    Skinny marg no salt
    Olivia R.

I came for dinner with my husband, friends and our two boys during their all day happy hour on Sunday. We started with their chips and queso, my favorite. Their queso is good! My boys got the $7 happy hour cheese quesadilla. Their quesadillas are pretty large so my boys were able to split 1 meal. If you order a cheese quesadilla from the kids menu, the quesadilla is smaller but you get a side of fries with it. My husband, our friends and I split their carne asada quesadilla, carnitas quesadilla and the chicken tinga quesadilla. They all were large and nicely stuffed with cheese and meats. I loved the flavor of the chicken tinga quesadilla. For drinks, we all ordered a margarita. I always prefer a skinny margarita, no salt. I appreciate them having a skinny margarita on their happy hour menu, not a lot of restaurants do that. Usually, restaurants offer only their original margarita on happy hour. Since we live close by and it's a good place to bring the kids, we have been here many times. We will be back soon!

First off let me say Modern Margarita has the BEST margaritas in the valley, However their service has really gone downhill. My husband & I come at least once a month, for the past 4 times we have sat down and not acknowledged for a bit. We had to get our own menus each time. Had to ask the cleaning staff for water! Once we ordered, chips & salsa, 2 tacos & quesadilla & wings. The wings were very tiny! Waitress said we got the last of them and that's what was left. Pretty much scraps. I would have rather it been sold out! Very disappointed Modern

They have a new breakfast weekend menu. The $10 breakfast burrito was big and excellent. It was a bit spicy with the Chipotle aioli, but nothing crazy. It contains has Browns, eggs and cheese. Not too crowded on sunday at noon, but nice bartenders.

Prettiest margarita flight I've ever seen

This is the place to go for some awesome margaritas and food. I got the margarita flight and the watermelon was my favorite- also got coconut and prickly pear flavors. Very cute display for the flight too. Service was good especially with our big group. Food was bomb - I had shrimp tacos and a mahi taco and yummm, I could eat 10 of them. They were on top of chip and salsa refill, and food came out relatively quick and hot. Very busy restaurant. They also had a taco flight the table next to us got. It's like 20 tacos and looked super good to munch down and split with a few friends. Located in an upcoming- development area in Phoenix.

It was a team party at the Modern Margarita. Since it was a big group, we all decided to sit outside. The service was quick and very friendly. We ordered a lot of things from the menu. For the drink we ordered the margarita flight, hot mango and the Cadillac. We loved all the drinks, it was delicious, strong and really good! For the food I loved the shrimp lettuce wraps, I am a fan. We also enjoyed the fried shrimp taco, lettuce chicken bowl, chicken nachos, wings. The salsa with the nachos was spot on. The disappointment was the cheese quesadilla, zucchini fries. I would skip them the next time around. Overall, had a great time and would definitely be back for the yummy margaritas.

My friends decided to meet at Modern Margarita yesterday! We typically don't choose this restaurant because Hulas is next-door and it's usually far better with the food selection and service is usually better! That said... I wanted to change it up because why not, when I arrived to the bar before my friends arrived. I sat there for a good 5 or 7 minutes before anyone even acknowledged I was there. That's always frustrating for me when the bar is pretty slow which it was at the time... No worries I ordered my vodka. It was good and the cheery bartender was very personable when she finally arrived. My friends showed up we continued to visit and they ordered some more drinks... bartender was great! We decided that we wanted to move to a table so we can all talk because our last friend showed up and we were excited to catch up. We haven't seen each other for a while, so we asked the bartender and proceeded to move to a table. This is where our experience at this restaurant completely turned around! Our waitress finally arrived to our table, believe it was almost 10 minutes later, and mind you they were not busy at all! The servers name was Dani, and she, ironically was training a new employee! I found that to be very cute. The young kid was very eager and very helpful. It's a shame that he was paired up with Dani and it was a shame that she is a trainer because the example that she said was absolutely horrible and I hope the kid is a better server than his trainer! From the moment she arrived to the table, she was very put out! We are all very low maintenance people, even if we weren't we didn't need to be treated like we were a complete inconvenience and annoying! A friend of mine had questions because she has food allergies so she had several questions more than an average person. They were all met with an annoyance and a face that wasn't very nice! I felt so bad for my friend! Just sitting there witnessing it and feeling it was not a good experience! In fact, when my friend ordered a drink, the drink was wrong and she had mentioned it to the server and this server pretty much said the drink was made right and you're wrong in her own words! And the kicker to that is, she charged my friend for that drink that she didn't even drink that was made wrong! I had anxiety when she would come to the table because she was clearly so bothered and annoyed being our server! I am sorry that we were there to catch up with our friends and have a good evening, we did order drinks and myself, and my friend ordered food that we ate and somewhat enjoyed... Modern Margarita, please train your staff to give a welcoming experience and maybe if the server would've been interactive and try to talk to us about t bye menu or something maybe we would've gotten some more food or dessert or something. It's not cool to be served by a jaded, tired board, overworked waiter! I honestly didn't want to give a tip, I did tip a custom tip... And I did put a thumbs down for service, which I don't think she was very happy about because she made a snide comments about it... I didn't appreciate that and again, I hope that young kid she was training gets paired up with somebody else so he has a chance at being a good server! Next time I meet my friends again we probably won't be choosing this restaurant, we will be choosing the Humble Bistro across the street or Hula's or any place else, but Modern!

