I have to agree with other reviews....they've gone WAY downhill. I have LOVED the chipotle steak sandwich for years. Every time I go there it's what I get. With the latest visit that sandwich was OK at best. They only put about 1/3 of the meat that I would normally receive; there were parts of the sandwich that I was literally eating ciabatta with lettuce and dressing. I really wanted to like this place based on all the good recommendations I had heard, but time and time again I left disappointed. Their food is always inconsistent and the same meal will taste different every time. For example, the Basil Chicken sandwich sometimes comes cold and sometimes comes hot, sometimes with dressing and sometimes without. The guy who hand me my food is always rude - one time he forget the chips with the sandwich and one time they didn't wrap up my order that I placed to go at the counter, and both times he gave me attitude when I politely asked to correct the mistake. The wait is always long, even when there seem to be few people there. If they are going to charge an arm and a leg for their food, I expect excellent customer service and consistent food every time. I swung through Boulder yesterday and was looking for a place to grab a quick bite. Mod Market was a find! By far the best food for your dollar of any restaurant I have ever been to. The food was exceptional. I really enjoyed watching the chef build my salad and assemble flat bread pizza. I was eating my food less than three minutes after entering the restaurant. The interior is filled with sunlight from the big glass walls at both ends and solar tubes from above. I will eat at Mod Market every time I am in Boulder. I hope they open more soon! read more

Wow! My first time, and I was quite impressed. The menu was varied without being overwhelming. The ordering process was easy and the staff helpful. The food came surprisingly quickly, in about 10 minutes. And the prices were incredibly reasonable, particularly given the stellar quality of the food. I had the steak lunch with Ginger Maple Veggies and Rosemary Sweet Potato Mash. I was in heaven! The meat was tender, juicy, flavorful (a subtle marinade?) and plentiful enough to take home for a second meal. The tri-color carrots in the mixed veggies tasted like they just came out of my grandfather's garden, and were cooked just right - neither over-crunchy or soft mush. And the fresh rosemary beautifully enhanced the brightness of the sweet potatoes, which must have been organic, based on the intensity of the flavor. Last, but not least, the sauce served with the steak was so green and fresh it nearly jumped off the plate. My husband had a no-dairy pizza with which he was very impressed. Even the mushrooms had just the right consistency, and the blend of flavors more than made up for the absence of cheese. Finally a place that has super quality healthy fast food! I love this restaurant! I've tried something different each time I've been there and have been pleased with every order. Their gluten free pizza crust is one of the best out there and the salads are wonderful (extremely tasty salad dressings, a great mix of ingredients, and the biggest I've seen). In reading reviews, I see there are a lot of comments about Modmarket being on the pricey side. Maybe so...but not when you consider you are getting fresh ingredients without all the additives and everything is made-from-scratch. Personally, I am willing to pay more for this peace of mind. Modmarket is a great lunch/ dinner spot. I like the fresh, quality food and gluten free options. It's one of the few places I feel like I can reliably go and find something to eat that will be good for me and not upset my stomach. I do think it's a little overpriced, and I take issue with how much extra they charge for gluten free options. They have a great salad with goat cheese for those who are dairy-free too. So I've ordered and been here a few times, but my most recent experience has got to be one of the best I've ever had with a food company. The food is always more than exceptional, but the service is also above and beyond. I recently injured myself and had attempted to make a delivery order but only realized after I had submitted the order that delivery was no longer an option. I called to cancel my order and was resigned to order less quality food when the manager Peter very graciously offered to deliver me the food anyways as he realized they had only recently transitioned to discontinuing delivery and was very sympathetic to my inability to stand or walk which greatly limited my capacity to pick-up or create delicious food. Above and beyond is all I can say about the service and the food. Even though they will no longer be able to deliver you would be doing yourself a disservice by not enjoying the friendly staff and wonderful food created by this staff. So, with some prompting I decided to give this place another try today. My first experience was forgettable. I went back, and decided to give it one more chance. I am really happy that I did. I had a half salad and half flat-bread. Everything came out pretty quickly and was really yummy. I appreciate places you can get lunch and not need a siesta (though we all still