Kris and Israel are just fantastic. They take good care of our cats when we're gone by hanging out with them and playing with them. One of our cats also suffers from acne, and they are able to easily apply the cream on our cat with no problem! He always fights me when I try to apply the cream! We've used Modern Pet enough that we can tell the cats can recognize them and feel comfortable around them. The second cat is particularly skittish so it's helpful to have such caring sitters when we are gone. We've gone through several other sitters who would never update us or leave a nice note when we return home. Kris and Israel are just super considerate when it comes to leaving your babies with them! Let me join the chorus of how great Modern Pet is. I don't need them for regular daily walks, but Israel has stayed overnight at my house with my pups twice now. The first time I called him extremely last minute and he put my mind at ease instantly. As soon as my girls and I met him, I could tell that he just "got" my high-maintenance old lady dog and my perma-puppy. It was great to get text updates while I was away and I loved the note that detailed their time with Israel when I came home. I called Israel again recently and scheduled another 3-day overnight. Well, horrible storms and a stand-by plane ticket had me stuck in an airport for 2 extra days. As awful as the situation was, the easiest thing was just being able to call Israel and get a "no problem!" when I asked him if he could stay another night. When I finally got home, my dogs were happy to see me, but I could tell they hadn't missed me THAT much!! They were more than fine, because as I read in Israel's note--he had stopped by again around dinner just to check on them, since he wasn't sure when I'd finally make it home. I was thrilled! At our initial meeting, Isreael took an extensive amount of time to get to know our dog, recommend how to care for her, and to answer all of our "new dog owner" questions. Israel is very flexible with scheduling-- we can text him to request evening and weekend walks when we know that we'll be away and he is almost always available. Modern Pet was a GREAT find when my husband and I moved into West Town. Kris and Israel have taken terrific care of our energetic golden retriever Charley. They were reliable, trustworthy, priced reasonably, and most of all- Charley LOVED them! They were good with Charley's allergies and would only give him potato treats. They were super flexible with our schedule and would roll with any kind of changes in the routine. They also did weekend care of Charley when my husband and I would go on trips. I had used many other services before that were either terrible or just okay, but now that I've worked with Modern Pet I've never had to consider using anyone else. I've sometimes come home when they're returning from a walk or will run into their employees when I'm walking the dog myself in the neighborhood and you can tell that our dog loves the people that work for this company. The owners, Israel and Kris, are great to work with. They're very flexible when I need to make changes on the fly or add walks and even made a special trip to my brother-in-law's house to get familiar with his place when our dog stayed with him while my wife and I went out of town so they could walk him there. My wife and I had been regularly using Modern Pet's services for a little over a year, having them come in for mid-day dog walks 3-4 days a week. Recently, my wife and I had Kris and Israel pick up our dog and watch him overnight while we were out of town. We arranged for our dog to stay the night with Kris and Israel Friday and Saturday nights and be dropped back off on Sunday morning. On early Sunday morning, while 500 miles away, I received a text from our neighbor who lives above us asking if we were home because our dog had been consistently barking throughout Saturday night and sounded increasingly upset. When I finally made contact with Israel to talk about the situation, I was told Kris had brought our dog back to our house and crated him early Saturday evening. Had our neighbors been gone that weekend, I have no doubt we wouldn't have received any heads up from Kris or Israel. When I expressed my concern for their lack of communication and the fact our dog was dropped off to be left alone in the house without our consent, Israel he had no explanation why no one contacted us to report an issue or to report that they had dropped our dog back off at our house! Over the course of 2 different conversations about the issue, the story seemed to change from one conversation to another as to why they brought him back to begin with. To top it off, our dog was returned filthy and had a streak of white paint running down the side of his body. I wouldn't trust Modern Pet to watch my dog if I was there with them! I feel I completely lucked out finding Kris & Israel shortly after we adopted our dog a year ago. She has energy to expend, and my and my husband's schedules can be unpredictable so she gets 2 walks per day for most of the year. Modern Pet has been flexible, so easy to work with, and very reliable. Our dog loves Talia and Israel, and as first time dog owners, it's been helpful to have advice and feedback from people who have experience with a lot of dogs and who regularly see her. She gets a lot out of the social time she has with the dogs who are paired with her too. Just know that walks typically happen within a 60-90 minute window depending on who else they are walking that day, and sometimes walks will go longer (which is great!). I love coming home to the notes that Talia or Nicole or Israel leave me about her day. Modern Pet has been critical to improving our dog's mild separation anxiety issues and has become part of her family! read more

My dogs are my universe, and have required special care due to health issues, etc over the years. I worked with a few different dog walkers before I was referred to Kris and Israel, but it's been 14 years that they have been caring for my dogs and thank goodness we have them! Literally not once have they not provided walks on time, sometimes several times in one day, vacation services, or responded as I would have expected. They are always willing to accommodate special requests, consistently provide love and care to my dogs, and have bailed me out with basically no notice on my part many times. I trust them with my precious babies and have never had a single bad experience with them. They were also extremely careful and loving to my rat terrier when she was sick with liver cancer last year (Miss Tommy loved them so much!).
