It took me a while before I finally decided to get a haircut and I think I picked the perfect place on where to get it. I called in to check if I can make an appointment on the same day and I was lucky enough that Ann only have one customer that morning. (I came in around 10:40ish) LOCATION: I like how they're so much parking space in the area. The salon itself is clean and everything seems neatly organized. ANN: She's very friendly and welcoming. the lady who did my hair, i believe shes new, its not ann nor her auntie but i was supposed to get a trim. the lady gave me uneven layers!! my hair is super short now and the layers are very uneven. she knew i wanted a trim as my hair WAS still very long and didn't bother asking me if i wanted layers or anything. now i have to wait a very long time for my hair to grow back to how it was before i even got this haircut. so disappointed read more

I'm new to the area, and decided to try this place out due to the high reviews. I called ahead to make sure they had a walk in spot available, and when I walked in it was empty except for a guy doing some waxing (?) on another lady. So the wait wasn't long. Once I was in the seat, I explained what I wanted in clear terms (trim off the back and layered bangs and sides), and let the guy go from there. He did a pretty okay job, but this definitely isn't the best haircut of my life. Also, his hands reeked of chinese takeout and it was so. gross. having them next to my face. The ambience was kind of weird too...ripped up leather couches, kind of dirty, no background music to diffuse the silence. Overall, a basic haircut for $20 isn't bad. Moved to Vallejo 6 months ago and needed to find a new hair salon. So glad I found Modern Hair on Yelp! I walked in around 2 PM without an appointment and was out within an hour with both a haircut and eyebrows waxed by Ann. To be honest, I wasn't set on what kind of haircut I wanted but Ann was great in giving suggestions. She often checked in to make sure I was happy with what she was doing. I ended up getting a LOB and it feels so light and refreshing. Ann also trimmed and waxed my eyebrows and I'm really happy with how everything turned out. I've been getting my haircut from Van since I was in middle school. 10 years later he's still my go to barber. Every and any haircut style I want he delivers exactly how I tell him and at times even makes it better than I originally had envisioned it. Van is what you call a true artist to his craft. He takes his job very seriously but most importantly he makes you look good! From spiky hair when I was kid to now giving me fades, taper, and a clean lineup...Van has never failed to impress me. This place is amazing. They did great job on my hair and explained in detail about the process of dying it. And also they do great curls.

I was a walk in customer and the moment I walked in, Ann gave me a friendly greeting with a beautiful smile. I just wanted to get my damaged hair fixed and have it cut however after I took down my hair clip, Ann saw my crazy hair which I told her that a lot of people called me a Pomeranian because yes it was pretty blondie orange after getting my hair bleached in December. I was not happy seeing my hair dead and a lot falling out. Ann has a fun personality, positive attitude and gives great advised. I didn't expect my hair to get colored because the salon hours where closing in 45 minutes but wow she took me in and made me believe that she can fix my hair. During the hair process Ann and I had some great conversations, and laughs. I could not believe how amazing and how fast she works and I highly recommend her. Ann is the owner of the Salon and she can definitely bring a miracle to your hair needs and gives good advise. I've been getting my hair done at least 4 times this year and I have to say it's one of the best salon I have ever been to. I try many salons to go lighter and they say i can achieve lighter/ blonde hair because of how it'll damage my hair and at least one hair stylist tried but I wasn't satisfied with what I wanted. I gave up and decided to leave my hair dark. I tried this salon through my older sister, she had her hair done by Kristy it looked really good on her and gave it a shot and I have to say it's the best decision I made. I told her how I want my hair to be and did exactly what I wanted. She color corrected then highlight and tone. And she made my hair look very healthy and it still is today.
