding from NM and it was in Hawaii. And I can honestly say they went above and beyond what I imagined! Day-of the wedding we met Jade who was cool, calm, and collected. This helped any stress I might have had. She walked me through what the entire day would look like down to every cue. Her calmness was contagious. But most of all the team made sure every detail and moment was for my husband and I. They were determined to make every second a perfect for us, even greeting us with drinks after we walked down the aisle. I have been to many weddings and seen many friends deal with difficult planners and venues. Modern Elopement has streamlined this process perfectly and given so much room at the same time to incorporate all the details you want. Just based on the amazing team I worked with I would choose them time and time again. They even surprised me with with golden arc that I wanted! From the hair stylist, makeup artist, photographer, officiant, and musician, everyone they have chosen to work alongside is so professional and masters at their skill. I enjoyed working with everyone I did and was so happy they could be a part of our big day.

Modern Elopement made our special day stress free and intimate - exactly what we wanted, especially in light of the ever changing COVID precautions. We spent an hour or so planning/providing feedback and Nicole took care of the rest, including everything from car service, to assisting us with our marriage license, to ensuring we had the best photographer. With the logistics arranged, we were able to cherish the moment with each other. Highly recommend!

Working with Modern Elopement on our wedding day was a dream come true. We have two families to bring together, one from Vancouver, BC and one from Brisbane and all the logistics of sorting out the perfect wedding and not being able to be in Hawaii for the planning stages was well over our heads. We are so thankful to have found ME and to work with Kayleigh who put our minds at ease to the entire process. She is an absolute professional and thinks of everything down to the tiniest detail which made our big day absolutely stunning, and stress free. Her positive and organized attitude is all you could ever ask for to coordinate your big day. Our guests still remark at how she kept the ceremonies flowing and no one wondered if they were out of place. ME helped with everything from the location, transportation, guest wrangling and even the favors. The silliest questions only a bride would think of were always answered and we never felt like we didn't know what was going on. We honestly can't say enough about ME and encourage any couple planning a wedding in Hawaii to reach out to them!

Our first decision when it came to our wedding was 0 stress, we wanted to enjoy the process of being an engaged couple planning our big day, our second was to go with Modern Elopement after that everything became so much easier! Summer from Modern Elopement went above and beyond to make all of our WANTS and NEEDS and everything in between possible. Before them a wedding in hawaii felt impossible, we were in California and I was too big of a stress ball to even try planning this on my own. From the planning to the day of to after the wedding Summer had made us a part and aware of everything: I can't thank her and the team enough for the day going so smoothly even when there was still some hiccups out of everyone's control! Id go with Modern Elopement in an instant, Best and easiest decision we made!

Louise is the perfect blend of professional, intentional, warm, and reassuring--everything you could ever hope for in a wedding planner. Louise not only guided us through a smooth, stress-free planning process with easy, consistent communication, but she also created the most incredible florals and overall wedding design. Our floral arrangements were absolutely breathtaking--regal, romantic, and so magical that it truly felt like stepping into a fairytale. She did an exceptional job using her creativity to showcase our personal style in every detail, and her design recommendations fit our personalities, and our vision so perfectly. She brought everything together so cohesively that the entire day felt beautifully curated and deeply personal. When we had to unexpectedly change venues just a couple of months before the wedding, Louise handled the transition with such calm confidence, and care that we weren't even worried. From the start we already knew we were in the best hands, and Louise proved it once again by making the transition to a new venue totally seamless and helping us secure new vendors who were a perfect fit for our new space. Front start to finish, it was the most amazing experience. The coordination was flawless and the service was top notch. We didn't get to meet our officiant Ellsworth until the day. The photographer and videographer made us feel so comfortable! The flowers were fresh and made beautifully. The hula dancer was gorgeous and the musician was wonderful. My hair and make up artist understood the assignment and they both made me look flawless! Our photographer Carson took over 200 photos and made us feel so special! Our highlight video and ceremony video were awesome. I recommend this company to anyone who wants to get married in Hawaii as they have the wedding planning down to a science. They have something in everyone's budget I loved that they took away the hassle of booking everything separately especially since we didn't live there! Thanks everyone!

