I am not much of a salad guy, but I was impressed with this place. I checked out the menu online before heading over and was struck by how fresh everything looked. Now I know those photos are usually taken by food pros that can make a Carl's Jr burger look gourmet, but food looked just as good in person. I ended up with a chipotle steak sandwich but my colleagues got the salads and they looked amazing. My sandwich was tasty, could have been a bit bigger but very good. The Farmer salad looked pretty good and that will be my pick for next time. Place is crazy busy at lunch time and despite a good sized space, seating seems limited. Better in the summer as they have a patio. Felt like people were hovering waiting for us to leave, and that kind of freaks me out. Overall, very happy with the visit. read more

I'm a huge fan of Modmarket since I moved to Denver about a year ago. Not only because I'm a dietitian and a foodie but the food there is inarguably the best as far as healthy food goes! It's nice that they give you a discount towards your next purchase to give you more incentive to come back. I also like the fact that you see the nutrition breakdown of your meal. Information is power when you're watching what you eat. I ordered the crimini kale pizza for takeout and it turned out to be both healthy and tasty. With that being said, I liked the decor in the 16th street location much better. You can't go wrong with Modmarket if you're into eating fresh and wholesome food like me. read more

Ya gotta love a place that demonstrates it's concern for its customers by putting the focus on health. Modmarket takes the lead on something one day soon, all restaurants will have to do. The calories of each menu item are clearly printed on the order board, and the receipt presents calories, carbs, fat, and protein counts. On the surface, it's just another fast casual joint that has soups, sandwiches, and pizza. But the food is well above average, fresh, and local, and the decor is decidedly au currant, with a cool, retro modern vibe. I can think of a dozen places I'd like to open a franchise of Modmarket, but alas that would detract from it's "fresh and local" focus. I am in love love love with this fresh food market! So far I've tried the Merida Salad! A delicious bed of fresh greens loaded with beans, corn, chicken an entire half of an avocado, blue corn tortilla pieces, pickled red onion and this delicious red pepper/tomato based dressing that sure kicked up the flavor with the good kind of punch to the mouth! Can I add that this salad for $10 and some change is huge!!!! I mean lunch and dinner huge!!!! I used to love this place...I order here all the time for lunch. Lately things have been slipping. Missing items etc. today I ordered the pork bahn mi as per usual with light sauce. This isn't light sauce, it's extra! My sandwich is swimming in it. I get a half hour for lunch, I don't have time to be messing around with slop trying to rebuild a sandwich. Modern Market is a tasty restaurant for a casual meal. The food is all very healthy with fresh ingredients. I ordered the chicken with a side of glazed carrots and roasted vegetables. The carrots were delicious - I couldn't get enough! And the chicken was very good because it was served with an olive oil-based sauce, like pesto. It was great. The vegetables, however, were not good. They were soggy and cold and didn't not have good flavor. I couldn't even distinguish what kinds of veggies they were. The place was busy and staff were dismissive when my partner when to grab the food. The BBQ Pizza itself wasn't very good. The sauce was too spicy, there was hardly any cheese on it, the chicken was dry, and there was like 4 onions total on it. The panceta was just okay, but nothing special. Overall, we won't be coming back. Only positive was that the food was quick, but quick service for poor food doesn't balance out. read more

I love mod market. The food is usually good and healthy, also I really appreciate the nutritional information on the receipt as well as on the website as well. I was a bit disappointed that they changed their chimichurri recipe and put it on the chicken on the home style plate. Also the portions are off sometime. I've been to this modmarket multiple times and sometimes they're generous with the chicken and other times I get half of a chicken breast. It be nice if it was more consistent from time to time but that's about it. read more

Mmmm.... Modmarket makes farm fresh salads, sandwiches, pizzas, and soup in a fast, casual environment. What's not to like about that? I've had a variety of items from here and always enjoyed them. Things like the Fall Cobb Salad (bacon, avocado, gorgonzola, roasted squash, spicy pecans, romaine, buttermilk ranch) or the BLT +A Sandwich (bacon, arugula, tomato, avocado and basil aoili on sourdough). But, the food is fairly seasonal so you never know what might end up on the menu. You can easily eat in here as there are lots of seats and a patio. Or you can take it to go (order ahead online if you'd like to take it to go really fast.) The prices are reasonable and the food is good. Yep, I'm a fan! read more

