The food and drinks are good....but DO NOT eat there with a large group. We ate on the patio which was nice. But this restaurant is NOT equipped to deal with large groups out there. Food took an hour to get and the poor waitress was slammed (maybe someone didn't show up for work and she had to cover indoors and outdoors?). The worst part is that they will not give individual checks so our group spend 1 hour trying to sort the bill out! Too bad for Moe Joe's cuz people were waiting on our tables. I've drove past downtown Plainfield for years and while it's always been live, I've really never tried the many restaurants out there. One day my husband and I wanted to try something local and decided to try Moe Joe's. I'm not much of a sea food person so I had the burger. My burger comes out and I notice something fried that looks like a potato so I proceed to ask the waitress before I eat, she stated it's pork. I showed her the menu and on it it states no where that pork is added to all burgers. The waitress was extremely nice and apologetic and took my burger back to the kitchen and a new burger was made for me without the pork. At this point I felt very bad because of the wasted food so I offered to pay for the incorrect burger as well as the new burger and was not charged for either burger. Bottom line despite human error; a great place and I will definitely go back to Moe Joes! Their Jerk chicken is amazing! read more

I liken MoJoes to stochiometry in which a limiting factor is involved. In MoJoe's case, the factor is time. For Plainfield, I think this place is pretty spiffy, until about 10 o'clock, where it kinda turns into a seedy dive bar, especially downstairs. Now, don't get me wrong, I love dive bars, and as far as that type of bar, MoJoe's fits the bill. They have a pretty good beer selection, and I really liked the milk stout, which our server recommended. All in all, it's a good towny bar, with pretty hilarious people watching. read more

I've finally had the chance to check this place out again!! I must say, it's like they took the party from New Orleans and dropped it right in Plainfield!!!! The food is amazing, the drinks are crazy! There is no other bar in will county I've found that has innovative drinks like Moe Joe's!! We stayed after since they have a dj on Thursdays-Saturdays. It was a Thursday night when went and man the dj not disappoint. He played some of the best dance music I have heard in a really long time! His mixing with on point that's for sure. They definitely have a bar/club feel after 10pm so you can shake your booty all night! I felt like they brought a little bit of Chicago nightlife to the suburbs. I asked the dj if he is there all the time and he stated he's there thurs & fri and another dj on sat. I talked to Dj Victor Amato, I remember cause we have the same first name! The four or five times I've been here have never disappointed. The fried green pepper rings are perfectly battered And seasoned. The Resurrection burger truly is a religious experience. The food variety is one very good aspect of this place however the portion sizes are very small for the price. The bar layout is rough to get service on a busy night. The atmosphere and decor is great but speed of service and attentiveness of staff could use some work as well as the portion sizes for the price. The food was ok but our service was terrible. Then when the check came our bill was not tallied correctly. They finally came back and said that they made a $100 error, plus it ended up costing us at least $140 too much. We called for a reservation for 14 people almost a week in advance and had a table that held 10. Very disappointing. Two people in our party didn't receive their second cocktail...it was just a mess. If you can't handle parties that big, don't accept the reservation. read more

Although we've gone to MoeJoe's several times and our most recent trip was this past Fat Tuesday. MoeJoe's is always a Cajun place, with pretty good food, but sometimes too spicy and I like spicy food. On Fat Tuesday, the place is packed, which makes it even more fun to visit. read more

