The food was good, just like always :). I ordered Jjampong. I love everything; perhaps the octopus could be cooked a little longer to tenderize more. I love the crunchiness from it, and the crunchiness from the black mushroom too. Maybe the chef can find a way to achieve just enough tenderness while still being crunchy, which would be perfect. Another thing, my bowl looks burned on the edges. Kudos to all staff! I have noticed that they always work together seamlessly as a team. This place filled up during peak dinner time on a Saturday, so it's probably best to get here earlier to avoid waiting too long. They can accommodate big groups, as they had 2 different large groups at the same time, but those took up a lot of tables because the restaurant isn't that spacious. The combos are a good option if you have people to share with and/or multiple people are hungry. The portions are enough for more than one meal, and the prices reflect that. We ordered boiled dumplings and the friends combo A with jajung, jjamppong, and tangsuyuk (M). The bowls of jajung and jjamppong are huge, but I didn't notice any meat in the jajung. The jajung was basically noodles, brown sauce, and onions. It was tasty, but disappointing that it looked and tasted vegetarian. The jjamppong was tasty because it was garlicky and slightly spicy. I was surprised to see the boiled dumplings were basically tiny wontons in clear broth. They need to update their menu description because I was expecting dry and regular sized dumplings. This place is located on the Western edge of Lynnwood near Edmonds College. The area is a bit sketchy, but they have a large parking lot in the front. The inside is spacious, clean, and brightly lit. After ordering, the food came out after 15 minutes. We ordered the Jajang noodles and the sweet and sour pork. The portions for both items were generous and tasted fantastic. Came here on a Friday night and was able to snag a table right away. They seem to specialize in just a few things which makes it easier to choose. They have some fun combos of which we tried the classic combo A which includes jjajangmyun, fried pork, and jjampong. I will say, the website advertised they had the best jjampong and I would have to agree. That was the highlight of the meal, chewy noodles and just an overall super flavorful soup that I really would come back for. The jjajangmyun was solid, a bit salty but pretty good. On the way back to Vancouver, I managed to stop by this Chinese Korean restaurant well-known for its jajangmyeon and jjamppong. The menu is simple with limited options, which helps an indecisive diner like me. Everything is a staple at this restaurant, and when the food arrived, I was impressed with the amazing portion size. The flavour of the jjamppong was amazing - savoury and umami, perfectly hearty with lots of seafood and brisket. I couldn't stop drinking the soup even when all the noodles were gone. The jajangmyeon was also really delicious, and the sauce-to-noodle ratio was perfect! It's a shame that this restaurant is so far away from home because I would love to go back more often. ~ Service was also prompt and quick, and the restaurant contains ample seating with bright lighting. read more

Wow I left impressed with this place! I finally found a Korean Chinese place in Seattle that I can look forward to. We walked in 12:15pm on a Sunday for two people and we luckily got seated right away despite the restaurant looking packed. Food: number one dish was Jjampong - the noodles really stand out in its consistency and texture, along with the perfect balance of depth and spice. It was packed with seafood and we also had brisket since we took the brisket option. I normally don't love Jjampong, but this place had me going back for more. Jjamangmyun was really good here too - noodles bring the dish to life along with depth and umami of the black bean sauce. I'd say it's on the sweeter side but I loved it. You can taste the flavor of the heat from wok in these dishes - executed very well. We also tried the Yuringi (fried chicken in a spicy tangy garlicky sauce) - it was really good and crispy. If I had a choice, I'd go back and have the Tangsooyuk though because I was eyeing the plate on the table next to us lol. Service: so kind and fast. Very communicative about any dishes that were taking longer than expected. Ambiance: casual fun spacious lively. Good place for a casual meal with your family or friends. It was super busy on a Monday evening, with only the single seats or a table for 2 when we came in. Portions were great, you can def share! Staple comfort food- tangsuyuk & jajang are recommended! I have been driving by this place for months and never bothered