The first time I went to ModMarket, there was a fundraiser with kids running all over the place. Huge turnoff. However, I went again yesterday, and things improved ten fold. I was even able to use their Boylan Soda machine this time, props to that machine. I love Boylan Cream Soda. This time, we ordered a Coconut Salad, BBQ Pizza, and a cup of Tomato Soup. While the prices do seem expensive at first, they are no more expensive then what you would find at the Panera down the road ($20 for 2 You Pick two Items). The food at ModMarket is much higher quality, so I would go here over a similar place such as Panera and the like. Plus, they have Hazed and Infuzed by Boulder Beer. As far as quality, the Pizza was delicious. Great crust. The soup was also good. The best item was the Coconut Salad - I read about the salad on Yelp and it certainly tasted as good as everyone said. Tried this place for the first time today after passing it countless times on my way to Pinkberry (I have an addiction). Went with my 6 year old and my 9 wk old. The 6 year old got the kids' pepe pizza and devoured it. I ordered the Farmer's salad and thoroughly enjoyed the two bites I got to take before the baby woke up and insisted I stand and rock him. There were lots of things that stood out about this place; great food, $2 glasses of wine (of which I will partake when I go back for a meal with adults. God, I miss adults...), and they print the nutritional info of your meal on the receipt! Mind: blown. BUT what stood out the most to this mildly overwhelmed mama was how helpful the staff was. One of the young men there saw me carrying both my baby and our tray and quickly stepped in to get the tray and take it to our table. He checked on us a few times, yukked it up with my 6 year old and was just downright nice. I appreciated that a lot. I don't go out too much now that I have a fussy newborn to attend to, but my experience here was great. And yes, I went to Pinkberry after. There are a lot of fast casual places that claim to be healthy, but once I look at the nutritional information, I'm left thinking, "how so?" I think it would be more appropriate to call these places "healthy style" you know, like "Kosher Style"? It looks Kosher, but it really isn't? This isn't the case with Modmarket. While I wouldn't say the pizza is healthy, their salads and sandwiches certainly are, and they proudly display the nutritional information on both the menu and your receipt. Everything about this place says fresh, while I was waiting for my sandwich, one of the employees was pulling roasted chicken breasts out of the oven, and they bake their own bread. I went to Modmarket for dinner for the first time last week and got the Eggplant Goat Cheese Sandwich to go. While I'm not a fan of goat cheese, I am a fan of everything else on the sandwich so I decided to give it try. It blended nicely with the veggies and balsamic dressing. Plus, the homemade Ciabatta bread was delicious and didn't overwhelm the sandwich fillings. Next time I'd like to try one of their salads. Perhaps my only grumble about Modmarket is their locations, none are really that convenient for me. I hope they open more soon. The US, not just Colorado, needs more places like this. read more