Well ive finally got a chance to enjoy a meal at this place i djd at few times...first off the place is very unique and the personalities of the employees right away let me know it was my kind if place! First of all they brought me out this cornbread that was SOOOOO good i almost have driven the trip JUST for the cornbread! I had fried green pepper rings that kicked major booty! Very good! DJ on weekends is good. Food is good but WAY overpriced!! And the alcohol pricing is not like any bar... It's not quarter intervals for drink pricing... It'll be like 4.63 for a drink?!?! Been here a few times. It's been progressively going down hill. This last time was the straw that broke the camels back. Came in on a Thursday night. Got sat right away. Sign out front said 3 dollar martinis. Asked the waitress about the special and she showed me the martini menu. Whole table (6 people) ordered martinis. Ordered food and appetizers. The service was a little slow, but she was having issues with another table, so that was forgiven. Food was good. Bill came out and they charged us full price for all the martinis... 9 dollars! Told the server of the error and she said "it's only select martinis" and I said.... well we were not informed of that. There is no sign stating that, and when I asked about the special we were given this drink list to choose from, so we are going to need to talk to a manager to get this taken care of". Server leaves and then comes back about 5 minutes later stating "I'm really sorry, but the manager said there isn't much we can do because it's only certain martinis that we can do for this special and you didn't order those" (mind you they only have about 10 martinis and we ordered pretty much one of each) I said "again this was not posted anywhere and we were not informed of this at any point and I specifically asked about he 3 dollar martinis so you need to bring the manager over here so we can talk to her" server says "she said she is too busy right now to come over". I said... well she needs to come over, and she needs to do it right now we will wait. Server leaves again. 5 minutes later server comes back AGAIN WITHOUT MANAGER. She says "I'm so sorry guys.... it was my mistake, but they're going to make me pay for this and I'm only 17 years old and I can't afford this sort of thing" i said "they will not make you pay for this it's illegal. You need to bring the manager here right now. You shouldn't be trying to fix this because you can't" FINALLY the manager comes over. I explain the situation and she says the same thing "it's only select margaritas" I say "yeah you all keep saying that, but it is not written anywhere and when I asked about the special I was handed that list of martinis to choose from" manager said "I understand but this is the second time it's happened tonight and we are losing a lot of money on this" I said "then fix it! It's not the customers fault that they are being informed incorrectly." She said "it's on the sign when you walked in" and I said "no it's not, and I you can see here on my phone because I thought it may have been too, so I went out to check and it just said 3 dollar martinis.... not selected martinis so I took a picture of it as proof" she said "well I'm going to have to see how much of this I can take off" and with that she left. Then she came back with the bill and said we changed it to the three dollar martinis as you can see here." She left us with the bill that had 2 $30 open liquor charges equaling $60 . (10 martinis X 3 = 30 not 60) so again we had to go back to her to fix that.... I fee like it took longer to check out than it did to eat. Very frustrated and very disappointed. ALSO just an FYI to the management staff. It is completely inappropriate for you to stand in front of a table and tell the server that it is her fault and she did her job wrong while trying to fix a guest issue. Nothing about this place was bad, but nothing was particularly good. I was dining with people who have been to NOLA a few times, and all of them said that the food is definitely not authentic. I give this restaurant high marks on its meat cookery, but the flavors kinda fell flat. I was also dissatisfied with the service, as our food took over an hour to arrive (and there was only one other table of people). I think that Moe Joe's is a fun concept and I wouldn't mind going back if others wanted to try it, but I wouldn't choose to return myself. There are way better places for Cajun food! read more

I feel if you go here with two people you should plan on being there for at least an hour and a half, but nice environment and friendly service. What a great place! The decor is awesome; I felt like I was on Bourbon Street. Great energy, great food, great drink specials. I had the Cajun burger, which is served on a pretzel roll with fried onions and okra; it may have been the best burger I've ever had. The power went out the night I was there, due to a massive storm. Had been wanting to try this place for quite some time. when i finally did, it met every expectation. The wife and I both ordered a cup of gumbo and a cup of turtle soup to share. the gumbo was excellent and the turtle soup was something different but also very tasty. I then ordered the crawfish etouffee. the portions were huge and great to have leftovers the next day. I highly recommend! The wife ordered red beans and rice with shrimp and it was ok, nothing special but it was good. Food was great. We split the dried catfish with sides of fried okra and sweet potato fries. The catfish filet was huge...tasted good and moist. The fried okra was also good...lightly breaded and served with ranch dip. Sweet potato fries were too sweet. They were covered in cinnamon & sugar. I personally think they are sweet enough on their own. Cornbread was ok ...probably needed to be cooked a little longer. Service needs work here...our glasses sat empty for 10 minutes. Drinks were only refilled when food was brought out. We had to hunt a waitress down to get our ticket to pay. Food makes up for subpar service. We haven't eaten here in a couple years and were pleasantly surprised with the changes they'd made. read more