want one) The salad was really fresh, and the flat bread was really crispy. I gotta give props to one of the employees dealing with a pretty rude customer, he was so nice. I sat at my table listening, amused but feeling the employees pain of having to deal with someone who obviously did not get the memo that in Boulder, we don't use attitude over a .65 cent mistake that was being corrected as fast as possible! These folks definitely "get it". Fresh, tasty, made-to-order food with good portions (not huge, but just right), at reasonable prices. My friends and I showed up right in the middle of lunch and they were slammed... just finding a parking space took about 5 minutes (not their fault, just to illustrate that this was the height of lunch hour). Regardless, the lines moved quickly and everyone we dealt with was super friendly while also being extremely fast and efficient. I worked in NYC for close to two years and this place reminds me of the lunch shops all over the city that can have a line out the door but still churn through orders in a couple minutes. I really value that in a lunch spot, and these guys deliver, plus the food is excellent. Definitely my #1 spot in the 29th street mall and surrounding area for a healthy, fast bite to eat, and I absolutely plan to return. read more

Mod Market prides itself on organic and clean foods. The "mod" is the white and stainless steel decor and futuristic bathroom. Seating is the only drawback. It is bench style, tall tables for 2, or seating at the counter. A bit cramped. The salad portions are huge, enough to fill you up as a meal. The hubs and I have really taken strides to avoid national food chains and to avoid those quick food places that will clog our arteries. Until we found Mod Market, that meant we either ate pricey or we ate at Whole Foods. Thank God for Mod Market! It offers a variety of salads, pizzas, sandwiches, and soups. I know that that sounds a little....Panera-ish. However, this place is light years ahead! The salads are made in front of you, Mad Greens style, with fresh and tasty ingredients. They make everything in house (even their steak) and give you the choice of the amount you want of your salad dressing. The salads were absolutely amazing. The pizza was good, but nothing to rave about. We just tried the green chicken chili, which was bland, but not horribly. The prices were pretty decent and the "side" salad size was huge and the regular salad size gigantic! They do have a soda fountain, which is stocked with Boyer's cane sugar soda, which makes me happy to be able to avoid HFCS should I choose to imbibe. I have dined-in at this location several times over the years and always had a good experience. Due to time constraints, I decided to place an online order this week with the hopes of just being able to walk in an pick it up. That was not my experience and I was disappointed that there was not a better system in place for pick-up orders. I stood in a long line that crammed into the doorway, making it difficult for others to come in and stand in line. That line did not move as fast as it should have considering how many people were behind the counter; only two of them were actually taking orders. I had scheduled the order for a 12:10pm pick-up and arrived just after 12pm, but did not actually get to the front of the line until 12:20. By the time I got my food, the pizza was cold and the salad had wilted from the warm potatoes. The food was still palatable, but lacked the quality that I have come to expect from ModMarket. And, I was late, which was what I was trying to avoid when I made the order online at 8am. I wanted to love this place. I like the concept of healthy, clean food, fast. Spent several minutes deciding which salad to order that would be a healthier vegetarian GF option. Ordered a "build your own" salad with greens, tomatoes, balsamic on the side, period. Got home and dumped the salad in a bowl to mix it, and realized there was at least a half cup of vegetable oil in the bottom of the container. The bottom half of the greens were drenched in oil. Oil literally standing in the container. Absolutely inedible. I tried separating the oil drenched greens from the non-drenched, got so disgusted at the amount of oil that I threw the whole thing in the sink and walked away. And no, the salad dressing hadn't broken open and spilled. It was all oil off the 5-10 "roasted" grape tomatoes. Uh, that's not how you roast anything. Literally anything. No one could eat that much oil and not get sick. Makes me very suspicious that the publicly posted nutritional information is wildly erroneous. I LOVE this place. Their salads are great. I find the ingredients much fresher than other restaurants (no nasty brown leaves or mushy veggies - yuk!). A half size salad is huge and more than enough for me. Their flatbreads are also excellent. I've heard some people refer to it as pizza, but that's not what it is, so don't expect it to be like pizza. It's much lighter than pizza, so all the ingredients really stand out. The Veggie flatbread is especially good, as is the Goat cheese one. Make sure to also try their great selection of natural sodas. My favorite is the root beer. Great place! read more