I'm a new Modmarket customer and in utter fascination with the healthiness and freshness of their food. The menu is just big enough to have something for everyone, not too big to where it takes 30 minutes to decided on something. Sandwiches, salads, pizza, and soup. The ability to easily spend less than $15 for a substantial and filling portion of food that satisfies a craving. On my first visit I decided to do a half salad and half sandwich. I ordered the Sweetcorn Sandwich with chicken, chipotle sweet corn, pickled onion, tomato, and arugala on sourdough. This was a perfect size half of a sandwich and every ingrediant could sing within the sandwich bringing it's own flavor and all working together in harmony. I also got the Fiesta chicken salad, we've all had one of these before. I ordered a half, and I'd hate to see a full size one, a half a salad here is pretty darn big. I'm pretty sure there was a whole avocado in my salad, really loving that. The food is fresh, delicious, healthy, and fast. I could rave about this place forever, so I will make a list of my faves: 1. The food - SUPER fresh and delish! The thai coconut salad is fantatstic- on of the best salads my mother has ever had (she has her own garden and tends to be snobbish). 2. The prices - for 2 for lunch it was $20. 3. The portions - half sizes are plenty 4. The nutrition facts are printed on the receipt!!! 4. The ambiance - inside is modern and clean. Gotta love that I get emails for restaurant soft openings. Their menu is full of Healthy Pizzas, Homemade Soups, Fresh Salads and Toasted Sandwiches and everything I saw looked really delicious. My friends and I decided on the pizzas. I ordered "Goat" pizza with red basil pesto, arugula, tomato and goat cheese and they both ordered the "BBQ" with chicken, pepper jack, parmesan, cilantro and red/green onions. Both were really good and big. The crust was the best part since it was so thin, I didn't feel too entirely bad about eating the entire thing...yeah once you see these you think you couldn't, but you can. There is an option for Gluten Free pizzas for $3.00 extra. They also have Boylan Fountain soda with pure sugar cane. They have root beer, creme soda, diet, regular, lemon, etc. Really good pop! We also got to sample one soup which was the Curry Split Pea, a vegan soup, and I would most definitely get that again! Prices aren't bad. The ingredients look and taste extremely fresh. Service was quick. Each meal has calorie content. They sell Barefoot wine and beer as well. I will definitely be back for the Fig pizza or their flatiron salad with steak and gorgonzola. I'd driven by ModMarket probably two dozen times, thinking about stopping in every once in a while but never doing so. Finally on a night when I just didn't feel like cooking but knew I wanted something healthy for dinner -- it clicked. Why not finally try ModMarket? I went in, loved the atmosphere and quick friendly service. I ordered the Chipotle Steak Sandwich combo, with a cup of green chicken chili. All was glorious. The sandwich takes a couple minutes because it's fresh. Fresh and amazing. Tender pieces of steak, great chipotle mayo, fresh greens, awesome bread...So great. Also loved the bed of fresh greens with the sandwich, and some sort of balsamic dressing that I'm not positive isn't made of fresh angels. Good prices, healthy natural food and a great atmosphere. Dear Mod Market owners. Please hire better staff. My wife and I have eaten here twice and loved our food both times. Unfortunately both times many tables were dirty when we walked in, and remained dirty when we leave. It is disgusting! On today's visit we ordered 2 pizzas, asked to replace the chicken with mushrooms on the mexi pizza because I am vegetarian, and asked to add chicken on the fig pizza for my wife. We got a mexi pizza with chicken and a fig pizza with mushrooms. Given that there are 4 other customers in the place, we just don't understand why the staff can't clean the 6 dirty tables off and get our food right. Perhaps because they are too busy texting on their IPhones as the employee I'm staring at right now is doing! read more

Tastiest organic health food around. Well rounded menu of salads, brick oven pizzas, sandwiches, and... they even have a dessert pizza... with Nutella and strawberries. What more could one want in life? The ingredients are all local, the crust whole grain, and they have the nutritional facts on the menu board which I so appreciate. A whole pizza averages about 700 calories, and I always share. Totally reasonable. And for what it is, it's really good. The decor is also awesome, and they have the all natural cane sugar soda fountain! Which I've only seen elsewhere at Biker Jims. They also offer gluten free and vegan... if you're into that... THEY SERVE BOYLAN'S SODA, FOUNTAIN-STYLE!!! I don't mean to yell, it's just that in all my years living in NJ, I never saw this NJ created/located company's beverage served in anything but its customary bottle. I shared my amazement with the owner (I think), he told me how hard it was to get Boylan's to ship the fountain from the East Coast. Modmarket gets 5 stars just for pulling that off. Oh,if you are wondering, the Orange & Root Beer are my 2 faves in the fountain, but the Black Cherry is my fave in the bottle. The food was mixed bag - the Farmer salad was OK (a little salty, but not sure why/how), but the Cashew Butternut Squash soup was quite tasty, and on the thicker side, which I liked! How does a restaurant manage to keep their employees so happy? The service here is always fantastic--very helpful and legitimately friendly. (The last time I was there, one of the young ladies was actually dancing while she was cleaning the glass partition that separates the staff and the clientele. Amazing!) From top to bottom, it's a very thoughtfully conceived enterprise. The decor is fresh and clean--imagine if Ikea opened a restaurant with a mind toward sustainability and health consciousness. I'm a sucker for the Dyson Air Blades in the bathrooms, too. The food isn't perfect (things skew a little starchy on their dishes) but it's tasty and the menu offers lots to choose from within the pizza/salad/sandwich paradigm. The freshly baked breads are scrumptious even if they sometimes overpower the rest of the sandwich ingredients. Let's not forget the happy hour, either, with its $1.50 bottles of New Belgium brews. Those, combined with the free wi-fi, make it one of my favorite places to plop down and do some late afternoon work. You have to love that they're local, but especially since this is a concept which you can easily imagine having locations across the country. read more