Happy hour salsa duo and frozen margaritas

My coworkers and I really enjoyed the happy hour at Modern Margarita! The prices were really fair - $7 margarita, $7 chips and salsa duo, and $7 two tacos - they were all really tasty! I had the chicken and veggie tacos and I loved the veggie taco! It was so flavorful and had mushrooms in it! Our waitress was attentive, however she seemed quick to try and turn our table really quickly. We loved the restaurant though - great bar and spacious booths! I'll be back!

    Cold nachos!! Gross

Ordered nachos and they came out cold!! Sent them back and they came back still cold. So disappointing!!

Attending a vendor conference in the Phoenix-area, the last night of the conference was a private party on the Desert Foothills grounds. While Phoenix was suffering through an unseasonably cold winter, the amenities of Desert Foothills didn't dampen anyone's spirits in the slightest. From the retro, ranch-like "Welcome" sign, to the warm and welcoming firepits and patio heaters spread generously throughout the grounds, the venue had everything you could ask for in an open air space. Burros wearing cooler saddles entertained--and refreshed--the attendees, and clever miniature buckets containing everything you needed to make s'mores were nice touches. If you did get too cold, the barn area was very warm and toasty, with an impressive light display and plenty of room for dining, mingling, and a live musical performance (one that, with superior sound and speakers throughout the venue, you could hear clearly no matter where you were). Again, everything was top-notch and I'm jealous of anyone that hosts their event here in the future! The venue manager, Lorena, is completely unprofessional, and the communication throughout the entire process was a nightmare. If you are considering booking this space, please be aware of the multiple red flags we experienced: Right from the start, Lorena canceled our first viewing appointment. Once we rescheduled and booked, communication via text became incredibly difficult. She would take days to respond, routinely failed to fully read messages, and would either ignore direct questions or respond with completely irrelevant answers. Getting a clear answer on when we could meet to pay our remaining balance was an exhausting process of constant follow-ups. During our initial visit, we were explicitly told multiple times that we could have a taquero set up inside the venue. However, when we arrived a month before the event to pay our final balance, Lorena abruptly changed her story, stating it wasn't allowed due to code issues. While code compliance is understandable, she should have contacted us to let us know about the changes sooner. Fortunately, our caterer was flexible enough to switch to a buffet style. We were told the venue would be open starting at 9:00 AM on the day of our event. When we arrived at 1:00 PM to set up, the building was locked. It took staff 30 minutes to arrive and open up, leaving us and our vendors waiting outside, which threw off our entire schedule. During setup, venue personnel constantly hovered and micromanaged us--complaining about the doors being open while we were actively unloading heavy items and restricting one of the vendors from using the VIP suite we had explicitly been told we could use for storage. Our contract required a $500 refundable deposit, which we paid in cash and were promised would be returned in cash. It ultimately took nearly two weeks of constant hounding to get our money back. When I went to retrieve it the Thursday after the event, Lorena claimed she didn't have the cash and promised the owner (Lupita) would Zelle it to me. After providing my information, Lorena would not respond to my texts for days, or sometimes would not respond at all. Fed up, I managed to track down the owner's number directly. When I spoke to Lupita on Friday, she informed me that she had actually given the deposit money to Lorena the day prior. Lorena had the money since Thursday and had not contacted me, even though she knew I had been asking for it for two weeks. The owner told me I could pick it up that day. When I finally went to pick up the deposit, Lorena was incredibly short with us and didn't even apologize. If I hadn't taken it upon myself to bypass management and contact the owner directly, I would probably still be waiting for my money. What should have been a celebratory experience was ruined by unnecessary stress and unprofessionalism. The venue itself is great for parties, but the venue manager/coordinator was horrible. Save yourself the headache and book elsewhere.

We have kids ourselves, so we completely understand that babies cry, but combined with the lack of atmosphere, it made the experience even less enjoyable. We politely asked if we could be moved to the main dining area, but they were unable to accommodate us.
