This was my first time trying Korean food, and it was such a great experience! My boyfriend and his dad brought me here while we were visiting my boyfriend's hometown of Lynnwood. We stopped in for dinner around 7:30 p.m., and I'm so glad we chose this place. We ordered the fried mackerel, kimchi pancake, stir-fried octopus, pork tofu stew, and jokbal. Everything was flavorful, fresh, and delicious. The kimchi pancakes were definitely my favorite.. we loved them so much that we ended up ordering a second order! This was a great introduction to Korean cuisine, and I really enjoyed getting to try so many different dishes. The service was friendly, the food came out in a timely manner, and we had a wonderful dinner experience. If I'm ever back in town again, I'll definitely be stopping by. One of the worst dining experiences I have had. Two major issues with this restaurant recently - 1. The portions were so laughable. For Japchae, they charge 16.99 and there were like 2 pieces of meat and 5 spoonful of noodle. They used to have a lot more ingredients like mushrooms too but recently it has gone downhill 2. Worse was the service or rather lack of management. There were about 10+ tables that were dining in and they had 1 waitress serving all those tables. We had to wait 25 minutes to get refill of hot tea and refill of side dishes. And then we had to wait another 10+ minutes to get to go boxes. We used to like this restaurant but we are now doubting if we want to even give them another chance. read more

Nice quiet little Korean place off hwy 99. Was it the best I've had? Not really but it meets the craving when one is called. Waitress was nice and little over sensitive on the concern regarding our ability to eat the fermented soup but to us it definitely wasn't fermented enough. Don't blame her concern though... we know it's not a dish to everyone. Place was clean, food was okay, nothing stellar as requiring a shout out. I've missed Korean food so much, and Sam Oh Jung absolutely hit the spot. I ordered the soy marinated crab combo with soybean stew, tteokbokki, and spicy naengmyeon -- everything was delicious. Portions were just right, and all the side dishes were super tasty too. The service was really great. I've been going here for many years since it was probably best Korean food in the past. Today I got 3 items to go and was really shocked to see the portion of the stir fried squid. It almost look like they packed some leftovers and barely quarter of the size you would expect. I only just ate the soup and taste was so bland and no flavor. Unlike the ones I remember. I don't know what happened here or if there's been an owner change. This is totally unacceptable. The taste is all gone and nowhere close to before. Tl;dr restaurant is cozy, with great food and great service. The flavors are consistent and their banchan (sides) are a huge highlight. Food: Everything my wife and I have had here has been good. The flavors are nice and consistent, and the food is well portioned. I will say, the variety of ban chan they have is phenomenal and are definitely key to a well rounded meal. The soup was very flavorful and the rice cakes were cooked nicely. I just wish they provided more portioning for it. The spicy cold noodles were good as well. Extremely small amount of beef slice given though. And I only got half a hard boiled egg. The marinated raw crab were good, but a bit too salty for me. The cold noodle is my favorite. The broth is refreshing, noodle is chewy, and the portion is pretty big. The hot pot is good also, light and flavorful broth, pretty of meat and veggie. Since moving to Seattle I haven't tried too many Korean restaurants, but I was really excited to check this spot out! Sam Oh Jung is located in Lynnwood, which is north of Seattle, about 20-30 minutes away. It's located inside of a small plaza so there was ample parking available! We went there for an early Saturday dinner and were seated right away. Inside they have a good number of tables and booths available. Our server was very kind and took our order right away, making sure we were taken care of throughout the entire meal. We ended up ordering the soon tofu soup with beef along with the cold buckwheat noodles (naengmyun). The soon tofu soup was so good, with the perfect amount of spice and salt, and it was so flavorful! Definitely satisfied my craving on a cold day. The naengmyun was also so good, I loved the broth, especially when you add vinegar to it! I also appreciated all of the banchan we received, with a good amount of variety. My daughter and I have eaten here a few times, and I keep meaning to leave a review--today feels like the perfect time. We love this place for authentic Korean food. The food is always fresh and tasty, and they have a wide variety of dishes to choose from, from Soy Sauce Crabs to soy bean paste stew that is rich and flavorful. The rice tea is a nice touch and the seafood pancake is the best in the area, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The stir fried octopus is tender and not too spicy, much better than the squid. The side dishes are complimentary and they are rotated frequently, so we get to try different things every time. The restaurant is open every day, even on holidays, and has plenty of parking spaces in the nearby lot. It is not too crowded and we never have to wait for a table, even on weekends. The atmosphere is cozy and the owner is very friendly and always greets us with a smile. He gives us good suggestions on what to order. We gave it four stars because the bossam and jokbal, which are boiled pork belly and pig's feet, have very limited vegetables and pickled radish to go with them. We were charged extra for refilling the radish. The price is not cheap, similar to other Korean places that we have tried, but some dishes are big enough to share between two or three people, like the pancake, jokbal, bossam, soy sauce crabs, etc. Some dishes are not, like the soups and the rice dishes, so we have to order more. We recommend this place if you want to try real Korean food without waiting in line or worrying if the food would be worth it.
