Back in March for my Bday I wanted to do my nail and ask for a pretty standard simplish design , the pregnant woman who did my nail said she could do it. I was left with thick nails , that were misshapen, and crooked thick design not at all the kind of work I was used to. I spoke up but the owner lowkey made me feel like it was my fault for not saying the obvious, she did fix it after seeing me so upset for the first time. So , I gave this place a second chance... On to today where I am on a flight to Singapore and going to have to figure out possible urgent care or nail salon cost to avoid possible infection. The women who did my nails (braces , short and Hispanic with darker features) , left a hangnail on my toes and cut me on several finger nails! I also noticed them snickering and being unprofessional around customers, along with nasty attitudes. Listen we all have bad days , but if you hate your jobs don't make paying customers suffer. This is my third time going to 167 Foxy Nails and I already have an appointment for a fourth! My first time was with a different tech and tbh, it was nothing special. I was not impressed. The nails were thick, and uneven. My favorite part was the very neutral jelly color. I decided to give the salon another try, and am happy I did. This tech examined my nails while having a brief consult on what I'd like. I told her I wanted the same color & shape (boring, I know). She tried to find the color through like a million test swatches, but never got a match. That's when she got to work! She filed down the thickness of the acrylic, taking her time to not only look (from different angles), but to FEEL for smoothness. That's when I knew I was going to walk out with good nails. She perfected the coffin shape, and took care of any stray cuticles. I was happy with my nails for the first time in years! Over the next few days, I'd look down at them and smile. And not only did they look good, they were durable! It took at least three weeks between each fill, the nails grew out, but never lifted. The last visit I had the original nails removed. There was no prying with a metrocard, or any other strong arm tactics. Just a soak in warm acetone and filing. Another consult on what I'd like and together we came up with the almond. The pictures make my nails look like pink M&Ms, but that's just my poor picture taking skills. The salon is appointment only, and I've never been made to wait when it was time. It's a small space, but doesn't feel stuffy. This is my go to spot for the foreseeable future.

I believe this time the top coat was applied incorrectly because the salon's black polish is already chipping on four of my fingers. The lines are freehand and sloppy, which bothers me to no end. Overall, the color selection is small, and most of the bottles look very old and are separating. I also would not recommend getting eyebrows done here. For the amount I spent on mediocre nails, I'd expected a better outcome for my brows. Alas, she shuffled me into a room that looked unclean and swiftly slopped wax onto my face and ripped it off. No combing or shaping, scissor cutting, and minimal tweezing. I do a better job when I maintain them myself. She had stopped going there after 5 full years of loyalty because the ladies weren't adjusting to her likes and her nails kept falling off before time. Although she told me that she doesn't really approve I decided to give it a shot since I was desperate and needed to attend a family event. As soon as I enter I wasn't even given a salutation, I had to approach one of the ladies that sit in front. She yelled towards the back of the room to have someone attend me. Seemed like there were about three ladies having lunch while the store only had 2 working females in front. Mind you, there was 2 other clients waiting. Finally, someone came grabbed my hand, saw the work that was needed and called someone else from the back. To make the story short, they accepted me as a client. When I finally sat down and saw that they only worked with a special kind of powder I asked them to remove the nails with acrylic (which I had from another nail salon). They looked at me clueless and began to give me looks as they spoke their language (clearly talking atrociously about me). I then saw how they did my other nails which were crooked! I couldn't proceed not only because they didn't work with acrylic and still accepted my business, but because of their way of adjusting my nails which seemed like it was a beginner's work and because of the looks they were giving me. I felt completely insulted will never recommend this place to anyone, not even my worst enemy.