Unfortunately, our experience with Weddings of Hawaii was very disappointing, especially when it…read morecame to the photography. From the beginning, communication was confusing and at times conflicting. Information seemed to change depending on who we spoke with. I think having one person assigned to each couple, or even a profile documenting each couple's questions, concerns, and meaningful details, would help make the experience much more personal and prevent important things from being missed. For example, we were originally told we could use our own photographer and videographer. We carefully researched and chose vendors we loved and paid deposits for both, only to find out very close to our wedding date that outside vendors weren't allowed and we had to use their "approved vendors." We then paid an additional $700 to choose our photographer based on the portfolios they provided. Otherwise, you're assigned a photographer based on availability. Our photographer was nice, and I felt confident in our choice based on the portfolio we were shown. Unfortunately, the photos we received were heartbreaking. The photos included in the package are UNEDITED, meaning you're paying for them whether you're happy with them or not. If you want them edited, you have to pay extra, and you also have to pay to have the unedited photos shipped. Honestly, I thought, how bad could they be? I was definitely wrong. There were major issues even before editing. The ONE group photo we received has my eyes closed. As the bride, I'm in the middle of the photo and naturally I'm going to look closely at it. In that same photo, more than half of my family's faces are cut off or blocked. What upset me most was barely being able to see my mom and dad. Other photos are blurry or have a strange scratchy appearance, some have poor or unflattering lighting, and many were taken from EXTREMELY unflattering angles. Going into this, I knew I wasn't the most photogenic person and that I can be awkward in front of a camera. I wasn't expecting perfection, and I understand not every photo will be perfect. But I truly believed that hiring a professional to capture one of the most important days of our lives meant they would take the time and care to capture the people, emotions, and moments that made our wedding special...and capture me at my best not my worst. Instead, looking through these photos has been genuinely heartbreaking. I was honestly on the verge of tears the first time I went through them. It wasn't just about how I looked. It was realizing that so many of the moments and people we wanted to remember weren't captured in a meaningful way. There are random photos of people, but very few that actually tell the story of our day or capture the people we love together. What makes it even harder is that the photographer covered our entire ceremony. I now have very few usable photos of our ceremony and guests...moments that can never be recreated. I'm incredibly thankful I hired someone separately to photograph us before the ceremony because those photos are AMAZING. Without them, I would have very little from our wedding day that I actually love. There were also other package issues. We were told things could be removed and deducted from our total, but that turned out to be another misunderstanding. I didn't like any of the included floral options and didn't want to spend over $500 extra for the simple bouquet I wanted. We were essentially left with the choice of a bouquet or leis. My husband and I are both allergic to leis, so while we were happy to give them to our mothers, we would have preferred the option to simply not have them and not pay for something we couldn't wear. We also didn't really want the live Hawaiian music or conch shell blowing, but were told they were part of the package. We couldn't even choose the Hawaiian song. My grandfather wrote Hawaiian music, and I would have loved to have one of his songs played but we were told they essentially only play the songs they have. To be clear, love Hawaii and are proud to be from here; we simply wanted our wedding to feel like us, rather than a preset "Hawaiian wedding" package. Our day-of coordinator was very nice, encouraging, and helpful, so my frustration isn't directed toward her. My biggest concerns are the lack of clear communication and, most importantly, the photography. At the end of the day, I just wanted photographs that would allow us to look back and remember our wedding the people we love, the emotions, the little moments, and the happiness of having everyone together. Instead, looking through these photos has been genuinely heartbreaking. These are memories we can never recreate, and I wish more care had been taken to capture the actual story and feeling of our day in a flattering way.

While Jayvee was very helpful during the initial planning stages, a scheduling conflict arose two weeks before our wedding, and we were handed off to Leah. Despite the short notice, Leah took over and was incredibly thorough. We scheduled multiple meetings in those final weeks to ensure she knew our vision inside and out. She immediately began checking in with our vendors to ensure everything was on track. Since we were planning from Canada (not sure why our profile says SF) and had never seen our venue, we did a walkthrough with Leah and Monique once we arrived. By the time we hit the rehearsal the day before, they knew our plans well and were identifying small details we hadn't even thought of. The real "kicker" happened the morning of the wedding: the island and our venue flash flooded, and we were forced to call off the day after hair and makeup were just wrapping up at 8AM. In what would have been a breaking point for most couples, Leah, Monique, and Jayvee were our rocks. They helped calm us down and worked tirelessly with our vendors to reschedule everything. We let them know our venue preferences (no ballrooms or conference rooms, we're in Hawaii!) and they assured us that we would be able to plan something for the next day. In less than 24 hours, they helped us plan an entirely new wedding despite unknowns about the weather. Within hours, they secured a brand-new venue, negotiated the rental of a tent left over from a previous event, coordinated with all vendors to rearrange arrival times and logistics, adjusted floor plans, and rental counts due to a shift in guest attendance, and so much more that we probably don't even know. While the total change in venue and timeline led to some unavoidable delays, we saw Leah and Monique working incredibly hard to pivot and make the day beautiful. They "married" our original vision with these new, emergency arrangements as perfectly as possible. It was also the nicest day we had experienced on the island since landing several days before, a huge blessing. Once we finally made it down the aisle, they kept us on schedule and completely stress-free. Because of them, we were able to actually soak in and enjoy our wedding day, even though everything felt brand new. Having Leah and Monique by our side was a true blessing, we cannot recommend them enough for their expertise, heart, and ability to perform under pressure. Leah, Monique, and Jayvee - we love you!