to stop in, and I finally decided to make it a point to do it since the word noodle is in their sign. I'm so glad I did... At first I was a little thrown off by the fact the noodles were not what I was expecting, and there were so much unfamiliar things on the menu, but I was wowed by their shrimp fried rice (accompanied by their pork with bean paste which f-in' blew my mind). The soup that comes with it is spicy but so flavorful. Their noodles are good too, but not nearly as flavorful as the friend rice. Server was very nice and helpful when deciding what to order. I ordered the combo for two which consists of Jjamppong, Tangsuyuk, and Jjajangmyeon. Modoo restaurant in Lynnwood serves very consistent and tasty Korean dishes including their mega hit, Jjusami. Modoo now has two locations for Modoo Banjeom, serving Korean-Chinese dishes. This review is for the Lynnwood location. What I love about Modoo is their staff. They are so friendly that I sometimes don't even know what to say because I am so awe-struck. They are promptly responsive and did I say, friendly? I love going to Modoo Banjeom and having one of the friendliest services in Korean restaurants. And the food is great! I especially love their brisket jjamppong for its rich and flavorful soup with generous portions of seafood. Jjajangmyun was solid and tangsuyuk was perfectly crispy with a well-balanced sauce. I went here with a friend a couple of weeks ago and we ordered the beef brisket jjampong, regular jjampong, and fried dumplings. I wasn't expecting much since it's hard to find good jjampong around Seattle, and I usually find it too oily. But this place really surprised me! The regular jjampong had lots of seafood and a good amount of noodles. I tried my friend's beef brisket jjampong, and it wasn't oily at all as well, which I loved. The fried dumplings were also bigger than I expected and really tasty. The service was awesome too. The staff were really friendly and kept checking on us to make sure everything was okay, so we could see that they cared about customers. The place was clean and had a nice vibe. Really kind servers! Especially the guy with the glasses :) Probably the quickest seating at a Modoo I've yet to experience and least busy among their chains. Modoo has built a real name for themselves here in the Lynnwood community and I hope their dynasty continues to thrive. Really solid jjampong and jjajangmyun. Though I think both can be a little more savory and the jjampong can be spicier. The black bean noodles are a little sweet for my liking. Though I'm curious about their other variations. Just wanted to add an update to my existing review. I went in today to dine with my 10-year-old son who loves their Kkanpunggi (fried chicken bites w/ garlicky seasoning). I also ordered Yangjangpi (very delicious dish w/ seafood, chicken, fresh veggies where you drizzle hot spicy mustard sauce) which is my all-time favorite. Server, Fanny always remembers me and smiles, always providing great service. Eric, another server noticed that my son was almost finished with the side dish (yellow daikon) that they serve so he brought out another one when we didn't even ask. I was so floored by the level of great service we received, he was so attentive and so sweet. Pam was equally attentive and kept coming by to make sure we were enjoying our food and asking if we needed anything. We were on the waiting list for 25 minutes to be up next but we were skipped because we were told that a table of 4 people was available and not for 2 people, so it was given to a party of 4 people. The jja jang myun had incredible wok flavor, and the sweet and sour pork had the perfect chewy texture. I preferred the traditional versions over the mala; the peppercorns in the mala jjangppong overpowered the seafood flavor, so I'd skip it next time. Super new noodle house and definitely lived up to expectations. Upon entry, customers are greeted with EXCELLENT customer service. The interior is modern, industrial, minimalistic and super CLEAN. The overall vibe brings you joy and sets the tone for the meal that's about to get inside your belly. Now on to the food, the Jjjajang Myun (black bean noodles) are worthy to be praised! The sign of a truly good Jja jang myun is when the noodle texture is chewy and the sauce is not oily. The pork in the sauce was perfectly cooked with just the right amount of meat with a layer of fat. If you've never had black bean noodles, imagine a sweeter flavor profile of pork cooked with onions and black bean paste. There are slivers of cucumber as garnish. The Daikon radish side is essential to cut the rich flavor of the saucy noodles. I add vinegar to this and the red chili peppers as well.