Well, I have seen this place and wanted to go, so when the, dare I say, Groupon came out, I was on it and scooped one up. We finally got to cash in the other night and all I can say is, why did I wait?! Super cool, chic atmosphere for "fast" food. The menu is very chic too. All the ingredients are very fresh. I had the most difficult time deciding because it all sounded good. I finally went with the fig brick oven pizza and the hubs had the chipolte steak sandwich. We each really enjoyed our meals. The pizza was great. The crust was yummy and crispy. The pizza consisted of with a variety of cheeses, including my favorite goat cheese, and delicious figs sprinkled throughout , then topped with mixed greens. With some red pepper flakes sprinkled on top, this made for a salty/sweet treat. I really enjoyed it. I had a small bite of my husband's sandwich. The steak and chipolte mayo were very good and full of flavor, but we both agreeed, the bread was a bit too much. It was hard to even fit a whole bite into your mouth. We also enjoyed a glass of Barefoot wine with our dinners. I am telling you, I can't wait to explore this menu more. The salads all sound very enticing as well as the soups and pizzas. I am a fan of the Modmarket in Boulder so I was excited when a branch opened up in Denver. However, I am no longer often in that area so it took me a while to make it to the new Modmarket. Well, I checked it out today, and it is just as awesome as the one in Boulder, except with better service! Sweet. It is quite a bit smaller than the Boulder one, and at noon it was almost totally packed. So I'd recommend getting there a bit on the early or late side for good seating options. I had the Thai Coconut Salad (made with spinach rather than mixed greens) and it was delicious. The sweet potatoes were shredded like carrots which I thought was an interesting presentation. The dressing I am pretty sure had crack in it. My only beef with this place is that it is on Colorado Blvd, the most annoying street in Denver, so it is kind of inconvenient, and I still think they need more dessert options than a whole Nutella pizza. Like cookies or brownies or something. Other than that I love this place and I will come back as soon as I can bring myself to drive on Colorado again. read more

I did not have a great experience the first time I tried Modmarket, for the reasons my previous review explains. The owner contacted me and offered to comp my next meal to make up for my unsatisfactory experience. I greatly appreciated his gesture, but I did not take him up on it for the obvious reason: how would I know if they REALLY addressed the problems that I had mentioned, or if they simply took special care on the free order and then slacked off from there on out? Paranoid, perhaps... but I take my Yelp review very seriously and I want them to be as accurate as possible. I'm always annoyed when Yelp reviews lead me to expect a 4-5 star experience and I end up with a 1-2 star experience instead. In any case, I have been back to Modmarket several times since my initial review and I am very happy to say all of my complaints have been addressed. On each subsequent occasion, an employee bused the entire eating area every 10 minutes. Also, my food was very good and correctly prepared. I ordered the BBQ chicken plate with broccolini and smashed sweet potatoes. DELICIOUS. Unfortunately I'm so addicted to this place that I'll probably be signing my checks over to Modmarket each month. Whatevs. Totally worth it. I like the idea of this place, but the food is nothing special. Or maybe I'm just used to high calorie meals. These were just OK: * Pepe (nitrate free pepperoni) pizza: thin whole grain crust, incredibly oily, but decent * Chimi Chicken sandwich: the ciabatta was tasty and had the brick oven flavor, but the chicken was incredibly dry * Fiesta Salad: romaine, roasted corn, black bean salad, radish, avocado, jack cheese, herb roasted chicken, chipotle lime dressing; decent flavor, but again the chicken was very dry Nutritional information on the menu board as well as on the receipt is helpful, unique, and appreciated; now I know my intake of calories, fat, carbs, and protein. Other Details: The inside of the restaurant is modern, but a bit cold. Their dishwasher must not be very good, as some of the silverware and glassware had bits of food stuck on them. I absolutely adore Mod Market (clearly since I'm the check-in Duchess at the Boulder location). I found this location hard to find tucked behind some other stores and I had to flip a U-turn when I realized I missed the turn off. Grr. But it's the same old delicious Mod Market with my gluten-free steak sandwhich sans cheese, extra avocado with original pop chips and a side salad. The day I went the alternative soda machines were broken which seems to be an issue with all of the mod markets. What gives? Headline: farm fresh, meet delicious We came to Modmarket because it was close, and we were glad we did. The urban interior gives this place character, but the food really shines. Options like half portions and gluten free are much appreciated. I ordered the Chimi Chicken sandwich and cup of tomato basil soup as a combo. The sandwich was spicy; the soup was nicely chunky and everything was flavorful. Boo on the pickle spear though - something a little different would have been nicer. My wife had half of a Pepe pizza - the pepperoni was among the best she had tasted. The side salad with balsamic vinaigrette was a nice salad, but the vinaigrette was of a high standard. The salad was only "greens" - some other components (tomato or sprouts or something else) would have been appreciated. Sodas - a fountain machine with Boylans was much appreciated.