On the big day, they brought that vision to life flawlessly. I didn't have to worry about a thing. They handled everything with calm professionalism and kindness. One moment I'll never forget was when I realized I had forgotten my veil, and the venue was ready to start the ceremony without it. Even after I expressed that I really wanted to wait, they pushed to begin on time. I was feeling pretty heartbroken at the thought of walking down the aisle without something that felt so special to me. Jayvee stepped in and advocated for me without hesitation -she firmly and graciously pushed back multiple times, insisting that we wait. Thanks to her, we delayed the ceremony about 20 minutes until the veil arrived, and I got to walk down the aisle with my veil! I'm forever grateful for that moment. We also had a transportation issue less than a month before the wedding when the shuttle company we had originally booked suddenly bailed on us. It was a stressful moment, but Cherished stepped in immediately, found a reliable replacement, and handled all the coordination. We interviewed with 3 different planners, and ABC ended up being ultimately the perfect fit for us. We loved all the work we saw on the website/social media, and knew that we needed a comprehensive package of some sort since we were busy healthcare professionals working in NYC. We had our initial consultation call with Mackenzie, who was so great, eased our minds, and laid out everything we needed to know to help us make our decision. We made a decision before the end of the week, as we felt the involvement of ABC and their ability to both help design and contact vendors on our behalf with us being so busy would be helpful (and it really was!). Sammy eventually came on to become one of our lead coordinators and we could not rave about her more! Even when we ran into some challenges in the months leading up to the wedding (unexpected vendor changes, inclement weather, etc) Sammy was always 10 steps ahead and really ensured that we had the best outcome possible even before we knew what was happening. We were being photographed outside by the water on the NORTH SHORE with a storm approaching (IYKYK) and Sammy was by our side with a platter of pupu's and cocktails ready to be blown away! We chose their full-service package as this package included sourcing vendors for us, but hiring them turned out to be the biggest mistake of our wedding. 1. Subpar vendor sourcing The vendor recommendations were completely misaligned with our vibe and significantly overpriced. They provided only a single option per category with zero room for comparison. We ended up having to research, vet, and book almost all the other vendors ourselves to get the vibe we wanted at a much more affordable price point. 2. Day-of logistics & communication failure Despite asking for our bus driver's contact details in advance, the team did not coordinate with him. Our driver had to repeatedly call us directly on our wedding day while we were trying to get ready and enjoy the moment. When we brought this up to the team, the excuse given was simply, "Oh yeah, we have never worked with him before." As professional planners, coordinating with new vendors is the bare minimum expectation. 3. Rude and unprofessional attitude on the day A wedding planner should keep the atmosphere calm and positive. Instead, Tessa created unnecessary stress and hostility: a. Disrespectful to Our Officiant: Our officiant, a close friend who walked us through marriage preparation and flew all the way to Hawaii, politely asked Tessa a logistical question and was bluntly told, "Now is not the time to be asking these questions." Right before our march-in, she was openly talking rudely about him in front of our entire bridal party, killing the excitement and making everyone feel uncomfortable. b. Aggressive tone with groomsmen: During the groomsmen photoshoot, she snapped at one of the groomsmen for chewing gum, aggressively telling him: "Is that gum? You either spit it out or you swallow it." 4. Zero Accountability We hesitated to write a public review and reached out privately via email first to share our experience. Their response did not include a single apology or acknowledgment of their shortcomings. Every single external vendor we sourced and hired on our own was fantastic, but Fred and Kate Events consistently added tension, failed on coordination, and treated our closest friends and family with disrespect. Would totally look elsewhere for wedding coordination.

The attention to detail, sense of urgency, the care for the bride was all spot on. They really do take the stress out of your special day so you can enjoy the beauty of Hawaii. For us specifically, we had family members coming from multiple places and I caught a fever. Thankfully, the Idowedding team hand held us through the entire process from advising which hotel to stay at and what's popular to eat. Their care allows you to stress less. It did not feel like we were going through a cookie cutter machine but rather they viewed us as a project to succeed on which makes all the difference in customer experience. Five stars from me as they really impressed me with their personal touch on our once in a lifetime day.

It was helpful during the intake because they ask specific questions to narrow down your search and give you a very easy list of the options for what you are looking for. I do think it would have been a smoother process in the beginning if there was regular communication from the very getgo but it was a little slow as I'm sure they had to prioritize the weddings that were more upcoming. However when it came time closer to our wedding they were definitely very involved in trying to get all details lined up. I had some anxiety with the wedding and whole planning process especially with the weather conditions but there was consistent and constant communication leading up and their advice and suggestions/expertise really helped in making decisions. The day itself was difficult as it was really downpouring right up until the ceremony began but seeing the staff and Cindy and Jessica work so hard for all things to come together was really wonderful and you can tell they really worked hard to make everything come together. Planning a destination is not easy at all and as much of a difficulty it is making decisions, having this team really made it so much easier and you can feel like you can leave it up to them to get everything completed. There were a few hiccups with some items of course that you can expect with all weddings for sure but it was still such an amazing and easy experience that you don't even care about the things that didn't go fully right and just remember the amazing time and the whole wedding that it didn't feel there were any regrets at all. Cindy especially was so good at responses and answering all the nitty gritty that they are such a great team and Jessica really tries to take on the stresses for you so that you're not stressed as the bride. I would recommend if you're looking for a wedding planner as they have a lot encompassing to offer and my wedding turned out absolutely beautiful! Thank you Ido team and Jessica and Cindy especially!!!
